Very tasty, home-style cuisine. Friendly staff. It was very tasty.

We were in Ulm for the first time and luckily came across the restaurant. It couldn't have been better. When we are back in Ulm we know where we will go again. Staff very friendly and attentive. Any time.

The onion roast is made from pork and not beef as you would normally expect.

I ordered an onion roast which unfortunately was only made from pork. Material was probably saved due to the naivety of the customer. The waitress played dumb and said we should complain to the chef. Never again.

The restaurant is very comfortably furnished and invites you to linger. We ate the daily meal, which was very good and also reasonably priced. The woman who provided us with drinks and food was very attentive, friendly and always concerned about us and the guests at the other tables. We'll be back. 👍👍👍

WOW! What a superb tavern to stumble across for lunch. The food is tradtional Bavarian fair, the quanitities served were generous and the meals were extremely fine quality add to that the superb and helpful service and this is a place not to be missed.

Despite having a reservation outside, we unfortunately had to go inside. Luckily there was still enough space there, there were 9 people. All young men with very loud voices and in a very good mood. The waitress was very relaxed with us and had fun with us. The other guests also took it easy, as they often laughed quite loudly. Food was very tasty, drinks came relatively quickly. The price is a bit high, but reasonable. Happy to come back!

Wahnsinn, das ist unverschämt. Da bestellt man einen Salat, bekommt eine kleine Portion geliefert um dann am Ende den Preis eines großen Salates zu bezahlen. Nachdem ich die Bedienung angesprochen habe kam ein lapidares, ach halbe Salate haben wir eigentlich nicht. Auch die Tatsache das wir eine Stunde auf dem Trockenen saßen, zeigt das ich hier kein Gast mehr sein werde.

Good, home-style food at reasonable prices. Highly recommended. We had the homemade Maultaschen and the “Tapas Swabian-Wunderfitzle” cheese spaetzle and sausage salad.

Unfortunately, it was a somewhat mixed experience. On the one hand, the spinach and cheese spaetzle we ultimately consumed were really good and very cheap at €11.11 (lunch). But before that we wanted Maultaschen. It was only when we ordered that we were informed that they were out. Firstly, this should be communicated when the menu is handed over. And secondly, I ask myself how the Maultaschen can run out in such an established Swabian restaurant in Ulm? It's like running out of beer at the Oktoberfest... Unfortunately there were also a lot of wasps at the tables. Some other guests actually left because of this. Unfortunately, card payments were not possible at the time of our visit, but the proactive communication worked perfectly.

This restaurant is confirmation that even in Germany you can eat very well. We had Maultaschen and several regional tapas. Everything delicious, very high quality, excellent beer, fast and friendly service. There is also a menu for children.

Very tasty food and great vegan options

I was impressed how relaxed, friendly and efficient the two lady waitresses were. After all, the place was jam full. I had a dish from 'Oma'. It was really tasty!

If you are looking for a beautiful and traditional restaurant in the home of Swabian cuisine, you will definitely find it here in the Herrenkeller. The restaurant is beautifully decorated inside and also offers plenty of seating outside. The menu, which is presented in the form of a newspaper, offers a nice selection of classic Swabian dishes, and there is also the option to order individual Swabian tapas. I would like to highlight the ox cheeks with potato and celery puree, which taste incredibly aromatic and tender when combined with the sauce. But the Maultaschen also taste fantastic in combination with the braised onions and the sauce. You can tell that not just any meat is used here. A minus point is the rather high prices, but quality has its price! Definitely a recommendation.

The food that was available was delicious, but 60% of the items on the menu were sold out by 7 p.m. (More if you take into account that the side dishes for most of the main courses were also no longer there).

Food and service was great. Because of the swearing weekend and the fact that it is Sunday. You can tell that everything is freshly cooked here.

The service was good and quick, even though all the outdoor seats were full. My husband ate the roast of the day, which was OK, but carelessly prepared, the spaetzle was fried and dry. I ate lentils with spaetzle. The spaetzle was just like my husband's, the lentils were inedible: mushy, tomatoized, tasteless. The restaurant seems to me to be a nasty tourist trap - better skip it!

