A wonderful beer garden just outside Passau with ample parking, good food, and plenty of beer 🍺

We've been to the Hacklberger Bräustüberl in Passau four times now and we always enjoy coming back! The food and service are absolutely fantastic every time – down-to-earth, delicious, and the staff is friendly. The prices are also perfectly reasonable. If you want good Bavarian food in a cozy atmosphere, this is the place for you. See you next time!

A lovely, cozy brewery pub with delicious beer, excellent food, and a large beer garden in the summer.

We had lunch here in the cozy beer garden with its beautiful old trees. It's self-service. Our chosen dishes: currywurst with fries, half a grilled chicken, potato salad, and meatloaf were delicious, and the portions were very generous. The staff was extremely friendly and very efficient. At the end of May, there weren't many tourists like us.

If you're looking for good Bavarian food in Passau, this is the place to be. Whether it's a restaurant or a self-service beer garden, the atmosphere is great, the service is friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. The beer 🍺 is delicious and the food is plentiful. The staff is super friendly and answers any questions. The apricot spritz is an absolute must; you simply have to try it. We definitely recommend it, and we'll be happy to come back next time we're in Passau.

This was our first time there. The outside area was okay, nothing special. The beer garden wasn't open. The interior is traditional yet modern and upscale, which I rate as 10/10. The food was delicious, the beer drinkable, although I found the price a bit too high for its location right next to the brewery (for example, Augustiner Munich Brewery). I had the schnitzel, which was offered with cranberries on the menu. But then they brought me ketchup, and when I asked for cranberries, they charged me extra. That's just not acceptable.

Quaint restaurant with delicious food and attentive service

A rustic Bavarian restaurant with a lovely terrace and a wonderful beer garden. To start with, the food: The roast pork was truly outstanding. Succulent, hearty, with an excellent sauce – definitely recommended. The house beer is a poem. Unfortunately, we didn't have a great experience with the staff – it seems very cold and crisp here. After being kept waiting for a while at the entrance, we were called out to choose a seat. No sooner said than done, we went inside (since there was no room outside on the terrace) and were immediately intercepted by a waitress inside who asked us to "please wait outside until we are invited to sit down!" After an explanation, we were seated at a table and made to wait again. Then, another lady handed us two menus – without comment, without a word. This was the afternoon menu, and a brief note that half of the menu found online isn't actually available would have been nice. We were already looking forward to the Reindl (a pot of wine). But okay. By the way, there are no drinks on the afternoon menu – so you're expected to know the drinks menu (?). On my first attempt to eat, I gave in and asked for the drinks menu – which, almost a bit annoyed, was handed to us as well. On the second attempt, everything worked out – we ordered, and the food arrived in no time. Unfortunately, there was no cutlery; before we noticed, the server had already disappeared. We quickly organized it ourselves because we didn't want the food to get cold. In short – the food was excellent, but the staff could have done with a lot of improvement. We were there on a Wednesday afternoon; only the terrace was full; inside, everything was empty, and the restaurant wasn't overcrowded.

After we had a nice trip we stopped at the brewery. A very nice building from the outside. Unfortunately the beer garden was not yet open at the beginning of May. But the small outdoor area right next to the brewery was also very nice. The atmosphere was cozy and we were served quickly. The employees were very nice and the beer was excellent. Eat well, drink well, nice atmosphere, completely satisfied

We were actually looking forward to the beer garden, but it won't open until May 13th, 2025. Still got a table outside. My meal (Surbraten) was very tasty, and of course the beer was outstanding!

Annoying! Unfortunately, the Bräustüberl is not in the city center. And that's why you have to go there by car. And that is the only criticism. Since we really couldn't find a middle-class restaurant for us in Passau on the Easter weekend, we went to the Bräustüberl for the first time. Everything was great from starters to desserts. Staff class. Unfortunately an order was forgotten twice. If everything goes well on the next visit, there will be 5 stars. Definitely a recommendation

Everything looks nice, but unfortunately it was closed. We were annoyed because Google maps said it was open. 20 minute walk along the street there and 20 minute walk back vs. Keep opening times up to date on Google maps. It's work for the host, but he should take the 5 minutes.

