Haus Töller in Köln

A quaint old inn in the middle of Cologne with freshly tapped Peters Kölsch and delicious food. There used to be a lot of pork chops with fried potatoes. Unfortunately that no longer exists. There are schnitzel and knuckles or chicken to fill you up. I had roast pork with fried potatoes and red cabbage. Very tasty BUT instead of slices of meat I had pulled pork and, as with all the other dishes, only a very manageable amount of fried potatoes. For €20 it's pretty borderline. A good atmosphere and nice people in the restaurant. The underground “Köbes” was a big drawback: slow, inattentive, unfriendly and not equipped with the charm of his other colleagues. In addition, you can only pay in cash 👎.

This place is not about food as for me. It's about atmosphere.

The staff is on their toes and you never have to wait long for your drinks. Food is also tasty and decent portions. The fact that you can only pay with cash and that card payments are not accepted is unacceptable and completely out of date.

Erneuter Besuch nach langer Zeit im Haus Töller. Preislich sind die Speisen spürbar in der oberen Liga angesiedelt, wobei deren Qualität aber auch stimmt. Die knusprige Haxe war innen zart, das geschälte Hämmchen stattlich und lecker. Beim Roastbeef mit Bratkartoffeln stimmten Geschmack der Bratkartoffeln und Gargrad des Fleischs; dass ein gemischter Salat dazu bestellt wurde, war ob der ausgelieferten Portionsgröße kein Fehler. Optisch und qualitativ heben sich die Speisen deutlich von dem ab, was einem in so manch anderem Kölner Traditionsbrauhaus aus deren Küchen zugemutet wird. Der Köbes war schon speziell. Er war gewiss keiner dieser Hauptschulabbrecher, die in manchen anderen Kölner Brauhäusern in ihrer Köbesuniform die Gäste bepöbeln und diese Flegeleien unter "Brauchtum" verbuchen. Nein, eher etwas introvertiert und recht behäbig- muss man mögen. Da die Tische sehr eng stehen, ergibt sich im Laufe des Abends ein sehr unangenehmer Lärmpegel und wenn eine größere Gruppe hinter einem ihren Platz einnimmt, kommt es auch schonmal zu Körperkontakt. Alles in allem hat es wieder gepasst. "Gut", nicht befriedigend".

The food and the place were very nice. The interior was preserved as an old and traditional restaurant. The schnitzel and boiled leg meat were delicious. The fresh sausage was not our style, it was more like spicy minced meat. The waiters showed complete German hospitality :)

All three of us ate chicken, delicious. the Köbes was quite grumpy but extremely fast (sometimes definitely too fast). The cell phone ringing from the man in the “confessional booth” was annoying. You have to ask yourself what kind of function this person has (just sat around and stared into his cell phone).

The Kölsch is great and the staff is very nice and friendly. The ambience is typical brewery. I wasn't happy with the food at all. Quite expensive and very small portions. There is no highlight in terms of taste. No comparison to e.g. B. Wirtz in Severinsveedel, where it's delicious and you really feel full. Conclusion: yes, for drinking beer, but not necessarily for anything else.

A very cozy brewery! We went there for dinner as part of our conference. The menu is small, but offers a varied selection. The food tastes excellent! Everything is freshly prepared, so the waiting time is a little longer, but the food makes it more than good! It's worth it! We stayed at Haus Töller with 12 people and a reservation. Despite reservations, we were seated at a table that was too small. Päffgen Kölsch is top notch as usual. The food, however, was subpar. The chop was completely dry and hard to cut. The Köbes just told us that he had eaten better food. The schnitzel was tasty but the portion was far too small for the price. Unfortunately, no insight afterwards. I won't go here again.

Traditional brewery where tradition is still valued. This is not a tourist bar but rather an insider tip where time stood still 100 years ago. Traditional Cologne cuisine that is very tasty and rich. A visit here is definitely worth it. But be careful to make a reservation on the weekend otherwise there is a very high chance that there will be no space left.

The condition of the brewery is catastrophic: plaster is falling off the walls, holes in the floor, the toilets have "NO LIGHT", a case for the trade inspection office, health department, public order office. A shame for Cologne.

