Grand Cafe in Rostock

So etwas habe ich wirklich selten erlebt. Bis die Bedienung sich bemüht uns zu bedienen bzw. uns zu bemerken ist eine gefühlte Ewigkeit vergangen. Und das obwohl so gut wie nichts los war. Die Speisen waren dann wieder erwarten sehr gut. Aber das Grand Café ist nicht mehr „Grand“ sondern eigentlich sehr Renovierungsbedürftig.

Siamo a Rostock per una sera, e cercando un tavolo per mangiare all' aperto, ci siamo ritrovati in questo locale. Aveva pizze, pasta e insalate, basate tutte sui tipici ristoranti italiani; il cibo era buono e il prezzo un pochino elevato (per due spaghetti ai frutti di mare e un' insalata 60 euro). Nonostante ciò il servizio era molto buono, per questo lo consiglio per sentirsi come in Italia... Una nota particolare al cameriere italiano che era molto simpatico, bravo!

Paramos aquí para tomar un café y un helado durante nuestra exploración de Rostock. El café estaba bien, el sorbete era delicioso y, aunque el helado de avellana estaba delicioso, el helado de vainilla no era muy suave y tenía muchos trozos de hielo.

Probé sus calamares y estaba bueno, preparado a la perfección. A mi hija le gustó su ensalada. Las bruschettas que pidió mi marido estaban bien, pero un poco sosa. Los spritzers eran buenos y la ubicación es muy buena si te gusta ver la vida de la ciudad.

Buen pastel y helado, pero servicio horrible. Los sirvientes simplemente nos ignoraron, y en realidad deberíamos haber dejado el lugar sin comprar nada.

The location is very good at the university square on the Kröpeliner Strasse. The food is Italian, very good and farily priced. We had very good and friendly service and would be glad to come again.

Et hyggeligt sted, midt i det hele. Dejligt centralt og meget liv uden for. Den er vist italiensk, men de har et godt og bredt udvalg, til en rimelig pris. Serveringspersonalet var dog en smule forvirret, men søde og hjælpsomme. Et ok sted - ikke noget specielt - men heller ikke en turistfælde. God til en kort frokost når man er på shopping.

Det var regnvejr og vi skyndte os ind. Blev mødt af en veloplagt tjener der omgående tog bestilling på drikkevarer. Spiste kalvekød i gorgonzolasauce. 3 stykker stegt medium, meget velsmagende. Hyggeligt og super betjening.

Hallöchen, ich kann diese ganzen schlechten Bewertungen nur bedingt verstehen. Wir waren am 1. Weihnachtstag dort . Das Essen war super und die Bedienung war auch toll. Alles ging sehr schnell. Wir hatten um 13 Uhr einen Tisch reserviert und waren bereits um 14 Uhr mit allem durch. Ich denke das einige Gäste sich auch nicht so besonders nett verhalten. Da braucht man sich dann nicht wundern ,dass man mal ein Echo zurück bekommt. Dafür das die Einrichtung nach den ganzen Jahren nicht die beste ist und die Toiletten nicht so toll sind, kann das Personal nichts! Das liegt am Eigentümer. Wenn das Personal vernünftig bezahlt und wertgeschätzt werden würde, dann wären die Kellner auch freundlicher. Kellner sind keine persönlichen Dienstboten. Bist du freundlich und respektvoll Ihnen gegenüber, dann bekommst du es auch zurück :-)

Jag och min fru besöker Rostock ca två gånger per år och har gjort så sedan ca 10 år tillbaka. Och vid varje besök har vi alltid varit på Grand Café minst en gång vid varje besök. Och det är ingen tvekan; antalet gäster minskar för varje år. Konkurrensen ökar i centrum och matutbudet på Grand Café har både minskat och försämrats. Men efter besöket i fredags 15 november 2019 insåg vi att detta var det sista besöket här. Vi åt några smårätter, drack öl och vatten och avslutade med kaffe. När vi fick notan så väntade den manlige servitören medan jag skummade notan och räckte samtidigt fram 30€. Jag fick tillbaka pengar och innan jag sett hela notan hade servitören hunnit gå. Jag noterade då längst ner på notan en manuellt med bläck skriven post; "+10% tipp 2,60€ totalt 28,70€". Helt otroligt! Jag blev helt ställd av överraskningen. Jag har aldrig upplevt detta tidigare. Jag trodde att det var gästen som bestämde dricksen. Detta är bedrägeri! Lura turister! Aldrig mer Grand Café!

