Heimathafen Kö Leipzig in Leipzig

The home port has just reopened/reopened. The website says "authentic Afghan cuisine" - that piqued our interest. The menu on site, however, was a mix of Persian/Indian and German/Italian cuisine. The food was also very tasty, but not what we came for. Hence, only 3 stars instead of 4 for the food. The service was unfortunately terrible. There were a lot of staff who wandered around clueless, disoriented, and without any structure. Unfortunately, some of them were also incredibly snotty and unfriendly. Eye rolling, annoyed sighs, etc. - that's simply unacceptable. We waited over an hour for our food. Many guests felt the same way. Some even left at some point - and the staff didn't even notice. The restrooms were also dirty, there was no toilet paper, and the trash can was overflowing. When I pointed this out, they reacted with annoyance and asked me to stop talking. They'll take care of it. It's a shame - the place has incredible potential. However, if the issues mentioned do not change quickly, I see a bleak future.

Super delicious food, very friendly staff, nice atmosphere.

Beautiful place. That's what drew us there. I went with my mom and partner. Only my food was decent (not great). For the price I was expecting something really good. I don't understand where the good reviews come from. The staff, even though they seem like nice people, are kind of clueless about what they are doing. I think it's a problem of logistic and organisations, definitely a managerial problem and not the fault of the waiters/cooks. You need a better system, perhaps digitalised. Our table numbers was confused several times and they didn't even know what we ordered. Our drinks arrived after half an hour and our food after one and a half hours. My mom and partner couldn't finish their food, the meat was not good and the rest flavourless. I ordered the salmon which was at least decent, but not good for that price. Will not go again or recommend to anyone.

The home port has had a new owner since April 25th and offers Afghan food! The food is something completely different. It was delicious and there are great drinks. BUT : There are no German alternatives (we personally don't think that's a bad thing) but above all there are no children's meals either :( The employees were very friendly but unfortunately completely haphazard, overwhelmed and not organized! We made reservations by phone. That didn't work out, we were supposed to sit outside when it rained. We then sat down in the winter garden. But it still wasn't warm. After waiting for an hour, we received our food upon request. Partially! Things were forgotten to bring, which happened after 15 minutes. was subsequently submitted. It all took an extremely long time. No table service. Basically pay at the bar. The bar didn't even know what we actually had. We then canceled the starter after the main course because it still didn't come... The place was half empty, so I don't even want to know how crowded it is in the summer. I wish the owners that they can resolve their organizational problems as quickly as possible. The place definitely has potential!!

The restaurant is great. The food was very tasty and the portion size was perfect for enjoying a dessert after the main course. The service was very friendly. There is a really nice play area for children, which is unfortunately a rarity. I was definitely not here for the last time. Highly recommended.

Cozy restaurant by the water located in beautiful Schleußig. The Live-Laugh-Love design with a coastal touch a la "Moin Moin" may not be to everyone's taste, but the dishes bring it out! The only drawback: the potato wedges on the steak weren't completely cooked through and the fried potatoes on the schnitzel tasted more fried than fried. There was also a good slick of oil at the end on the plates. The spiced meat is highly recommended and the service was also excellent.

If there were more than 5 stars, I would happily place them here. The home port - a unique experience to consume. Located directly on the Karl Heine Canal, you can get the best harbor dishes from Leipzig and an unforgettable view. If someone comes from Leipzig or visits Leipzig, the home port should be visited at least once. - There is also something available for children or someone who doesn't eat fish. I can highly recommend the Jägerschnitzel or the “Greek Farmer” salad. 🤝🏻

The ambience is great. Very nice furnishings and the opportunity to sit in a kind of winter garden directly on the Elster. The service was also extremely nice. The choice of food really appealed to me personally, so the decision was difficult. In the end I decided on "The Captain" (see picture) and drank the magpie tea with it (ginger, lime, orange, honey). I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the tea. The food was also very tasty, even if the meat was a bit tough in several dishes. The price is a bit higher, but appropriate for the ambience and the food (€20-30 per meal). Definitely worth a visit, especially if you have the voucher booklet with 2 for 1 meals.

