We went to Grubers for the first time today and tried the 4 and 5 course menu. Once tradition and once the “green Alps”. We are very excited. From the very friendly welcome, the excellent service to the fabulous culinary creations, everything was perfectly coordinated for us. We only saw afterwards that the restaurant has been included in the MICHELIN Guide since 2019 and is therefore recommended by MICHELIN. That really didn't surprise us. If you like a new interpretation of Austrian cuisine and want to treat yourself to a nice evening with the best service in a beautiful ambience, we recommend a visit to Gruber`s. We will be back definitely! By the way: The espresso is a bomb. Very very tasty :-)

We went in for lunch and chose only the Wiener Schnitzel. During the ordering I referred to a video online on YouTube (Max) were the owner mentioned that we could get another portion of the meat in case we are not saturated. The lady (Kellnerin) mentioned that this is only the case for dinner time if you order a menu but she could do an exception for us. As expected we were not saturated after having two small pieces of the Wiener Schnitzel and we asked another guy (Kellner) for another small portion and he denied it directly and mentioned the owner misspelled this part in the video online. In the end we paid 40€ p.P. and we were still hungry. Ended up eating another round outside to eliminate the hunger. All in all the meat was 9,5/10. Next time I will try out the menu for lunch time.

Too expensive for the quality of the food

You can spend nice time there. There are a few things that don't work properly, potatoes and soil dried out, "potato cucumber salad" wasn't done right, wasn't clever too liquid, made with cold potatoes. I didn't taste the cucumbers. And overloaded with spices.

We went to Gruber's for the first time yesterday and we were completely satisfied :)! From the very polite and accommodating telephone contact in advance to the reception and the friendly conditions as well as the wonderful atmosphere on the terrace to the very delicious food, which was really excellent! We were there with a wheelchair and barrier-free access was possible via the underground car park. Thank you very much, we would love to come back soon :)!

It was a wonderful lunch for my birthday. Apart from the attractive interior design and, of course, very good food, the service in particular left a lasting impression on us. Wir waren voller Vorfreude hier essen und wurden dann doch etwas enttäuscht. Der Service war durchwachsen. Freundlich und bemüht, ja. Aber er hat weder zugehört (stilles Wasser bestellt, Sprudelwasser erhalten), noch gut beraten (man möchte den zitronigsten Gin aus den dreien, die auf der Karte stehen und bekommt einen vierten, der nicht auf der Karte stand). Das Essen war teilweise gut. Der Gurken-Kartoffelsalat war sehr schlecht, das Wiener Schnitzel gut. Das Backhendl war gut, der Kaiserschmarren viel zu süß.

Online reservation, location, seating, greeting, staff, the food and drinks are far closer to first class... Everything here is in the first level area. My experience at the Grubers restaurant in Cologne last night was simply excellent. We enjoyed the traditional menu, especially the special schnitzel, which was a real treat. The atmosphere was inviting, the service was excellent and the food was simply delicious. I can highly recommend a visit to Grubers!

Wir haben das Gruber s erstmals abends besucht und ein 4 bzw. 5 Gänge Menü genießen dürfen. Die Tisch-Reservierung ist online schnell erledigt, Parkplätze sind im Umfeld mit ein wenig Geduld auffindbar, hilfreich ist hier z. B. die Ampido-App zum Parkplatz in der Nähe reservieren. Wir wurden vom Servicepersonal herzlich begrüßt und den ganzen Abend von der jungen, weiblichen Servicekraft hervorragend betreut und unterhalten, absolut angenehme, entspannte Atmosphäre, nichts überkandideltes, keine Frage wirkte deplatziert, Chapeau! Das Menü war exzellent, von den verschiedenen Vorspeisen über das Wiener Schnitzel bis zum Kaiserschmarren, herausragend gut! Am meisten überrascht hat uns der Steinbutt, mega lecker, unbedingt probieren. Positiv zu erwähnen ist dass man auch aus verschiedenen Menüs Gerichte auswählen und zusammenstellen kann, so kann sich jeder sein individuelles Menü zusammenstellen, top. Wir hatten bei uns am Tisch eine Mischung aus 4 Gängen und 5 Gängen, hier musste trotzdem niemand eine Runde aussetzen da es aus der Küche hierzu ein kleines Überbrückungsgericht gab, sehr aufmerksam. Die zum Menü gebuchte Weinbegleitung können wir uneingeschränkt empfehlen, sehr gute Weine wo auch zwischendurch nochmal nachgeschenkt wurde. Kommen wir final zu den Kosten, wir lagen für das 4 bzw. 5 Gänge Menü samt Weinbegleitung und Aperitif bei grob ca. 145€ pro Person, Preis-Leistung absolut fair! Fazit: Top-Empfehlung für Köln!

