Gasthaus Goeke in Bochum

I can tell you what bothered me. We were in the large room. It was very cold in there. Also, the door was open the whole time, so you could constantly overhear who had flown how many kilometers, which was quite annoying. Next, I have to mention that the winter menu with kale and game was still online when we made the reservation. That was the reason we came in the first place. My girlfriend, who had chosen the restaurant solely because of the kale, was very disappointed that this menu was no longer available. Thankfully, we still managed to get a portion. Since it was her birthday, it would have been very disappointing if that hadn't worked out. If you're closing soon, perhaps you should put an end date on such menus. You only got two stars for the ambiance because I felt like I was in a large hall, not a restaurant.

We sat in the romantic beer garden. The food was very good. The service was also excellent. Today I went bowling with friends and then had dinner. It was delicious, as always. The service was also very good, as usual.

We went there again after a long time and the atmosphere was completely different. The place isn't what it used to be. The staff is extremely unfriendly and the owner seems like he doesn't care about much. The food doesn't taste good anymore either. I think if things don't change, we won't be going back to Goeke's.

We come here regularly for goose dinners and sometimes also to the beer garden. It's always a lovely place; the food, good traditional German cuisine, is delicious, the portions are generous, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. We always enjoy coming back. The prices are also reasonable.

We're from the Palatinate region and went to eat at the Gasthaus Goeke with friends who live nearby. Everyone was very satisfied; the food was very good, and the price-performance ratio was also good. In my opinion, it's a "village inn" (in the positive sense) of a sadly dying breed. We'll definitely go back to the Gasthaus Goeke on our next visit – please keep it up!

Very quaint old building (restaurant). I visited the Göcke Haus on the invitation of a tour operator. I ordered Holstein schnitzel. It was too chewy. Otherwise, everything was OK.

Everything is just right here! Guests can expect great, delicious food at reasonable prices! All this with genuinely friendly staff and a beautiful location in the countryside with large, shady trees!

The ambiance is very rustic. The service is very friendly. The restrooms are very modern and clean. The coffee and cake are delicious. What more could you want?

We googled opening hours, but when we arrived, they said the kitchen was closed. Exactly what you want to hear on a busy day when you're starving. So we recommend calling ahead and not making the same mistake we did ;-)

A fine and relaxed pub with a restaurant and a large outdoor seating area. A super relaxed atmosphere and a welcoming location for enjoying and lingering.

The quality of the food is abysmal, the sauces are mushy, the hash browns and fries are soggy, and they're mostly convenience foods. The prices are also steep for what's on offer. The place also smells of decades-old grease and mustiness. But that's typical of our Bochum residents... settling for bad food because "it's Bochum, after all" and "my grandpa has already eaten there."

We were there yesterday with our American guests. We sat in the beer garden under the chestnut trees. It was a pleasant evening. The food, the service, everything was excellent. Our guests were thrilled. Thank you very much. We'll be back.

Unfortunately, the food was out before the kitchen officially closed due to a lack of staff. It's a shame, of course, if you walk there for over half an hour like we did.

A wonderfully cozy inn with an ambiance that takes you back to a bygone era! The pictures on the walls and the rooms lovingly decorated with nostalgic objects invite you to travel back in time and make you feel at home. With very friendly staff who are always concerned about the well-being of their guests, the service at this inn is a hallmark – many thanks to Ms. Sibel, whose open and humorous manner contributed to a successful evening! The menu has something for every taste, and the "Von Hier" dishes – typical regional dishes – are particularly recommended! However, there is one drawback – unfortunately, if you want a salad with your meal, you have to order it extra for at least €4.60! A salad – at least a small portion – is part of every good restaurant! For this, and for the portion sizes of some dishes, we unfortunately lose one star 🌟 The food is a deduction! Oh yes, and 6-8 potato balls the size of a "Giotto" aren't exactly a filling side dish either - sorry. But all in all, I can recommend the Gasthaus Goeke, and we'll definitely be back!

Excellent, home-style cooking. We were there with a group of 13 people and had a private room. The onion soup was truly the tastiest I've ever eaten. And the steak wasn't to be sniffed at either.

We were here from Saarland (May 18, 2025) to celebrate our confirmation. The food and service were excellent. The restaurant, the outdoor area, and the beer garden under a chestnut tree have a certain flair that transports you back to your childhood. We'll definitely be back!

Were recently here for the first time with the family. The food was definitely good and the service was also very friendly. Definitely something for the older generation. So it's best to go there with your parents or grandpa and grandma 🙂

Before visiting the RuhrCongress we wanted to eat something and came across this restaurant. An attractive ambience from the outside and inside. We couldn't get a seat in the beer garden, and the charm inside was also surprising. Friendly waitresses, fast service. There was no drinks menu on the menu. The ordered food came quickly. Good portions for a reasonable price. We ate well in a nice atmosphere. I can only recommend it. Walk from the RuhrCongress or the Starlight Express approx. 10 minutes.