The service was very attentive and the atmosphere is very cozy. The food was tasty (upper midfield I would say), but I think the prices were pretty steep for what was on offer. A vegan vegetable curry (nothing special) costs 20 (!) euros, the vegetable bowl also costs just under 20 euros, and the tiramisu costs 9.20 euros. Therefore, for me it is not a restaurant that I will visit regularly because unfortunately it is simply too expensive.

The location is very nice on the canal. The food wasn't bad, but I've never been served a paper-thin beef schnitzel that had more pomade than meat. Doesn't live up to his recommendations.

Five of us spontaneously went for lunch. Three children there. Inconspicuous from the outside. The ambience inside is really very nice. We sat overlooking the canal. It was his first day as the operator, so not everything went smoothly, but he gave his all under the conditions. There is a large selection of non-alcoholic cocktails, these were delicious, as were the lemonades. The menu is also very varied. Everyone will find something here. The noodles could have had a little more bite. I had the fish on pasta with a white wine sauce, which I can only recommend. There is also a lunch offer for those on a tight budget. I can fully recommend a visit to the restaurant Small note: a child ordered vegan Bolognese. It had no mention of chili. So unfortunately not edible. We then swapped with each other. And please do not place women's hygiene products under the towel dispenser. You end up dripping tampons with your wet hands every time and tying them full, it doesn't have to be that way.

Pleasant atmosphere, a very good selection of food and drinks. Friendly, non-intrusive service. It's worth taking a look, it's inconspicuous from the outside but once you get through the archway you're in/at your home port.

Today we were in the home port of Kö around 12 p.m. The entrance somewhat hides the great ambience that awaits you behind the doors. We received a very friendly welcome and had free choice of seating. We then decided to go indoors, with a view of the white magpie. In my opinion, the furnishings are harmonious and support the great ambience. The menu offers a selection for everyone, whether vegetarian, with meat or for fish lovers. I think it's a good idea to complement certain dishes without meat or fish with something similar, so everyone can get their own taste. The house lemonades are highly recommended as they are delicious and refreshing. The plates are beautifully presented and I'm not lying when I say that I haven't eaten this well in a long time. I definitely want to and will come back here!

En verano nos sentamos afuera y vemos pasar los kayaks y en invierno optamos por estar adentro donde hace mucho más calor! Tiene una buena selección de bebidas y la comida es buena comida estándar en Leipzig.

I had a great stay in the home port today with my mother and my girlfriend. Very friendly employees, you could tell that they enjoyed their work. The food was very good. And it was also very nicely presented. The spatial ambience was very tastefully decorated. Simply a location and atmosphere that makes you feel good. Thank you, gladly again.

Highly recommended and a little insider tip. The restaurant is fairly inconspicuous and hidden in the back yard. When you enter the restaurant through the passage you think you are in another world. Idyllically located by the river with rustic charm. Not only a good place to go in summer, the fireplace in the “winter garden” also provides warmth and coziness in cooler temperatures. The ambience is great. The motto lake was implemented with great attention to detail. The map is sufficient and not too big. There's still a bit of everything there. The dishes on the menu have great names that make you smile. The food is delicious. I also think the price-performance ratio is appropriate. The service is friendly and also responded to special requests. I'm already looking forward to the next visit.

I was invited to a company anniversary party. I was pleasantly surprised by the quaintness of the location. We stayed on a veranda with a view of the water. Despite it being very busy, the food came promptly. Everyone enjoyed it. It's definitely not the last time I've been there.

Once you've found the entrance here, you don't want this idyllic place leave more. We immediately felt welcome. The super friendly service was only topped by the delicious food - or was it the other way around. We'd love to come back.

Food would be ok if it had what was on the menu and not something mixed together or overcooked. May be risky for allergy sufferers. Service knows why the guest is wrong instead of taking it with them as a suggestion. Caring for a surcharge is medieval. Ambiance is great.

The bowl was bottom drawer, carelessly thrown together salads, absolutely tasteless. The children's food was served carelessly on an orange plastic bowl, and even animals are not given a plastic bowl. Overall, a disgrace for the price. Drinks were made with lots of ice. We had a table right by the water, great atmosphere, but the flies definitely got the most damage while we were eating. The staff was friendly, but seemed stressed after 1 p.m. We definitely won't visit this restaurant again and can't recommend it in good conscience.

