I drank a cup of coffee ☕️ which tasted very good.

We were there this evening, just the two of us. The ambiance is lovely, there's art on display, and the service was very attentive, courteous, and friendly! Both dishes had a bit too much chili, and the baked tomato was slightly overcooked, but it still tasted good. The presentation was beautiful, and it was great that we could order vegan food here. The table for two is too small for a comfortable meal, and after an hour, my feet got cold sitting on the ground floor near the passageway. Nevertheless, it's a nice place and worth a visit, even though there were hardly any other guests.

Friendly, spontaneous, innovative and very tasty

After a visit to the opera, we spontaneously stopped by for a glass of wine just before the curfew. We received a warm welcome and were offered a very good red wine from a fantastic wine list. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. A very good address here in Chemnitz.

Unfortunately it was closed. What a shame.

The kitchen officially closes at 10 p.m. on Fridays. However, no new guests are accepted after 9:10 p.m.

We actually wanted something small to eat or a piece of cake with coffee, but unfortunately both were not possible at that time (around 2 p.m.)... very unfortunate

The location on the street is very noisy and the prices, especially for drinks, are very high.

The vegan dishes are unusual and very tasty, and the service is flexible when it comes to special requests ;)

Update: After we expressed our dissatisfaction (at the request of the head waiter), we were offered a lunch menu (on the house). And it was really good! ———————- We came here for lunch with high expectations (enthusiastic recommendation) and were very disappointed: -There is no lunch menu as advertised on the website (we were there on a Wednesday), -We were given the bistro menu instead and found something we liked, -After we ordered, the bistro menu was suddenly no longer available, and we were asked to choose from the regular menu (e.g., carpaccio as an appetizer for €16 instead of €8). Conclusion: Not very professional; the management should update their website.

A place with a certain something Our first visit was here and we were truly pleasantly surprised! Both the food and service are excellent. You can tell the food is still freshly cooked here. Delicious! The artistic decor gives the place its own unique charm; highly recommended! In summer, the terrace is also a wonderful place to sit. It's great that restaurants like this still exist! We will definitely be back.

Ein kleines feines Restaurant mit einer angenehmen Außengastronomie. Das Essen hat wunderbar geschmeckt und auch sonst gibt es viel Geistreiches mit viel Witz an den Wänden zu sehen. Das Personal ist sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gern wieder.

Central location, very nice atmosphere, and very good food. Unfortunately, the coffee machine was turned off before the meal was finished.

I asked the hotel to reserve a table for me. When I arrived they told me that they didn't receive a reservation, but I was present when the hotel called. They here to my German that I wasn't from the country. So they said to put me on a small garden table were there is only place to put some drinks. It was not a dinner table. So the waiter showed me another table, but the manager refused to let me sit down. So I left the restaurant and heared the manager saying good. I am used to go to restaurants which are in a higher class. But what I have experienced here not acceptable.

We had lunch on Saturday. A friendly young man informed us that due to a lack of kitchen staff, only a few dishes were available. We opted for the pasta with shrimp in Pernot butter – an absolute dream, couldn't have been made better. It's great that there are still places like this. Others wouldn't have served anything. The location is a bit cramped, but otherwise great. Friendly service, the food is delicious and simply something different, not your run-of-the-mill fare, a good wine list, and you can take in the art surrounding you. Overall, a great restaurant.

The food was fantastic... unfortunately, the staff were a bit stressed, and we were given a seat on the ground floor instead of the upstairs one. It wasn't that nice, and we also found the restrooms pretty ugly.

Wir waren im März und im Mai hier. Die Erfahrungen decken sich. Das Ambiente ist originell. Der Service ist sehr freundlich, gelegentlich etwas unaufmerksam. Alle Gerichte waren von guter Qualität und sehr gut präsentiert. Leider waren die Hauptgerichte ausnahmslos bereits beim Servieren recht kalt. Im März waren wir erst relativ spät im Restaurant, weshalb die Nachbartische bereits für den nächsten Tag eingedeckt wurden,während wir noch beim Essen waren. Ziemlich störend. Insgesamt ein leider nur mittelmäßiger Eindruck angesichts der recht hohen Preise.