Uns wurde ein Menü der Superlative serviert. Es war eine Kunst auf österreichisch! Nicht nur das Wienerschnitzel - fluffig - leicht und sehr geschmackvoll, sondern auch das Kalbstatar und der Backhendlsalat waren hervorragend. Der Service gekonnt professionell und die Michelin Sterne am richtigem Ort. Herr Scholz wusste die Vielfalt an österreichischen Wein gut zu platzieren. Dem auch ein Dank dafür. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

CAUTION!!!! Unfortunately, there is an error on the website where you can choose between à la carte and a course menu when making dinner reservations. We decided on à la carte because we just wanted to try it out and only had a limited amount of time and did NOT want to be tied to the course menu, as it takes a lot of time - when we arrived at the restaurant we were given the menu cards and We had to decide between a 3-6 course menu. Here I thought we got the wrong card. No, because there are only course menus to choose from. When I asked why it was displayed on the website, they just said, yes, guests complain about it on a regular basis... Ie. you are lured into the restaurant with à la carte, where you could easily be through within 45-60 minutes - but then you HAVE to spend 120-180 minutes there because the concept only works with a course menu... The high point was when we said goodbye after 150 minutes that lunch was à la carte. But the chef and manager couldn't make any exceptions either. So we had a 4 course and a 5 course menu, which was ok - BUT if you don't have time it's really annoying to have a plate put on the table every 10-15 minutes!!! Well, talk to your dev, he should remove the second button for the evening reservation - as soon as this happens, we'll be happy to come back and re-evaluate you. Unfortunately, this leaves 1 star everywhere because this borders on scam.

Outstandingly good cuisine, there's nothing to discuss. Great location and great service. However, you have to have time, everyone has to decide for themselves whether they like the whole “spectacle” around it :-)

Best schnitzel in Cologne! Great restaurant with a great ambience

Very disappointing!!! When we wanted to order, we were told that every guest was obliged to order a three-course meal. Such a concept seems counterintuitive to me in what is at best an upper-middle-class restaurant, where you don't necessarily intend to go on a culinary sensory journey with the Wiener Schnitzel. What was remarkable was the harsh and lack of goodwill approach to our request to order à la carte. This farce then ended with us paying for our drinks and leaving the restaurant without dinner.

The main course in particular was poorly cooked. Tough meat. The wine was overpriced. The terrace and service were good.

Classic Austrian cuisine at the highest level. Compared to other fine dining restaurants, I find it exciting at Grubers that they don't try to develop extraordinary new creations, but rather prepare very simple dishes to absolute perfection.

Milan and Ornella do a great job with the service, explain the dishes to you and are overall very attentive and attentive to the customer. The kitchen conjures up new, interesting flavor combinations from the familiar menu, and the drinks menu is also impressive. The sommelier had nothing to do at our table because we were alcohol-free, but you can see what Nico is doing at the neighboring tables, and there too, never intrusive, but very helpful. We were there in the evening and just wanted something to eat. In the evening there are only menus there. 3, 4 or more courses. So we decided on a three course menu. The restaurant is now back to its old, upscale level. We recently dined on the newly designed terrace and felt very comfortable. The food was again excellent. You will receive very good advice, the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The prices are high but reasonable. Not a place for every day, but for special occasions. You should reserve early, as it is usually fully booked. I've been there about six times in 2021 and always loved it. There are classics like Wiener Schnitzel, but also very original dishes, all of which taste wonderful. Unfortunately, you now have to take several courses, which is a no-go for older people; Sales are probably more important than guest satisfaction. A pity! In the long run the map is also a bit monotonous.

