Updated in May 2025: Went back again and was anticipated a nice diner here. We made a reservation on the phone. When we arrived, the restaurant was fully booked. The staff saw us but chose to ignore us for 5 minutes. The food was still good but we felt like we were a burden to the staff. Good Cantonese cuisine restaurant. Very friendly and sometimes witty staff. Food was delicious and served very quickly. We visited this restaurant twice in 2 days because of the authentic food.

A solid location for a decent Chinese meal. I know many fans of this restaurant, though personally I find it just right. A large choice of all the classics of a European Chinese eatery, served promptly and of good value.

Very good food, our waiter Chris was great service but I especially liked how quickly and fresh the food was, it was simply amazing.

Authentic and honest. For me, the best Chinese food in the city, and it has been for decades. The place is always packed, but you usually manage to get a seat after a bit of a wait, and the food comes quickly, without being rushed. However, making a reservation is a safe bet. My favorites are the pork belly with shrimp or the beef fillet with black pepper, and Peking duck with iceberg lettuce. The latter is an absolute blast.

My Chinese partner and I went there on 08.08.2023. We got fried rice, water spinach and century eggs with jellyfish. we didn't like the fried rice we would've liked more seasoning as it tasted quite bland for our palette. We had complementary white rice which wasn't jasmine rice, which is what we're used to when we go out to eat at Chinese restaurants. The water spinach was fine. My partner liked the century eggs (as seen in the picture). I didn't like the jellyfish but I haven't had jellyfish before so it's not the reason for my review as it is probably good for people who like jellyfish. My rating is only affected by the dishes I usually like and eat regularly. My original review was removed by google after the restaurant used a service that removes negative reviews with claims of defamation. I saved the emails and also the payment from 2023 in case this gets removed again.

The last time I was here was 30 years ago, when Good Friends was the first real Chinese. Was there for lunch and was very satisfied. Top performance-price ratio. Top quality. Super friendly service. We'll be back!

Delicious food and a large menu. More on the expensive side. Had one starter and one main dish p/p plus shared a sparkling water and paid ~60€ in total.

The food was okay and arrived relatively quickly – but the taste was nothing special, more average. Unfortunately, the service significantly dampened the overall impression. The waiter seemed overwhelmed with communication skills and took our order without really listening. Only by asking again was a mistake avoided. Particularly unpleasant was a fake, seemingly inappropriate grin when I asked another waiter about a dish. Overall, the service seemed unprofessional and unattentive. For me, the visit was rather disappointing – there are definitely better alternatives.

Very unusual dishes and super nice service.

Girl, guys, theys and thems... First a lil backstory, I used to work in a Chinese restaurant, have Chinese colleagues and eat with them all the time. The only complaint I have is that the food was too salty, from the tears I cried into it because it was so tasty. I went there with my boyfriend, and we both ROLLED out of the restaurant. We ordered: 1. Pork belly: It was melting in my mouth.... Even my boyfriend that isn't the biggest fan of the meat was enjoying it. 2. Green beans with beef: gurl, let me tell you... It was crunchy, savory and just tickled my brain in a special way. 3. Beef with veggies: The veggies were perfectly cooked, and the meat so tender. 10/10 4. A mix of Dim-Sums: it's like 2 of each, number 464 or something, very very tasty ❤️ The server was a big sweetheart, he checked up on us just enough times, without being overwhelming. I would suggest this restaurant to my closest friends and family, and definitely keep it away from my enemies, because girl... It was to die for. 100/10 Hoping to come back soon ❤️ P. S. yEach one of us ordered different food. Everything was delicious. The beef with broccoli is a simple dish but it was delicious. The flavor is balance, the beef is so tender and the broccoli wasn't overcooked. The yangzhou fried rice is good as well. We had chicken, duck and crispy pork and everything was so good. Some chinese restaurant is either hit or miss but this one is definitely a hit!

Incredibly good and authentic Chinese food if you choose the dishes from the section of the menu marked "C".

Unfortunately it's not like it used to be... The food has deteriorated a lot. There is very little seasoning and the price-performance ratio is no longer right. You feel like you're being processed. It used to be more familiar and friendly and the food was outstanding. But maybe the chef was having a bad day.

