the food is so not hongkong style, not Chinese food at all. As one of ur specials, roasted duck is so dried with weird flavors, pecking duck too, the wraps are exactly like paper and the salad to wrap in with duck is not even chopped in right way, it’s like Vietnam style. I am so shocked sb Recommend it as a Hongkong Shayla restaurant, not at all, not even similar. Those are really terrible dishes will shock me for whole year

What an amazing restaurant. And the food is even more amazing. Even though there's soooo much variety, which makes it take a while to decide, every dish was absolutely delicious! Thank you for the wonderful Saturday, and please keep up the delicious food!

Best Chinese Restaurant in Berlin for me, a Real one

Delicious Hong Kong-style fried duck and cabbage. I had it with rice, chili oil, simple, but so tasty. The only downside was that the staff seemed a bit grumpy.

It's supposed to be an insider tip!? My impression: The food is OK, but unfortunately nothing more. A typical Chinese restaurant, in fact. (Mondamin and Co. send their regards.) The "spicy" label is unfortunate – because it's not spicy at all. It's very loud, so normal conversation is almost impossible. It feels a bit like a train station concourse. The staff, however, are very friendly and attentive.

Great restaurant! We were warmly welcomed by the waiter, who continued to deliver throughout the rest of our visit. He was funny, very friendly, and started taking our order by asking if there were any things we didn't eat. Very sensitive and attentive. He gave us great recommendations. Vegans won't find many dishes on the menu, but the two we had were amazing: the signature clay pot dish (lots of green vegetables and Asian mushrooms, plus some tofu in a spicy sauce) and the "salt and pepper fried tofu." The name of the second dish is truly an understatement: it's deep-fried, crispy tofu pieces with lots of aromatic garlic, chili, and rice! I highly recommend it!

Opposite to its name, definitely not “GOOD” friends. BIG NO! I left without eating. The restaurant was completely empty when I arrived, and I politely asked if I could sit near a power outlet to charge my phone while eating. The waiter showed me a suitable table, and I was about to sit down, but the man at the cashier, who seemed loud and unfriendly, suddenly started shouting “No, no, no” several times in a rude tone. He insisted I sit at the middle tables, none of which had access to an outlet. Very unwelcoming and unpleasant experience.

I've been to this restaurant twice, and both times the food was truly delicious—the quality of flavor remains consistent. I ordered steamed dim sum, which perfectly matched my taste. I was particularly impressed by the team's work style—truly remarkable. I will definitely be back.

You feel more like a nuisance than a guest. We didn't experience any of the highly praised service. Despite having a reservation and arriving on time, you wait an unusually long time at the entrance before being seated. Then, without a word, you're shown to your table and handed a stack of menus. Even after a quarter of an hour, no one had asked for your drink preferences. We eventually left without eating anything. Never again!

Tomorrow (August 29th) is hopefully the day: our first meal at Good Friends. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to reach you by phone yet, and reservations via email aren't possible. We've already heard so much praise about you that we'll stop by on a whim. ❤️ We'll update our review after we've enjoyed the delicacies. Traditional Chinese cuisine with excellent service and simply delicious. They offer excellent advice if you're undecided or want to try something new. We've been here a few times and it's always been great. I therefore recommend a visit to anyone who enjoys Chinese cuisine.

For me, Good Friends on Kantstraße is one of the best addresses in Berlin when it comes to authentic Chinese food – and I've been to many Chinese restaurants! There's no "Westernized" Asian cuisine here, but real, authentic Chinese dishes, just like you'd get in China itself. The menu is huge and offers something for every taste – whether you're looking for dim sum, spicy Sichuan dishes, Cantonese classics, or vegetarian options. I particularly recommend the crispy duck, the eggplant dish with garlic, and the homemade jiaozi (dumplings) – all absolutely delicious, freshly prepared, and full of flavor. The portions are generous, and the prices are more than fair. The staff is friendly, direct, and efficient – anyone familiar with Asian hospitality knows that it can sometimes seem a bit gruff, but is always warmly meant. That's exactly what makes the place so charming for me: Here, it's the taste that counts, not show or decoration. The atmosphere is lively, vibrant, and often crowded—but that's exactly what it's all about. Anyone who loves authentic Chinese food will be happy here. I'll definitely be back regularly—Good Friends is a Berlin classic that you just have to experience!

