On Easter Monday we spontaneously went to “Goldfish” in the evening. It was open, we were happy. There was no longer a queue, but we were initially ignored. When we asked, we were able to place our order. It should be 2 fried herring rolls. Even though there was nothing going on, we waited 10 minutes for the rolls, the fried herring tasted of NOTHING, it was very disappointing! We won't be back that quickly. It's a shame, that was different...

I have traveled far, visited countless coastal towns and eaten my way through a number of fish stalls - but what I was able to experience here, right on the Baltic Sea, really surpasses everything. These fish rolls weren't just good - they were a heavenly masterpiece of northern German cuisine. I can say with complete conviction: You really can't get something like this anywhere else. The fish? It couldn't be fresher. Juicy, tender, with a fine note of sea salt - as if he had been swimming through the water five minutes earlier. The Bismarck herring: perfectly marinated, with a balanced ratio of acidity and sweetness. The herring? Melts in your mouth like butter. And the fried fish? Crispy like something out of a picture book, baked golden brown and incredibly juicy on the inside. Every bite was a poem. The roll wasn't a carelessly sliced ​​roll - no, it was crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and had just the right consistency to hug the star of the show - the fish - without overwhelming it. And the tartar sauce? Creamy, aromatic, with a secret blend of herbs that's probably better kept than Coca-Cola's recipe. These fish sandwiches are not a snack. They are an experience. A declaration of love for the sea, for freshness, for honest craftsmanship. I can only advise everyone: If you think you've already eaten good fish sandwiches - go to the Baltic Sea. But only where they are made. Everything else is just a pale copy.

Fried fish good. The gentleman at the checkout/taking orders was very unfriendly. We had to pay €1.50 more for fried fish without a roll than stated on the price list because we hadn't brought "a Tupperware container" with us, as HE said. DANGER !!! The price shown only applies if you bring your own packaging material/plates/tupperware. VERY strange...

For years, the GOLDFISCH has been one of our favorite snacks every time we visit Schilksee or Strande. Even if the queue is sometimes a little longer, we only move on with a fish sandwich in our hands. The entire staff is super nice and so far every snack has been a treat.

(Guys, you don't need that, it doesn't fit in with your other highlights at all) - Price-performance unbeatable - Operators are more than motivated, nice and committed, the operators are real Nordic “originals” with their hearts on their tongue 😜 But we'll come back for the fish rolls 😋

We were there for the first time today. The fish sandwiches were freshly made - of course it took a while. It's crazy what a long queue there was in front of the fish shop! That speaks for itself. We'll be back!

This is our first time here in Kiel Schilksee. We would highly recommend this little restaurant right on the harbor/promenade, it is said to have the world's best fish sandwiches on the Baltic Sea and that's how it is. We were here for 1 week and during this time we tested our way through the entire menu. my favorite is the Schilksee Spezial, but the classics are also incredibly tasty. we'd love to come back. 5 stars are not enough for that We're back!!! And we look forward to your fish sandwiches. They are simply some of the best in the Kiel area!

Wir waren letztes Jahr schon da und haben uns durch die Speisekarte getestet.... und haben festgestellt das es der beste Fisch hier im Umkreis von Kiel ist. Ob klassisch ein Backfisch oder Bismarck, mit den selbstgemachten Soßen einfach Lecker. Auch das Schilksee Spezial ist einfach super Lecker. Der Besuch lohnt sich sehr, wir sind 10 Tage hier, leider können wir nicht jeden Tag hier essen, da an 2 Tagen das Lokal geschlossen hat, aber sonst sind wir jeden Tag zum Mittagessen oder Abendessen hier im Goldfisch. wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder, bis bald und liebe Grüße aus Sachsen (Borna bei Leipzig).

There is also a note at the entrance: “We are “old school” and do not accept cash.” Then you know straight away.

Wir sind um die Förde herum gefahren um die Fischbrötchen im Goldfisch zu probieren. Soll ja die Nr 1 in Sh sein. Unser Urteil man muss nicht soweit fahren, um ein gutes Fischbrötchen zu essen. Laboe kann da auf jeden Fall mithalten.

The best fish sandwiches north of the equator! My favorite is the Schilksee Spezial. That's why I come from Hamburg sometimes. And of course there is also the open view over the Kiel Fjord, which rounds off both the queuing and the culinary pleasure. Wonderful, always happy!