I like to take advantage of the lunch specials here, which are reasonably priced. The restaurant is lively and authentic—perfect for the hustle and bustle of Kantstrasse. The cuisine, in my opinion, is quite close to traditional Chinese cuisine. Many Chinese people often dine there themselves.

Great restaurant! We received a really warm welcome from the waiter, who continued to deliver throughout the rest of our visit. He was funny, very friendly, and started taking our order by asking if there were any things we didn't eat. Very sensitive and attentive. He gave us great recommendations. Vegans won't find many dishes on the menu, but the two we had were amazing: the signature clay pot dish (lots of green vegetables and Asian mushrooms, plus some tofu in a spicy sauce) and the "salt and pepper fried tofu." The name of the second dish is truly an understatement: it's deep-fried, crispy tofu pieces with lots of aromatic garlic, chili, and rice! I highly recommend it!

Good Chinese food, the way Germans like it😉But…. There is also really special Chinese food, which is not so well known here, with offal and so on... This probably explains the many Asians in the restaurant. The service is OK, since Good Friends is very well known, it is often full, sorry, busy and therefore loud and hectic. But because of the varied food, we're happy to accept it from time to time. For the reasons mentioned above, we often get food. We prefer fried noodles with chicken and chop suey with pork but without morels 😎😉Everything is extremely tasty.

Again and again: Peking duck and fried pork belly For many years, Good Friends has been one of the restaurants that we absolutely must visit when visiting Berlin. Good quality, tasty and authentically prepared. We had a friendly, quick and attentive waiter - absolutely no reason to complain. I would like to ask the restaurant's critics why Tim Raue, Christian Lohse and Ralf Zacherl have been visiting Good Friends regularly for many years? We have never tried better Peking duck in Germany before. The crispy pork belly with hoisin sauce and vegetables is my favorite. If you want to enjoy authentic Chinese-Cantonese cuisine, you can't miss Good Friends.

Unfortunately the food is just average! Better go to Ming Dynasty! Waiter only came with the bill after the 4th call!

We enjoyed it! The staff was a bit unwelcoming at first, you have to stand around stupidly in the door for a long time without a reservation. Ambience more like a dining hall. Food arrived quickly, price performance was a bit high, but really tasty. Would love to come back

The last visit was a total disappointment! The plate clearer comes to the table with a trolley and a dish tray. The taste of my dish has also changed. Prices are no longer appropriate

My bag was stolen from me in this restaurant a few weeks ago, complete with wallet + cash + passport and documents, etc. simply stolen! I was simply speechless, as an Asian myself, I had been there a few times with friends but this time I was caught off guard but how! I had never had anything like that anywhere. I had been there for lunch with my friends and there wasn't even much going on, or we were the only ones as a group of 9 people at the table in the back of the restaurant. My bag was behind me on a coat stand in the toilet in front of the disabled and at the same time the door of the staff room. After we had finished eating we went outside then about 15 minutes ago I noticed that I had forgotten my bag there But I knew exactly where it was. Afterwards I called them straight away and none of the service people had seen my bag there, that just can't be true! Simply stolen away by whoever the service people had no idea, they hadn't seen anything even though there were no guests at the back at the big tables except us. Unbelievable but true, I was simply speechless and deeply disappointed! Then reported the theft directly to the police station. Never again, the restaurant is simply super disappointing!!!

You'll probably already find out enough about the food here. We like it too, which is why we come here every now and then. Twenty years ago there were these metal heating plates on every table and so the food was still warm at the table. Unfortunately, that has changed and we now always eat lukewarm. It takes a little getting used to but it works. We always hope for a pleasant evening with good food. Unfortunately, this doesn't always work. Example: I have already paid (over 100 EUR) and notice that my wife still has a full glass of wine that she does not want to drink alone under my supervision. No problem, I think and order myself another drink, to be precise I want to order one. Unfortunately that's not possible, as card payments are only possible from 10 EUR. It's very understandable to me when it comes to paying the bill in general, but no exceptions are possible here, even if the turnover is over 100 EUR. We didn't have any cash, we were unlucky and the wine, which wasn't exactly cheap, remained undrunk and we left the shop a little upset. Therefore, a longer break is planned.

