I recently visited the restaurant with a colleague and wanted to share my experience. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and, in my opinion, worth every cent—both the quality and the cleanliness were evident. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were generally attentive. However, there was an unsettling moment that left me uneasy. We were asked to pay before our food arrived, which was unusual for us since other guests seemed to pay after eating. When we later wanted to order something else, the cashier was nowhere to be found. The cook noticed our search, took our order and brought the food to our table. Shortly afterward, the cashier appeared and insisted we settle the bill immediately. The tone felt abrupt, and I couldn’t shake the impression that we were being treated differently because of our appearance. While the meal itself was enjoyable, the overall experience felt disrespectful and uncomfortable. I would encourage the restaurant to review its payment procedures and customer‑service approach to ensure every guest feels valued and respected. Despite the food, the incident detracted from what could have been a completely positive visit.

We ordered the roulade at the Gasthof Sonne. I was really looking forward to it, as braised dishes are rather rare to find there. Unfortunately, the roulade was very dry and tough, and even its appearance was questionable. What I also found odd was that the menu states that changing side dishes costs extra, the to-go box for leftovers costs extra, and at the salad bar, there's a note (in essence) saying not to take too much, otherwise it will cost extra. According to the menu, there's the option to order a smaller dish for two euros less. We wanted to take advantage of this for our 90-year-old mother, but it wasn't possible... All in all, they seem to want to give the impression of fine dining, but unfortunately, that's not the case. It was okay, but not good. Our comment that the roulades weren't good (which is always welcome) was ignored; instead, they just cleared the table with an "Oh." Two-thirds of the roulade went back. The service was generally okay, but it annoyed me when food was being served and the server touched and moved my glass. Unfortunately, we can't recommend it; we won't be going back to Sonne.
