Unfortunately, the portions are very small, and they list things on the menu that you can't get at all. The city sausage was listed on the menu with egg and fried potatoes for €16.90, but I got a piece of city sausage with a small handful of roasted potatoes, which is actually ridiculous for that price. My husband ordered minced steak with bread and fried potatoes, and of course, mini portions of potatoes for an extra €5, without bread. Simple food that's simply overpriced. Once and never again.....

Food was not satisfactory especially given the price. In addition, they charge extras like salad or potatoes additionally. The price for a steak is for meat only, beware. Not recommended.

A small but very fine wine restaurant in Mainz. We were booked with nine people. The welcome was warm and welcoming, typical of the Rhineland. We served a three-course menu, with personal requests catered to. The food was delicious, and the accompanying wines were truly delicious. The value for money is absolutely excellent. We spent a very pleasant evening at Weinhaus Wilhemi. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to Mainz.

We had a reservation and received a very friendly welcome. We sat outside, and the arrangements were quickly and easily rearranged, as there were more of us than planned (when fewer people turned up, they rearranged them according to our wishes). The first drinks arrived quickly. The service was very attentive. A smile was appropriate for the waitress – I'd love more of them. The landlady was present and always friendly. The food was delicious. Everything was tasty and fresh. An all-around successful evening. We'll be back. The dining room feels like it's stepped out of time – it has a lot of charm and is inviting. The outdoor area, in contrast, seems very plain. But the landlady rounded off the evening with a heartfelt touch.

We stopped by for a glass of wine. The atmosphere was fantastic. We received very friendly service, and the manager came to our table herself to ask if everything was okay. Great! We'd love to come back.

A wonderful and welcoming restaurant where we'd happily return. We visited as part of a package deal arranged through the tourist office. The landlady welcomed us like regulars and looked after us throughout the evening. It was simply wonderful. The quality of the food and drinks was absolutely outstanding.

The ambiance is beautiful, but you also have to be aware that there's a possibility that the whole place is in the back. Two restaurants share the space here, but an Italian restaurant is in the front. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. We had garlic bread according to the menu, which unfortunately had nothing to do with garlic bread. It was a slice of bread with olives, peppers, spring onions, a touch of garlic, and baked with cheese. The pork neck steak was listed on the menu with a portion of fried potatoes. The potatoes were boiled and lightly fried, but they were charged extra, and the portion was very small. The sausage salad was served with bread. I also opted for fried potatoes, which weren't served instead of bread as advertised, but were charged extra, and the slice of bread wasn't included either. The sausage salad contained olives, so the whole salad took on that flavor. The drinks, unfortunately, weren't really cold.

When I visit my friend in Mainz, we usually go here. The ambiance is rustic and authentic, the food is delicious, and the wine selection, while not extensive, is very good. The portions are quite generous overall, including the wine. The service is very friendly, especially the owner and his wife (?) themselves.

Truly the most beautiful wine bar in all of Mainz. Mrs. Schickert, the landlady, is a wonderful and caring woman. She always tries to find a table for everyone. A valuable tip: make a reservation in advance by phone 😉 The staff is always great and welcoming!!!!! Here, the guest truly is king ❣️

Greeted by a delightful lady we immediately sit down in this hidden restaurant but still in the center of Mainz. I had a sort of green pepper meatloaf with the inevitable baked potatoes. Sublime beef, well cooked. For dessert, a plate of warm rhubarb fruit salad served with vanilla ice cream, not to my taste but still edible. Apart from the exorbitant cost of water, the prices are average.

It was late, around 9.30pm but the lady welcomed us calmly for dinner. The place is nice, a bit retro style and mainly made of wood. The food is good and the raw materials are of medium quality, we took some seasoned goat's cheese and some meat with potatoes, and everything was good and digestible. I wasn't crazy about the dessert, a hot rhubarb salad with ice cream.. The prices are high, for two second courses with side dish and dessert plus water they are close to €70! The lady who serves the tables is very nice and gracious.

Very cramped and old-fashioned furnishings. Maybe that's what makes it so charming. Price-performance unfortunately a catastrophe. Small portions, average food and very expensive prices. Plus the wine spritzer for €6.50, something like that isn't possible, especially in Mainz. Unfortunately it was the first and last time.