The selection is almost too big for my taste. It's not easy to decide. There were five of us there and we were able to try different dishes. That might make it a little easier next time. You should definitely make a reservation! It was really a hustle and bustle there. Still, I can't complain about the service. They had a lot to do and it still worked and everyone was friendly! The prices are also ok for the area. All dishes were fresh and delicious! At the neighboring tables I could also see some crazy dishes that looked very exciting. Probably won't be my last visit.

The food and portions were incredible and the atmosphere is great! The staff are very attentive and were even able to make us a completely gluten free dish which we really appreciated!

The service attitude is so bad! The weather was so hot and the sun was strong. We wanted to sit indoors by the window but were refused. We could only sit near the counter or outside. Simple but very cosy interior. Food is spectacular, in particular the roasted duck and the stew goat. I lived 5 years in China and my wife is Cantonese. We highly recommend it.

Food was delicious but too expensive

It's OK for Chinese food, the standard is okay but not high. The roast flavor was dry, the gravy was not enough, the dim sum crust was thick and too salty, and the stir-fry was too oily.

Downtown Chinese that has always played in its own league. Honest, authentic, robust - this Cantonese SUPERPOSTO makes Charlottenburg the envy of the rest of the city and all of Europe, and rightly so.

Been there twice now with friends. Service quite OK. But cheap quality meat. Squid is almost inedible because it is too dry and hard fried. Overpriced prices. So it's not authentic Chinese food overall as the quality just isn't right. Been to China and HK recently so I can compare.

We had mapo tofu and 2x fried noodles with pork and beef and it was tasty, hot and the portions were large :) I wouldn't recommend dumplings, there are better places, but otherwise the vibe and interior reminds me of classic restaurants from Hong Kong 🇭🇰

Unfortunately we didn't like it at all. Bland and unseasoned. Then found another hair and let it go back. I then no longer had to pay the court. But unfortunately it's no longer worth another visit.

The restaurant itself is ok but unfortunately not anymore. The interior is a bit worn and the very bright lighting doesn't create a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, the grilled pork belly is no longer as good as it once was. The rind was not crispy but rather soft. Since the fat had barely melted during the cooking process, you can see that the cooking time was rather too short. It's a shame at this price. The vegetables used in the remaining main courses consisted of 90% peppers and the rest was onions/scallions. If you like eating peppers, this is the right place for you. The main course of chicken in black bean sauce was good but not amazing. The service was nice enough. Overall, you can go there once, but there are other restaurants that offer more authentic cuisine.

The taste of the thousand year egg was incredible. The beef and shrimps were cooked to perfection. The service and atmosphere had us smiling from the moment we entered. Definitely recommend this place to anyone that wishes an authentic Cantonese experience outside of China.

Always a fixture in my restaurant choices and has been consistently for years. The food is always delicious, the service is fun, and always in the mood to joke

The food tasted good and the portions were large enough. Unfortunately, we were surprised at the end when we got the bill. We had ordered rice once, but rice was listed three times on the bill. The background is: if you order rice, you pay for as many portions of rice as you ordered main courses (for us it was three main courses). The main dishes usually include rice. If you reorder this, you pay more depending on the number of main dishes.

Since the change of operator in the neighboring Aroma, Good Friends is now clearly the best Chinese restaurant on Kantstr. if not in all of Berlin. Real Cantonese cuisine of the best quality. The lunch menu is particularly good, where you can choose from 20 main dishes plus soup.

Great service, food is very old school. If you want to eat Chinese food like it was in the 80s, this is the place for you. Anyone who has a problem with glutamate probably doesn't.

I think I ordered the wrong food. The store was completely full. I ordered the duck with bones. Half the duck was full of bones. There was also no sauce and no vegetables, just a few lettuce leaves. It's a shame because I've only heard good things about the charger. But the service was great!

The place and service were very good, especially the waiter who was very patient with my three year old son. The food arrived quickly and the price was fair. The dishes were delicious, but it wasn't the best Chinese food I've ever eaten, hence the 4 stars.

It was not as good as before anymore (I came around once or twice a year). It’s more expensive to a level that’s overpriced. Jelly fish with century eggs as an appetizer with a normal portion costs 20 euros. Everything else is around this price too. The worst is the food tastes like they used a significant amount of MSG. I was super thirsty after my meal here. The fish dish I ordered was ok, and it’s normal for restaurant to charge around 20 (it was 23) for a fish dish.

