Grüner Jäger in Lingen (Ems)

I've been there twice now and it was great. Fast service and the food was delicious. We'll definitely come back.

We've been going to GJ since it opened. We eat vegetarian food. The salad is now just a glorified side salad. It doesn't compare to the old menu at all. The vegetarian dishes are very meager, but just as expensive as full plates of meat. Very disappointing.

A unique and popular spot. Picturesquely located right on the Dortmund-Ems Canal. Sometimes live music. Great atmosphere. Friendly clientele.

If you really want to enjoy a night out at a bar, this is the perfect place. Good music and good beer, and it's in the middle of nowhere.

It was great at the Grüner Jäger again. The spare ribs came with lots of dips, fries, wedges, and coleslaw. Full marks from us! 👍

Great place. Nice decor, really good food, and incredibly friendly and competent staff. We had the spare ribs and the schnitzel, and both were really good and not expensive at all. What I always like is when the sauce comes separately with the spare ribs. Lots of friendly, young staff who are really competent. Highly recommended.

It used to be good here, but unfortunately, the menu doesn't offer many options for non-vegans. I only find burgers, and I don't want those. I won't be coming back. I won't be back until there's something proper to eat.

I arrived just before the kitchen closed and still got a juicy meal. Just as you'd expect, plenty on the plate and plenty of sauces and dips.

Beautiful again. But it's a shame that the Grüner Jäger is closing at the end of the month. I've always enjoyed coming here.

We stopped here on a bike ride to the shop. Very friendly staff, great view from the terrace. We'll be back

Nice restaurant, delicious food and friendly staff.

The food and service are excellent. However, the prices quickly rise because the main courses are served without side dishes, which you have to order separately.

We were there for a birthday party and can say it was completely worth it. The pub is simply fantastic. From the food to the drinks to the service, everything was perfect. The service is very attentive, friendly, and quick. Despite the large number of visitors, everything is very well maintained. The selection of draft beers is simply outstanding for a pub or day-trip restaurant. The location is very idyllic on the canal. Since the pub will only be open until September 2025, you should hurry to visit.

First of all, the service is really great. Very attentive, always nice and friendly. So close to closing, I expected the food to be really lavish. But that wasn't the case. An antipasti plate with pitted olives, a bit of feta cheese, and strange eggplants—it was nothing flavorful. Vegetarian tortillas filled only with peppers and corn, and not even fully topped. The baked potato wasn't great either. Food-wise, this is a significant decline from the past. Only the pulled beef burger was okay.

Unfortunately closed at the end of August.

Highly recommended! Friendly and attentive staff, great service, and I had non-alcoholic Guinness, something I've never seen before!

I was soooo disappointed – my vegetarian meal was only half as much and the price had gone up. It was the same price as a substantial meat meal. We always liked it there, but not anymore, what a shame!

I was in Lingen for assembly in 2000 and always went there for dinner on weekends. The atmosphere and the food were top-notch back then. What I liked best was that they had live music there—at least back then. I'm back at the Kraftwerk now and will be eating and drinking there again soon. I'm looking forward to it. The fact that the place is still there is usually a good sign.

All in all, I'm absolutely thrilled with the service and the food. I can only recommend this restaurant. You should definitely eat here... I highly recommend the cuisine.

On our bike ride...oh let's stop there...we were greeted very warmly...even though the beer garden was full, they still had a seat for us...thank you...they were very nice and friendly...and they gave us the menu on a tablet...thank you...the food was very good...and the staff were very nice and attentive...everything is just right here and we will be happy to visit again next time...:-)..do it again

The service in the green Jäger and the ambience are very good. Very nice outdoor area right on the canal. Unfortunately I can't give a good rating for the food. The crispy breading on the Viennese style schnitzel is not to everyone's taste. Please indicate this in the menu. The hamburger patty tasted like cheap supermarket produce and the mixed salad was very small with very little dressing. All in all a nice place to visit but unfortunately the food wasn't good value for money.

We really enjoyed our meal at the Grüner Jäger 😊 We'd love to come back for dinner again. My meal was super delicious; I had spare ribs with fries. My husband had a classic cheeseburger, and he also thought it was delicious. He was just disappointed that the pulled beef burger he had originally ordered was sold out. The staff is super friendly, very quick, and always have a quick joke ready.

We went to the Grüner Jäger for breakfast brunch. Everything was so delicious and really relaxed. A variety of dishes were brought to the buffet all the time, and you could try them all at your leisure. It was truly lovely. And everyone was so kind and attentive.

We were in Lingen for training and now at the Grüner Jäger for the second day in a row. Both great food, good service and nice atmosphere. The spare ribs are some of the best I've had in a restaurant, large portions and fair prices. The drinks menu is also extensive and not only filled with standard drinks, for example Guinness on tap. If I ever find myself on the corner again, a visit here is definitely planned. Great job, keep it up!

I have often been to Grüner Jäger to have a drink or a snack. A great ambience and a “cool” concept with funny spellings e.g. Börger etc. complete the overall picture. All the service staff, including the boss, are super accommodating and you can tell that the working atmosphere here is good. Would love to come back.