The food was super delicious. It’s mostly full so you have to make a reservation at least half a day before. Since it’s full it might also take a while to wait for the food but was not too long. I definitely recommend these two dishes, Peking duck with the rap pancakes, normal fried water spinach with rice. I went with my dad and this is quite enough for us. I’m quite a big eater so it can also be for one person meal.

Very expensive and not worth it at all. The restaurant was empty and it was 36degrees however they did not want to place us next to the window. We ended up paying a bill of 100euros with 1 adult and 2 children. Food was not tasty at all and we were charged for the boxes to take away our non tasty food

Had a solo dinner here and felt completely at ease. The staff made me feel welcome without hovering. I had the shrimp linguine with garlic and chili oil — the flavors were perfectly balanced and the shrimp were plump and fresh. Great portion size, good prices, and everything tasted like it was made with care. Will be recommending this spot to everyone I know.

We recently visited Good Friends, a Chinese restaurant on Kantstraße in Charlottenburg. As soon as you enter, you are struck by the lively, almost canteen-like atmosphere: simple tables, busy service and a constant coming and going of guests. The interior is spacious, but don't expect a stylish interior; you come here mainly for the taste of the dishes. The menu has more than 100 dishes, with a strong focus on Cantonese specialties: from fried Wan-Tan and Peking duck to dim sum and exotic fish dishes. We tried the Peking duck and the mixed grilled meat house style, both perfectly tender and aromatically seasoned. The soups - such as the sour-spicy Peking soup - were also tasty and filling. The portions are generous, so you definitely get value for money. Prices are in the mid-range (€€ - €€€), and although some visitors find the bill a bit high, the quality and quantity justify the cost. Please note that it can be busy, especially on weekends; reservations are recommended to avoid long waiting times. The service was attentive and multilingual, although it seemed a bit chaotic during peak hours. Nevertheless, the waiting times remained within limits and the service felt friendly and helpful. For lovers of authentic Chinese (and especially Cantonese) cuisine, Good Friends in Berlin is an absolute must.

I've been here before, but today I opted for a vegetarian dish, which unfortunately came completely unseasoned. By far the worst restaurant meal I've had in years, and it was expensive, too. An hour later, my stomach started to ache. Stay away! There are so many better options around here.

It's a street-side restaurant, but that doesn't hurt the overall experience. Admittedly, parking is hard to find, but public parking isn't far away. It's worth coming here; the food is very good, there's a wide selection, and the wait isn't long. The staff is courteous, attentive, and friendly.

Update 13.06.2025 : I ordered online Chicken in black bean sauce and beef with onions, both dishes had extremely low quanity , just like lunch menu . Charging 18-19 euros for such small quantity is day light robbery! Never again. The menu is huge and too many options to choose from. It does not mention if the dish has some sauce to eat with rice or just some fried meat. We ordered ribs with rice which came dry and had to order another chicken again , the waiters are poor in suggestion as the one serving us suggested this fried pork with rice for the main course. The dimsum was okayish. The prices look higher , the portions are generous as well.

Good Friends is a fantastic spot for authentic Chinese and Hong Kong-style dishes! I had the fried tofu and Singaporean fried noodles—both were full of flavor and really satisfying. The tofu was perfectly crispy, and the noodles had just the right amount of spice. There’s also a great variety of vegan options, which was a nice surprise. Service was quick, portions were huge, and everything tasted fresh. Definitely a great place if you’re craving real, flavorful Chinese food in a casual, no-fuss setting.

MEH…nothing special about this place. They have a nice outdoor sitting area, a huge menu, and their beers are decently priced. We ordered the Hong Kong Style Duck 🦆 , Fried Rice 🍚, And Wonton Appetizer. The wonton appetizer only came with four wontons, which were a little too deep-fried and lacking any real flavor. Luckily, we ordered a side of the sweet and sour sauce to add to the duck because the duck was good, but not great. Those orders +4 beers came out to around €65. So yeah, all in all it was MEH. But feel free to try the place as their menu is huge and I suspect something on there has to be amazing.