Maritime class in a very nice atmosphere right on the water! We were here for lunch with 10 people on a Saturday in August. PRE-ORDER recommended...! Pleasantly shady and cool in summer thanks to the direct proximity to the water. Very good dishes, always garnished with that certain something. Cold drinks, long drinks and cocktails are also very good. Ambience maritime-rustic and cozy. Waiting time is reasonable, especially worth it for the good quality. Fish dishes and vegetarian food are highly recommended! There is a play area in the restaurant for the children - very practical! We'll definitely be back!

I came to this restaurant to celebrate my son's birthday and my daughter's first year of school. We were recommended this place by my mother-in-law. When we arrived, the lady who welcomed us was very nice and hospitable. They have several menus to choose from, including a kids' menu. I ordered the bruschetta, and it was very delicious 🤤. The view by the lake is really good; if you're lucky, you'll get a table by the lake and can watch the boats and kayaks passing by.

The home port is one of the most beautiful places in Leipzig. The location right on the water, the loving furnishings and the nice conversations with the operator make it a truly exceptional place to have a nice and relaxing time. When we moved into an apartment around the corner a few years ago, we thought that this could become our local bar. Unfortunately that didn't happen. The quality of the food has noticeably decreased since the closures in 2020 and 2021/22. Among other things, the food wasn't really hot on several occasions. That's too bad. Unfortunately, the service has also deteriorated significantly: Despite my always friendly and patient demeanor, I have now experienced downright rude staff on several occasions. I was given the impression several times that I was not welcome because of the many guests. Small things, such as entering the terrace through the open sliding doors, are harshly reprimanded. Reservations for larger groups (5 to 10 people) were repeatedly a problem. Unfortunately, this no longer makes up for the really great friendliness of the operator. If the weather is good, I'll still try my luck again. The place is simply unique.

The Heimathafen is a very romantic, trendy and cozy restaurant that is also good to go to with children. There are weekly changing offers and a good main menu that I haven't worked my way through completely. You can also dock boats here for a stopover. The staff is super nice. Everything is very clean and lovingly designed. I like coming here. Attention: Be sure to reserve!

An absolute recommendation, the most beautiful neighborhood in Schleußig, with outstanding service and really very good food. A very finely tuned menu with everything good you could wish for. Located directly on the canal and lovingly furnished, with lots of little details to discover. Everything feels like a magical little pub in the neighborhood that invites you to linger and slow down. The staff is warm and very attentive. An absolute insider tip in the middle of Leipzig!!

Apart from a few "natives", hardly anyone will know that the "home port" was a bakery at the end of the eighties. Baker Paul left the bread baking and instead created this idyll with a pavilion, terrace and raft. A stroke of luck! Sitting here in a romantic evening atmosphere, eating (tartar) and drinking, watching the gondolier go by and just enjoying the moment. A special thank you goes to the friendly and considerate waitress with a “short hairstyle”. That's how service works!

In my opinion the best restaurant in Leipzig, a fantastic setting right on the canal. Super friendly staff and amazing food 😋 However, you should definitely make a reservation in advance as the restaurant only has limited capacity.

Delicious German cuisine, varied

Saturday lunchtime - 30 degrees, sun - so off to the home port of Kö! It was very well attended, but we quickly got a wonderful spot right on the canal. The service is really on point and humorous (Nordic charm guaranteed!). The homemade lemonades are absolutely recommended, really tasty! I ordered the fish fingers (as a children's portion, I was just in the mood for it) and my wife chose the waffles with ice cream - both dishes were excellent! Of course there were slight waiting times, but (great) people work there and not machines, that should be clear to everyone. So full marks! Great atmosphere at fair prices. Keep it up! :)

Here I can only give full marks. From the outside it seems inconspicuous at first, but once you land in the backyard, the true splendor unfolds. You feel a bit like you're on holiday on the Baltic Sea with a great view of the Elster. The whole thing is rounded off by a friendly and authentic chef as well as good cuisine that rounds everything off. This time I deliberately didn't take a photo of the map, there is so much inventiveness here that you have to see for yourself. Food: full marks, very tasty Service: despite being understaffed due to sick leave, always friendly and they take time for the guest Flair: fantastic, right on the Elster in the authentic harbor

