Best food, top service. Thank you!

The taste of the food is convincing across the board, very tasty with the best schnitzel I have ever eaten. The price for a 3-course menu is around 68 euros, which is suitable for the taste experience. Then why only 4 stars? The service made a mistake that was unforgivable for me (personally!). What happened ? Now the schnitzels are deliberately very thin and therefore not really filling, at least if you only order one. It is customary at Grubers to ask for a second helping, i.e. a second schnitzel. That's great - I think it's really good. At the neighboring tables I saw that a third schnitzel had even been brought, problem for me, I wasn't asked and the plates were simply removed after the second schnitzel without asking. Incredibly sad. This is a really terrible mistake, especially in a restaurant where a lot of effort is put into it. As I said, it is a personal feeling. Admittedly, I can eat a lot and if it tastes particularly good then I will. It really annoyed me - so much so that I probably won't stop by again. Really a shame. Otherwise, an absolute recommendation, definitely try it out and register for the 3rd schnitzel early 😀

Incredibly warm atmosphere with lots of details and modern chic. The food is absolutely fantastic. Quite exquisite, sophisticated, but still down to earth. Since I was there by car, I drank the fruit essences with my meal. A real treat, especially apple/rose. Great service. I can only recommend it

Thanks to Google, we came across this great restaurant for a Christmas meal. Great cuisine, great service... We'll definitely come back if we really want to have a really good meal.

Yesterday, Christmas Day, we went to Grubers in the evening. The Christmas menu was fantastic. Smaller changes could be discussed in advance. The corresponding wine recommendations went perfectly with the individual courses. The service was very good. All in all a very successful evening.

I was there for dinner as part of a birthday. Due to several intolerances, I had asked in advance whether certain foods were included in the individual courses. The whole thing was noted and excellent attention was paid to every course and greeting from the kitchen! I have rarely felt so good while eating! Everything tasted excellent and there was a great atmosphere in a smaller room at the back with 4 tables. Thank you for the effort and the food!

We ordered the four-course surprise menu with wine accompaniment. The food was surprising: everything was beautifully prepared with excellent taste, almost star-level. We would order this again at any time and would have deserved a better rating. What was really disappointing was the wine pairing: the first white and red wine were weak, far away from the standard of the food. The other wines were okay, but no revelation or surprise. Only the dessert wine was really convincing. For the price paid, the selection and quality were clearly too poor. We would change our mind another time and choose two nice bottles. I like the ambience itself. However, we were given a table next to the kitchen and in the passage area with cold drafts on the wall, which wasn't quite as comfortable. The service was extremely friendly and very motivated. We didn't lack anything.

Absolutely authentic Austrian cuisine. A great team with an eye for service. We don't even need to talk about food. This is just fantastic.

The food is excellent; we enjoyed it very much. It is unfortunate that at lunchtime it is served on very small plates and the two voluminous schnitzels have to be squeezed onto them due to the breading. It would also be desirable if the service served the bouillon that goes with the boiled beef, which was served in a jug, straight onto the beef at the table. It was overlooked by my companion and the meat was found to be quite dry without it. Unfortunately, the request for service came too late.

We were in the restaurant with 5 people and had asked in advance about a vegan menu for one person. First of all: the person concerned was very satisfied with the selection of the 4-course menu (other restaurants clearly have some catching up to do here). The same applies to the other people who enjoyed the classic menu (fried chicken with salad, boiled beef bouillon, schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn). The service staff deserve special mention, as they are attentive and extremely friendly and make you feel welcome as a guest. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Austrian restaurant. You sit quite well, maybe your feet are a bit cold. We had the traditional menu. Schnitzel is better, boiled beef is very good. Fried chicken moderate. Good wine selection. €€€. Very nice toilets, very nice glasses.

Gruber's Restaurant in Cologne gave us a wonderful evening. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and we immediately felt at home. The highlight was of course the food – every dish tasted excellent and was carefully prepared. The ingredients were fresh and the presentation creative, which made the dining experience even more special. The service also deserves special praise: attentive, friendly and always professional. It seemed as if the team really enjoyed working to ensure the guests had a perfect evening. Without question, we can recommend Gruber's Restaurant with a clear conscience. An ideal place for an enjoyable evening in Cologne!