I was completely impressed by Weinhaus Wilhelmi! The Spundekäs was wonderfully creamy, the minced steak with fried potatoes was perfectly fried and full of flavor. The crowning finale is the crème brûlée with fresh berries – simply heavenly! Kudos to whoever prepared this. Here we cook with passion and skill. I'll definitely be back!

Giving it 5 Stars for the service and experience of dining there. Visited on a Saturday evening during February carnival. Lots of locals in interest costumes from the 17th & 18th century. In terms of food: schnitzel (average portion size, but good taste) & salad (generous size, with meat). Both on the high end of the cost range though... Staff speak English and are friendly. Apparently the place has a long tradition for carnival activities and a mini museum on the first floor, which was interesting.

High prices in my opinion. Wonderfully entertaining, especially at carnival time.

Went there for the first time with friends. The atmosphere is a classic wine house. Everything is a little tight - but 100% suitable. The service staff were very attentive!! The menu is short, but that certainly doesn't have to be a disadvantage. Unfortunately, my meal was very boring and served without any "whistle" - but the portion was very large. None of the four of us were really impressed. Important: Only partially recommended for people with walking difficulties because of the spiral staircase to the first floor or down to the toilets.

The sausage was very tasty and the side dishes were also perfectly balanced. Sitting in the room is rustic and comfortable and even the toilets are lovingly decorated with candles and flowers.

It was a very nice place. The food was marvelous, and the desserts were also great. If you have the chance, order the tiramisu—it was fantastic. The staff were very helpful and managed to find a table for us, even though it was a crowded and busy evening.

I'm a vegetarian and had low expectations of getting something vegetarian here, but the reality was that there was no garlic bread and no vegetarian main dish (sheep's cheese with vegetables), apart from the fact that it was the only one on the menu. I then got a modified scrambled egg dish Very heartlessly seasoned, 15€ was really cheeky

The food tastes okay but the prices are ridiculously high. I paid 18 euros for potato pancakes with salad and not even 50g of salmon, even though the menu says SALMON with potato pancakes. The whole portion wasn't even 400g, apart from that. There were only 7 dishes available from the 1 page long menu. Definitely not a recommendation

I ordered a rump steak medium rare and it came to the table raw and I let it go back. The kitchen then put the same steak back in the pan and brought it back and it was done and not medium. I was hungry, I was hungry for that, €29 is cheeky

You can drink wine well, but you can forget about eating.

One of the few old, cozy wine houses in Mainz with a very nice atmosphere. Most places are upstairs. The food is down-to-earth. I would have imagined and wished that my large salad with fried pork stomach was larger. The sausage was ok, the salad was medium sized at best, but tasty and had a good homemade dressing.

We came here with 5 guys on a Saturday evening at 6pm ahead of the crowd. One meal came with the sides of another. After that they managed to forget one meal and did not even care. Just after mentioning they tried to fix, but didn’t deliver before everyone finished on the table while bringing the same dish to other tables. Overall an unpleasant experience for the prices they charge. We are from the region and would never come back. I can not recommend to people visiting from far away.

A Weistube that has been around since 1894 with old furniture, a lot of history and an impressive carnival history. Food and drink are top Roihessian.

La façade de ce restaurant ne paie pas de mine, c'est une partie discrete d'un beau bâtiment ancien qui contient plusieurs restaurants, mais la (petite) salle est chaleureuse, surtout celle du 1er et, bonus énorme en été, la cour intérieure de l'immeuble entier devient une terrasse calme et à l'abri du soleil pour tous les restaurants, chacun sa surface. On ne peut rien dire sur la qualité du service, et surtout de sympathie de la maîtresse de maison, omniprésente et gage de la reussite de la soirée. Les vins blancs locaux sont exquis et abordables, le seul petit défaut serait la qualité des plats, un peu décevante au vu de tout le reste. Cela ne nous a pas empêchés de passer une très agréable soirée.

The Spundekäse was fantastic! In addition, the schnitzel was top notch and the potatoes that accompanied the schnitzel was the best I've had in Germany! Pleasant atmosphere, as well!

This restaurant was very homey, from the outside it looked small but it actually had 3 floors and was quite busy for a Monday. Schnitzel and potatoes were amazing but priced at 23 euros. I wanted to try the palatinate delicacy saumagen though tasted like regular sausage to me (still worth trying though if you're in mainz) . Reisling Wine was sweet and lovely. Great dinner but a bit pricey

Even people from Mainz go there, my colleagues told me beforehand. And I was not disappointed. The food was delicious, the service good. When it came to the wines, I would have expected a little more from the region, but it was fine.