We have been loyal summer holiday customers for years and were dismayed at how much the quality had deteriorated. There were FIVE people behind the counter - the wait really makes you wonder what exactly was being done. The fried fish and the orange salmon were cold and the amount of sauce was much less than usual. And the staff was super unfriendly (except for the friendly guy at the checkout). We'll probably switch to Laboe soon... there we got much better food in a short time for a little more money.

There's no arguing about TASTE as well as about SERVICE ORIENTATION. That's what recessions are for, but for some it's too high :-) PS: as in every recession, it's due to "chemistry" 😂 The food is OK at best, but the staff is absolutely unfriendly. But as you can see here, they like to live with it, there are enough stupid holidaymakers :-)

Was in Schilksee 2 days ago to eat a fried fish roll. First of all: The kiosk is beautifully located on the harbor and beach and everything is clean and the staff is friendly. For the fried fish roll: I absolutely cannot understand the hype in the press and reviews here. The bun itself was very average. Sauce almost non-existent. Lettuce leaf rather rudimentary. The fried fish itself had cheap breading, no batter. Taste rather doughy and as if it had been produced in advance and left to sit. Price 5.50 euros. I then tried a fish cake on the hand (2.50 euros). She was over salted. No fishy taste. There may have been outliers, but that was nothing. In my opinion, you can find better fried fish rolls for Kiel here: 1. Thiessen Kai in Kiel. More expensive (8 euros), but quality is excellent. 2. Fish Kitchen Laboe. Great dough, fresh, very clean taste. Also more expensive. 3. Fish stall at Strander Hafen. Rolls better, sauce and salad in a good proportion. Fried fish of similar quality, but larger. 6 euros. 4. And if you feel like it, you can buy a piece of good quality baked fish at the Kiel weekly market on the parade ground at "Matjes Lange" (2.50 euros). Very good as a base for a homemade fried fish roll. Bon appetit everyone.

Super delicious fish sandwiches in Kiel-Schilksee. If you are around here you have to make a stop there. Always fresh products, fair prices and very friendly and personable staff. :)

The food was delicious, but I was approached very unfriendly by one of the employees because I was distracted and didn't immediately understand her question. I then received an extremely unfriendly “there’s almost nothing going on behind you, what do you want now?” A pity.

Basically, the food and the fish sandwiches are good and thanks to the beautiful location at the harbor, the Goldfisch is always a happy place to go! BUT: You often have to wait around 15-30 minutes before ordering and another 10-15 minutes before the food is served. This is also why it is completely incomprehensible that (faster) card payments are still not possible! I would be happy to pay the currently approx. 1.5% additional costs for a card payment for a shorter waiting time. I suspect this is the case for many others, especially tourists from countries where card payments are much more common. I would like to see a rethink here in the future and would then be an even more satisfied customer.

2 weeks in Kiel and ate there almost every day (exceptions only because the kiosk was closed.) Tried something different every time, not a single disappointment. Since we are landlubbers from Hungary, many fish dishes were still unknown. We were given very warm advice (with samples even), so it really hurts us that we're already gone. Goldfisch in Schilksee is the answer to the famous Ben's Fischhütte in Flensburg. Even if the building isn't that quaint, the fish sandwiches are awesome. In addition, the crew moves much more quickly here, so the waiting time is reduced. Prices are fair, even for a roll with fresh North Sea crabs. In this respect, clear recommendation. When you tip, the ship's bell is rung. So let's go 😃

A very solid little fish joint. The smoked eel on the bun was really tasty, especially with the honey mustard sauce. Service was very friendly and authentically Nordic. Really a good location. You can then enjoy the beach with your sandwich (but watch out for seagulls!)

Wir empfanden es schon als kleinen Betrug, da wir lt. Angebot, 2 mal Backfisch für 3,50€ bestellten. Dazu je eine Portion Kartoffelsalat für 3,00€. Dann waren es plötzlich 14,00€ pro Person und hieß Goldfischmenü. Wenn wir es günstiger haben wollten, dann sollten wir unsere Tupperschale mitbringen, so die Aussage der Bedienung! Mehr muß ich dazu nicht sagen. Für mich gibt es dafür nur einen Stern und keinen weiteren Besuch!

Delicious fish sandwiches at fair prices. Unfortunately, no card payment because you obviously can't (or don't want to) research how low the transaction fees are compared to cash. People refuse here for completely irrelevant reasons. Or are there “other” reasons behind this? Many customers don't have any cash with them when they go for a walk or bike ride. A pity. I know some people who unfortunately no longer buy here. The notice on the door saying "It's always been this way" only makes it worse.