Wie jedes Jahr sind wir zum Hochzeitstag im Gruber's eingekehrt, da wir hier auch unsere Hochzeit gefeiert haben. Muss man noch viele Worte machen? Ich könnte jedes Jahr die gleichen begeisterten Worte über die Menüauswahl und die fast unendliche Auswahl an Wein und Spirituosen schreiben. Ich könnte wie jedes Jahr über den hervorragenden, aufmerksamen aber unaufdringlichen und kompetenten Service berichten. Aber ich will mich auf einen Punkt beschränken, der zumindest in unserer Erinnerung gegenüber dem letzten Mal (November 2023) neu war - neben der immer guten Weinbegleitung gibt es jetzt auch eine Begleitung mit alkoholfreien Getränken. Und das waren nicht irgendwelche "banalen" Säfte, sondern tolle Ideen. Gestartet wurde noch relativ unspektakulär mit einem Marillennektar vom Stift Klosterneuburg und steigerte sich dann über einen Rose-Apfelsaft zu einem absolut aromatischen Quittensaft. Und alles war eine wunderbare Begleitung zu den jeweiligen Gängen. Also alles in allem - nicht nur sehr gut wie immer, sondern sogar noch mal besser, weil es jetzt auch tolle und variantenreichere nicht alkoholische Optionen gibt. Wir sind bestimmt auch spätestens im November 2025 wieder da.

Österreichische Küche modern angerichtet. Es gibt 4 verschiedene Menüs zur Auswahl, man kann aber auch zwischen den Menüs noch variieren. Die Weinauswahl ist riesig und bietet Weine in allen Preisklassen. Alle Mitarbeitenden waren sehr aufmerksam und freundlich und es hat super geschmeckt. Es hat super geschmeckt.

What an amazing experience. The atmosphere, staff, and menu is simply amazing. We received the best recommendations from the somelier. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was out of this world, with complexity and thoughtfulness in every dish.

If I could, I would add another star. The service was amazing 👏 The concept was refreshing, and the food was truly exceptional. It was an all in all fabulous gastronomical experience.

Went in with a lot of expectations and was treated like dirt. We were laughed at when we entered the restaurant because of our clothing. The food was tasty, but the service was very, very bad. You could only order from the menu, which was not known beforehand.

Simply delicious. The only small downer: In the evening you can only choose from 3, 4 or 5 course menus if you can eat that much. A simple fried chicken, possibly with dessert, would be enough for me.

The location is nice. The service perfect. For our taste, the individual dishes in the menu were good, but unfortunately some of them were completely drowned by the broth. Unfortunately, this changed and over-spiced the actual taste. I would have liked to enjoy the red snapper pure, for example it was swimming in the same broth as the rest. It's a shame. It would be nice to just put the sauce or something similar next to it and let the guest decide for themselves whether they want to admit it or not. Overall, a great evening, but it doesn't (yet) come close to other top-class restaurants. P.S. The Kaiserschmarrn is great - it couldn't be topped with cranberry cream!

Everything is fine, always happy. My request for a "beautiful" table for a birthday was taken into account. At the end, the celebrant was presented with a surprise and a sparkler. Nice selection of tasty dishes, quite large portions, good service, harmonious atmosphere. It was also no problem to swap the individual dishes from different menu suggestions!

Food is a matter of taste. There was nothing wrong with the food. We had the 6 course surprise menu. But when I compare the price-performance ratio with other restaurants with similar pricing, I only get average. There were too many, I'll call them creams, as a side dish for our taste. Potato cream, sweet cream, savory cream, simply nothing to chew. This felt like it ran through all the corridors. Wine is also a matter of taste. We had 4 different Austrian white wines, recommended by a sommelier at prices between 40 and 65€ for a bottle. So far good, but not quite our taste. We found the ambience and service really good.

Absolutely great. In every way. Great service. Top food. Nice, relaxed place. We had 2 different lunch menus. Everything was very sophisticated, delicious and appetizingly prepared. We were full but not uncomfortably oversaturated. It comes at a price. But it's worth every euro. An experience! A full recommendation.

A perfect evening. We were there for the 5 or 7 course menu. There were unexpected greetings from the kitchen and intermediate courses, so we probably ended up enjoying more of a 10-course meal (at no extra charge, mind you!). When we had a minor complaint, they immediately offered to serve the course again, this time perfectly. Here they are very concerned about the well-being and satisfaction of the guest. We spent almost 5 hours here and didn't regret a second. You have the feeling of a special and high-quality experience in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The food truly embodies the concept of “classics reimagined” and is outstanding. We will definitely be back and can fully recommend a visit. Just great!!

Yes, the food is, the service is, price performance is upscale and, if good food is important, okay too. When we meet friends in Cologne, we like to go to Gruber's. A small selection, Viennese and/or boiled beef is perfectly fine. ... by the way, if you bend the menu backwards it makes it crazy.