Over the years of our visits to Chemnitz, we've almost always managed to stop by Heck-Art. Whether with or without food, it's always worth a visit and has something special about it. Last time (March 20, 2025), we went for dinner with friends, and the four of us were all thrilled with the service (thanks to Adrian, who mastered his task with aplomb), the food, and the cozy atmosphere! Sure, the prices aren't the cheapest, but anyone who wants to enjoy first-class quality and a special evening should definitely go to Heck-Art. A beautiful restaurant with great food. The service staff are very friendly and competent. I was also impressed by the art on the walls of the restaurant.

The dishes were not only very tasty but also lovingly prepared. In our opinion, the higher price is justified because you can get slightly different dishes here and the attention is in the details. If you have any questions, you will get a proper answer from the chef and he is open to comments. The service was very friendly and attentive. One point was deducted because everything took a little longer, so we were there for 3 hours. The portions are sufficiently large. After a 4-course meal, you leave the restaurant feeling well-fed. All in all we were very satisfied, a visit there is a special experience and recommended.

Beim Betreten des Heck-Art war das Bistro im Erdgeschoss brechend voll. Die feine Gesellschaft von Chemnitz gönnte sich ein paar Pre-Theatre-Bits&Bites. Und natürlich Drinks. Alle hatten sich fein angezogen, nicht so wie in Berlin. Wo es einen Wettbewerb zu geben scheint, wer am nachlässigsten gekleidet Oper und Theater aufsucht. Wir zogen in die 1. Etage in das Restaurant. Sehr gediegen alles. Und für rund 45 EUR bekommst du hier ein opulentes 3-Gänge Menü mit allem Schnick und Schnack. Und zwar Portionen, die eigentlich auch für Zwei reichen würden. Da steckt richtig Materialeinsatz dahinter - auch von im Einkauf richtig teuren Schmankerln wie Jakobsmuscheln. Ein sehr guter Deal das Menü. Dazu ein wunderbarer offener Rosé für nicht ganz billige 18 EUR pro halbem Liter (dieser hätte gern ein wenig kühler serviert werden können). Zum Käseteller (den man alternativ zum Dessert im Menü wählen kann), gab's dann natürlich einen gut passenden offenen Roten. Ein wunderbarer Abend war das im Heck-Art - nur 5 Gehminuten vom Chemnitzer Hof entfernt .

For me, this is the best place in Chemnitz. In addition to the excellent wine and food, the service and atmosphere give a high mood. I sat on the street terrace on a nice day, but also visited the 2nd floor where the gallery is located. On the 2nd floor, you will not be served by waiters, but they will kindly bring what you ordered earlier. Solitude with a glass of wine and paintings will bring you spiritual fulfillment. Out of the corner of my eye, I glanced at their second floor, where there are rooms for events, probably.

For my wife and I, Heck-Art is the best restaurant in Chemnitz and the surrounding area. We also celebrated our wedding there and it was a wonderful day! All the guests are still raving about the location and the sensational food. The chef and his fantastic team put together a fantastic menu for us according to our wishes and made our vision even better with his expertise. The service team is friendly, competent and always available for a chat. The interior changes frequently for different art exhibitions, which is why Heck-Art is always worth a visit. The menu and menu change frequently and are always of high quality. Heck-Art is also always the right place for vegans, as there is always a vegan menu and menu items. The wine list is top. I would actually like to give the house 7 stars.

Top food. The monkfish was very good. Unfortunately the service didn't work. Lots of little mistakes that shouldn't happen here. Still a nice evening and recommendation for Chemnitz.

Wir fühlen uns immer toll bedient und sehr wohl. Das gesamte Team hat es verdient hiermit einmal gewürdigt zu werden.

Wir waren im Obergeschoss mit Freunden und hatten einen sehr schönen Abend. Das Ambiente finden wir sehr gut, die kleine Karte mit den erlesenen Speisen hat Alle sowohl bei Vorspeise, Hauptgang und auch Dessert überzeugt. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam. Für uns hat das Gesamtbild, auch mit dem höheren Preisniveau gepasst. Wir kommen gern wieder.

