Austrian cuisine in its best guise. From the friendly service to the tasteful decor to the perfect Wiener Schnitzel, everything was perfect. The desserts are also to die for.

The food was outstanding! The traditional menu with 3 courses was completely sufficient and the service was very accommodating! Only recommended.

The atmosphere at Grubers is beautiful and the food is really good. The service was very friendly and accommodating when we arrived and you could see that great value was placed on this in the restaurant. However, it decreased significantly over the course of the evening. At the beginning the breaks between the courses were good, but dessert took a long time to arrive. After the meal we were asked if we wanted coffee and ordered some. He didn't come anymore, it was now around 10:30 p.m., but there were still many guests there. We ordered the bill, which came quickly and paid. At home we noticed that the coffee was on it. No waiter said goodbye to us as we left, and our coats were no longer handed out. Conclusion: very nice restaurant, great food, but the service should still maintain the initial standard towards the end; After all, you invest p.p. 120€ or more.

The best schnitzel I've ever eaten. We were there today around 2 p.m. and it was very tasty. However, the blonde and slightly older waitress wasn't quite as charming. I don't know what it was, I hope it wasn't because of the hair color. But I will definitely test it again. You can't find a schnitzel like this everywhere.

Unfortunately, I was so excited that I forgot to take photos. The food was to die for. The wines are mega. The atmosphere is very nice and you immediately feel at home. The staff friendly, attentive and accommodating. I look forward to the next visit. The prices are a bit high, but worth every cent!

A top address for enjoying fine Austrian cuisine. The restaurant is well located and elegantly and comfortably furnished. Parking is a bit difficult. There are plenty of free street parking spaces, but they all fill up quickly. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Not in an "upscale" way, but human, approachable, and pleasant. Our service was excellent, and the employee/intern Max was also very accommodating and enthusiastic. Our dog was very welcome. Thank you very much.

We ate at Gruber's again yesterday. We have actually been very impressed with the ambience, service and food so far. Yesterday, however, we were “outsourced” to new rooms. The feeling of well-being there was significantly limited. In addition, the quality of the food was also not as usual. At these prices you can actually expect perfect service, excellent food and a nice ambience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. We will probably have to look for another location in the future. Too bad.

Gruber's was an invitation for a business 3-course dinner. The place is a sophisticated setting, ideal for a professional gathering. Upon arrival, we were impressed by the elegant atmosphere and the attentive service. The 3-course dinner menu offered a range of exquisite dishes, and we were pleased to find that the cuisine was expertly prepared and presented. Each dish was cooked to perfection, with flavours and textures that complemented each other beautifully. The wine selection was also a great addition to the palate, with a variety of options that paired seamlessly with the meal. Throughout the evening, the staff were courteous and efficient, ensuring that our needs were met and that the dinner progressed smoothly. Overall, Gruber's proved to be an excellent choice for a business dinner, providing a refined and comfortable environment in which to engage in meaningful discussions and build relationships.

All around a very nice culinary experience. The courses are very tasty and well coordinated. The staff is very friendly and attentive and responds to all requests. In the evening menu you can actually find something for every taste.

We had the pleasure of visiting this beautifully decorated restaurant and were hooked from the first moment. The tasteful furnishings are designed with great attention to detail and create an atmosphere in which you immediately feel at home. Our place in a cozy corner also helped us to enjoy the visit to the fullest. The menu is small but well thought out, with dishes that consistently sounded appealing. We chose the Wiener Schnitzel, which tasted very good, although it was exceptionally thin - a method of preparation that we have never encountered before. But the real surprise of the evening was the side salad with cucumbers and potatoes. We have rarely eaten such an excellently seasoned salad - it was fresh and perfectly seasoned. We almost named him the star of the meal! We would definitely have appreciated a larger portion of it. The cranberries with the schnitzel could also have been a little more generous. The young lady who served us was exceptionally friendly and seemed warm - a pleasant, natural manner that is often replaced by excessive formality in more upscale restaurants. Your attentive but unobtrusive service made our visit even more pleasant. The rest of the staff was polite but less present. What was particularly positive was that the head of the house took the time to greet each guest personally - a gesture that is no longer a given in today's gastronomy. The farewell was also very warm and left an overall positive impression. At the end we enjoyed a cappuccino that was not only visually appealing, but also tasted impressive - full-bodied, aromatic and with a nice finish. The prices for lunch were absolutely fair, and the drinks were even pleasantly cheap. Although the restaurant is conveniently located, parking in the area is a real challenge. Overall, a wonderful restaurant with a stylish ambience, good food and service that is characterized by genuine warmth. If the schnitzel were a little thicker and the side dishes were portioned a little more generously, it would be perfect for us. We were very happy to get to know this restaurant and will definitely come back.