The vegetarian 4 course meal was quite good, especially the gnocchi.

My brother and I just ate here for a business dinner, in September 2024. I contacted the restaurant prior to our dinner to let them know that I am vegan and gluten-free. The restaurant was so accommodating and so kind. The food was delicious, the service was professional, and I would consider Gruber's to be one of the best restaurants that I have had the pleasure of dining at in the entire world. I plan to return to Cologne next year, and will undoubtedly be dining at Gruber's again. Thank you, Gruber's.

Wir haben das Grubers erneut Mittags zum Lunch besucht und das traditionelle 3Gang-Menü genossen. Vorspeise kleiner Salat mit sehr leckerem Dressing, Hauptgang das Wiener Schnitzel und als Dessert ein Tiramisu, alles wie immer auf top-Niveau. Auch zum Mittagessen Reservierung erforderlich bzw. sinnvoll da in der Regel immer voll. Klare Empfehlung!

We enjoyed our dinner at Grubers (3-course menu, vegetarian). The service was courteous, friendly and was able to implement our change requests straight away. The vegetarian menu was imaginative and a treat! The red wine (Merlot) was delicious and a great recommendation. The ambience is relaxed yet elegant. The restaurant is located in a beautiful old building with an outdoor terrace for warmer days.

A culinary highlight. Definitely come back. Eating like in Austria. Always beautiful and delicious. And the terrace is hard to beat.

We were invited to the Österia for a birthday and experienced a culinary perfect evening with first-class service on the beautiful terrace. A real highlight.

Excellent food, especially the schnitzel is recommended. The wine selection is also extensive and high quality.

We went to Grubers for the first time today and tried the 4 and 5 course menu. Once tradition and once the “green Alps”. We are very excited. From the very friendly welcome, the excellent service to the fabulous culinary creations, everything was perfectly coordinated for us. We only saw afterwards that the restaurant has been included in the MICHELIN Guide since 2019 and is therefore recommended by MICHELIN. That really didn't surprise us. If you like a new interpretation of Austrian cuisine and want to treat yourself to a nice evening with the best service in a beautiful ambience, we recommend a visit to Gruber`s. We will be back definitely! By the way: The espresso is a bomb. Very very tasty :-)

We went in for lunch and chose only the Wiener Schnitzel. During the ordering I referred to a video online on YouTube (Max) were the owner mentioned that we could get another portion of the meat in case we are not saturated. The lady (Kellnerin) mentioned that this is only the case for dinner time if you order a menu but she could do an exception for us. As expected we were not saturated after having two small pieces of the Wiener Schnitzel and we asked another guy (Kellner) for another small portion and he denied it directly and mentioned the owner misspelled this part in the video online. In the end we paid 40€ p.P. and we were still hungry. Ended up eating another round outside to eliminate the hunger. All in all the meat was 9,5/10. Next time I will try out the menu for lunch time.

Too expensive for the quality of the food

You can spend nice time there. There are a few things that don't work properly, potatoes and soil dried out, "potato cucumber salad" wasn't done right, wasn't clever too liquid, made with cold potatoes. I didn't taste the cucumbers. And overloaded with spices.

We went to Gruber's for the first time yesterday and we were completely satisfied :)! From the very polite and accommodating telephone contact in advance to the reception and the friendly conditions as well as the wonderful atmosphere on the terrace to the very delicious food, which was really excellent! We were there with a wheelchair and barrier-free access was possible via the underground car park. Thank you very much, we would love to come back soon :)!

Heidewitzka... An Austrian in Colonia, what a great address. A visit here is a must if you want to enjoy a bit of everything. Online reservation, location, seating, greeting, staff, the food and drinks are far closer to first class... Everything here is in the first level area. Everything tasted great, right down to the espresso! Therefore again at any time. Thank you Austria

Wir waren voller Vorfreude hier essen und wurden dann doch etwas enttäuscht. Der Service war durchwachsen. Freundlich und bemüht, ja. Aber er hat weder zugehört (stilles Wasser bestellt, Sprudelwasser erhalten), noch gut beraten (man möchte den zitronigsten Gin aus den dreien, die auf der Karte stehen und bekommt einen vierten, der nicht auf der Karte stand). Das Essen war teilweise gut. Der Gurken-Kartoffelsalat war sehr schlecht, das Wiener Schnitzel gut. Das Backhendl war gut, der Kaiserschmarren viel zu süß.