This small and artistically valuable restaurant impresses with its Becker and inspiring other cuisine. In addition to a seasonal menu, there is also a variety of daily specials and other delicious dishes. Especially in summer, the outdoor area invites you to linger. We enjoyed a fantastic à la carte dinner. A three or four course menu would also have been available. We would love to come back and can only warmly recommend it.

The atmosphere is a bit disturbed by the very nearby road and the surrounding work, but otherwise fine.

Higher-priced, classy restaurant with a small but good menu, very pleasant service. The restaurant is located in the only old building between lots of GDR prefabricated buildings. The house was preserved or rebuilt because Fritz Hecker lived here. The restaurant is also centrally located and worth a visit. The 1 missing star is because of the very small selection.

We had a very nice evening at an organized event with an excellent asparagus menu and friendly, attentive service in the restaurant's usual very appealing and artistic ambience.

Great food! Not only beautifully prepared but also super tasteful. The greeting from the kitchen was a bit of a blast. The service was quick and very nice, thanks to the nice weather it was possible to sit outside and the service was great there too. The only star deducted from the ambience is and probably remains the busy street with the unfortunately high volume of police and ambulances. Nevertheless, it is very beautifully made and exudes a pleasant calm.

Spontan zum vorgezogenen Abendessen. Leider im Erdgeschoss und nicht in der Bel Etage. Die Bedienung freundlich und kompetent, das Ambiente hat im Erdgeschoss Bistro Charakter. Alle Speisen waren handwerklich von guter Qualität.

A highlight restaurant in the modern city! Excellent dishes are beautifully served. Top service and a warm, feel-good atmosphere rounded off our visit. Definitely recommended.

Sind mit hohen Erwartungen auf Grund von Empfehlungen gekommen. Essen war leider sehr uninspiriert und unserer Meinung nach auch nicht den Preis wert, der hier aufgefahren wird. 25€ für Tagliatelle mit Dosen Artischocken, getrockneten Tomaten und Rinderspitzen. Alles sehr ölig und irgendwie wenig inspiriert gewürzt. Das Tagesgericht mit Seitlingen und Rösti war ok. Gemüse war zerkocht. Rösti kennen wir jedoch deutlich anders… Die Erbsensuppe war fein und wohl das Beste am ganzen Essen. Kleiner Salat für 9€?! Insgesamt haben wir ewig auf alles gewartet. 1h auf eine Suppe… 45min auf die Hauptspeise. Die Bedienung war jedoch nett, zuvorkommend und das Ambiente schön. Gault Millau ist’s auf jeden Fall schon lange nicht mehr 🙁 Schade. Feedback wurde noch patzig aufgefasst.

Nach längerer Zeit mal wieder nach Chemnitz gefahren, für ein besonderes Dinner mit Mama...und es war sehr besonders. Vom Service, der sehr professionell ist, über das Ambiente, die Geschmäcker und sogar die dezente Hintergrundmusik...das Heck-Art weiß schon immer, wie es geht, und die Qualität bleibt und bleibt und bleibt. Tolles Essen, gestresste Bedienung

Wir waren am Freitag dort und haben draussen gesessen. Draussen sitzt es sich sehr schön. Die beleuchteten Schirme sind super. Tische sind toll eingedeckt. Drinnen fand ich die EInrichtung nicht so schön. Sieht eher wie eine Kneipe aus als an feines Restaurant. Der Service war super. Zuvorkommenden, nicht aufgezwungen, kompetent. Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Da gab es nichts zu bemängeln. Die Kombination und auch die Auswahl der GErichte ist excellent. Was mir nicht gefallen hat und für mich auf Auffalend ist und deshalb auch keine 5 Sterne: -Die Weinkarte ist sehr teuer. Weine für 35 Euro die im Einkauf unter 10 Euro kosten passt mir so gar nicht. -Gin Tonic war mit Limonenwasser gemacht. Und nicht schön im Glas präsentiert. -Es war nichts los und hat trotzdem lange gedauert. -Die Preise sind für eine Stadt wie Chemnitz schon krass. Für das was es darstellen will vielleicht angemessen. Aber für das wo sich das Haus befindet und was es bietet eindeutig zu teuer. Der Service ist hiervon ausgesprochen ausgenommen. Service war top. Edit: Ich bin selbst Gastronom und kann den Aufschlag von 19 Euro auf eine Flasche Wein nicht nachvollziehen. Siehe Antwort Heck-Art. Das Restaurant oben habe ich tatsächlich nicht wahrgenommen. Beim nächsten mal mit fairer Preis Kalkulation :-)