We ate very well, the waiter was super nice and brought the orders quickly and was there quickly for repeat orders.

We were tempted by the Asparagus menu, now in season . How disappointing that it looked good but tasted sour. Also the hollandaise seemed artificial. I asked if the asparagus was in fact fresh, I was told freshly delivered by their supplier that day. Was it then a cooking issue or off asparagus?

We came across this restaurant by chance and absolutely loved it. I had a schnitzel with fried potatoes. Very tasty and very plentiful. Would have easily been enough for two people. My wife had asparagus with schnitzel and that was also very tasty and plentiful. This was rounded off with good Meersburg white wine, mild Williams Christ pear and attentive and funny service. All in all, unreservedly recommended.

As an honest Ulmer, I was looking for a restaurant with a typical Swabian menu. I found what I was looking for in the men's cellar and was thrilled. From the ambience to the service, everything was just perfect. I will definitely come again

Nothing to do without a reservation; At least that's what we've had. And there's a reason for that: very good cuisine and large portions. We didn’t manage to make the “gentlemen’s cellar plate”. Clear recommendation!

Basically everything fits there. Fast and friendly service (and with a full house), rustic atmosphere and excellent food. The small Swabian tapas are a great idea!

Vorwegnehmen möchte ich, dass ich in Ulm lebe und wir, meine Frau und ich, sowie mit Freunden, regelmäßig im „Herrenkeller“ sind, da wir uns dort wohlfühlen. Das Wirtshaus „Herrenkeller“ ist eine sehr urige Gaststätte, bei der Gastfreundschaft gelebt wird. Im historischen Lokal ist das Ambiente im Innenraum dem historischen Gebäude sehr gut angepasst. Das Getränkeangebot ist sehr vielseitig, und überzeugt z.B. bei den alkoholischen Getränken beim Bier, wie auch bei der Weinauswahl. Da sollte für jeden etwas dabei sein, der einen gemütlichen Abend genießen möchte. Die Küche überzeugt sowohl bei den schwäbischen Klassikern, wie auch bei den anderen Gerichten. Ein Highlight sind meiner Ansicht für den kleinen Hunger die „Wunderfitzla“ – schwäbische Tapas. Das sind „Ableger“ der normalen Gerichte, als kleine Portion. So hat man auch die Möglichkeit einen Querschnitt an Speisen auszuprobieren. Schön, dass es dieses Lokal in der Nähe des Ulmer Münsters gibt. Parken ist im Parkhaus "Salzstadel" ca. 4 Minuten fußläufig möglich. Jetzt ausprobieren und sich ein eigenes Bild machen.

I would like to say in advance that I live in Ulm and we, my wife and I, regularly go to the “Herrenkeller” because we feel comfortable there. The “Herrenkeller” inn is a very rustic restaurant where hospitality is practiced. In the historic restaurant, the interior ambience is very well adapted to the historic building. The range of drinks on offer is very varied and is impressive, for example in terms of alcoholic drinks such as beer and the selection of wine. There should be something for everyone who wants to enjoy a cozy evening. The cuisine impresses with both the Swabian classics and the other dishes. In my opinion, a highlight for those with a small appetite are the “Wunderfitzla” – Swabian tapas. These are “offshoots” of the normal dishes, in small portions. This also gives you the opportunity to try out a cross-section of dishes. It's nice that there is this restaurant near the Ulm Minster. Try it out now and form your own opinion.

Had cordon bleu filled with ham and cheese patties, with fries. We had never eaten it like that before, but it was surprisingly tasty. Service was very nice. Really recommended

On the recommendation of my friends, we went to this restaurant. The facility is very homely and lovingly decorated. The menu, in the form of a daily newspaper, is terrific. What I liked best was the selection of tapas that you can order. The daily meals are very large and the plates are beautifully prepared. You are also welcome just to drink a cappuccino. Worth a visit.