We think the menu selection in the combination of tradition and modernity is successful. My experience at the Grubers restaurant in Cologne last night was simply excellent. We enjoyed the traditional menu, especially the special schnitzel, which was a real treat. The atmosphere was inviting, the service was excellent and the food was simply delicious. I can highly recommend a visit to Grubers!

Wir haben das Gruber s erstmals abends besucht und ein 4 bzw. 5 Gänge Menü genießen dürfen. Die Tisch-Reservierung ist online schnell erledigt, Parkplätze sind im Umfeld mit ein wenig Geduld auffindbar, hilfreich ist hier z. B. die Ampido-App zum Parkplatz in der Nähe reservieren. Wir wurden vom Servicepersonal herzlich begrüßt und den ganzen Abend von der jungen, weiblichen Servicekraft hervorragend betreut und unterhalten, absolut angenehme, entspannte Atmosphäre, nichts überkandideltes, keine Frage wirkte deplatziert, Chapeau! Das Menü war exzellent, von den verschiedenen Vorspeisen über das Wiener Schnitzel bis zum Kaiserschmarren, herausragend gut! Am meisten überrascht hat uns der Steinbutt, mega lecker, unbedingt probieren. Positiv zu erwähnen ist dass man auch aus verschiedenen Menüs Gerichte auswählen und zusammenstellen kann, so kann sich jeder sein individuelles Menü zusammenstellen, top. Wir hatten bei uns am Tisch eine Mischung aus 4 Gängen und 5 Gängen, hier musste trotzdem niemand eine Runde aussetzen da es aus der Küche hierzu ein kleines Überbrückungsgericht gab, sehr aufmerksam. Die zum Menü gebuchte Weinbegleitung können wir uneingeschränkt empfehlen, sehr gute Weine wo auch zwischendurch nochmal nachgeschenkt wurde. Kommen wir final zu den Kosten, wir lagen für das 4 bzw. 5 Gänge Menü samt Weinbegleitung und Aperitif bei grob ca. 145€ pro Person, Preis-Leistung absolut fair! Fazit: Top-Empfehlung für Köln!

Uns wurde ein Menü der Superlative serviert. Es war eine Kunst auf österreichisch! Nicht nur das Wienerschnitzel - fluffig - leicht und sehr geschmackvoll, sondern auch das Kalbstatar und der Backhendlsalat waren hervorragend. Der Service gekonnt professionell und die Michelin Sterne am richtigem Ort. Herr Scholz wusste die Vielfalt an österreichischen Wein gut zu platzieren. Dem auch ein Dank dafür. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

CAUTION!!!! Unfortunately, there is an error on the website where you can choose between à la carte and a course menu when making dinner reservations. We decided on à la carte because we just wanted to try it out and only had a limited amount of time and did NOT want to be tied to the course menu, as it takes a lot of time - when we arrived at the restaurant we were given the menu cards and We had to decide between a 3-6 course menu. Here I thought we got the wrong card. No, because there are only course menus to choose from. When I asked why it was displayed on the website, they just said, yes, guests complain about it on a regular basis... Ie. you are lured into the restaurant with à la carte, where you could easily be through within 45-60 minutes - but then you HAVE to spend 120-180 minutes there because the concept only works with a course menu... The high point was when we said goodbye after 150 minutes that lunch was à la carte. But the chef and manager couldn't make any exceptions either. So we had a 4 course and a 5 course menu, which was ok - BUT if you don't have time it's really annoying to have a plate put on the table every 10-15 minutes!!! Well, talk to your dev, he should remove the second button for the evening reservation - as soon as this happens, we'll be happy to come back and re-evaluate you. Unfortunately, this leaves 1 star everywhere because this borders on scam.

Very disappointing!!! When we wanted to order, we were told that every guest was obliged to order a three-course meal. Such a concept seems counterintuitive to me in what is at best an upper-middle-class restaurant, where you don't necessarily intend to go on a culinary sensory journey with the Wiener Schnitzel. What was remarkable was the harsh and lack of goodwill approach to our request to order à la carte. This farce then ended with us paying for our drinks and leaving the restaurant without dinner.

Classic Austrian cuisine at the highest level. Compared to other fine dining restaurants, I find it exciting at Grubers that they don't try to develop extraordinary new creations, but rather prepare very simple dishes to absolute perfection.

Milan and Ornella do a great job with the service, explain the dishes to you and are overall very attentive and attentive to the customer. The kitchen conjures up new, interesting flavor combinations from the familiar menu, and the drinks menu is also impressive. The sommelier had nothing to do at our table because we were alcohol-free, but you can see what Nico is doing at the neighboring tables, and there too, never intrusive, but very helpful. All in all, a visit that won't be the last.