I was there for lunch. I heard about the legendary Wiener Schnitzel online. The waitress was super friendly and gave us good advice. The schnitzel was really incredibly tasty. The best thing I've eaten so far. When we had finished eating we were asked if we wanted another schnitzel, which was included in the price. That was super nice and a great sustainability concept. Unfortunately, the schnitzel is only available individually as we had it for lunch during the week, which is a bit of a shame. It would be nicer if you could also get it in the evening because the menus don't appeal to me that much.

Overall I liked it. An attempt to present the fried and breaded food as high cuisine was successful. I can't imagine breading getting any better. The Kaiserschmarrn for dessert was the highlight. It's a fine dining restaurant, so I'm always a bit critical when it comes to the price/performance ratio. If you can afford it, why not. Good schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn can also be found elsewhere for much cheaper without compromising on quality.

It's too expensive, poor performance

The 6-course surprise menu was a real treat for the palate, from the greeting from the kitchen to the dessert. Very great atmosphere with friendly, competent staff. The higher price is 100% justified.

Die Speisen sind von hervorragender Qualität. Das Ambiente lädt zu einem gemütlichen Abend ein. Die Bedienung war äußerst kompetent, sehr hilfsbereit freundlich. Kleiner Abzug in der B Note: Die Schnitzel hatten die Stärke wie gekochter Schinken. Man hätte hier gerne etwas mehr Fleischvolumen gehabt. Dann würde man auch Schnitzel schmecken und nicht nur Panade. Sonst war alles perfekt !

Das Essen war hervorragend. Das Essen wurde in einer guten zeitlichen Abfolge serviert. Der Service war sehr freundlich, aber hatte 1-2 Fehler (unkonzentriert). Sehr schönes Ambiente. Insgesamt sehr zu empfehlen und gerne wieder.

A true experience. Both at lunchtime and in the evening. You feel comfortable in this atmosphere. Large selection, very nice but unobtrusive staff and excellent food. The latter is just straight forward and to the point with no frills.

An outstanding experience – and not without good reason, the benchmark for Austrian cuisine in Cologne for 25 years! We enjoyed the 4-course menu and loved every single dish. The boiled beef bouillon was intense and aromatic, and the tartare was perfectly balanced. The Kasnocken are a dream made of creamy cheese, hearty and yet light. Then the Wiener Schnitzel – pounded thin like parchment, yet juicy and with a breading that puffs up like a cloud. Perfection! The crowning glory: Kaiserschmarren, airy, caramelized and simply irresistible. In addition, an excellent wine accompaniment was recommended, which perfectly underlined each dish. The service was on point, professional, authentic and warm - just the right mix of charm and competence. A culinary experience at the highest level – we will definitely be back!

Good quality food, but very poor service. Some apparently no skilled workers. For example, we were left completely alone with empty glasses for half an hour because the service person in charge had obviously finished her duties. No one came by to ask us for more drinks for half an hour. No greeting when saying goodbye or help finding your wardrobe. We definitely won't be coming back.

