Hans im Glück in Dortmund is a great spot for delicious vegan food. The vegan burgers are flavorful, creative, and very satisfying.....even for non-vegans 👌🏾😆 The atmosphere is cozy and modern, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. A perfect place to enjoy tasty plant-based food in a relaxed setting

There were three of us (two adults and one child). Despite the wintry temperatures outside, the restaurant wasn't heated that day. We overheard a neighboring table mentioning that the heating was broken. Some guests were even wearing winter jackets at their tables. I find it rather odd that this wasn't mentioned at the entrance. The seats are covered in felt and not padded. The felt is covered in stains at almost every seat, giving it a very dirty appearance. The food tasted quite good, but unfortunately, it had become too cold for the room. The service was very friendly and quick. However, it wasn't particularly busy at the time. In conclusion, I wouldn't necessarily go back.

The service and food were excellent. It was just very cold, so we ate wearing jackets. There were cobwebs on the windows and the toilet hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time. A shame :(

The food tasted good, but there was a bit of a wait. The interior is very nice, and it's even nicer to sit outside in the summer. The market square is simply beautiful.

It was cold; I had to wear a down jacket to stay warm. The place smelled strange, sour. The portion of fries was ridiculously tiny for almost €9 and tasted awful. The burger was okay, but not filling. The cocktails were okay, and the service was good and fast. I'll never go back.

We were told the heating was broken when we asked, and it was extremely cold in the restaurant. Guests were sitting there wearing winter jackets, some even scarves and hats. There was no sign on the door with any information about the situation. No complimentary hot drink was offered as compensation. In the end, the waiter (deliberately) tried to charge us an extra €20. Furthermore, there were numerous problems with the equipment, etc. Everything had to be reset several times. All in all, it was a very disappointing experience.

We went there last week with my girlfriend for a meal; it was incredibly delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, Firas I think, a very handsome employee. Thank you!

It's not nice when you get almost cold food.

Yes, it's Hans im Glück, after all. Anyone familiar with the chain won't be disappointed. Friendly staff, good service, delicious food, clean restrooms. All in all, highly recommended! It's a former bank, and in the basement, practically in the old vault, they have a private restaurant for those seeking something a little out of the ordinary. A slightly dark location, but with charm and character.

Everything was great, I recommend it to anyone who likes burgers, especially the excellent service from Firas. See you soon!

COLD Fries were cold, Burger was cold, The entire place was completely cold, Espresso was also cold, not recommended, really.

We booked a table relatively spontaneously and it was a great evening. The food was excellent and served quickly and piping hot. The service was friendly, helpful, and a little cheeky. We got the hint about the barn – "usually three people sit on the bench" 😜. Keep it up! 👍 However, we had the feeling the heating was broken because it was quite cold. That's the only reason it was so crowded on the bench 😁. We'll gladly come back when it gets warmer.

That was my first and last time there. The vegan burger tasted alright, but it was cold and only had a few toppings. The single lettuce leaf was limp and wilted at the edges. The golden fries were too dark and also cold. The café crema was incredibly weak, more like brown water. The waiters kept coming back with dishes for neighboring tables, but at least they were friendly. Overall, mediocre quality at completely exorbitant prices.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hans im Glück is simply next level. An incredibly strong, warm team – relaxed, very friendly and approachable, and full of positive energy. The atmosphere is laid-back and modern, and you immediately feel welcome. And the food? Excellent. Every bite is a hit. Top-notch quality and taste. You can tell: People with passion work here. Highly recommended.

Pleasant atmosphere and delicious wheat beer

The food is generally good, but today, just like last time, the fries were only lukewarm and the bread with the salad was very hard, whereas it usually comes fresh and soft, even warm! 🤷🏼‍♀️ I also had to search for the avocado cream today, and compared to the last two times, there was hardly any. Somewhat disappointing. The restrooms are, as last time, very dirty, and so are the seats. Somehow, it just doesn't feel right anymore and doesn't make me want to go back.

