I have been to HSK several times and have always been very satisfied with the service, the ambience and the food.

The welcome was friendly and exemplary. We were quickly assigned our table. The waiter was relaxed and didn't show any signs of stress. The days when I could stuff myself without limits are long gone. So I made do with the 250g Jägerschnitzel. For me the portion was sufficient and filling. Fries could have had a few more. What I immediately noticed negatively was the third choice mushrooms. This really doesn't have to be the case in the catering industry. I suspect that this is ready-made sauce from a bucket. You can't say it wasn't tasty, but it could be improved. The schnitzel itself was as you would imagine. The photos circulating online have not been edited. My friend ordered the XXL currywurst and made it in 50 minutes. I can't comment on the taste, but it looked great and was well prepared. There is nothing to complain about in terms of inventory and there was no lack of cleanliness (including in the sanitary area). You notice that you're not just putting money into your own pocket. An absolute plus point is that the waiter brings Styrofoam boxes to the table without being asked so that you can take leftovers with you. The price-performance ratio was ok, if only decent sauce was served with the Jägerschnitzel. For me personally, it was more of a cream schnitzel than a Jägerschnitzel. But I don't know of any legal definition of what a Jägerschnitzel should look like.

With the Harzer Schnitzelkönig, Lautenthal has one of the most famous event restaurants in the region. The rustic, very harmonious, yet modern and cozy restaurant is always busy, so an early reservation is highly recommended. The concept is primarily designed for larger groups (e.g. clubs, Christmas parties). There are certainly more suitable locations for a romantic candlelight dinner - also due to the rather high noise level. The menu is mainly designed for meat and schnitzel dishes, most of which can be ordered according to portion size (e.g. 250 g, 500 g). Although there are also some vegetarian and even vegan dishes, it would be nice if this area on the menu were expanded a little. The prices are consistently more than justified, the quality of the food is impressive across the board, and the service is also attentive and courteous.

Super nice service and amazing food at a fair price. We asked at short notice and were welcomed with open arms. We would love to come back and are already looking forward to the next time.

Had the XXL currywurst and it was super delicious. Got a certificate And it took 14.55 minutes But I didn't eat for 2 days after that 😂

Unfortunately, our drinks were forgotten for the first 30 minutes. But when we raised it, we were immediately taken care of and apologized. Otherwise all in all a very good restaurant.

Went there for the first time today. Had reserved a table in advance. The atmosphere was really appealing. We were greeted very warmly and escorted to our table. Our order was taken there very quickly. The drinks came very quickly and we didn't have to wait long for the food either. The food was very tasty and plentiful. After dinner we wanted to order dessert but unfortunately we had the feeling that the staff ignored us. At some point we were able to get someone from the staff to notice us and order dessert and then asked for the bill. Overall, it was a successful visit and we would like to come back again.

Service was really good. Very quick and attentive. We sat indoors which has a nice atmosphere. I ordered a schnitzel. Compared to the other restaurants where I have eaten schnitzel, the schnitzel here was much worse. It was a little dry.

A very nice restaurant with a log cabin style atmosphere. There were four of us present and each of us had one of the numerous schnitzel variants, which are available from 250g to 1000g in size. My warmest recommendation is to order the delicious fried potatoes (if you don't like onions you should stick with the fries as the onions are coarsely chopped) and the Jack Daniels sauce with them. The waiters were very friendly and always concerned about our and the other guests' well-being and always asked if everything was okay. For me one of the top XXL restaurants in Germany!

First, what you see first. In this place where nothing else seems to be going on, he is! The legendary Schnitzel King! We have wanted to dine here for years and our own requirements were high. And what do I have to say? The ambience is breathtakingly beautiful and the food is simply great! 👑 It's just fun to go in there and spend time. The service is good, the waitresses are friendly and accommodating and always have a good saying to say. Since I couldn't decide whether I could order the sambal cream with the schnitzel because of the spiciness, I was allowed to try a bit of it in advance. You can decide the portions yourself and the menu is good and clear with a touch of humor. I give it a clear recommendation, this restaurant really deserves its name! 👑⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you want to eat a lot and like a rustic atmosphere, this is the place for you. We were at the Schnitzelkönig with a group of 9 people and were well received and served by the really attentive and young team. Price performance also fits! The schnitzel itself (I had chicken) was too firm (dry) for me personally, but tasted good. The dessert (cheesecake) was very tasty! On the whole we were satisfied.