Great and well-known Chinese. Something old school. The service is nice, professional but also very confident. It is quite loud and a bit stuffy in the evening. But a visit is certainly not a bad decision...if you are a meat eater. Vegan dishes are underrepresented in the very large selection

The pork belly was quite good, unfortunately the duck consisted of 70% bones and tasted relatively neutral. Overall just very average, although the prices were all very above average. So we were a little disappointed. We couldn't understand the hype. Service was good.

The restaurant is one of the best places in Berlin to eat authentic Chinese (Cantonese) food. It's most of the time very busy and the service is sometimes impatient but the food is very good. Go with a big group so it is easier to try more dishes! update 2024: food and service is still very good

Very friendly staff and the food is also very tasty. There is a lunch menu with menus between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. with a good price-performance ratio. We always like to come.

I found this place via the recommendation of BerlinFoodStories and had high hopes. Unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy the food or the service. The waiter who took our order, was rolling his eyes when I was asking him for the recommendations. The manu is really large, so just wanted his suggestions based on what I told him we liked. Overall, the food was at least eatable and I liked that veggies weren’t overcooked. The food just lacked flavor and it was served on plastic plates. It all looked cheap and old. I wouldn’t come back there.

Even after decades, it is an absolute top address for original Chinese cuisine. You should definitely try the Cantonese specialties here!

Normal Chinese restaurant that you can find in Berlin. I personally prefer here than other Chinese restaurants in other areas, though. 3/5 star.

It's a real shame if you've never been here...

I don't like complaining and I usually overlook minor flaws in restaurants. But in this case, unfortunately, I cannot remain silent. A few days ago my friends and I chose the Good Friends restaurant and I arrived earlier than everyone else. The weather was a bit windy, but there was no rain. According to the weather forecast, there was no rain in sight. There were many tables outside, some were occupied and people were already eating there. A waiter approached me with a serious and sad face. I asked for a table outside. He said that I could only sit inside as it would rain soon. I told him there would be no rain because the forecast said no rain. Besides, if you look at the sky, these are not the clouds that could bring rain. They are quite mobile. Then another girl came who seemed pretty strict. Her face was probably marked by all the tragedy in the world. She came up to me and stood sideways to me so that I was facing her but she was facing me with her right side mirror. She looked at me. I said I wanted to sit outside. We are four people, all smokers. We want to sit outside in the fresh air. She said that we can only sit inside because it will rain soon. I told her there won't be any rain, showed her the weather on my phone and said there won't be any rain at all any time soon, just some wind. Especially since people are already sitting outside and eating. We wanted to sit outside. She pointedly turned around and simply walked away without saying anything. I then stood outside for another 15 minutes and waited for us to be seated. Eventually I understood that this demonstrative walk away was a kind of loss of face for the customer. When my friends arrived, we decided not to visit this restaurant and went to the neighboring restaurant Pho, a Vietnamese restaurant that I had already been to once. It was a great place where we had an excellent time sitting outside. It didn't rain, the weather was nice. The staff smiled and we ended up having a wonderful day. I would recommend Good Friends Restaurant to hold a meeting and conduct customer service training. At least they should learn to deal with customers appropriately.

It may be that the food tastes good here because the place was particularly recommended to me. But the combination of extremely unfriendly service (even by Berlin standards) and high prices didn't seem very inviting. And since no one came to take our order, we just left without eating

A top address for Chinese food in Berlin for many years. Authentic and delicious.

Buena comida china para muchas personas como muy pocas especias o sabor. A mucha gente de Alemania le gusta esta comida. Pedí el pollo Kung Pow, soso, con muy poco sabor. Bonito lugar, buena gente, pero no cerca de auténtica comida china. Mis amigos también comentaron que no tenía sabor. Hacen buenos negocios.

It is the best Chinese in Berlin, only here you can get a delicious jellyfish, the stuffed halibut with black bean sauce is unbeatable, a must as a side dish is "fried tofu with pepper and salt", the dim sum is weak, but the vegetables of the day are always delicious. THIS IS HOW CHINA COOKS, this is a Northern Chinese cuisine.