Haus Töller: a Cologne institution! Were there yesterday and enjoyed the evening with barrel kölsch, juniper and roast goose. Töller's audience is younger and louder than, for example, Pütz or Reissdorf at the Greek market. There was also a family with children sitting next to us: so there was a place for everyone. One of the best breweries in Cologne in my opinion. I used to be a regular guest and now I'm back there after a long break. And it was still as good as ever! Delicious knuckle and much more, delicious Kölsch. Reservation is advisable as it is understandably full during the usual peak times.

Das Essen war gut. Die Atmosphäre ist typisch für Köln. Was ich als Nicht-Kölner nicht verstehe, dass man mehr als nur seltsam angeguckt wird und man einen kaum intelligenten Spruch kassiert, weil man einfach kein Kölsch trinken möchte. Da hat das Personal etwas Nachholbedarf in Sachen „Gast ist König“.

Yesterday we had dinner with 6 people and I was a bit excited, also because of some of the not so good reviews (unfriendly, waiting time). I have to say everything was perfect for us. The service was quick and the Päffgen Kölsch was at the optimal temperature The waiting time for the meal was okay for us, as we were told beforehand. Considering how small the kitchen is, it was understandable. We found the taste of the food to be ok to delicious. However, one of our group didn't like it. He was offered another meal by the Köbes. When he said no, he wasn't charged for his meal. You rarely experience that. Hats off

I wanted to get a voucher for €30 as a gift. I was then explained in the most unfriendly manner that vouchers were only available from €50 and what I wanted to do with a €30 gift. Not a shop for me where I would want to drink or eat.

Es como retroceder en el tiempo. Este lugar no ha cambiado mucho en los últimos cien años. El lugar es tradicional. El menú es tradicional. El método de pago es tradicional (solo efectivo). Los habituales son muy viejos. El staf es tradicional. Su kölch es tradicional (cerveza local tamizada en vasos de 20 cl y recargada regularmente, hasta que coloques el coster sobre tu vaso. No se han adaptado en absoluto, para adaptarse a los turistas. El servicio es un poco despreocupadamente arrogante, pero eso solo aumenta la experiencia. El menú es rústico y muy bien hecho. Esto es una visita obligada en un viaje de Colonia.

Outstanding beer, Päffgen! Unfortunately, unfriendly service, not a single vegan option and no payment other than cash possible. Ambiance from the last century has charm, but payment options from the last century unfortunately do not. Completely unsuitable for visits with larger groups, who carries €600 in cash with them?

First of all: The food was very good. However, we had to wait 1.5 hours for it. I can live with that too if it is explained to me sensibly. However, the boss's explanation only came afterwards. She said that it was completely normal as everything was freshly prepared and his kitchen only had 4 hotplates. In addition, as a guest you know what you are getting into here. I could also be happy that I got a seat in the restaurant and I don't even know how many people he had to turn down that evening. True. I don't care either. We made reservations in good time and should expect that the number of seats in such an established brewery will roughly match the kitchen capacity - even on a Saturday evening. A “I’m sorry, a schnapps on the house for the 6 of you” would have been very helpful. The fact that only cash payment is possible fits into the picture.

For once I was out with my husband, didn't eat anything all day, thought the pictures looked good, so the food should be good too. 1. Beer is served again and again without asking. Do you drink beer or not? 2. We waited an hour for our food, and then the gefte was served incorrectly, was taken away again, and had to wait another half hour for food. Best Kölsch ever!!! The journey from Nippes to Haus Töller is worth it

Warum bin ich erst jetzt zum ersten Mal hier gelandet? Ich kann es mir selbst nicht erklären: seit über 30 Jahren in Köln lebend ist, ist das Haus Töller völlig zu unrecht an mir vorbei gegangen. Ohne Reservierung, hatten wir am späten Nachmittag Glück, dass wir für 2,5 Stunden einen Platz für zwei bekamen. Was für ein Ambiente: wir fühlten uns vom ersten Moment an sehr wohl in den urigen Räumen. Und dann das Päffgen Kölsch: eh das leckerste vom Fass! Als dann noch das Kotelett auf den Tisch kam , da war der Abend nicht mehr zu toppen: feinstes Fleisch, super gebraten und gewürzt in unfassbarer Größe (unbedingt hungrig kommen!) Wir werden in jedem Fall wieder kommen - haben ja einiges aufzuholen. Einzig, daß der Köbes uns geziezt hat, war etwas befremdlich... aber das bekommen wir auch noch hin 😉

Leckeres gut bürgerliches Essen top zubereitet, gute Portionen in rustikalem traditionellem Ambiente. Service oft etwa langsam und „überfordert“, aber mit der sympathischen Art wird das ausgebügelt. Päffgen vom Fass rufen alles ab. Abends laute Kulisse, muss man wollen, gehört aber dazu. Immer gerne wieder! Am besten zu Fußboden mit ÖFNV oder Taxi kommen. Parkplatz keine Chance!

