A cult spot. I used to go there all the time. I noticed that the chip shop is an important supplier for the hospital. Besides the food they get at the hospital, the patients still have a craving for junk food. So the place is doing well. But their specialty isn't particularly tasty. Unfortunately, the other dishes aren't even average. It's a shame. It's hectic, but the location is good. There's so much more potential here. They do a lot for culture; there are plenty of event listings lying around. But they lack the skill to make good snacks. The good thing is, it can be learned.

The food was of good quality; the restaurant truly deserves the name "Frittenschmiede" (French Fry Forge). The decor is simple and cozy.

Absolutely fantastic! The schnitzels are made on-site, breaded, etc., and pan-fried! They taste incredibly delicious. 10 stars if I could. I've been to Harry's twice now, and I come from 70 km away. But there's nothing even remotely comparable closer. And the 70 km is definitely worth it. Plus, Harry is a really nice guy, a true Ruhrpott native. By the way, I first became aware of Harry through the Schalke podcast "Blauer Salon."

This was our first time at this snack bar in Wattenscheid, and we felt at home: tasty food and friendly service. The food and drink selection is exceptionally extensive!

A few years ago, my girlfriend and I still lived in Ückendorf. Since we moved to Switzerland, it's become a must to eat a vegan currywurst at Harry's whenever we're in the Ruhr area. The vegan sausage, the fries, and the curry sauce all get 10/10!

Harry's schnitzels are simply world-class...a rustic chip shop with an original Wattenscheider. If you're eating in the Ruhr area, you should definitely visit Harry's.

Super delicious currywurst in Wattenscheid! This small chip shop is unassuming, but it's a real highlight. You can sit comfortably outside under the trees while you wait for your currywurst, which can be made extra spicy if you wish. Harry himself is very friendly, welcoming, and funny. We've often been craving fries and found the Frittenschmiede door closed. The opening hours take some getting used to if you're used to fries. But when you do pay a visit to the Frittenschmiede: We didn't particularly like the curry sauce. Quite sweet and too much like hot ketchup. We didn't like the bratwurst either. It had a consistency unlike any other chip shop we've tried over the years. It was more reminiscent of a meat sausage in a skin. I think I can get better results at home in a pan or with bratwurst from the supermarket. Not worth visiting a restaurant or paying extra for. Recently, there was some symbolism (alphabet soup) hanging in front of the Frittenschmiede (I think it was put on by the owner). It was somewhat inappropriate for a chip shop. For the reasons mentioned above, we will avoid the Frittenschmiede completely in the future.

I've been enjoying ordering from Harry's for years. The schnitzels are freshly pounded, breaded, and pan-fried. Fries are available in thick and thin strips, and my personal favorite topping is the Joppie sauce. World-class! All schnitzels are also available in a veggie version, and they taste just as good. The other dishes, such as falafel pockets, burgers, and various grilled dishes like the Taxi plate, are also lovingly prepared and are highly recommended.

Super delicious, and the service is top-notch. The selection of dishes is large, and there's something for everyone (even vegans and vegetarians). So far, I've never been disappointed; I've always been happy with my order. Even when there are a lot of customers, you're served politely and the time is taken. Above all, the restaurant breaks away a bit from the typical "chip shop" experience. But only in a good way. It's LGBTQ-friendly, you always feel welcome, and yet it's rustic and simply Ruhr region, as you know it.

Since moving to Bochum, I've been on the hunt for the best currywurst. And now I'm sure you can definitely get it here, and in portions so large you could eat it for days. The customer service is absolutely 10/10. Choosing the thickness of your fries yourself? It's possible! There's a huge selection of dishes and drinks, so there's always something for everyone. You'll be truly pampered here, all in a truly lovely Ruhrpott atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We spontaneously went there for the first time and ordered a taxi plate. The portion was really large. The fries were delicious and crispy. The currywurst and sauce were very, very tasty. And the gyro + tzatziki tasted really, really good. The service was also very friendly. We'd love to come back :)

We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel and you can tell that a lot of effort has been put into it; everything is handmade and fried in a pan...and the price was certainly reasonable for a real veal schnitzel in a restaurant. However, as someone with experience in the kitchen and restaurant industry, I have to say that there were probably mistakes in the preparation, as the meat and breading were two different things that looked rather off-putting on the plate. I suspect that they forgot to add flour before breading...I hope it was an oversight because the taste was great...The Frittenschmiede left an LGBTQ-friendly impression on me and I think it's good 👍