The food was very good, but it took over an hour to eat after ordering. When we ordered dessert, payment was requested shortly after ordering so that we could clear the table as quickly as possible. After ordering, the two scoops of ice cream took another 20 minutes to arrive.

We had a great afternoon here! We got there about 10 minutes early and were already allowed to get to our seats. Our service was very nice and the food tasted great (at more than justifiable prices). The only unsightly thing was a hair in my food, but unfortunately that can always happen. I'm not the type of person who complains and demands new food and has the existing food thrown away unnecessarily.

Dinner for four as a family with two children. Had the Excalibur meat skewer with wedges and fries. Additionally as sauces pepper and hollandaise extra, all sauces were very tasty. Everything was very well fried and well seasoned. For dessert there was lava cake and apple strudel, which also tasted great. The HSK is definitely top value for money. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back.

We went to Harzer Schnitzelkönig on the recommendation of our son. We really liked the ambience and the food. We were there with 4 people and had 3 different dishes, all of which were very plentiful and super tasty 😋 🤤. The service/young woman was really great, open, funny and concerned about our well-being. The food was very tasty, but we were put under a lot of pressure in terms of time. We had ordered a dessert, had to wait quite a long time for our food and the dessert and were then asked to pay while we were eating dessert because the additional reservation was already there and waiting.

Service and ambience are great. The food is okay, it's just a matter of quantity and there are much better restaurants. Nevertheless, we like being there.

Service is top, the food is a flop, schnitzels are thick and not pounded, the hollandaise is a finished product, no wonder given the run-through, no one will stand there and beat 5 kilos of hollandaise and pound 500 kilos of schnitzel, let alone bread them. The schnitzels probably didn't come from a pan or had clarified butter, felt like a schnitzel from the combination steamer.

The food was a complete disappointment. So if the schnitzels at Schnitzelkönig aren't good, I wonder how the shop is holding up (perhaps because there are hardly any alternatives in the region). The schnitzel (2x 250g) reminded me more of an industrial schnitzel than a homemade schnitzel in terms of shape, breading and quality of the meat. 30€ thrown out the window. So at the Schnitzelkönig, at least the schnitzels should be great. Never again !!! ps: even though I don't like fries, these were great

Ich fahre seit nunmehr fünf Jahren, mit fast jedem meiner Fahrschüler, durch den Harz. Bei jeder dieser Touren wird eine Pause beim HSK eingelegt. Für mich als Fahrlehrer ist dabei wichtig, mit jedem Schüler dort Halt machen zu können und das es für Alle ein Event ist. Für Alle Geschmäcker und Religionsrichtungen findet sich ein Menü auf der Karte. zudem Menge Vegetarische und Vegane Gerichte. Das alles mit einer hohen Qualität. Und wer sich traut, kann sich ja mal an einer xxxL Portion versuchen.... 😉 Zum Schluss noch ein ganz großes Lob an die Mitarbeiter. Ihr seit das Herz des HSK und macht eine tollen Job! Always nice here. The price has risen quite a bit since my last visit, but the quality is still up to par. So a very clear recommendation.

Unfortunately it's too dark and very crowded for me. But that's just my personal impression. The seats are very hard and unfortunately with arthritis it is difficult to sit after 30 minutes. But that's also my personal problem. Thanks for the friendly answer 😊

I've been going to the Harzer Schnitzelkönig regularly for a long time and am always impressed. Starting with the super great and nice service team that is always in a good mood. Then we have the super delicious food, where I can't recommend anything in particular because everything is simply delicious. Not to forget all the XXL dishes that you could still manage in a certain amount of time in order to get a certificate. Last but not least is the ambience. It is simple, rustic but also modern. In any case, the visit is always a great pleasure for me. Keep it up 👍

