I've been there quite often in previous years, unfortunately that's why it only gets a low score.

Ancient ambience and typical German food

The food seems to be mostly cobbled together from convenience products. Lightly seasoned. Not particularly warm. It looks carelessly prepared... The beer and beer garden are good... The kitchen should offer bread and butter; you can't go wrong with that...

The service was nice and friendly, and also quick. Unfortunately, the food (neither the pumpkin cream soup nor the knuckle pan) had very little flavor, as has been mentioned here many times. A good sprinkling of salt and pepper was all it took to get the taste. My four companions, unfortunately, felt the same. The beer was good, though.

We had a reservation for 15 people! On a Sunday at 1:45 p.m., after peak meal time! Unfortunately, we had to wait 70 minutes for the food! The children were also there, as they were almost the last to get their food. The food was not good! The Maultaschen were burnt, the fries were cold, the pollock fillet tasted like water, and the schnitzel was dripping with fat. The waiter noticed our frustration and, just to be on the safe side, didn't even ask if we enjoyed the food. I wrote an email to 3 Kannen and asked for a reply, but I didn't get a reply, so now I have to write a bad review and warn other guests! I will not be going to 3 Kannen again!

We were here again today after many years. Unfortunately, the food was not good at all. The so-called gravy tasted absolutely terrible. It definitely didn't seem to be homemade. We had Maultaschen (swabian ravioli), liver, and cordon bleu. All three dishes are worth one star at most. When we told the waiter that the gravy was inedible, he simply took it away without comment. A real waste of money. We'll definitely never be back.

I don't understand the negative reviews. A thoroughly enjoyable evening! Tasty beer from the brewery, hearty food in generous portions, and very friendly and prompt service! This is what a visit to a brewery should be like. Thank you very much!

This was my second time at this brewery and I can't understand the current negative reviews. The food was good and the service was simply excellent. I got exactly what you'd expect from a brewery.

I'm not a fan of 2-star reviews, but unfortunately, I have to give Drei Kannen this rating. 1 star for the good beer, 1 star for the waiter. The food was disastrous – sauce from a packet, cheese spaetzle with no texture and no cheese – just yellow, flavorless mush that's been kept warm for hours. The chicken schnitzel wasn't breaded, but plain, with no mention of this on the menu. The fried Maultasche (ravioli) was burnt. The starter soup was supposed to be with pumpkin, but was bland, flavorless, and cold. It was then simply heated in the microwave. A complete disaster from a gastronomic perspective; I've had better and more reasonably priced food in cafeterias.

We went out to eat with a group of eleven people. The dishes were consistently bad, as was the service. The spaetzle weren't even good or edible as a convenience product. A colleague had liver that was raw and undercooked. It's even been described as a rip-off. The pumpkin soup was cold, we complained about, and then it came back warmed from the microwave. We ordered pumpkin soup, and it was sweet potato soup. The sauce was definitely convenience food, tasteless, and uneatable. No one ever asked if the food was tasty or if everything was okay. When the food was cleared, we looked at the full plates in surprise and couldn't understand it at all. In any case, I would not recommend this restaurant again. There was no real response to the complaint. The staff was completely overwhelmed. Definitely not recommending this restaurant. You can get better food at any amusement park. Price-performance ratio, out of all proportion. Next time I'll definitely not go to Drei Kannen again.

We were here last night. I was craving a nice pumpkin soup. The first delivery was cold, with a few seeds in it, no flavor (you normally use ginger, etc.), and no pumpkin seed oil or anything like that. I sent it back, and 5 minutes later, the same, unloved plate came back from the microwave. For the main course, we had Maultaschen (swabian pasta) and a completely flavorless potato salad. My neighbor had cheese spaetzle, which were a disgrace!! No one expects spaetzle to be scraped off the board here, but there are such good restaurant alternatives that are worlds better. But that was filth. Never again!!