Simply delicious! I was looking for a place that also offered vegan dishes and not just fries. I was made aware of this restaurant through another post. First of all: Nice, cozy atmosphere. The restaurant was very busy (which often speaks for a good reputation) so you have to have some patience and time, but it's not dramatic. When I asked, the vegan menu was brought to me. As shown in the pictures, I chose a vegan burger and fried potatoes. What I really liked was that instead of using a substitute product, a homemade potato and carrot potato pancake was used as a patty. Nice and crispy, very hot and super tasty! Fried potatoes also well seasoned and nice and crispy. We'll definitely eat there again. Please keep it up!

The service was first class from start to finish. The staff was not only incredibly friendly but also very attentive, even though we were a larger group of 14 people. Drinks were served quickly, special requests were taken into account immediately, and we felt well looked after. The food was absolutely fine and the burgers were particularly impressive. Everything was always fresh and hot. The atmosphere in the “Green Hunter” was also very pleasant – stylish and cozy at the same time. We had a great time and enjoyed the evening to the fullest. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and we'll definitely be back! A big thank you to the entire team for the great service and wonderful food. Absolutely recommended!

Addendum 2024: Even 4 years later, the Green Hunter is still great. The location right on the river where you can see ships passing by. The ambience, the huge selection of drinks and freshly tapped beer and the rocking music selection are exactly my taste. Tip; I've never seen anything like the bathroom where women wash their hands on the toilet on the other side of the aquarium! 😄 We all enjoyed the food very much. The conditions was very cool and attentive. The price alone is sometimes really high. If you order a "bone plate" (half spare rip & chicken wings 🍗) for €17, I think a BBQ dip should be included. But you have to pay extra for everything (e.g. fries). Plate €16.95 + side salad €3.50 + BBQ dip €1.50 = €21.95 2020: Great ribs and Guinness on tap

We always enjoy coming here, but this time we were disappointed with the food. My wife ordered a small tuna pizza and a small pizza with mushrooms and pepperoni. My pizza was ok, but my wife's could have served as a Frisbee!! Rock hard. The service, very nice and very pretty, was unfortunately completely overwhelmed by the rush. She stood around completely confused and had no eye for the guests. We'll definitely be back, we can do better the next time we visit!

Great restaurant, nice views and good entertainment. The Green Hunter is widely known for this. The coffee tasted very good and the water was okay too. So why do I only give 3 stars. Well, that's because the service at the neighboring tables was rather slow. Guests waited a long time for drinks and also a long time to be able to pay. We had fewer problems with our service, except that the saucer contained more coffee than the cup. :-) But it wasn't a problem for me. Basically, however, I would have a problem with the cards at the tables. Only drink tickets were available. We only found out that there was ice cream when one was carried past us. I missed the menu. That's why I deduct the second star. You can get all the problems under control. Finally, I would like to say that this is no reason for me to avoid the Green Hunter in the future. We will definitely be visiting more often and hope that the problems will be addressed and I can raise the rating high. :-) Update to 2 stars! This time the service only brought drinks for the first time... After that we ordered another round, but nothing came and then we weren't asked if we wanted something to drink... I would say bad service.

Always recommended. I enjoy going here with friends and family. Always nice service. A great highlight is the terrace directly on the Dortmund-Ems Canal including ships and freighters passing by. Often used as a stopover by bicycle or biker groups. The food is always delicious and plentiful, with something for everyone.

Everything was great - but there is one star less because there are no complete dishes. e.g. B. Schnitzel with croquettes and salad. The portion of fries and salad doesn't have to be that huge and the price has to be calculated accordingly. Now the side dish portions are very large and fries cost €3.90. The mayo costs another €1 and salad €4.50. The dish becomes very expensive and is almost impossible to make; leftovers have to be thrown away.

It was again very cozy, tasty and relaxed with you. Many thanks to the entire team.

immer wenn wir unsere Freunde in Lingen besuchen, gehen wir in den grünen Jäger zum Essen. Hier sitzt man wirklich schön bei gutem Wetter an der Ems. Aber auch im Inneren der Gastwirtschaft sitzt man wirklich schön. Es gibt regionale Gerichte und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist fair. Das Personal ist freundlich und das Essen gut.

The meal takes a very long time. But the service was nice and we felt comfortable. The salad was fresh, but now priced at an upper level. The sauce is nothing special. Everything was edible, tasty, but not a highlight. Price-wise, completely okay. Can be done well.

We have been guests here 2-3 times and again yesterday we were served very nicely and had a delicious meal. For me I had the Monster Burger with fries. Everything was still very hot, deliciously seasoned and in great quantities! Great ambience inside and outside.

Very friendly employees, service was fast. Too bad you have to wait a long time for a reservation otherwise all ok very good food.

We discovered this super cool location by chance on a tour through Emsland. Great service, delicious food and a cozy atmosphere inside and outside. We say thank you ... and will definitely come back when we are in Emsland.