We were there for the first time today and were absolutely thrilled! The atmosphere was very, very comfortable, every single service person was very friendly. We felt very comfortable with that! The food was just great! A large selection, so there should be something for everyone. We had Jägerschnitzel and Zyklopen Schnitzel. Quality cannot be topped. Fries seem to be homemade!? They were definitely very tasty too. The goat cheese as a starter was also great! We can also highly recommend cocoa! All in all, a perfect visit after a lovely hike! We were definitely not there for the last time 😀

Delicious food, casual atmosphere and very nice staff! We are usually not fans of “schnitzel restaurants”, which usually have more of an appearance of mass and less class, i.e. quality and origin of the meat. Attracted by the good reviews, we “dared” and were not disappointed. Friendly and fast service, a menu that also offers many delicious dishes for non-meat eaters, great schnitzel variants and the most important thing: we really enjoyed it. The schnitzels were even juicy around the edges and cooked just right. In addition, they weren't as thin as a shoe sole and the breading was super crispy. The fries were also crispy and deliciously seasoned. According to the map, the meat comes from pasture-raised animals, which we just assume for now. All in all a good experience. You can do it if you are in the area. 👍 Tip: The community has a nice motorhome parking space within walking distance, about 5 minutes.

Just beautiful there! This restaurant deserves its name. The food tastes great! Not only the schnitzels are great, everything else is too! The price is reasonable for the amount you get. The ambience is breathtakingly beautiful! It's just fun to spend a nice evening there with your friends and family. The service is correspondingly good, the waiters are friendly and accommodating, you'll be happy to go there again! A clear recommendation from me for special occasions or a nice get-together!

Super leckeres Schnitzel heute Abend genossen. Letztes Jahr schon hier gewesen und es ist lecker wie immer. Bedienung ist sehr gut drauf und das essen war sehr schnell serviert worden.

Went there spontaneously today. Since all the tables were occupied, we were offered to wait a while (approx. 30 minutes were expected, we waited a maximum of 20) We were allowed to wait inside, at bar tables, where we could order drinks and look at the menu. The service staff were super organized and very friendly. Despite the number of guests, they didn't seem stressed. When we were brought to the square, we were asked whether 1.5 hours would be enough for us to eat, which was completely okay considering that there were still people waiting to be seated. The steaks and schnitzels were very tasty, and the children's nuggets were also completely eaten. Prices are right too. Just under €14 for a 125g Wiener Schnitzel with a good portion of fries and a small bowl of red cabbage salad is reasonable. We'll definitely come back.

We drove 1.5 hours to spend a nice evening with friends, the atmosphere is great and there are no complaints about the service. However, in a store of this format you also expect corresponding taste. The burger was inedible and the rest of the dishes were very bland and bland. Given the prices and the reputation of the local, you would expect more. We probably won't come back.

In advance: We had reserved a table and were really hungry after a long hike! We were there about 30 minutes before our reservation, but only had to wait 10 minutes for our table. That was great! When making the reservation I stated that we were coming with a dog. The table was ideal for this with a nice place to lie down for our four-legged friend! The food and the service: The possible portion sizes are well known! 😉 But the food is not just outstanding in terms of quantity! The guest is offered high quality and really excellent taste! The schnitzels were tender as butter, the fries were nice and crispy, the coleslaw was great and the curry sauce (AND THAT'S WHAT EVERY CURRYWURST STANDS OR FALLS!) is really brilliant! 😎 You can also drown your currywurst (and fries) for a small extra charge if you want! It was very crowded, but the food was still really hot and really fresh! THE ENTIRE SERVICE is super friendly! Very attentive, quick and really perfectly organized! The nice thing is that the guests here feel that the employees put their hearts into their work! To speak of the “Harzer Schnitzel God” here would not be blasphemy! 😉 The success proves the restaurant right! We'll definitely be back!

The food was incredibly delicious, especially the schnitzels, which were perfectly prepared. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. A loyal friend died for me today... Every vacation I spend in the Harz begins and ends with a visit to the HSK! Today, like every time, I ordered my plant-based schnitzel and I was happy like every time, but today everything was different... The schnitzel was "reworked", as we were kindly told by the service, it now looks closer to the real schnitzel... Yes, that's true BUT the taste of this thing is beyond measure!! It's wobbly and tastes like stale meat loaf and I'd rather not even start about the breading! The plant-based schnitzel, which was previously in the range, was for me the best meat alternative I had ever eaten (vegetarian for 3 years) but the new, supposedly “better” product really cannot be measured by any measure, just a wobbly piece Deep fryer fat that is as thick as liver loaf and tastes like tofu! PLEASE change the Plantbased Schnitzel back to the previous product... Until then, goodbye my friend.