We waited at least 20 minutes for a few drinks, even though it wasn't very busy overall.

My family and I came for the Dortmund Christmas market and our last stop was HANS IM GLÜCK before driving to Köln - what a perfect choice 😊 Perfect burger - cooked just right with great flavor and quality ingredients. The lunch combo offers fantastic value. The atmosphere is wonderfully unique with its forest-themed interior - the trees and creative decor create such a welcoming and lovely environment. The team was friendly and attentive, making the dining experience very pleasant. The location at Hansaplatz is convenient and the whole experience was excellent.

I ate there yesterday, December 20th, around 1 p.m. and had a truffle smash burger with mushrooms. And I got terrible food poisoning. ---- I didn't eat anything else that day. I was there with a friend, and we ate the same thing, except for the burger. After a few hours, my stomach already felt strange. And after 5-6 hours, I started feeling really nauseous. I had to vomit everything up several times. And today I still don't feel well. Something was seriously wrong with it!!! ---- The service was slow; you always had to ask someone, but they were friendly. The food itself was tasty; I just wish it hadn't been spoiled, then it would have been five stars. ---- The ambiance is nice, but the chairs/benches are very uncomfortable and tiny. As a short person, I barely fit. The water at the sinks downstairs by the restrooms is much too hot. Surely that can be adjusted? There's even a warning that it's hot. But the water that came out was boiling; it was almost impossible to wash your hands. --- I hope management takes care of the spoiled food.

The food was tasty; we only had a quick snack once: avocado sweet potato fries and once garlic cheese sweet potato fries. The service was very friendly, but everything took a while. We sat for quite some time without anyone taking our order. The Coke arrived practically after we had finished eating, and the same thing happened with the payment! The ambiance is nice, but personally, there are far too many tree trunks. The seating isn't particularly comfortable.

Because my family is familiar with "Hans im Glück," we knew what drinks and food to expect. The food in Dortmund was also delicious and plentiful. The service was friendly, though some of the staff created a hectic atmosphere. This was a bit annoying, but understandable given the large number of guests and the loud acoustics in the dining area. Unfortunately, many of the seats were dirty (a poor solution). The menus on the tables had also seen better days. The lamps had been exposed to dust for too long. A few minor touch-ups throughout the restaurant would be advisable. The women's restrooms smelled bad and were very dirty. I've never experienced anything like it.

Unfortunately, the quality has declined significantly. The burger is now only McDonald's quality, but costs around €13. The path to the toilet was paved with toilet paper and it stank. You couldn't wash your hands because the water was so hot you burned yourself.

I recently visited Hanse im Glück and was served by Firas – and I have to say, he was absolutely fantastic! Firas was friendly, attentive, and cheerful the entire time. He took the time to answer all our questions, offered recommendations, and was always immediately available whenever we needed anything. Even though the restaurant was packed, he remained calm, professional, and welcoming. The food arrived quickly, the order was correct, and we simply felt very well taken care of.

You can tell that the ingredients are high-quality and not just thrown together. The sides – especially the fries and sauces – were also delicious and complemented everything perfectly. I'd particularly like to highlight the service: super friendly, attentive, and totally relaxed despite the restaurant being busy. That's exactly how it should be. You feel welcome and well taken care of. Overall, a really lovely visit where the food, the atmosphere, and the service were all just right. One star is actually too much. We were there with several people, and some burgers and drinks were forgotten or brought incorrectly. The dessert we ordered never arrived. It was a complete disaster. Other locations have always been excellent, but Dortmund was a total letdown.

Food was okay, service was awful. Food was delivered incorrectly several times, and hot drinks, because they came from a machine, were only lukewarm at best (according to the staff, they couldn't be made any hotter). Even though the restaurant wasn't full, we had to wait 45 minutes for a drink. If you eat here with a group, expect someone to have finished eating and drinking before everyone has even received their beverage. Unfortunately, truly awful.

