Never again, everything was bad everything

Apparently, German customers are no longer welcome in some parts of Germany. No alcohol is on the menu for religious reasons. Unfriendly and poor service. At least for us. It's an absolute disaster and a sad thing what has become of this wonderful shop.

Everything was fantastic – the organization, the atmosphere, the ambiance of the restaurant, the food, the drinks, and even the shisha were top-notch! I'll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Once one of the most beautiful excursion destinations on Lake Baldeney, it is unfortunately no longer recommended at all under the new tenant. Apparently they no longer want a German audience. How else can one explain the fact that there is an Arabic-titled beer garden with hardly any of Germany's powerful "service staff" without a beer bar? What's that supposed to mean? Then have fun with the business model. Once and never again!

Unfortunately I can only agree with the negative reviews. We have always enjoyed being here under the leadership of Patrick Sokol. It was rustic, chilled, a bit chaotic at times but it had charm. Unfortunately it has now completely disappeared. I don't think anyone needed an Arabic fast food stall on the beautiful lake. No specific opening times, no menu or website. A beer garden without alcoholic drinks - cold beer after a walk/hike/bike ride is not a BEER GARDEN in my opinion. Really a shame about the beautiful location.

The service was an absolute disaster. Our order wasn't even taken until 45 minutes later. The tables were dirty, the chairs uncomfortable—and when we asked for other chairs, no one came. Unfortunately, the place itself is nice, but the wrong company runs it: disrespectful, unprofessional, and completely incompetent. After a full hour, our order was finally taken, but the tables were still dirty, old glasses were lying around, and the ashtrays were overflowing. We then canceled our order and left. I absolutely cannot recommend this place—a very bad experience.

I won't come again, German is hardly spoken and unfriendly employees quickly get annoyed. Have a nice start to the season, make your own impression!

We asked a million times and the last thing the food came cold, the heater was a million times and he came back to turn it on. The hookah did not work with the worker, and the barbish got away with it. Repenting the first and last time...it is forbidden to do so. Because of the cold, we asked them to close the tent, and the view meant no view, no warmth, no food, and not even service, as usual.

The Haus am See is another good example. Nothing against the owners, but a restaurant right on Lake Baldeney with a lake view in the Ruhr area – no beer, employees barely able to take an order because hardly any German is spoken... What the hell is going on here???? Dear City of Essen, we're in the Ruhr area, and the people on Lake Baldeney don't want tea from doll-shaped cups. They want beer and local cult! Dear owners of the Haus am See, it's a shame that you're trying to push your culture through instead of embracing the culture of the region, the RUHR AREA!

I have no star. It has been 9 years in Germany for the first time that I have missed a restaurant like this. There is no good food or treatment at all, and the food comes every half hour with a plate. Frankly, I do not advise anyone to go, and the prices are expensive. I have not seen such tourist prices.

We passed it on a walk and took a break. Basically a location with potential to stay and ideal for outdoor events, but what was made of it was a disaster. Tables and chairs in the outdoor area were partly broken and not cleaned. Two plastic tents were set up in front of the historic half-timbered house, which prevented the beautiful view of the building. Next to the entrance area and the tents there is a trailer in which grilled food is prepared. The path to the outside hut, where you can buy drinks, is not for people with walking difficulties. Broken records and tinkering. The outside hut has also seen better days. The selection of drinks, anything but good. Coffee and soft drinks only. Apparently they have a license to serve alcohol. But you won't find a freshly tapped (alcoholic) beer. A limited selection of soft drinks and non-alcoholic beer is only available from the bottle (in the glass). We can't say anything about the food, as after the first impression and the inadequate selection of drinks we no longer had any desire to dine here. Conclusion: A great location that you can really do something with. Since the change of operator, however, it seems as if the only goal here is to make a quick buck. Loveless, without demands and understanding for outdoor catering. You can sit more rustically and beautifully at Haus Scheppen, the Werdener Wiesen, change to the Lujo or on the other side of the lake to the Südtiroler Stuben. Unfortunately, profit dominates here at the expense of demands. We won't go here anymore.