Very nice restaurant, a great atmosphere. The restaurant is almost always fully booked. With a bit of luck and a bit of waiting, you can get a table even without a reservation.

The service was very friendly and we were well looked after. The starter (servant's meal) was fantastic and the dips were incredibly tasty. The steak was cooked to perfection and went fantastically with the homemade herb butter. The fries tasted very good and were crispy. The ribs came with a coleslaw salad that was very pleasant and light, and a very smoky barbecue sauce. Personally, the ribs weren't juicy enough for me. Although the ribs came off very easily and were well prepared, some of them lacked that melting mouthfeel. The drinks were amazing, we ordered the lemonades. Overall, this experience is definitely worth the price, even if it's not cheap.

The service is friendly and the food tastes delicious. The schnitzels are not as flattened as in other restaurants and are still very tender, which I personally like very much. The prices have increased compared to spring but are still within a fair range. For me it's still the first port of call for schnitzel and an absolute recommendation, I'll be happy to come back.

We were on holiday in the Harz last week and of course we couldn't miss the Schnitzelkönig, which has been a tradition for us for 8 years. We really enjoy coming here, the food is super tasty, the dishes are super flexible (you can always switch sauces or side dishes) and the option of having your schnitzel with chicken instead of pork is always there. The dishes are always very lavish, so the prices here are always justified. The atmosphere is harmonious and fits the theme, it is always very cozy. The service is always friendly and courteous, but sometimes you have to wait a moment. But that's not a bad thing, because everyone there is always very charismatic. This year I also had to write a review 😊 We are super happy with you, would love to come back, will always recommend you to all other visitors to the Harz and will of course be back next year with an appetite for more! You are doing a great job 😊

We always pick something up here when we're in the area. What can you say, everything just tastes good. Prices are fair, not exactly cheap, but that shouldn't be the case, so the following point is possible: The quality (regardless of whether service or food) is certainly due to the fact that this (former Juister) restaurateur pays his employees above average and fairly, as can be seen from the job advertisements. It should be like that everywhere, then perhaps more people would be interested in gastronomy again and complete training. Keep it up and I wish you lots of strength and passion!

I have to say it was one of the best schnitzels I've ever eaten!! The restaurant was full to capacity, but the waitresses were very experienced and always polite. The 100km were worth it We'd love to come back.

Long waiting times must be taken into account, at least on weekends. We waited 80 minutes. The schnitzels on offer are of course exceptional. Even though the schnitzel tasted very good, it is quite expensive. We ordered wedges as a side dish and got 8 pieces. I find it very steep for the price. Otherwise nice service and nice ambience.

Very nice and forthcoming staff. Even though there was a lot going on (the evening before Ascension Day), you felt like you were the only guest. Each individual was looked after very well. You could also notice the super friendly atmosphere at the tables next to us. Were there with a child (10 years) and a dog. The child was given extra attention and the dog's well-being was also asked. We would have liked to go there again before the end of our vacation...but everything was fully booked...understandable given the great service and the very tasty food, which, despite many orders that evening, was very quick, hot and, As already said, super tasty and freshly served. For my next vacation in the Harz, I'll book two dates straight away.

Four of us ate here. The day before I tried to reserve a table by phone. Due to the peak visiting time in the evening, no staff member was available to answer the call. The announcement in the queue indicated that table reservations were also possible online. Then I did that. After a short while the restaurant even called me back because my call couldn't be answered. I found that extremely nice. I thanked him and explained that I had now made a reservation online. When we were guests the following day, we were greeted and served in a very friendly manner by the friendly service team. The atmosphere was very inviting and everything was very clean, tidy and organized. We ordered various schnitzel dishes and French fries and wedges as a side dish. The schnitzels were incredibly tasty and had a great, crispy breading. The fries and wedges also tasted great and were crispy, but still soft on the inside. We were thrilled and can highly recommend a visit here. We will definitely come back.