I ordered a 4-course meal, but there was some trouble before the 3rd main dish came out, and a service item came out, which is not what I wanted. I can agree with the positive reviews from previous guests in all respects, absolutely worth it. They were very accommodating by email in advance because I wanted a special table. Since I have a lactose and gluten intolerance, I simply left the choice of a 4-course menu (my friend ate “normal”) to the kitchen and was served with the finest care. Absolutely outstanding in every way!

We spent our anniversary there and chose the traditional 3 course menu. The waiters are very accommodating and you are always well looked after without being pushy. I can recommend the snails as a starter to everyone, especially if you want to try something unusual. The main course was of course the schnitzel - no 3 (!) schnitzels! Here it is probably common for a second schnitzel to be offered after one. I even asked for a third person and that wasn't a problem either :) For dessert there was a very tasty apple strudel and, for our special day, a small raspberry chocolate cake. We felt very welcome and all the staff seem like they really enjoy working there and serving the guests. The service was an absolute 10/10 and the food was star-worthy. I can recommend everyone to have this experience, you don't have to go to an even more expensive star restaurant. We won't forget this evening!

Stylish, upscale ambience. The restaurant was full to capacity and yet we had no restrictions. The service was excellent, well-rehearsed and extremely friendly. Never had a better schnitzel. Perfect example of how to make sophisticated food out of popular, "cheap" dishes - but there is nothing cheap about it here, ingredients are top notch, wine selection great, portions hefty, even bread is a whole wonderful dish of its own. As culinary newbies, we ventured into Grubers last night. Even though we like to eat out and certainly not infrequently, Grubers is still 1-2 price ranges higher than what we are used to. Because of the price range, I was a little worried that the atmosphere might be a bit stiff - but far from it! A nice (Austrian) welcome, fabulous service and a culinary journey that exceeded our expectations gave us a lovely evening that we haven't had in a long time. Special thanks to “Tommy” for the pleasant tour through the evening!

If you are looking for a great ambience with extremely high-quality food including attentive service, you must have been here. From the first second we felt very welcome. The food selection offers an excellent selection. And so it was qualitatively...wow. We were a bit put off booking here at first due to the long wait for an appointment on the weekend. Now I know why that is 😉. Fantastic and very special, that's what I would call Gruber's Restaurant. We would like to come again.

Most disastrous restaurant visit in the last 10 years! starting with the initially locked door, not being able to find the confirmed table reservation, not knowing the wine list, unfriendly service and having to pour the wine yourself from the wine bottle. Bread as a starter was only delivered when we asked again and then 10 seconds (!) before the main course was served. Food quality mediocre and not appropriate for the price. Dessert menu was only offered after paying for the restaurant visit. The visit was based on a recommendation, but it was a disaster. For two main courses and 1 bottle of wine a total of over 130 EUR with the worst service. Sorry, NEVER AGAIN. Addendum: This post is based on a visit to a restaurant on January 4th, 2024 in the evening. This is not a fake entry; This can be verified based on your reservations. - the visit was based on positive experiences among friends. If everything doesn't go smoothly on the first day after a company vacation, that's understandable; If everything goes wrong like above and the B team is in action, unfortunately it is no longer understandable.