Unfortunately, it was a complete disaster. The food didn't arrive, was late, cold, or the wrong food, and the whole visit took three hours. Never again!

Negative Experience as a Delivery Driver with Service Staff I work as a delivery driver and regularly pick up orders for Wolt. With this letter, I would like to file an official complaint regarding the repeated unprofessional behavior of your staff. Today's incident at approximately 3:52 p.m. was unfortunately not an isolated case, but rather a pattern that repeats itself every time I visit your store. The staff consistently show no interest in handing orders to delivery drivers. I often have to wait 15–30 minutes or longer while several employees are idle, talking amongst themselves, or simply ignoring me, even though they can clearly see me. Today, a tall, young employee with a mustache and beard, who works in the service area, once again ignored me. He saw me several times, but without any reaction. When I finally asked him directly to hand over the order, he reacted loudly, aggressively, and very disrespectfully. He spoke in an unprofessional tone and even told me that I "shouldn't come back" and that I was no longer allowed to pick up orders from you. This behavior is not only disrespectful, but it severely disrupts my work. It's disappointing that this problem occurs every time, and that all employees consistently ignore or rudely treat delivery drivers—whether from Wolt, Lieferando, or Uber. I urge you to take this matter seriously and implement appropriate measures to ensure that delivery drivers are treated respectfully and professionally at your establishment. We make a vital contribution to your business and deserve to be treated with respect.

Extremely unprofessional, disrespectful, and sometimes discriminatory behavior towards delivery drivers Why this rating? 1- Without exception, the service staff exhibit completely inappropriate, unfair, and sometimes inhumane behavior towards delivery drivers. They lack basic professionalism, respect, and empathy – especially when dealing with foreign drivers. 2- The service staff focuses exclusively on the restaurant guests, as they might tip. Delivery drivers, on the other hand, are ignored because they don't tip. This behavior deliberately disadvantages drivers and treats them like unwanted individuals – which is clearly discriminatory. 3- Delivery drivers are systematically ignored for extended periods – often over 30 or 40 minutes – even though their orders are ready and waiting. This behavior demonstrates a lack of integrity and responsibility towards customers whose orders have already been paid for. 4- In many cases, delivery drivers are yelled at or spoken to in a demeaning and inhumane manner simply for inquiring about the status of their order—even if they have already been waiting for more than half an hour. This behavior crosses all boundaries of respect and clearly demonstrates discrimination. 5- In over 75% of cases, service staff are sitting idly by, laughing, chatting, and enjoying their time. However, as soon as a delivery driver politely requests a completed order, they react aggressively and claim they have "more important things to do." This behavior is not only unprofessional but also shows a clear lack of respect for the drivers. It is important to emphasize that delivery drivers play a central role in the restaurant's service process, delivering food to valued customers. Due to delays and the staff's disrespectful treatment, the food often arrives completely cold—a direct loss for the restaurant and an unfair disadvantage for the drivers. Furthermore, it should be emphasized that the orders are, of course, not free. Customers have already paid in advance and have the right to receive their food hot and in perfect condition. Due to the negligence of the staff, the drivers are being wrongly blamed, even though the fault clearly lies with the restaurant. In conclusion: The delivery drivers perform their work conscientiously and deserve to be treated with respect. The restaurant should employ at least one qualified and trained professional – not staff whose sole focus is their monthly salary and who lack basic humanity and integrity. Such behavior not only damages the restaurant's reputation but also its revenue and the credibility of the owner or investor.

Good luck at Hans im Glück. Although the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, it took a considerable amount of time before I could order. Unfortunately, I find that at all Hans im Glück restaurants, a regular portion often isn't enough to satisfy you, but two portions are too much. The cellar has been decorated with great care according to the fairy tale, but it doesn't seem to be intended for guests. I only stumbled upon these design treasures by chance on my way to the restroom.