Ein rundum tolles Restaurant. Der Service is super und auch wenn die Preise etwas höher sind, spiegelt sich das zu jeder Zeit in der Qualität wider. Es gibt sehr tolle und hochwertige vegane Alternativen. Das vegane Gericht war wahrscheinlich das Beste, was ich je außerhalb gegessen habe. Wir kommen wieder!

Wir waren, heute auf Grund eines Geburtstages, im Heck Art essen. Voller Vorfreude haben wir unser Essen bestellt und uns auf einen gemütlichen Abend, mit leckeren Essen gefreut. Als die Speisen kamen sah alles sehr schön angerichtet aus. Als ich mein Essen probierte, stellte ich schnell fest, dass meine Kartoffeln noch total roh waren. Ich probiere einen zweiten und auch dieser war noch nicht fertig gekocht. Ich wartete bis der Kellner kam und reklamierte das Gericht, denn für 34€ erwarte ich super Qualität. Der Kellner kam kurze Zeit später und sagte das sich die Küche darum kümmern wird. Dann dauerte es ca 10 Minuten und mein gleicher Teller kam mit “Neuen” Kartoffeln und der Kellner meinte das diese festkochende Kartoffeln sind, dies sollte er von der Küche aus sagen. Das Schnitzel, der Spargel und der Schinken waren mittlerweile kalt, da diese Speisen nicht getauscht oder warm gehalten wurden und von der Hollandaise nichts mehr zu sehen. Ich atmete tief durch, probierte einen der heißen Kartoffeln und auch dieser war wie der vorhergehende noch knackig und nicht durch. Ich war so enttäuscht von dem Essen und hab das in einem Lokal so noch nicht erlebt. Wir waren zum ersten und zum letzten Mal dort. Auch das Kaninchen war super trocken und geschmacklich gar nicht gepunktet. Sehr enttäuschend, gerade wenn man sich zum Geburtstag einen schönen Abend machen möchte. Preis Leistung ist es definitiv nicht wert

Wir sind über das Restaurant / den netten Aussenbereich beim Erkunden der Stadt gestolpert . Die ansprechende Tageskarte hat uns zu einem Snack verleitet und wir haben es sehr genossen . Tolle Qualität , guter Wein und sehr nettes und aufmerksamer Service . Wir müssen und möchten gern noch abends im stilvollen und besonderen Ambiente wiederkommen . Danke für diese wunderbare Pause

Wir haben noch nie so viel für so wenig Leistung bezahlt. 30 Euro für eine Portion kalten Wolfsbarsches war einfach unangemessen. Das ich darauf auch noch 90 Minuten warten mußte, macht es nicht besser.Das Kalbsschnitzel war okay, aber im Preis- Leistungs- Verhältnis war auch da noch recht viel Luft…. . Aus unserer Sicht- wir waren zu viert dort, um vor dem Besuch der Oper ( Freischütz- Premiere) noch gut zu essen - war das Heck - Art eine veritable Enttäuschung. Beim nächsten Chemnitz- Aufenthalt schmieren wir uns besser vorher Schnittchen. Schade!!!

Sehr freundliches Personal und leckeres Essen

The food was good, no question. However I expected much more in terms of its presentation which was really not special, not 'arty' as per the pictures I had seen as reference. That was quite disappointing. My dad ordered a salad (small version) as starter and it was far too much for a starter. A hill of salad simply. I ordered half a lobster (as they had lobster weeks on) and they served it with weigh too many potatoes. No regard for special presentation. The worst however was that I had explicitly asked for our family of 9 to be placed in the main restaurant area which has a cosy feel to it which was confirmed in writing via email before but instead we were put into the separate dining room which was cold and there was no music until I asked for it. Even the nice table decoration did not really help with my initial frustration about this. Overall average experience for the money I paid.