Updated in May 2025: Went back again and was anticipated a nice diner here. We made a reservation on the phone. When we arrived, the restaurant was fully booked. The staff saw us but chose to ignore us for 5 minutes. The food was still good but we felt like we were a burden to the staff. Good Cantonese cuisine restaurant. Very friendly and sometimes witty staff. Food was delicious and served very quickly. We visited this restaurant twice in 2 days because of the authentic food.

A solid location for a decent Chinese meal. I know many fans of this restaurant, though personally I find it just right. A large choice of all the classics of a European Chinese eatery, served promptly and of good value.

My Chinese partner and I went there on 08.08.2023. We got fried rice, water spinach and century eggs with jellyfish. we didn't like the fried rice we would've liked more seasoning as it tasted quite bland for our palette. We had complementary white rice which wasn't jasmine rice, which is what we're used to when we go out to eat at Chinese restaurants. The water spinach was fine. My partner liked the century eggs (as seen in the picture). I didn't like the jellyfish but I haven't had jellyfish before so it's not the reason for my review as it is probably good for people who like jellyfish. My rating is only affected by the dishes I usually like and eat regularly. My original review was removed by google after the restaurant used a service that removes negative reviews with claims of defamation. I saved the emails and also the payment from 2023 in case this gets removed again.

Authentic and honest. For me, the best Chinese food in the city, and it has been for decades. The place is always packed, but you usually manage to get a seat after a bit of a wait, and the food comes quickly, without being rushed. However, making a reservation is a safe bet. My favorites are the pork belly with shrimp or the beef fillet with black pepper, and Peking duck with iceberg lettuce. The latter is an absolute blast.

The last time I was here was 30 years ago, when Good Friends was the first real Chinese. Was there for lunch and was very satisfied. Top performance-price ratio. Top quality. Super friendly service. We'll be back!

Delicious food and a large menu. More on the expensive side. Had one starter and one main dish p/p plus shared a sparkling water and paid ~60€ in total.

The food was okay and arrived relatively quickly – but the taste was nothing special, more average. Unfortunately, the service significantly dampened the overall impression. The waiter seemed overwhelmed with communication skills and took our order without really listening. Only by asking again was a mistake avoided. Particularly unpleasant was a fake, seemingly inappropriate grin when I asked another waiter about a dish. Overall, the service seemed unprofessional and unattentive. For me, the visit was rather disappointing – there are definitely better alternatives.

Girl, guys, theys and thems... First a lil backstory, I used to work in a Chinese restaurant, have Chinese colleagues and eat with them all the time. The only complaint I have is that the food was too salty, from the tears I cried into it because it was so tasty. I went there with my boyfriend, and we both ROLLED out of the restaurant. We ordered: 1. Pork belly: It was melting in my mouth.... Even my boyfriend that isn't the biggest fan of the meat was enjoying it. 2. Green beans with beef: gurl, let me tell you... It was crunchy, savory and just tickled my brain in a special way. 3. Beef with veggies: The veggies were perfectly cooked, and the meat so tender. 10/10 4. A mix of Dim-Sums: it's like 2 of each, number 464 or something, very very tasty ❤️ The server was a big sweetheart, he checked up on us just enough times, without being overwhelming. I would suggest this restaurant to my closest friends and family, and definitely keep it away from my enemies, because girl... It was to die for. 100/10 Hoping to come back soon ❤️ P. S. yEach one of us ordered different food. Everything was delicious. The beef with broccoli is a simple dish but it was delicious. The flavor is balance, the beef is so tender and the broccoli wasn't overcooked. The yangzhou fried rice is good as well. We had chicken, duck and crispy pork and everything was so good. Some chinese restaurant is either hit or miss but this one is definitely a hit!

Unfortunately it's not like it used to be... The food has deteriorated a lot. There is very little seasoning and the price-performance ratio is no longer right. You feel like you're being processed. It used to be more familiar and friendly and the food was outstanding. But maybe the chef was having a bad day.