Im Grunde schön. Aber keine Kartenzahlung im Dezember 2023? Sind eure Kalender kaputt?

War ein besonderer Anlaß für mich als "Kölsche Jung", am 1.12. im Haus Töller einzukehren. "Ob dat mit der Reservierung klappt, wird vom Verlauf unseres weiteres Gesprächs abhängen!" Was andernorts nicht besonders entgegenkommend wirkt, ist hier Teil des Programms. Man pflegt auch das Schräge am Kölschsein. Bei allem Flachs: Ich bat darum, daß wir an einem Tisch uns nach langer Zeit einfach gut unterhalten können - und trotz "vollem Haus" bekamen wir keine Leute dazugesetzt. Damit hatte ich nicht gerechnet - ein dickes Danke! Was zieht einen her? Natürlich die Schälhämchen (um die dicke Fettschicht erleichterte Eisbeine). Perfekt gegart, nicht zu salzig, aromatisches Fleisch, das butterzart vom Knochen fällt. Nix für Vegetarier oder sonstige Gesundbeter, das ist klar. Auf seine Art ein kölsches Kulturerbe, das hier hoch gehalten wird. Ich rate von Beilagen ab - das Kartoffelpürrée ist ernsthaft mit Butter gemacht, das haut einen um. Und wäre zu viel, denn unbedingt zu empfehlen hier der "halve Hahn". Anders als sonst inzwischen in der Stadt üblich ist das ein echter alter Gouda und der Senf ist höllenscharf. Nix "Mittelalt es och jot" und mittelscharfer Senf. Wenn nur alle bewährte Traditionen so hoch hielten! Leider kein Tartar, da Maschine kaputt. Echtes gewolftes Filet, Kapern, rohes Eigelb, Zweibeln, Paprika, Pfeffer und Salz zum "Selberanmischen". Teuer aber jeden Cent wert. Nicht zu vergessen: Päffgen Kölsch - "what else"? die Räumlichkeiten sind natürlich schon der urigen Stimmung wegen nicht auf schick renoviert (sondern eher gar nicht), es wird eng, voll und dann auch höllenlaut (88 db(A) zeigte meine App als Höchststand). Die Köbesse sind davon ungerührt, erstaunlich freundlich und zugewandt und anders als in manchen domnahen Brauhäusern nicht aufgesetzt frech-pseudolustig, sondern genauso Traditionalisten. Nicht wundern, warum da "40-50 € pro Person" angekreuzt ist. Waren ein paar Kölsch mehr, eine Runde Kabänes, eine Runde Underberg - "ömesüns ess d'r Tod" und "wat nix koss, ess och nix!" Der Krach erfordert leider bei der Bewertung einen Abzug unter "Ambiente", das darf man vor allem bei längerem Aufenthalt nicht unterschätzen.

Waren mit einem Team von der Arbeit aus hier. Der Raum war schön urig, das Kölsch wie auch die Speisen alle echt lecker und der Köbes ruppig freundlich. Nichts auszusetzen!

Das Essen ist der Hammer 🔨 und das beste Kölsch was es gibt

es ist echt ein tolles altes Brauhaus Ambiente und die Fleischgerichte sind sicher auch gut. Allerdings gibt es eben nur Fleisch (und dazu Kölsch). Wenn man etwas anderes will sollte man nicht hierher kommen. Unfreundlichkeit gehört wohl auch zum Stil des Hauses. Die Preise sind ziemlich gehoben dafür. Die drei Sterne gibt es für das Ambiente