We were there before a concert in the Rheingoldhalle. The home-style food and the Rhine-Hessian dishes were good. The service was very attentive. The restaurant in the old building is always very busy and offers the ambience of a cozy wine bar from the last century. You can park directly opposite in the parking garage under the town hall. There are bus stops in all directions right around the corner.

Overall, a really nice Mainz wine house with good food. But the price-performance ratio is not right. In particular, the portion of herring with fried potatoes was very expensive and, given the amount, was downright outrageous.

Delicious Meenz home cooking, friendly and warm owner. Unfortunately, everything was very cramped and therefore often very crowded and loud. Unfortunately there are hardly any vegetarian options besides salad.

We really enjoyed our annual get together on the first Friday of the Christmas Market. The owner, and her staff are so wonderful! Perfect friendly service, so rare these days! Food and wine were excellent. We’ll be back again soon…..

It's cosy, charming, warm and has murals on the walls. The menu is amazing and I regret that I came after dinner just for a glass of wine. I loved that there is no music and conversations from couples and groups around you fill the pauses at your own table. The other patrons and staff were very friendly! Looking forward to coming here again.

The place is pretty cramped, the food very plain and tasteless, service was reasonably fast but kind of blunt.

Bestes Weinhaus in Mainz. Tolles Ambiente, super Essen, traditionelle und lokale Weine. Der Service unter der langjährigen Inhaberin ist absolut Weltklasse. Pure Leidenschaft. Als regelmäßiger Stammgast kommen wir immer gerne wieder zurück, da wir wissen, wir werden nicht enttäuscht. Die Tradition, der Lokalkolorit und die Liebe zur Gastronomie sowie die Qualität machen das Wilhelmi einzigartig.

Vorzügliches Essen, das liebevoll und gekonnt zubereitet wird. Wir hatten das Schnitzel, das einfach köstlich war. Luftige Panade und weiches Fleisch. Mit knusprigen Bratkartoffeln und einem Beilagensalat, dessen Dressing einfach super abgestimmt war. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und gleichzeitig dezent. Urige, ehrliche Atmosphäre, gut gemischte Weinschorle und erlesene Weine. Klare Empfehlung.

Das Ambiente ist nett, gewiss. Aber bei einem mehrgängigen Menü mit Weinbegleitung würde man schon die Kompetenz erwarten, dass der Wein mit dem Gericht und nicht danach kommt. Der Saumagen schmeckt wie Fleischkäse, der offenbar aufgewärmte und mitnichten frische Braten wird unter einer gnädigen Käsekruste versteckt und mit TK-Gemüse kredenzt und das Eis schmeckt nicht nach Vanille. Ich würde das Lokal für ein Glas Wein mit Brotzeit empfehlen, aber nicht in Erwartung eines wirklich guten Essens. Grosse Erwartung, herbe Enttäuschung.

Ein Lokal in bester Lage in Mainz. Sowohl die Weinauswahl als auch die Speisekarte sind sehr gut. Der Service war wirklich toll. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Ingesamt ein wirklich sehr mittelmäßiges bis schlechtes Erlebnis. Es fing leider schon beim Finden unserer reservierten Plätze an etwas chaotisch zu werden. Nachdem wir unsere Plätze gefunden hatten wurde uns leider eine sehr süße - aber scheinbar trotzdem trockene Weinschorle - serviert (Geschmacksache, aber nicht mein Fall). Das Essen war auch nicht schlecht, aber auch definitiv nichts weltbewegendes. Zuletzt wurden einige Getränkebestellungen durcheinander gebracht bzw. falsche Getränke serviert. Ich würde dieses Lokal leider nicht nochmal besuchen. Mainz bietet hier sehr viel schönere und organisiertere Locations.

Tolle Lage, freundliche Bedienung, leckere Weine und regionale Küche. Wir hatten für 12 Personen reserviert und die Wahl, drinnen oder draussen zu sitzen. Wir saßen draussen, sehr nett, ein toller Abend, vielen Dank!

Mein Lieblingslokal in Mainz. Frau Schickert und das gesamte Servicepersonal sind sowas von gastfreundlich und herzlich. Man fühlt sich hier wie zu Hause. Das Essen ist super und das Ambiente ist mit Liebe gefüllt. Ein Muss bei jeden Mainzbesuch.