And bless what the restaurant has I disagreed because I drove the car in front of the restaurant. The park was 200 meters before the restaurant and it continued on a mud road inside. The view is very beautiful, but the restaurant's service is poor, and even the hookahs are not drunk. I ordered grapes to bring grapes and mint to fry this one. For four people, we got a bill for 190 euros for nothing 😂

My partner and I wanted to spend a nice evening in the house by the lake. Unfortunately, a nice little place right on Lake Baldeney turned out not to be recommended. Out of 5 employees, 1 speaks German poorly and 4 speaks no German at all, after initially placing an incorrect order due to a lack of language skills, the food was then inedible, I have no idea what was thrown together there but it had nothing to do with the actual order. The waitress came to our table after 31 minutes, there were only non-alcoholic drinks, so we were surprised. I rarely write reviews, but this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. The service is almost non-existent. It takes a good 30-40 minutes before you can place your first order. After my first 3 desired dishes were all gone and there were no milk shakes left either, it became a single main course. Here you will be informed that this can also take approx. 30 minutes. I got my food after a whopping 1.5 hours and after asking at least 5 times. You constantly heard complaints from the tables next to you that food either came too late or didn't come at all. Just embarrassing and I won't come again.

Schon in ordentlicher Entfernung wurde man von Rauch und Geruch eines großen Grills empfangen. Zur Qualität des Essens kann ich nichts sagen, wir hatten kein Bedürfnis, es auszuprobieren. Schade, das war früher ein toller Sommerort!

But in a smaller coffee cup that's probably exorbitant. Exactly the beer, ordered and charged for 0.4l tap for €4.70, we got a 0.33l bottle for €3.50. Or our neighbor, whose tap glass was half full of foam, so he had to send it back. Unfortunately, such experiences don't leave you with a good feeling, a shame for the really beautiful location...

The name immediately appealed to us. The two of us came to this beautiful location after a long walk, heard well-known pop music from a large JBL box, and decided to go in because it was colder. Nice interior, very comfortable chairs and then you sit down at 5 p.m. and then the service says the kitchen is already closed and everything is clean, not even cake is offered! We order something to drink and after 30 minutes the most delicious smells come from the kitchen. Then, with 3 servers, a salmon soaghetti ensemble is draped on an outside table along with a glass of white wine, prepared to take photos for social media! And all the guests present look into the tube. I have never experienced anything so incredibly unfriendly. Never again! Lie to guests, close the kitchen at 5 p.m., but then stand in the kitchen to conjure up something for social media while real guests are served nothing at all in the way of food. Great concept! Well then you also live from the clicks for the photos - the real guests won't forget something like that!

We were guests at the Haus am See shortly before we wanted to go to the Peter Fox concert. It was a great stay at the lake house. The owner refilled our beer mugs free of charge and then offered us the opportunity to take us to the concert on the other bank in his boat, which we gratefully accepted. It was a really nice boat trip and we will not forget this evening because of this happiness in life. The location is really nice. The food is delicious and the owner made it an unforgettable evening for us. Thank you again!

So first of all you have to say that the location and the ambience on Lake Baldeney with a view of Villa Hügel is really fantastic. Unfortunately, the culinary experience was exactly the opposite: bad-tasting ready-made cake, in which an attempt was made to hide the inferiority with artificial strawberry sauce and sad fruit. The coffee served with it also tasted like the fully automatic machine hadn't been cleaned in months. We didn't eat any coffee or cake...that rarely happens. The waitresses were committed despite being understaffed. PS: Please wash your upholstery more regularly.

Great for sipping a drink in summer...

Our birthday party at the house by the lake will remain a beautiful memory for us. Great for a “day drinking party” because there is no possibility of celebrating longer than 10:30 p.m. because of the nature reserve. We were allowed to hang out a bit inside, which the room is well suited for up to 50 people. The staff tried very hard, but not entirely attentive. At the bar we got our drinks very quickly and full! The food was simple but tasty. The kitchen didn't keep up with the refills, but we were all full!! We felt very comfortable and had a successful party 🥳