An absolutely first class experience and definitely worth the price! Everything was perfect from start to finish: the staff is nice and accommodating. The rooms are nicely furnished and you can sit comfortably and comfortably. And the food is definitely in a class of its own! Anyone who has been here should definitely try the Wiener Schnitzel, it clearly stands out from the rest. Another highlight I personally found was the newly interpreted Sacher Torte. Perfect all around, we would love to come back!

The taste of the food is convincing across the board, very tasty with the best schnitzel I have ever eaten. The price for a 3-course menu is around 68 euros, which is suitable for the taste experience. Then why only 4 stars? The service made a mistake that was unforgivable for me (personally!). What happened ? Now the schnitzels are deliberately very thin and therefore not really filling, at least if you only order one. It is customary at Grubers to ask for a second helping, i.e. a second schnitzel. That's great - I think it's really good. At the neighboring tables I saw that a third schnitzel had even been brought, problem for me, I wasn't asked and the plates were simply removed after the second schnitzel without asking. Incredibly sad. This is a really terrible mistake, especially in a restaurant where a lot of effort is put into it. As I said, it is a personal feeling. Admittedly, I can eat a lot and if it tastes particularly good then I will. It really annoyed me - so much so that I probably won't stop by again. Really a shame. Otherwise, an absolute recommendation, definitely try it out and register for the 3rd schnitzel early 😀

Incredibly warm atmosphere with lots of details and modern chic. The food is absolutely fantastic. Quite exquisite, sophisticated, but still down to earth. Since I was there by car, I drank the fruit essences with my meal. A real treat, especially apple/rose. Great service. I can only recommend it

Thanks to Google, we came across this great restaurant for a Christmas meal. Great cuisine, great service... We'll definitely come back if we really want to have a really good meal.

Yesterday, Christmas Day, we went to Grubers in the evening. The Christmas menu was fantastic. Smaller changes could be discussed in advance. The corresponding wine recommendations went perfectly with the individual courses. The service was very good. All in all a very successful evening.

Von „Fine Food Days“ animiert haben wir Gruber‘s Weihnachtsmenue genossen. Es war ein (wenn auch hochpreisiges) Erlebnis, das wir gerne weiter empfehlen. Nicht nur die excellent zusammengestellte Speisenfolge, sondern auch der sehr angenehme Service haben uns überzeugt. Wir werden - auch zu „normalen“ Zeiten - auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

Wie immer wurden wir sehr freundlich empfangen und vom tollen Servicepersonal den ganzen Abend hervorragend betreut und unterhalten, gute Präsentation der Weine und Speisen, in angenehm lockerer Atmosphäre, Chapeau! Gebeizte Körntner Seeforelle, Hirschbäckchen, der Klassiker Wiener Schnitzel, das Dessert, alles wie immer exzellent. Sehr große Weinauswahl mit hervorragenden, österreichischen Top-Weinen, auch zur Weinauswahl wurden wir hervorragend beraten. Fazit: macht süchtig! 👌

Wir haben den Abend sehr genossen! Das traditionelle Menü und auch das moderne Menü waren sehr fein, auf den Punkt zubereitet & von den Portionen her sehr ausgewogen. Die passende Weinempfehlung hat uns ebenso gefallen (Grauburgunder von Krispel aus der Steiermark, wenig Säure, tolle Frucht, sehr elegant). Aufmerksamer, freundlicher und niveauvoller Service. I was there for dinner as part of a birthday. Due to several intolerances, I had asked in advance whether certain foods were included in the individual courses. The whole thing was noted and excellent attention was paid to every course and greeting from the kitchen! I have rarely felt so good while eating! Everything tasted excellent and there was a great atmosphere in a smaller room at the back with 4 tables. Thank you for the effort and the food!

We ordered the four-course surprise menu with wine accompaniment. The food was surprising: everything was beautifully prepared with excellent taste, almost star-level. We would order this again at any time and would have deserved a better rating. What was really disappointing was the wine pairing: the first white and red wine were weak, far away from the standard of the food. The other wines were okay, but no revelation or surprise. Only the dessert wine was really convincing. For the price paid, the selection and quality were clearly too poor. We would change our mind another time and choose two nice bottles. I like the ambience itself. However, we were given a table next to the kitchen and in the passage area with cold drafts on the wall, which wasn't quite as comfortable. The service was extremely friendly and very motivated. We didn't lack anything.