We were looking for a restaurant where we could eat with the whole family, from 2 to 85 years old. The home port was very convenient for us, thanks to its wonderful connection directly to the tram. We were inspired by the positive reviews and loved what we were offered. Hardly visible from the outside, the home port turned out to be a wonderful little restaurant with cozy terraces, fairy lights and winter gardens that are suitable for any weather. We were warmly welcomed and looked after immediately. In addition to our reserved table, we also had the opportunity to sit outside on the terrace despite our large group. We were also impressed by the food. The menu offered a wonderful selection of fish dishes, vegetarian dishes and a children's menu. All the dishes impressed us, even the children's dish was prepared with love (homemade mashed potatoes, home-made breaded fish fingers). While we waited for the food, our little guest was able to have fun in a huge play area. Diapers, wet wipes and a changing table were also provided. We will be back and look forward to our next visit! Recommendation for big and small!

A wonderful atmosphere paired with very friendly staff and excellent dishes. I recommend making a reservation in advance and if you're lucky you'll get a table right on the canal with a great view. There is a season menu and many ingredients are sourced locally. We would love to come back🙂

As always, just beautiful. From the service to the view and the food anyway. A great restaurant at any time, whether the weather is good or bad. The children's play area and the changing facilities are a big plus!

Very cute restaurant with friendly service and very good food.

Super nice atmosphere, very nice, relaxed service and a charming, ironic boss. You get North German feelings. We came with the SUPs (the boss even helped us put them on) and ate and drank well. Another highlight was that sunscreen, mosquito spray, hairspray, deodorant and tampons were available in the toilet. Great, we'll be back.

Ambience great, staff nice, food well. What was ordered has nothing to do with what was served. 🌝 We accepted it like that but there is a better way. we will meet again. Ordered: the Far East trip (couscous with coconut curry vegetables and rump steak strips) Served: “Leipzig Couscous” 😁 i.e. rice with a curry sauce without coconut with "vegetables": potatoes and cauliflower and strips of rump steak.

A very nice atmosphere with great service. Unfortunately the cook ruins the whole thing a bit. The walleye was good. Unfortunately the beef was a disaster. It's a shame when the chef ruins so many of the restaurant staff's efforts. Chicken and beef can no longer be offered to customers these days.

I recommend visitors to be patient. Two beers, two coffees and a tea took 20 minutes to get to our table. The ashtray never came (had to get up and walk to the adjacent table to take it myself), and a children's portion of fish sticks with mashed potatoes arrived 1 hour after ordering in a tiny plastic plate. Don't come here unless you're ready to chase the staff and pay too much.

We went for a drink in the home port and were surprised by the bill. The schnapps that was recommended to us was significantly more expensive than the one we had chosen. We thought paying 33 euros for two beers and four short drinks was extremely excessive. When we asked, the boss told us that he wasn't aware of the price. We found something strange. We certainly won't be coming back!

Als wir auf unserer Bootstour am Heimathafen vorbei kamen, meinten mehrere: „Da sollten wir auch mal Essen.“ Wenig später saßen wir mit 26 Leuten im Pavillon. Schon die Vorspeise fanden alle sehr lecker, das Beste waren aber die Variationen aus dem Smoker - salmon, beef and cheese. Unser Dank geht an Marco und sein Team, für leckeres Essen, gemütliche Stunden und angenehmen Service :-)

The atmosphere right on the water with canoeists paddling past is very nice, and the staff is very nice. The bowl I had was pretty uninspired and tasteless: a loose, dry compilation of various salad vegetables and ingredients including dry, pure couscous without sauce, dip or similar. Price/performance wasn't right for me. I left half of it standing. The fresh apple pie and the house lemonade were delicious.

We had been back to our home port for a long time and were very disappointed. When you consider how expensive the food is, sometimes even more expensive than in the city center, and then you see such a dirty terrace, you can forget about the food. Otherwise, the staff is great and the food is well prepared and lovingly prepared. But please please please clean the terrace.

We were in the home port of Kö through an eat-the-world tour - they are a culinary partner. Even though we were a large group, we were allowed to occupy a table. We were given a sample of spiced meat, which was absolutely good. I haven't eaten seasoned meat for a long time and I don't regret it. The staff was very friendly even though we weren't regular guests. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy - strongly reminiscent of Hamburg, especially when you look at the canal. We'll definitely get it again. We recommend.