Wir wollten am Sonntag mit unseren Kindern zum Eisessen ins Grand Café - seit langer Zeit mal wieder, denn schon vor Jahren waren wir enttäuscht von der ausnehmend unfreundlichen Bedienung. Heute hat sich an der Situation scheinbar nichts geändert. Nachdem wir mindestens 20 Minuten konsequent von 3 Bedienungen ignoriert wurden, bat uns dann nach langer Wartezeit ein Kellner mehr oder weniger freundlich den Tisch zu wechseln, da der (einzige 4er Tisch der noch frei war draußen) hätte abgewischt werden müssen. Dann eben nicht - schöne Lage, Service 0 Punkte.

Ist das Essen im Grand Café mit netter freundlicher Bedienung zu annehmbaren Preisen. Wir waren ganz zufrieden, sicherlich keine große Küche aber eben .... ordentlich. Kann man also hingehen ...

Waren anfangs etwas überrascht, da wir fast die einzigen Gäste waren. Aber der Salat und die Pizza waren gut. Der Service war nicht übermäßig freundlich aber schnell. Preis etwas hoch für beide Gerichte

Pode se deliciar com o sorvete de cereja e com a taça de morangos com uma espécie de creme de leite. Se joga e esquece a dieta!

Nice enough place for a quick drink and bite. Good location and outdoor seating. Service was bright and cheery Food limited but tasty enough Beer was good. Reasonable too.

We had lunch in this nice old (or well restored) restaurant. The carpaccio was so-so, but the chicken liver was excellent. Stay with the German dishes would be my recommendation. 3.5 rounded to 4 in this case.

Really nice place with italian and german cuisine. Wonderful ice cream and tasty waffles. The staff is attentive, but it can be busy at times when the terrace is packed. Talk to Pino, the italian waiter.

We had much here while on a cruise stopover & everything took so long, servic , food, trying to pay even took ages. My husband's fries were cold so either they served cold food or it sat there for ages waiting to be delivered to our table & my calamari has enough oil I could have used it to change the oil in my car. Not recommend.

We spent a very nice two hours in the Grand Cafe, again sitting under one on the umbrellas outside in the sun. I preferred the Alex Bar, but the Grand Cafe was friendly and reasonable and a good place from which to people watch.

I went here for a pizza, very nice good service and presentation. The prices are reasonable and portions just the right size.

We called in here fore coffee. Perfect position to take in the view - probably the best part of the town to sit and rest. Service was very good - so too was the coffee. No complaints. Good bathrooms (otherwise difficult to locate in town) and on the way through the pastry selection looked fantastic. I would be happy to go back and have a meal.

After a nice day in Rostock we thought we found a nice restaurant but the disappointment of the bad service destroyed the first impression of the place. Even though it was relatively few guests in the restaurant it took long time to get the waiters attention and get something to drink. It took even longer time to get the waiters attention to order some food. The food itself was good, but the ignorance from the personnel have we never experienced anywhere else. So our recommendation is to go to the many other restaurants close by and enjoy the excellent service and food that can be found there.

I was surprised by the number of poor reviews for this place. Admittedly we only had coffee and ice-cream but they were fine, the service was good and the location on the main square is one of the best in Rostock.

Delicious Italian food. We ordered pizza and pasta and were happy about both. The waitress was very nice and still smiling late in the evening.

Been coming to Rostock for many years but this was the first visit to the Grand Cafe. Pleasant service, we just had a drink to warm up and will be back for a bite to eat one day I am sure

Incredibly late and full of mistakes service without a single apology. Two waiters were needed for attending late, several requests fixing the border. Poor English

Bad service. They didnt bring our full order in 30min being the restaurant almost empty. Quality of products are normal. Prices are average. They didnt treat us very good.

Ignorant staff who didn't listen to the order. When we tried to clarify, the waitress just stared and punched the correct order into the electronic ordering system. Terrible service.