Absolutely authentic Austrian cuisine. A great team with an eye for service. We don't even need to talk about food. This is just fantastic.

The food is excellent; we enjoyed it very much. It is unfortunate that at lunchtime it is served on very small plates and the two voluminous schnitzels have to be squeezed onto them due to the breading. It would also be desirable if the service served the bouillon that goes with the boiled beef, which was served in a jug, straight onto the beef at the table. It was overlooked by my companion and the meat was found to be quite dry without it. Unfortunately, the request for service came too late.

We were in the restaurant with 5 people and had asked in advance about a vegan menu for one person. First of all: the person concerned was very satisfied with the selection of the 4-course menu (other restaurants clearly have some catching up to do here). The same applies to the other people who enjoyed the classic menu (fried chicken with salad, boiled beef bouillon, schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn). The service staff deserve special mention, as they are attentive and extremely friendly and make you feel welcome as a guest. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Austrian restaurant. You sit quite well, maybe your feet are a bit cold. We had the traditional menu. Schnitzel is better, boiled beef is very good. Fried chicken moderate. Good wine selection. €€€. Very nice toilets, very nice glasses.

Gruber's Restaurant in Cologne gave us a wonderful evening. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and we immediately felt at home. The highlight was of course the food – every dish tasted excellent and was carefully prepared. The ingredients were fresh and the presentation creative, which made the dining experience even more special. The service also deserves special praise: attentive, friendly and always professional. It seemed as if the team really enjoyed working to ensure the guests had a perfect evening. Without question, we can recommend Gruber's Restaurant with a clear conscience. An ideal place for an enjoyable evening in Cologne!

Wie jedes Jahr sind wir zum Hochzeitstag im Gruber's eingekehrt, da wir hier auch unsere Hochzeit gefeiert haben. Muss man noch viele Worte machen? Ich könnte jedes Jahr die gleichen begeisterten Worte über die Menüauswahl und die fast unendliche Auswahl an Wein und Spirituosen schreiben. Ich könnte wie jedes Jahr über den hervorragenden, aufmerksamen aber unaufdringlichen und kompetenten Service berichten. Aber ich will mich auf einen Punkt beschränken, der zumindest in unserer Erinnerung gegenüber dem letzten Mal (November 2023) neu war - neben der immer guten Weinbegleitung gibt es jetzt auch eine Begleitung mit alkoholfreien Getränken. Und das waren nicht irgendwelche "banalen" Säfte, sondern tolle Ideen. Gestartet wurde noch relativ unspektakulär mit einem Marillennektar vom Stift Klosterneuburg und steigerte sich dann über einen Rose-Apfelsaft zu einem absolut aromatischen Quittensaft. Und alles war eine wunderbare Begleitung zu den jeweiligen Gängen. Also alles in allem - nicht nur sehr gut wie immer, sondern sogar noch mal besser, weil es jetzt auch tolle und variantenreichere nicht alkoholische Optionen gibt. Wir sind bestimmt auch spätestens im November 2025 wieder da.

Österreichische Küche modern angerichtet. Es gibt 4 verschiedene Menüs zur Auswahl, man kann aber auch zwischen den Menüs noch variieren. Die Weinauswahl ist riesig und bietet Weine in allen Preisklassen. Alle Mitarbeitenden waren sehr aufmerksam und freundlich und es hat super geschmeckt. Es hat super geschmeckt.

If I could, I would add another star. The service was amazing 👏 The concept was refreshing, and the food was truly exceptional. It was an all in all fabulous gastronomical experience.

Went in with a lot of expectations and was treated like dirt. We were laughed at when we entered the restaurant because of our clothing. The food was tasty, but the service was very, very bad. You could only order from the menu, which was not known beforehand.