I came with a friend here on Nov 1st Saturday in the evening around 7.30 PM. The reason I'm mentioning the time is this is only a particular waitress degrading your restaurant, because we have been there before and had a good experience with other waiters. It was not really full on this particular day. We asked a waiter and found a table. Since noone was coming to us to get the order, we ordered using the scanner. We waited for half an hour, nothing came. We thought it could be a technical issue with the scan. So I talked to this girl who was the taking order from other table, to check. She said she will check with the colleague inside, and will get back. Even after 20 minutes, she didn't come. I again went to her and asked, and she said she forgot. She said she will come to our table to take the order, but we waited again for another 15 minutes, and she went to all other tables except ours. And it was not crowded nor she was busy running. Then we left there because we were hungry. This was one of the worst experience we had in any of the food places. It doesn't matter if the food is good, if the service is so bad!!!

The food was really very good and definitely filling. The staff is also very friendly. Unfortunately, the service isn't quite as good. Empty plates weren't cleared, and we were rarely asked if everything was alright or if we'd like anything else to drink. The biggest problem with the Dortmund branch, however, is that the place is very small, and seating for larger groups (4+) is severely limited. Even at a slightly larger table, the four of us were still very cramped. It's also very narrow, and I wouldn't describe it as particularly comfortable for overweight people. The trees in the restaurant, which contribute to the pleasant atmosphere, are unfortunately more of an obstacle and sometimes bothersome when sitting.

The restaurant looks neat! Nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, the staff is less friendly; we weren't familiar with the place, and nothing was explained. They advertise gluten-free buns for the burgers. You can place your order using a QR code and thus order a gluten-free bun. About fifteen minutes later, a waiter comes to the table to inform me that there are no gluten-free buns and that the only option is to get the burger without a bun. The result? A plate full of lettuce with a burger somewhere underneath.

This restaurant, thankfully, was extremely good and probably the best I've ever visited. Super friendly staff and simply amazing food.

The ambiance is generally very cozy, but in our case, it was unfortunately marred by dirty, sticky tables and crumbs, and stained seating. The burger was okay, but nothing special, and relatively small for the price. The cabbage was incredibly bland and watery. My companion's fries, which were supposed to come with Smokie Jam, arrived without it, and when we asked, we were told they were out of it. I think they could have mentioned that instead of just serving incomplete dishes. Now, let's get to the service, which was a complete disaster. No greeting. No hello when we asked if there was a table for two; he just pointed at a table and walked off. We sat down and waited a full half hour for the waiter to take our order. When he finally came to our table, he took orders from everyone else who arrived after us. Of course, we ordered drinks and food together, and unfortunately, we only received our orders together. Even after our drinks were finished, the waiter was neither reachable nor approachable when he walked past us, as he was too busy with the delivery drivers. All in all, the visit was a disaster. Before writing this review, I described the situation to the company via Instagram. However, all I got was a "sorry." I think more than a single word would have been appropriate.

I came here with a group of 6. Of the bat, the waiter was friendly but not overly motivated and the seats were uncomfortable and tight. The atmosphere was cool with nice decor and birch trees. The menu had plenty of burger options, especially vegetarian/vegan. I ended up with the bacon burger and the garlic chips. Take my advice, stay away from the garlic chips unless you like eating raw garlic, the normal chips absoluteley suffice. The burger on the other hand was delicious, I would recommend. Overall it's slightly pricey but a nice place, you have a lot of options with your order, my advice would be to play it safe.

The food is really good and the staff very friendly, but there aren't enough of them. We practically had to wave frantically to get their attention before we were served. Then, a beer was booked but forgotten. It was promptly delivered without any fuss... Everything took a bit longer than expected. So, "grabbing a quick bite" isn't really an option here. But as I said: very friendly and very tasty!

It took about 15 minutes for the coffee to arrive (we were sitting at the bar and ordered again directly there afterward), and about 40 minutes for the food. Apparently, the orders placed via QR code at the table didn't arrive. The evening wasn't great. Other guests also had to wait a long time. Otherwise, Hans im Glück is very good and I would recommend it.