The food was truly terrible! The potato salad was truly terrible, no seasoning, 100% convenience food, but poorly made! The Maultaschen were okay; I've had worse, but also much better ones. The sauce that came with it was also present on the 5 other plates at the table --- the same pre-made sauce for all the dishes!!! Conclusion: If you want good, local food, this is the wrong place!

We were there yesterday. We had reserved a table for 5:30 p.m. We arrived on time and were seated at a tiny table on the edge that was in the way. Like three other tables, we still hadn't received a menu after 40 minutes, nor were we asked for a drink. Only after asking did a waiter, annoyed, come over to us and then reluctantly serve all four tables. Sorry, we've never had such a dining experience for these prices. Instead of serving us, they moved the furniture and tables. But it was delicious, no question. Only three jugs, and not again for a while.

A traditional, cozy, and long-established brewery with excellent home-style cooking. The portions are large and reasonably priced. The service is friendly, but unfortunately, rarely at the table.

Unfortunately, I discovered that during my visit this month, nothing of what I experienced several months ago was true anymore. I don't know if it's due to a change in management or a lack of staff, but in any case, the food was of a quality that prevented me from finishing my plate. I've been coming to this restaurant for decades, but this was my last time, and it personally upsets me.

Yes, maybe the chef was having a bad day...I couldn't eat all of my dish...the ham hock wasn't crispy enough for me...I'm used to it completely differently...what a pity. I actually wanted to eat something completely different, but they didn't have any mashed potatoes left with the veal liver...that says a lot...???😉yes...it tastes good with milk from a carton too...

We would have liked to order something, but after 30 minutes we left, having gotten our own menus. A waiter was at the table at one point and wanted to give us someone else's drinks. When we noticed the mistake, he called for the waitress. It never came... now we're going to another restaurant.

Very nice beer garden, friendly staff and good beer

Although this is a lovely, quaint restaurant with a pleasant beer garden, I can't recommend it. The portions were large, but the food wasn't particularly tasty.

To call what's offered here "Swabian and Bavarian cuisine" is a disgrace! I really don't need to go out to eat to heat up frozen food, never again!

The service was okay. The food was simply poor for the price. Tasteless and very tough. I ordered the pork knuckle with bread dumplings. The ambiance was nice.

Very nice place, you feel like you're in Munich, so it looks very nice here. The service is friendly, the portions are decent, but you can also have it packed up if it's too much.

Very good food, even though the staff doesn't speak much German. Drinks weren't served properly, apparently due to communication problems. The food was very good. The portions were very generous.

We were there on a Sunday with 12 people. It's nice that it's not right in the city center and is away from other restaurants. This makes it nice and quiet. You can even order a beer, which I really like. The side salad arrived quickly and was very tasty. I ordered the fillet plate with cheese spaetzle. Unfortunately, the cheese spaetzle had a bland taste and were really underwhelming. The pork fillet was good and could have been a bit more tender. The knife was quite blunt, so I had trouble cutting the meat. Prices were okay. Someone in our group had a birthday, and I asked if they offered something small like a free shot, but unfortunately, the answer was no, which I found very disappointing. Conclusion: Great salad, OK main course, great atmosphere, and OK service.

We received a friendly welcome. The ambiance is nice. But that was it. First, we waited for what felt like an eternity for our order to be taken. A full hour passed between entering the restaurant and the food being served. Not even a word of apology for the extra time. It seemed like the staff were under a lot of stress. It's just unfortunate that guests notice this so much. The food was rather mediocre. Poorly seasoned, and the meat was reheated. In the end, the waiter truly deserved a 20-cent tip. That was still too much. Perhaps we were just having a bad day, but given our experience, I unfortunately can't recommend the restaurant.