Food is real deal using quality ingredients and experienced chef

We always enjoy going to the Hacklberger Bräustüberl. The atmosphere in the interior of the restaurant is cozy, rustic and stylish, the outdoor dining area in front of the restaurant is also nice to sit in and in the summer the huge beer garden is an inviting place to stop off. There is also a large playground for the children. The menu is varied and consists of regional dishes and there is also a children's menu. The food tastes great, whether Kasspatzn, South Tyrolean Kaspressknödel, cod fillet, Wiener Schnitzel or Sudhaus-Pfandl. During the week there are changing lunch dishes and there is a "dessert of the day". The staff are very friendly and you feel completely welcome.

A top restaurant in Passau. The ambience invites you to linger. Friendly and considerate staff. Allocation of space promptly and friendly. The food is Bavarian and tastes great. It wasn't the first and certainly not the last visit to the restaurant. An absolute recommendation if you are visiting Passau and are looking for a good restaurant.

I had the Haxen and the stout. To be honest, I wasn't that impressed, but it was above average beer. The Haxen tasted classy. For my purely personal taste, the food was a bit salty.

We went there based on an invitation, the service was really good and the ambience was realistic. The food was really delicious, I had the only vegan plate (baked potato), it was really good and the portion filled me up well. I probably won't eat there again, but it was really good and worth recommending.

Traditional brewery inn with rustic furnishings, cozy corner benches and rustic wooden paneling on the walls. A waiter brings the guests to the table! Price-performance is very good, as is the selection of dishes. The food is excellent, every dish! I would particularly like to mention the service. There actually seem to be enough staff and waiters here - TRAINED waiters, it seems - extremely friendly and accommodating. Everything is well organized! The food comes quickly and by the table (as it should be), there are no breakdowns and no complaining about a lack of staff, like elsewhere. People politely ask if everything is okay and quickly get rid of it when everyone has finished eating. Everything is just right here! The Hacklberg beer garden is also an absolute highlight! Classic with tall deciduous trees, an extensive range of hot and cold dishes, with service for drinks and self-service when eating. - A wonderful "OASIS" in the summer after a Schlögen bike tour!

Update: Unfortunately today was very disappointing. We didn't get the beer we ordered, even after repeated requests. The waiters were unfriendly and stressed, completely overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the food was better. It's a shame, considering how great it used to be here. Great location near Passau and above all very tasty, fresh and hearty food at sensational prices, always a pleasure for us Saarlanders. We'd love to come back when we're nearby.

A very nicely located and equipped restaurant. The atmosphere was really great. You can always argue and disagree about the taste of food. I had the currywurst and it wasn't quite my taste. The service was super nice and accommodating. Despite everything, I will go again.

Good restaurant, rustic atmosphere. BUT compared to previous years, the taste has unfortunately noticeably deteriorated. Meat-free selection is very limited (unfortunately typical for our region), and the portions are rather small in relation to the generous portions of the other meat dishes.

At short notice, the two of us decided to visit this restaurant that had been recommended to me in the early evening. Quaint, rustic atmosphere; We were quickly assigned a table even without a reservation. Either the Bräustüberl has a new chef or something else but the food here is no longer as good as it used to be! Somehow everything was overcooked or warmed up.... The grater dumplings were far too dry. (The best grater dumplings in the city of Passau can be eaten in the Altes Bräuhaus) What a shame!

We ordered an apricot spritz, which was delicious, the Hacklberger wheat beer and a Hacklberger Helles, both very tasty. A boiled beef broth with a cheese dumpling that was great. A surbraten with two types of dumplings and coleslaw. This is how it should taste. Simply after authentic cuisine.