Ich bin schon seit 1999 im Rheinland, aber war noch nie im Töller. Welch ein Versäumnis!!! Das Haus Töller ist zu 100% authentisch, man fühlt sich sofort kölsch aufgehoben. Päffgen einfach lecker und das Schweineschitzel mit Bratkartoffeln und Salat für 20€ vielleicht einen Tick zu teuer, aber alles andere als Massenware. Wirklich lecker 😋. Sogar der Beilagensalat ist etwas Besonderes. Bald wieder. 💪🏽

Der Service war langsam und nicht gerade freundlich. Der Halve Hahn ist ein Skandal ohne Röggelchen und Zwiebeln...wo sind wir in Köln eigentlich...wir werden eher nicht wiederkommen. Ein Lichtblick war das schnitzel

Service soll wohl als typische Köbesunfreundlichkeit möglichst kleingeschrieben werden. Nervt aber nur. Das Haus Töller wir leider zunehmend schlechter, was auch die Küche und den Verfall der Räumlichkeiten anbelangt. Wenn aber auch die Beleuchtung auf der Toilette dauerhaft defekt ist, dann kann man nur sagen, dass sowas kein Gast benötigt. Schade.

Echte Kölner Brauhaus Atmosphäre mit uriger Einrichtung. Bedienung auf Zack und freundlich. Dazu Päffgen Kölsch vom Fass. Das Essen passt zum Rest. Kölner Küche und echt großer Portionen. Achtung: Bezahlung nur bar!

Precies wat we zochten!! Heerlijke, enorme schnitzels gegeten. Fijn nog buiten kunnen zitten, prima toeven. Binnen zag het er groot en authentiek uit. Snelle bediening, kregen meteen 2 Kölsch op tafel, ook een niet te versmaden bier! Je kan hier niet pinnen, betaalautomaat is meteen om de hoek, dus geen probleem. Personeel werkt hard, maar is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Komen graag een keer terug!

Das urige Interieur ist super, auch der Herr am Eingang hatte einen flotten Spruch parat. Waren im hinteren Gastraum. Obwohl wenig Betrieb hatte es recht lange gedauert, die Getränkebestellung zu machen. Das bestellte Kotelett war imposant. Panade jedoch leider angebrannt, das Fleisch knochentrocken. Weil ich nicht nochmal 45 Minuten warten wollte, hab ich es teilweise gegessen. Die Bratkartoffeln dazu wären, wenn sie heiß serviert worden wären, bestimmt besser gewesen.

Altes, uriges, kölsches , Traditions-Brauhaus mit deftigem Essen und ebenso deftigen Portionen! An Gäste von auswärts: wenn ihr Kölsch bestellt, wird so lange ein frisches Kölsch nachgestellt, wenn euer Glas nahezu leer ist, bis ihr einen Bierdeckel auf das Kölsch Glas legt! Wie halt in Kölschen Brauhäusern üblich!

Auf unserer Hochzeitsreise dieses uriges Brauhaus entdeckt. Ambiente wirkt für Nicht Kölner heruntergekommen auf den ersten Blick, aber der Eindruck täuscht und es wurde ein angenehmer Abend in gemütlicher Atmosphäre. Wir wurden gleich freundlich begrüßt und fragten ob wir ein Tisch für 2 Personen reservieren können, war aber gar nicht nötig, wir wurden herein gebeten und gleich gefragt ob wir zwei Kölsch wollen. Leider sind wir Nicht Alkoholiker und wir gaben uns mit Wasser zufrieden. Wir bestellten danach Essen, einmal Kassler gebraten und ein Schweineschnitzel. Sehr gute Portionsgrösse, hat uns auf jeden Fall satt gemacht. Was besonders hervorzuheben war, war der freundliche Kellner. Leider weiß ich den Namen nicht aber er hatte einen Oberlippenbart. Service und Bedienung verdienen ein ganz großes Lob, wir werden das Haus Töller auch in unserer Heimat vielen Freunden und Bekannten weiter empfehlen.

Sehr authentisch kölsch, also sehr urig mit traditionellen Brauhausambiente, sehr lebendig, mit besten Sprüchen vom Köbes. Schön, dass es sowas noch gibt und in einem Veedel, das vom Tourismus verschont geblieben ist.

Nette ziemlich original urig erhaltene gepflegte Kneipe, mit ordentlichem Essen, das frisch zubereitet wird. Öffentliche VM Anreise oder mit dem Rad ist zu empfehlen.
