Heiliggeist in Mainz

Yesterday I was accompanied to this restaurant for the first time and was thrilled by the ambience and atmosphere in this historic place. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm was severely dampened when the food arrived. I had venison goulash etc. and actually got a “children’s portion”. The quality was honestly excellent, but if I'm willing to pay a price of almost €30 for a dish like this, I want to be full. Because that is the primary reason for the visit. I don't want to (have to) order an additional desert to achieve this. Therefore, a significant point deduction for food. It's a shame, but that really disappointed me!

The employees are very friendly and I asked for a quieter table due to my handicap (I don't hear well). This was implemented really well, thank you very much :-) The food is delivered very quickly, good for our taste, but not so that we would go there again because of the food. Very nice location.

After asking twice, the main course was served after 70 minutes. The fries were rock hard and the cheapest kind, every McDonald's branch does a better job. The veal schnitzel was dry like a towel. All in all, the food was carelessly prepared. The fun was far from worth the €150 we left behind. Village pubs and sports centers are making more of an effort.

We were here for the first time today and it was really very good. A diverse selection on the menu. The portions were large enough so that everyone was satisfied. I can only recommend the truffle pasta! Really inexpensive. The service was also very friendly!

It is strange to eat in an ex-church. It was very tasty, good fresh ingredients which was reflected in the price. But the price and performance are right.

The Heiliggeist easily achieved 5 stars with its ambience. A former hospital converted into a restaurant with a lot of charm! For starters we ordered pumpkin soup and Mainzer Spundekäs with pretzels. The Spundekäs was awesome! The menu itself was medium in size and certainly has something for everyone. The truffle pasta was a 10/10. It was my first time eating a Coq au Vin and I was very excited about the dish. The red wine sauce with the chicken and mashed potatoes complemented each other perfectly! I would have preferred the carrots to have been cooked less, but that's a matter of taste. The chicken fell apart in your mouth and was just TOP! For dessert there was crème brûlée and cheesecake, which are also recommended! Ambience: 11/10 Service: 10/10 Food: 11/10 We will definitely come back and are already looking forward to it!

Das Heiliggeist hat mit seinem Ambiente 5 Sterne locker erreicht. Ein ehemaliges Krankenhaus umgebaut in ein Restaurant mit sehr viel Charme! Wir haben zur Vorspeise die Kürbissuppe und Mainzer Spundekäs mit Brezeln bestellt gehabt. Der Spundekäs war der Hammer! Die Menükarte an sich war Mittelgross und hat sicherlich für jeden etwas dabei. Die Trüffelpasta war eine 10/10. Ich habe zum ersten Mal ein Coq au Vin gegessen und war sehr gespannt auf das Gericht. Die Rotweinsauce mit dem Hühnchen und dem Kartoffelpüree hat sich perfekt ergänzt! Die Karotten hätte ich jetzt lieber weniger gekocht gehabt, jedoch ist das Geschmackssache. Das Hühnchen zerfiel auf der Zunge und war einfach TOP! Zum Nachtich gab es Crème brulée und Cheesecake, auch diese sind empfehlenswert! Ambiente: 11/10 Bedienung: 10/10 Essen: 11/10 Wir kommen aufjedenfall wieder vorbei und freuen uns jetzt schon!

Food and drinks are expensive and it is very loud

Perfect roast beef, generous amounts of truffles in the puree and on the tagliatelle, fast and attentive service. Certainly not on the cheap side in terms of price, but worth every cent. I really enjoyed the evening!

The fact that I, as a boy from Mainz, was in this restaurant for the first time was a mess. I didn't know what I was missing. Now I go more often. Promised.

Super tasty and the service is very attentive.

A uniquely special environment, how could they have gotten everything right? If you look up you see beautiful architraves for days, and you are all in a canteen style seating plan yet you feel utterly and totally at one in your experience. I take my hat off to Asad who made the evening even better by offering us schnapps to cap our night. Should you have a moment in Mainz, make sure to spend it at Heiiggeist.

Very hot in the restaurant and needed some air! Schnitzel was good but need sauces! Salad and soup were excellent! Waiter was amazing but food took too long- 45 min

Very nice, special atmosphere. Very friendly, attentive service. Particularly delicious food, everything freshly prepared and very large portions. Unfortunately it gets relatively loud when there are a lot of guests. I can still only recommend it! You have to experience this!