We were at the restaurant for a family celebration. Unfortunately, we were left unattended in our separate room for a long time and only served when we asked. The food took a long time and we were very disappointed. All the prices were very high and there weren't even vegetables or a salad with the main courses. There was also no milk alternative for the coffee. The ambience is very old-fashioned, which can have a charm, but in this case it is not rustic and cozy, but rather shabby chairs and worn-out interior.

We had dinner at Goeke last week. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed. The food for the price wasn't even remotely filling. I ate the fried spagel, which was a maximum of 4 sticks and hardly any vegetables. I expected it to be served in a bowl full, instead it was a manageable plate. My partner's main course was also very clear. The taste was good, but not at all appropriate for the price. We sat in the outdoor area, which I didn't find to be warmly decorated. The chestnut trees are beautiful, but otherwise I didn't find it very comfortable. The service was ok, but not outstanding either. All in all, we would have liked more or more appropriate for the prices.

Rarely have I had more boring food, the service was quick and efficient, maybe a little too quick. Cozy guest house, for those who are up for it.

Went to Haus Göke for the first time in a long time and that was also the last time. The schnitzels were so flat that I only tasted breading. Hollandaise sauce was out of a bag. Fried potatoes were soggy and full of oil. Too bad. It used to be better.

Was there after a funeral, didn't eat, so can't rate it. For me, it's a family-run restaurant with tradition.

The number of mini slices of bread wasn't enough to eat the cheese, so we ordered more bread. We were charged €4.70 for this under “bread and dip”. Normally bread is free, and there was no dip at all!

Very nice rustic inn. Very polite staff. There was also a greeting from the kitchen, curry noodle salad with corn and peas. The food went pretty quickly. After a good 20 minutes the food was on the table. Unfortunately the sauces were much too thick for us and the taste was so-so. A pepper sauce should taste peppery and a Diabolo sauce should be a little spicy. Neither was the case. But that is our personal feeling. If the sauces had been a little more modern and lighter it would have been five stars. Price performance is okay.

I was here for a business lunch in 1991 and was appalled at the quality of the food and service. Never been there again since then. Until now. In 2025 we were invited to celebrate a birthday there. And... I'm thrilled! Ambience, service, food, everything was great. And the menu offers everything from good home-style to seasonal and exceptional. We will definitely come back more often now.

Because of the positive reviews, we chose this inn after the Starlight Express. We came across a lovely inn with very friendly staff. The quality of the meat was okay. Unfortunately, in our opinion, the pepper sauce just tasted like flavor enhancers and ruined the whole dish. Too bad......

Nothing to complain about. There were 5 of us and we all ordered something different and everyone really enjoyed it. The warm staff and the cozy design of the store contribute to a very pleasant, calm atmosphere. And even when things got a little stressful, it had absolutely no impact on the cozy atmosphere. Another little tip: The Kaiserschman is really highly recommended

We felt like we were in an old train station waiting room. The food wasn't so great that we could ignore it. The way to the toilets was adventurous.

The food was average. Round, thick carrot slices in a salad are not a big hit. Unfortunately, the attempt to partially caramelize the Kaiserschmarn failed because it was too thick. The service was subpar. We waited forever for drinks and then we couldn't order them anymore. The waiters were hectic. Because they ran quickly and quickly the whole time. It was sometimes very tight to get past our table because we were sitting in the middle of the room like we were on a presentation plate. Which made the ambience more like a train station hall. Too bad.

Unfortunately, I wasn't noticed when I entered the restaurant. The lumberjack steak didn't taste like anything. Only the salad was edible. However, when ordering, a waitress gives you the feeling that you are being casual. The other waitress was friendlier. The restaurant looks good from the inside. In general I didn't feel comfortable and I didn't like it either. I won't come back.

Haven't been disappointed once in 27 years

I was skeptical at first when friends suggested this inn. However, when we arrived we were immediately greeted in a very friendly manner. The service was very dedicated and capable. The food was incredibly tasty and served almost piping hot. A very good inn, even if it seems old-fashioned at first glance.

Different people have different tastes and ideas! For me/us it's almost like a family here! School enrolments, baptisms, weddings, birthdays - we have already celebrated all of this here, with a very tasty meal, very friendly service and special requests that were handled with confidence:) The inn is very comfortably furnished and is located on the Grummer ponds. The location also offers pleasant paths for walking and lots of greenery! Gladly again at any time!

We were invited for a birthday and were accommodated in a separate room, which was very nice. There were pork and turkey medallions, a vegetable platter, beans wrapped in bacon, potatoes, fries, croquettes, champion sauce, pepper sauce, salad and for dessert three different desserts, served in glasses. The food tasted excellent. The staff was super nice and the drinks were always brought quickly.

The schnitzels we ordered were fried nice and thin and crispy, sauce with fresh mushrooms or onions... perfect.