Not without exception Unfortunately, the quality declined considerably; lentils overcooked and tasteless - spaetzle an indefinable mass - silk sausages were okay; food was sometimes delivered cold/lukewarm (maybe because everything was supposed to arrive at the same time and it was very busy; this was immediately "cured") Nuremberg burger with cabbage was very dry overall, but tasted okay. 3x steak sandwiches - an unusual interpretation of a steak (rather chunky) on cold, tasteless bread with lukewarm fries Service was very courteous and everything was under control despite the heavy crowd, hence the 2 stars

Very nice restaurant, good food

The restaurant itself and the Biergarten are nice and cozy. Service was decent as well. A little more attention is appreciated. The food wasn't good though. The Käsespätzle were almost like mashed potatoes and didn't have any structure. Plus they weren't really cheesy. The Haxenpfanne wasn't that great either. It was too greasy. Basically it was swimming in oil and the meat quality was low in my opinion. It tasted like it was old meat that was warmed up again. On the positive side the dishes are quite big so you won't stay hungry.

The meal was a disaster - absolutely terrible. The onion roast beef had nothing to do with the actual dish. Shoe soles were more like it. The so-called cheese spaetzle were also a disaster - reheated, orange cheese (?!? - somehow all the dishes were the same shade of orange), watery... Sorry, unfortunately the food, a freshly baked roast pork, didn't live up to expectations. There was very little sauce on the plate, which made the rest quite dry, and the sauce we ordered from the waitress didn't arrive.

Typical German restaurants for the atmosphere and the Germanic proportions 😀 you have the possibility to choose between dishes from Baden Wurttemberg and Bavaria.

We haven't eaten here in a while and actually had positive memories. Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. They're still advertising the spring menu in July, and classics like cheese spaetzle, potato salad, and mushroom cream sauce aren't worth the money. The spaetzle were mushy/doughy, and the sauce came from a packet and was tasteless. A hefty price for large portions, but they'd prefer more quality over quantity. Such a shame about the beautiful location!

How rude would you want to be if the waitress just said, "Yes!" Mostly, they just used catchphrases. Rarely was a question asked. The food selection was good. The portion sizes were perfectly adequate, and the prices were reasonable. The cheese spaetzle was a bit too bland for our taste.

I don't like to give restaurants a bad review, but our visit here was unfortunately very disappointing. The pancake soup was lukewarm, and the pancakes were still raw in the middle. The cheese spaetzle were also lukewarm and had an unpleasant, mushy consistency—almost as if they had been pre-chewed. The cordon bleu was still raw inside—an absolute no-no when it comes to eating. The service was also rather mediocre. The only positive thing I'd like to mention is an older lady who cleared our food at the end. She was very friendly, apologized for everything, and really tried hard. That was the only bright spot. Overall, unfortunately, not a good experience—a shame.

Went here for lunch today with some colleagues. The food wasn't good, my colleagues agreed. The service was also below average. I ordered a mouse with strawberries for dessert and received it without strawberries. When I asked, the waiter said they must have been used in the mouse. After eating and not being able to find any, he said that the menu must have been wrong. We still had to pay the full price. This has never happened to me before. I'm sure you can find better restaurants in Ulm for eating, but unfortunately the food there today was really abysmal.

Wir sind sehr enttäuscht, obwohl rechtzeitig reserviert, wurden wir an einem großen Tisch platziert, andem gar nicht alle Platz hatten, dazu in der prallen Sonne. Im hinteren Bereich waren viele Tische frei im Schatten. Bedienungen war nicht sehr freundlich, kann und möchte die vielen schlechten Eindrücke gar nicht alle aufschreiben. Wir kommen nicht wieder. Schade !

Leider sehr enttäuschend und nicht empfehlenswert. Wir waren mit einer Busgesellschaft zum Mittagessen angemeldet. Das Essen war geschmacklos und nicht appettitlich zubereitet. Wir aßen eine kleine Portion Kässpätzle mit Salat. Ich erhielt einen gemischten Salat und meine Frau für das gleiche Essen nur einen grünen Salat! Das Essen sah aus wie ein Brei und kostete 16,90 Euro. Auch der Service war überfordert. Außen am Lokal entdeckten wir beim Verlassen eine Mittagskarte auf der Kässpätzle und Salat für 9,90 Euro angeboten wurde. So werden die Touristen in diesem Lokal abgezockt.