Silvesterabend für zwei Personen. Vorgegebene Karte, aber auf die Fischallergie meiner Begleitung war hervorragend eingegangen worden. Etwas verwundert, das es schon um 19 Uhr los gehen sollte, aber das sollte sich als gut herausstellen. Ein tolles mehrgängiges Menü, was über die gesamte Bandbreite der österreichischen Küche ging. Dazu auch die passende Weinbegleitung. Als Autofahrer muss man sich da ein wenig zurücknehmen. Das wurde entsprechend angepasst, der Champangner um Mitternacht war sehr großzügig und es war ein schöner und entspannter Abend. Mit rund 300 Euro pro Person (je nach Getränken) nicht ganz billig, aber angemessen.

You can easily choose freely and, if necessary, combine at least 3 courses from 4 menus. In our case yesterday with 4 people, for example, various different starters, which were all very tasty. Serve with 3 schnitzel as the main course - if you appreciate schnitzel, you should eat one, or two if you wish. Very, very tasty and also visually very beautiful with a wonderfully "fluffy" breading. The venison main course was also excellent. In addition, there is a very good wine list that only includes Austrian wines and very nice and attentive service. We were more than happy!

Wir waren sehr enttäuscht. Empfang war freundlich. Man sitzt schön und bequem. Schönes Ambiente. Erster Negativer Punkt war: Man bekommt zuerst nur eine Aperitif Karte hingestellt?? Blättert und der Karte, sind aber nur zwei. Ja wo ist den die Speisekarte??? Dann fragt nach mehreren Minuten was wir denn jetzt davon wollen!! Wir wollten gar nichts davon. Erst dann bekommt man eine Speisekarte. Sorry, so plump wurde das noch nie Angeboten. Man gibt zuerst die Speisekarte und stellt die Aperitif Karte dazu mit einem Hinweis dazu. Ich brauche die Speisekarte samt der Getränkekarte, da ich erst nach der Auswahl der Speisen weiß was ich trinke. Da hat der Gast sofort ein schlechte Gewissen. Sorry, das habe ich so noch nirgendwo erlebt. Dann zum Essen. Ich bestellte als Vorspeise die Schnecken. War mal was anderes und O.K. Das Duett zur Hauptspeise war Schnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat, und ein zweierlei vom Tafelspitz. Schnitzel kalt und nicht knusprig. Das war zu 100 % schon fertig oder lag viel zu lange da, weil die anderen Gerichte nicht fertig wurden. Kartoffelsalat eher lasch. Der Tafelspitz war nicht weich und die Bouillon fast nicht gewürzt. Zu beginn der Bestellung wurden wir noch gefragt: Ob wir keinen Nachtisch wollen, da eine Person von uns einen Nachtisch hatte. Ganz ehrlich , wenn ich bei der Bestellung keinen Nachtisch bestelle möchte ich auch keinen. Und schon wieder hatten wir ein schlechtes Gewissen!!!! Waren nach vielen positiven Nachrichten, total enttäuscht. Auch unser Nachbartisch echauffierte sich wegen der Aperitif Karte. Auch sie wissen erst nach dem Blick in die Speisekarte was sie flüssiges konsumieren werden. Sorry, das habe ich noch nie so erlebt.

Gruber's Restaurant ist immer einen Besuch wert! Traditionelle, sowie kreative Küche gepaart mit top Weinen und einem super Team.

Ein tolles Restaurant. Mit Raul als Kellner eine absolute Empfehlung.

We were extremely lucky to walk in for lunch and get a table without a reservation. You do want to eat here, so please make a reservation in advance. The restaurant sits by itself in a neighborhood setting, there is nothing touristy about it. The service is impeccable without being stiff or aloof. This was probably our best meal during our three weeks in Europe. The food was prepared and served with a delicate finesse that elevated every dish without being pretentious. My meal started with a Caesar salad that was unlike any Caesar salad I have ever had. It included small sprigs of greenery that I did not recognize but thoroughly enjoyed, and dressed with something wonderful that I would not associate with a standard Caesar dressing. So let’s just say that what Gruber’s calls a Caesar salad is something special that you must try. The rest of the meal followed suit and made us realize we had stumbled upon something quite special.