Lovely place, amazing food and an excellent service. Asaad (our waiter) was paying attention to every single detail. As appetizers we got the “Dreierlei” and the “Rindertartar” which for us was a 10/10. As main dish we got the “Linguine Trüffel” and the “Osso Bucco” (I ordered “Semmelschnitte” as supplement instead of “Kartoffelpüree”) which also were super tasty. The portions are considerable. We had an amazing dinner. i totally recommend it.

As a nurse I was really intrigued with the idea of having dinner in a hospital that was built in 1236. The building is beautiful and it was fun imagining the going on’s of a hospital in the 1300th century. The restaurant is also known for its Weimar schnitzel and it didn’t disappoint.

I write this under the effect of fever, but really I write this under the effect of nostalgia: I had a very nice date here a few months ago: I can't remember almost anything specific about the place other than that we were the last to leave. I think that, deep down, there is no need to describe anything else: if the place lends itself to getting lost in someone, it must be doing something right. Just a little expensive.

There were 9 of us and we were all very, very satisfied with the different starters and main courses. The prices are a little higher than in the surrounding area, but the quality and the unusual selection of dishes complemented by the professional service more than make up for it!

The quality of food does not match the high prices and the beautiful atmosphere. Always friendly staff who sometimes forget something and don't mind long waiting times from the kitchen.

Yesterday evening we were at the Heilig Geist again after a long time and were very happy that there was Croustarte again. It was just as delicious as before. We would be very happy if it remained on the menu!

The food was very good. Full marks would have been given if the service had been significantly better.

We made a short-term reservation with a large group via the website and got a great table outside. Drinks and food were really top. 10/10 - Tartare for starters; Schnitzel in the main course - the mashed potatoes with the red wine jus are also highly recommended. Service was also very good, we felt like we had 3 waiters at once. Best regards

Great friendly service, great ambience inside, very nice outside. Food okay, convenience food nicely presented. I wouldn't come specifically for that.

Unfortunately, I think the menu is a bit weak in terms of selection, but the food is of a good standard, and the service varies a lot depending on who you meet. But: What I really miss is the great breakfast menu from the 2000s and the delicious croustards. The new opening times are adapted to the missing breakfast. Very, very unfortunate.

The food and atmosphere at Heiliggeist are truly fantastic. In the past I was also very satisfied with the service, unfortunately it was no longer up to par during yesterday's visit. The waiting time for the first order was long and the waiters and waitresses also seemed overwhelmed in the outdoor area. You also had to wait patiently for further orders and it didn't look like structured work. Unfortunately, there was no longer any feeling of careful and good care here. Nevertheless, everyone was really friendly and you could tell that things were a bit uncomfortably slow for them. The evening was still really nice and I can highly recommend the restaurant. Unfortunately it's not enough for 5 stars this time, even though I would have liked to give it. I hope that things go smoothly again next time.

Eating in the Gothic vault, the most beautiful ambience I know. We often visit the Holy Spirit at longer intervals, especially with guests from abroad. The menu is somewhat reduced from previous dining experiences (particularly the Asian-inspired dishes are missing). But the food tastes excellent and vegetarians are also catered for. We had a lovely evening with very good service and would love to come back.

I have immediately reserved a table for the next meeting.

We enjoyed Steak Fries and the Dreierlei Dips, which were all phenomenal. The service was outstanding, especially our waitress, who was very encouraging with my young daughter who is just learning Deutsch. Although we wanted to see the inside, it was closed for a party, the Terrasse was excellent.

Always a great restaurant with a special flair. The food was again very tasty, very high quality and tasted very good. At 5.80 EUR for an open 0.2l wine and 7.60 EUR for a bottle of water is incomprehensibly high for me and therefore quite high in terms of price. The service is attentive, quick and very nice, especially our waiter Alex. We would love to come back!

Yesterday my friend and I visited this restaurant for the first time and I can now recommend it to my friends! The staff is very polite and friendly, the summer area is gorgeous and the stunning view of the restaurant inside is mesmerizing! We'll definitely come back and try something interesting from the menu! 💚💚💚😊

The service was not customer oriented at all. A booked order for outside was moved indoors due to the weather, only to be given the tables to another group outside 20 minutes later. Questions about whether we could sit outside were ignored. A very bad service.