A very nice place, great ambience

Eigentlich ein Innenhof mit Potential, dass leider nicht gesehen wird. Defekte Stühle, Lampen die unliebsam rumhängen, Hinterhofambiente. Das Essen ist einfach nicht gut. Auf meinem Vesperteller habe ich billig Schinken und nur Zugekauftes gefunden. Kein selbstgemachter Obazter oder ähnliches, was ich in einem Traditionsgasthaus erwarte. Wir kommen kein 2. Mal.

There were six of us there today. The service seemed disinterested and unmotivated, which we subsequently perceived as unfriendly. And now for the food. Yes, the portions were very large, but they didn't taste any better for it. The advertisement for "the most beautiful beer garden in Ulm" is more of a self-perception.

Very good beer and food, nice staff, one of the best places in Ulm

The salad with Maultaschen is less salad, more soup with potato salad. Not much fresh salad, lots of sauce, with potato salad, carrots, and radish that taste like they came from a can. The asparagus with herb fritters was poorly peeled, and the herb spaetzle didn't contain any herbs, just herbs sprinkled on top. Our criticism was rewarded with an espresso at the end and the salad was not charged, but was acknowledged with grumbling. Not recommended!

I can't recommend the restaurant! I have no idea what they were doing, but we ate there as a group of seven. Five of them still had some of the food afterward. The waitresses didn't seem to be particularly keen on their jobs (which doesn't really matter to me, since they were doing their jobs). The ambiance is the only thing that's convincing in any way. I very rarely give bad reviews, but since the food "annoyed" us so much afterward, I unfortunately have to do so here.

Great atmosphere. Dining is a drama when four different dishes with the same sauce are served five minutes after ordering. Pure tourist rip-off. But the beer is delicious, so better not to eat here!!

Sehr unfreundlich, 5x das Handgerät zum Bestellen an den Kopf bekommen, später auch die Teller. Kindergerichte 20 Minuten nach den anderen gebracht, kein Hinweis, dass das Ketchup aus ist und stattdessen Salatsoße aus dem Heinz Päckchen gebracht. Geschmacklich wie vom Freibad Kiosk, dafür viermal so teuer. Der gute, traditionelle Ruf wird leider deutlich beschädigt. Keine Empfehlung.

Unfortunately, a complete disappointment! I can't recommend the asparagus at all! Mine was absolutely watery and tasteless, and my friend's was completely woody. So, in total, we spent €40 on potatoes with sauce. Even the very friendly service couldn't make up for that! I would avoid this restaurant ☝️😊

The beer was tasty, but unfortunately not much of the "historic" architecture remains.

The food was very poorly prepared and not freshly prepared. The mushroom sauce for the dumplings was a mess, and the lentils were only lukewarm.

Very good food. The knuckle pan was fantastic. It was just too much for me. Highly recommended.

We waited over an hour for our food. That wasn't a problem, as it was busy. However, we were yelled at every time we asked for something. I've been there many times, but unfortunately, I won't be going anymore. The food is really great, though.

Watery spaetzle and a chunk of cheese—it was absolutely not tasty. Unfortunately, the service wasn't that great either, except for the young man with a migrant background. Long wait times. Wouldn't go back under any circumstances.

What's particularly great about this restaurant is the wonderful beer garden. But even when the sun doesn't shine, you can enjoy very tasty beer with hearty Swabian food in the cozy restaurant with rustic furnishings. Very friendly service and good value for money. We came back the next day.

Zwei von drei Gerichten (vegan Wrap mit Hummus, Wiener Schnitzel mit Pommes) wurden als ungenügend bewertet. Das dritte Gericht wurde prominent mit Spargel im Menü beworben - es waren ca. 3 Spargelstücken mit einer Länge von ca. 8 cm vorhanden. Ein Zulagenwechsel, z.B. Pommes zu Kartoffelsalat, kostet 3 EUR extra. Für unsere Ulm Besuche müssen wir uns ein anderes Gasthaus suchen.