Simply delicious. The only small downer: In the evening you can only choose from 3, 4 or 5 course menus if you can eat that much. A simple fried chicken, possibly with dessert, would be enough for me.

The location is nice. The service perfect. For our taste, the individual dishes in the menu were good, but unfortunately some of them were completely drowned by the broth. Unfortunately, this changed and over-spiced the actual taste. I would have liked to enjoy the red snapper pure, for example it was swimming in the same broth as the rest. It's a shame. It would be nice to just put the sauce or something similar next to it and let the guest decide for themselves whether they want to admit it or not. Overall, a great evening, but it doesn't (yet) come close to other top-class restaurants. P.S. The Kaiserschmarrn is great - it couldn't be topped with cranberry cream!

Everything is fine, always happy. My request for a "beautiful" table for a birthday was taken into account. At the end, the celebrant was presented with a surprise and a sparkler. Nice selection of tasty dishes, quite large portions, good service, harmonious atmosphere. It was also no problem to swap the individual dishes from different menu suggestions!

Food is a matter of taste. There was nothing wrong with the food. We had the 6 course surprise menu. But when I compare the price-performance ratio with other restaurants with similar pricing, I only get average. There were too many, I'll call them creams, as a side dish for our taste. Potato cream, sweet cream, savory cream, simply nothing to chew. This felt like it ran through all the corridors. Wine is also a matter of taste. We had 4 different Austrian white wines, recommended by a sommelier at prices between 40 and 65€ for a bottle. So far good, but not quite our taste. We found the ambience and service really good.

Absolutely great. In every way. Great service. Top food. Nice, relaxed place. We had 2 different lunch menus. Everything was very sophisticated, delicious and appetizingly prepared. We were full but not uncomfortably oversaturated. It comes at a price. But it's worth every euro. An experience! A full recommendation.

A perfect evening. We were there for the 5 or 7 course menu. There were unexpected greetings from the kitchen and intermediate courses, so we probably ended up enjoying more of a 10-course meal (at no extra charge, mind you!). When we had a minor complaint, they immediately offered to serve the course again, this time perfectly. Here they are very concerned about the well-being and satisfaction of the guest. We spent almost 5 hours here and didn't regret a second. You have the feeling of a special and high-quality experience in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The food truly embodies the concept of “classics reimagined” and is outstanding. We will definitely be back and can fully recommend a visit. Just great!!

Yes, the food is, the service is, price performance is upscale and, if good food is important, okay too. When we meet friends in Cologne, we like to go to Gruber's. A small selection, Viennese and/or boiled beef is perfectly fine. ... by the way, if you bend the menu backwards it makes it crazy.

The vegetarian 4 course meal was quite good, especially the gnocchi.

We treat ourselves to Gruber's Restaurant once a year. Once again everything was at its finest! Service, food and wine pairing were simply great! Thank you very much and see you next year.

We have eaten here several times and have not been disappointed. Burgers and pizzas are plentiful and delicious. Simply recommended.

My brother and I just ate here for a business dinner, in September 2024. I contacted the restaurant prior to our dinner to let them know that I am vegan and gluten-free. The restaurant was so accommodating and so kind. The food was delicious, the service was professional, and I would consider Gruber's to be one of the best restaurants that I have had the pleasure of dining at in the entire world. I plan to return to Cologne next year, and will undoubtedly be dining at Gruber's again. Thank you, Gruber's.

Vorspeise kleiner Salat mit sehr leckerem Dressing, Hauptgang das Wiener Schnitzel und als Dessert ein Tiramisu, alles wie immer auf top-Niveau. We enjoyed our dinner at Grubers (3-course menu, vegetarian). The service was courteous, friendly and was able to implement our change requests straight away. The vegetarian menu was imaginative and a treat! The red wine (Merlot) was delicious and a great recommendation. The ambience is relaxed yet elegant. The restaurant is located in a beautiful old building with an outdoor terrace for warmer days.