We had, among other things, Homemade Lemonade and in the raspberry flavor I would have expected a fresh raspberry in the drink for the price in season. Complaining at a high level - the food was good.

Wir waren nach längerer Zeit mal wieder im Heilig Geist, mit dem wir bisher immer zufrieden waren. Leider war es eine einzige Enttäuschung. Angefangen beim Service; es dauerte 15 Minuten bis eine Flasche Mineralwasser an den Tisch kam; die gemeinsam bestellten (kalten) Vorspeisen kamen getrennt. Dier erste nach 20 Minuten, die Zweite nach 30 Minuten. Die Qualität des Essens war mäßig, nichts schmeckte frisch zubereitet. Der Zander zum Beispiel wirkte trocken und nach mäßiger Tiefkühlware. Mein Cesar Salad schmeckte langweilig und war teurer als im Bellpepper. (Die Mainzer wissen das einzuschätzen). Insgesamt zu teure Preise für nur mäßige Qualität. Wir werden nicht mehr hingehen.

It was a nice evening, the food was good, the building is great... unfortunately no one thought about the acoustics when setting it up, so it is very, very loud when a few tables are occupied... a bit of fabric or cushions would help. .

Great restaurant. The interior is particularly impressive. Very nice waiters and the dishes are great and kept simple.

It was our last night in Maintz and happened upon this restaurant. The atmosphere was beautiful and the food was superb, in particular the salad was bright and full and the schnitzel was delicious. Gabi our server was great, giving us space to finish our food and allow us to have our conversation. 10/10 recommend.

A beautiful, historic building with a lot of history. The ambience is modern, cozy, with pleasant music in the background and birdsong! on the toilet.. The service is quick, very friendly and helpful... The food is of very good quality, the croustard is a must as a starter!!! It can also be shared. You feel very comfortable and are invited to linger! We'd love to come back

An institution in Magunz for a long time. Now more of a tourist hotspot. Long waiting times until ordered meals were brought to the table (outside area). Quality is okay, it was and is getting better, especially at the prices asked. Service staff tried hard, orders were questioned several times.

Amazing location and great food and wine selection. The interior is nicely designed and the staffs are nice however rather slow. If you are not in a hurry then thats not a problem! Otherwise a great place to visit with friends or colleagues for dinner!

Holy Spirit is a special place to eat. A special ambience awaits you. Due to the vaulted ceilings, it is a little louder in the Holy Spirit - but I'm happy to accept that here.

Yesterday we had dinner at the Heiliggeist in Mainz with 12 colleagues from our company and had a great time! Service: The service was simply top! The staff was super friendly and attentive. No wish remained unfulfilled and the recommendations were exactly right. Eat: The food was amazing. Each of us had something different and everything was delicious. Fresh, perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. We found the creative dishes, which were still somehow traditional, particularly cool. Ambiance: The ambience at the Heiliggeist is just wow. The historic location is totally impressive and the modern furnishings make it super comfortable. Just the right place for a relaxed dinner, whether for business or pleasure. Our evening in the Holy Spirit was a complete success. We felt totally comfortable and were well looked after. Many thanks to the whole team for this great evening. We will be back definitely!

I've brought groups here twice now and it's always a hit. We love the menu. Christina was so friendly this visit, the staff is so welcoming as a whole. The terrace is so relaxing during the summer months. A favorite!

Had a wonderful meal! The setting is beautiful in an old Church hospital. Delicious traditional German food. Our server was Victoria, who was delightful, and we loved everything we ordered. Had a delicious bottle of Riesling, Kuhling-Gillor! Yum.

I recently had the pleasure of organizing an event for 60 people in Heiliggeist and all I can say is that our experience was absolutely outstanding. From the start the service was first class. I would particularly like to highlight Mr. Asad Yonan, who looked after us throughout the entire evening. His professionalism, friendliness and attention to detail contributed significantly to making our event run so smoothly and pleasantly. Despite the large group, Mr. Yonan managed to fulfill every request promptly and always acted with a smile. The food was exquisite, the atmosphere was pleasant and the entire team was very committed. Every request was dealt with promptly and efficiently, and Mr. Yonan personally made sure everything was perfect. I can highly recommend Heiliggeist, be it for a large event or a cozy dinner. A big thank you to Mr. Asad Yonan and the entire team for an unforgettable evening!