I've been coming here since 2005. Unfortunately, I live about 110 km away. You can live without Frittenschmiede, but does that make sense? Not really. On the way to the Ruhr area, I program the navigation system or set the stopover as "Frittenschmiede." The location, including all the food, is simply top-notch. An absolute highlight as a snack. Affordable, fresh produce, and generous portions. Where else can you choose the thickness of your fries? I've never had chili cheese fries like this before. If you're expecting the typical cheese sauce, you're in the wrong place. A spicy, red tomato sauce with grated cheese on top. Topped with jalapeños and pepperoni. Different from what I expected, but still somehow great...

The Frittenschmiede is a very hot topic, that's how much of a play on words it has to be. A snack bar with charm, a nice outdoor area, an extensive menu and always friendly staff. In short: The prototype of a snack bar in the Ruhr area. Another special feature are the fries, they come in two sizes, 7 and 11 mm wide. There are also vegetarian and vegan sausage options and vegan mayo. Haven't tried it yet, but at least an option for vegan snack bar romantics.

The food was fine - solid takeaway fare, well seasoned and freshly prepared. Unfortunately, the experience is greatly marred by the owner. Not only was he unfriendly, his tone was also clearly condescending. Overall, a very negative aura that can quickly spoil your visit. It's a shame, because if we treated people more respectfully the store would be worth recommending.

Simply a great chip maker! The rooms are very clean and the cozy atmosphere invites you to linger. The chipmaker seems to be a very relaxed person. He and the staff are very friendly and prepare the food quickly and very tasty, despite many orders. What I've tried so far has always been great! You should order the hotter version of the curry sauce. This is more spicy than really spicy, giving the sauce, which is already very tasty, an additional plus point. Was there for the first time today, recommended by my friend who often orders something and I ordered the taxi plate and by far the best taxi plate I have ever eaten. Fries nice and crispy, I chose the thicker version, the curry sauce was a dream and the sausage was also very tasty and the gyros were also great. The portion was also great, I was full and that's saying something and the price is really humane. I found the atmosphere really cozy, took the food with me, but wanted to sit in with my friend. The boss and the waitress were super friendly and said hello to my friend. I live in Essen and will definitely come back again soon, hats off to you. I think Harry has been on Hülserstrasse since 2007. A lot has happened at "Harry's Frittenschmiede" since then. Whether classics or our own creations, the food tastes authentic. You can sit here and eat, or even stay a few minutes longer than planned. Guys, it's still a takeout location and not a steakhouse. Nevertheless, the atmosphere seems cozy. Yesterday my wife bought currywurst with fries to take away twice for me and for herself. Fries could have been fried for 30 seconds longer - one of them eats it badly the other one doesn't. The sausage was of good quality. The curry sauce, well I think it would go better with shish kebab than with sausage. You can eat it, yes, but I don't think it's a good curry sauce. On the whole, I would rather try something else than the currywurst, the selection is large. I think you can even choose between thick and thin fries.

Yesterday I went to Harry's Frittenschmiede again and ordered the pan schnitzel with pepper cream sauce. Plus fries with mayo. Rounded off with a nice Fiege Pils. I really enjoyed the food. I'm from Wattenscheid and come from Gelsenkirchen Buer to eat here. Harry the owner and his team are very nice and friendly. I'm happy to take this route for the tasty dishes.

Since I was with my family in Schwirzheim and I was being driven back to Bochum, we had the idea of ​​stopping at the Frittenschmiede like we used to. Fries are okay. Recommend the thicker ones. There is still plenty of room for improvement when it comes to currywurst. No comparison with the Dönninghaus sausage and sauce.

Excellent service and a huge range of cult dishes for years. The fire meatball with fries special is the reason to drive several kilometers there! Best meatball ever! Ordered there for the first time yesterday. Was there 5 minutes before the agreed time and the food wasn't ready yet! It was really prepared just in time so it was really hot and crispy. We ordered Jäger and asparagus schnitzel with fries. Everything was really impeccable and almost at restaurant level. So we will order here more often and eat outside when the weather is better.

Currywurst nothing special, needs a real sauce, owner friendly and accommodating.