We tried our luck without a reservation and found a seat on the 2nd floor. The atmosphere is better and more cozy on the ground floor, but not bad on the 2nd floor either. The place seems to be very busy and popular. Our main problem with the place were the prices. As mentioned in another review, the prices were recently increased, to a level considerably above that of similar places in Mainz. The food must be called very expensive for what you are getting, which just average in both quality and quantity. So if you are looking for a cozy place with good atmosphere and a good selection of wines, this is not a bad place. If you are looking for good and / or reasonably priced food, look elsewhere.

Leider hat die Weinstube die Preise unverhältnismäßig stark erhöht! Als Paar muss man schon 50€ pro Person mit Haupt- und Nachspeise, sowie Wein rechnen! Das war vor kurzem nicht so teuer. Wir hatten Schnitzel bzw Wurstsalat mit Brot bestellt, stattdessen aber Bratkartoffeln bekommen, die auch wieder extra berechnet wurden! Schade, weil ansonsten Ambiente und Personal sehr gut sind.

Uriges Weinlolal. Etwas beengt, aber schöne Weinauswahl und leckeres Essen. Besonders Salat sehr zu empfehlen.

Der "urige" Scharm dient hier als Deckmantel für eine Touristenfalle. Als Einheimischer geht man selten in solche Lokalitäten und vor kurzem bekam ich auch mal wieder die Bestätigung warum. In Mainz für eine Weinschorle 6€ zu verlangen ist schon wirklich frech. Alles in allem haben wir für 3 Personen knapp 110€ bezahlt und dabei war das Essen jetzt nichts weltbewegendes. Die sehr unfreundliche ältere Dame gabs als Bedienung zumindest gratis dazu. Kann hier nur dringend abraten sein Geld aus dem Fenster zu schmeißen, da gibt es sehr viel andere weitaus bessere und günstigere Weinhäuser in Mainz.

Ausgezeichnetes Lokal mit typischen lokalen Gerichte. Nettes Personal. Ein Ort an dem man sich wohl fühlt.

Perfect place for a genuine German restaurant experience. Local patrons. Upstairs has an impressive collection of medals and military artifacts. If you do not speak German — good luck. They reluctantly handed over an English menu and first gave us the most unattractive table near the kitchen entrance. But rectified when we commented. I left like a tourist in Japan - not Japanese? Go to the back where we can hide you. If you are a vegetarian you picked the wrong place. If you want fish, you picked the wrong place. This is a German restaurant full stop.

Malgré ma lourde insistance lors de la prise de commande (en allemand comme en anglais) pour cuisson de viande bleue, celle-ci m'est arrivée à point ! J'ai demandé à ce qu'on me change mon assiette, ce qui a été fait sans broncher, le personnel de service gêné, l'erreur venant de toute évidence de la cuisine. Sans quoi l'ensemble était correct.

We had a fabulous dinner there with very welcoming and friendly service. The food was good, the wine list was amazing with loads of wines by the glass, the setting in the terrace was atmospheric and relaxing. We realised that the English menu is a little different from the German menu. So if you want to try some traditional German dishes which you can't find in the English menu, just ask if they have it anyway. You might be surprised. And this is a MUST GO if you are in Mainz. Sit in the terrace.

Nach Besuch der Weinstube habe ich mich gefragt, ob die Wirtsfamilie das mir zugemutete Essen auch essen würde. Es war teilweise verbrannt und auch ansonsten kein kulinarischer Höhepunkt.

Eng-urig-klein-gemütlich.......einzigartiges Ambiente einer im besten Sinne so bezeichneten alten Weinstube, die in ihrer Authenzität ihresgleichen sucht. Für Leute, die Althergebrachtes mögen, ein kleines Paradies. Die Gastgeberin (ich mag für die Dame nicht "Wirtin" sagen) aufmerkam und charmant. Essen und Trinken so, wie es in einer gutbürgerlichen Gastronomie sein soll, keine Highlihts, aber grundanständig und gut.

Sehr freundliche Bewirtung. Die Speisen sind sehr gut, ausreichend und gut angerichtet. Die Weinauswahl ist angemessen, sowie die Preise. Reservierungen mit Wünschen werden gerne entgegengenommen. Und wenn mal kein Einzeltisch für zwei frei ist: hier setzt man sich gerne zusammen. Also Platz ist immer! Meine absolute Empfehlung!