Good Chinese food, the way Germans like it😉But…. There is also really special Chinese food, which is not so well known here, with offal and so on... This probably explains the many Asians in the restaurant. The service is OK, since Good Friends is very well known, it is often full, sorry, busy and therefore loud and hectic. But because of the varied food, we're happy to accept it from time to time. For the reasons mentioned above, we often get food. We prefer fried noodles with chicken and chop suey with pork but without morels 😎😉Everything is extremely tasty.

Again and again: Peking duck and fried pork belly For many years, Good Friends has been one of the restaurants that we absolutely must visit when visiting Berlin. Good quality, tasty and authentically prepared. We had a friendly, quick and attentive waiter - absolutely no reason to complain. I would like to ask the restaurant's critics why Tim Raue, Christian Lohse and Ralf Zacherl have been visiting Good Friends regularly for many years? We have never tried better Peking duck in Germany before. The crispy pork belly with hoisin sauce and vegetables is my favorite. If you want to enjoy authentic Chinese-Cantonese cuisine, you can't miss Good Friends.

My bag was stolen from me in this restaurant a few weeks ago, complete with wallet + cash + passport and documents, etc. simply stolen! I was simply speechless, as an Asian myself, I had been there a few times with friends but this time I was caught off guard but how! I had never had anything like that anywhere. I had been there for lunch with my friends and there wasn't even much going on, or we were the only ones as a group of 9 people at the table in the back of the restaurant. My bag was behind me on a coat stand in the toilet in front of the disabled and at the same time the door of the staff room. After we had finished eating we went outside then about 15 minutes ago I noticed that I had forgotten my bag there But I knew exactly where it was. Afterwards I called them straight away and none of the service people had seen my bag there, that just can't be true! Simply stolen away by whoever the service people had no idea, they hadn't seen anything even though there were no guests at the back at the big tables except us. Unbelievable but true, I was simply speechless and deeply disappointed! Then reported the theft directly to the police station. Never again, the restaurant is simply super disappointing!!!

You'll probably already find out enough about the food here. We like it too, which is why we come here every now and then. Twenty years ago there were these metal heating plates on every table and so the food was still warm at the table. Unfortunately, that has changed and we now always eat lukewarm. It takes a little getting used to but it works. We always hope for a pleasant evening with good food. Unfortunately, this doesn't always work. Example: I have already paid (over 100 EUR) and notice that my wife still has a full glass of wine that she does not want to drink alone under my supervision. No problem, I think and order myself another drink, to be precise I want to order one. Unfortunately that's not possible, as card payments are only possible from 10 EUR. It's very understandable to me when it comes to paying the bill in general, but no exceptions are possible here, even if the turnover is over 100 EUR. We didn't have any cash, we were unlucky and the wine, which wasn't exactly cheap, remained undrunk and we left the shop a little upset. Therefore, a longer break is planned.

The selection is almost too big for my taste. It's not easy to decide. There were five of us there and we were able to try different dishes. That might make it a little easier next time. You should definitely make a reservation! It was really a hustle and bustle there. Still, I can't complain about the service. They had a lot to do and it still worked and everyone was friendly! The prices are also ok for the area. All dishes were fresh and delicious! At the neighboring tables I could also see some crazy dishes that looked very exciting. Probably won't be my last visit.

The service attitude is so bad! The weather was so hot and the sun was strong. We wanted to sit indoors by the window but were refused. We could only sit near the counter or outside. It's OK for Chinese food, the standard is okay but not high. The roast flavor was dry, the gravy was not enough, the dim sum crust was thick and too salty, and the stir-fry was too oily.

Downtown Chinese that has always played in its own league. Honest, authentic, robust - this Cantonese SUPERPOSTO makes Charlottenburg the envy of the rest of the city and all of Europe, and rightly so.

Been there twice now with friends. Service quite OK. But cheap quality meat. Squid is almost inedible because it is too dry and hard fried. Overpriced prices. So it's not authentic Chinese food overall as the quality just isn't right. Been to China and HK recently so I can compare.