Short and painless!!! I'm really angry!! Seven of us went to lunch today and nothing worked out. Ordered food and was delivered incorrectly twice, so four people ate and 15 minutes later the other two. Onion roast 31.90 euros ordered medium and delivered... The sauce was missing from one dish but it arrived 10 minutes later ;-) 260 euros for ass. But thanks for the espressos that were on the house. Never again

Delicious cuisine at a fair price. Food was delivered very quickly without a long wait and the service was also attentive.

Very tasty home-style food in a nice atmosphere at not very cheap prices. It was nice here. In addition to the very good food and the pleasant location, we were particularly impressed by the young man who served us. With his wit and charm he really enhanced the experience. The slightly higher prices were no longer that important.

Reheated spaetzle is completely unacceptable, but if you're having a roast or sauce, please make it really warm. Saure Linsen mit Spätzle und Saitenwürstle. Die Linsen waren verkocht, keinerlei Geschmack und vertretbare Konsisenz, eher süss als sauer. Die Spätzle waren nur salzig und vor allem schon eher Muß als bissfest. Das Highlight hätten die Saitenwürstle sein können, aber die waren fast kalt und eben deshalb nicht durch. Und bitte unbedingt reservieren, ansonsten bekommen Sie trotz völlig leerem Lokal nur mit Mühe einen Tisch mit Zeitbegrenzung. Die beste Zeit der "Drei Kannen" ist halt längst vorbei, schade!!

There were five of us, after I was there a few weeks ago and it was really outstanding, I praised the three pots in my circle of friends. Then yesterday the disillusionment. Rarely have I been served such unloving and uninspired food. There was no difference in consistency between the mashed potatoes and the cheese spaetzle, the lentils on a dear friend's plate were a brown mass, the sauerkraut next to me was dry and completely tasteless, in no way inferior to the schnitzel in terms of blandness... In addition, the service was friendly but very scattered, no sausages with the lentils etc. At least we were accommodated when paying. Mahalo!

Reservation was forgotten, so we waited almost 1 hour in the cold, windy beer garden to get a place for 2 people inside, the house was full, only 2 waitresses were seen, and they were therefore very overloaded and therefore uncaring and unfriendly. Fries were so over-seasoned that only half could be eaten. You need an extra drink for this. Were there for schnitzel day (15.90 euros) plus 1x side dish of salad and 2 shandies for 33.20 euros per person. Very expensive for not recommended. Too bad

Maybe we had a bad day, but the food was really only mediocre, some cold, some too salty. And the service seemed overwhelmed at times, some dishes had to be reordered several times. Let's hope we were just unlucky. The restaurant itself is quaint and the atmosphere is nice.

Charged tap water 2.1€ for 0.2l.scam..... And also there was a fly in the water.

Fly in my water, one liter of TAP water is 5,5euros.

there is a similar restaurant in Prague called Schweik or something like that. We paid 5 eur for a simple 1 liter of tap water. terrible, keep out

The waiter did not even inform us the tap water wasnt free! We paid 5.5€ for 1L of tap water. The food was not good either. It the snitzhel was realy greasy and stiff! I dont recomend

Das Essen war richtig gut! Die Portionen sind großzügig, sodass wirklich jeder satt wird, und die Preise sind absolut fair. Besonders die klassischen schwäbischen Gerichte sind empfehlenswert. Auch das Personal war sehr nett und aufmerksam, sodass man sich rundum wohlfühlen konnte. Wer in Ulm ist und gutes Essen in uriger Atmosphäre genießen möchte, sollte hier unbedingt vorbeischauen!

It was actually just okay. Spaetzle is slightly watery, tastes like store-bought, the knuckle pan is swimming in oil and has the chef really learned his job? Perhaps. The dessert was really delicious, probably the only fresh one with flowers in the shop. It's funny that in the past you had to pull out your cell phone to order and today you walk in with a pen and piece of paper, while the cash register probably works perfectly. This smells strongly of something to me. Don't blame the service staff, they're just doing their job. If we're passing through again, we'll treat ourselves to a €10 kebab.