We were there today. Had no reservation. They refused us by saying that they were fully booked. Which under normal circumstances is fair. But while we were about to leave, we heard that they gave a table to the next customers even though they also didn’t have a reservation. When we challenged them (we don’t speak German but do understand a bit; but other customers there also confirmed our understanding), they said they still don’t have a place for us and we could try again in half an hour. They were not friendly at all. Better stay away.

Gute Hausmannskost in großen Portionen. Der Service war nett und bemüht. Die Atmosphäre erinnert mehr an eine Kneipe als ein Restaurant. Die Luft der letzten Abende stand noch im Raum. Trotzdem ein netter Abend.

Wir sind wieder und wieder überrascht wie schnell wirst du hier bedingt. Schmecken tut es hier sowieso deswegen sind wir immer wieder da. 😄Also schnell, günstig, freundlich, angenehm und schmeckt ganz gut. 😄

Uriges Restaurant in der Ulmer Innenstadt. Das Essen ist schmackhaft und der Service sehr aufmerksam. Das Cordon Bleu gefüllt mit Kässpatzn ist eine interessante Abwandlung und die anstelle des Kartoffelsalats zu den Fleischküchle bestellten Bratkartoffeln waren perfekt gewürzt. Lediglich die Fleischküchle waren innen leider nur noch lauwarm als sie an den Tisch kamen. Den Gesamteindruck trübt allerdings, dass die Preise deutlich zu hoch sind. Natürlich sind die Materialkosten gestiegen und die Mehrwertsteuer für die Gastro wurde wieder auf 19% angehoben (mit was die erhöhten Preise in der Karte auch begründet werden), allerdings werden z.B. über 17,- für Kässpatzn aufgerufen. Ob die Mehrwertsteuersteuersenkung damals auch an den Kunden weitergegeben wurde?

Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen, Getränke und Essen kamen sehr flott und geschmeckt hat es auch

Sehr schönes Ambiente, leckeres Essen, nette Bedienung. Ich fand positiv das nicht nur zur Abends- oder Mittagszeit Mahlzeiten angeboten werden, sondern vom Öffnen bis abends.

Tolle Atmosphäre, urig und ein wirklich gutes Essen

Das Ambiente ist angenehm. Der Service ist gut; aber Essen sie ja keine Schwäbischen Linsen mit Spätzle. Die Zubereitung ist geschmacklich nicht schwäbisch, eher grenzwertig - und serviert auf einem viel zu kleinem Teller. Genussvoll geht anders.

Wir waren heute zu 8 im Herrenkeller. Für mich war es das erste mal dort. Rustikale Einrichtung, typisches Brauhaus Feeling. Wir hatten unterschiedliche Gerichte in der Gruppe bestellt. Essen war sehr gut, ich hatte das Wildgulasch mit Semmelknödel und Blaukraut, meine Frau die 1/4 Ente mit Knödel. Beides war sehr sehr lecker, Portionen waren groß. Preislich eher im Mittelfeld, aber vollkommen gerechtfertigt für Größe und Qualität der Speisen. Service war sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und ohne Fehler. Solch Service hätte ich gerne öfters in Ulm. Für uns mit Sicherheit einen weiteren Besuch wert, wir kommen wieder.

Super urige Gastwirtschaft. Wenn ich in Ulm, gehe ich immer wieder gern dort hin. Nettes Personal, super ausgewogene Karte mit regionalen Spezialitäten.

Schwäbische Klassiker auf der Karte aber neu interpretiert!? - Leider ging das gar nicht . Linsen mit Spätzle ohne Einbrenne sondern die Grundzutat scheint Tomatensauce zu sein. Doe Saotenwürst waren das Schmackhafteste am ganzen Essen. Anstatt schwäbischer Kartoffelsalat gibt es Kürbispüree!? Der "Omas hausgemachter Braten" ein zähes fadloses Disaster ohne Geschmack. Ein "nogo" muss ich leider sagen.

Schönes Lokal, Service ok. Schnitzel war gut. Kässpätzle leider ungenießbar, in Konsistenz und Geschmack :(
