Goldener Stern in Friedberg

We returned to the Goldener Stern after a long time and, just like in the past, were absolutely thrilled! Excellent food at a truly reasonable price for this level, and very friendly service! We immediately made a reservation for our next visit and are already looking forward to it!

This was our second time dining in the restaurant's wine cellar. Twelve people were superbly served, with the head waiter first introducing himself personally. His name is Thomas, and he looked after us superbly throughout the entire evening. Thomas is a very confident, professional, and friendly young man, just the kind of head waiter you'd want. The meal was served in the form of several delicious starters, main courses, and desserts, with several members of staff arriving at the same time with the food. Thomas described the food so everyone could share their own impressions. Overall, an outstanding meal, outstanding service, and a truly successful evening. That's what gastronomy should be like. Excellent cuisine! Everything tasted delicious! We were delighted by the small gift for my wife's birthday.

The two of us went to the Goldener Stern in Rohrbach this evening and had an excellent experience all around. The Bavarian cuisine was truly outstanding—some of the best I've ever tasted. The service was friendly. The drinks (especially the wine selection) were also very good. One small suggestion for improvement: The red wine is served at room temperature—but ideally, it would be served a bit cooler to better showcase its aromas. Experts recommend around 12–14°C for lighter red wines, and 15–17°C for medium-bodied varieties. Serving the wine slightly chilled would round out the experience even more. The bottom line: A wonderful evening with great food and a warm atmosphere—we'd love to come back!

Excellent food, a very cozy atmosphere in the adjoining room, but overall a bit cramped. But that hardly detracts from the experience. The food, cocktails, and house-brewed beer are outstanding and unmatched outside of major cities.

Truly exceptionally good food at absolutely reasonable prices—you wouldn't expect it in such a small place. Great ambiance, great service. Unfortunately, you have to reserve a table for the evening months in advance, but that speaks for itself. The dishes from the Neo-Gasthaus menu, in particular, are very appealing and creative, combining a variety of ingredients. We'll definitely be back!

A true culinary highlight in the Friedberg area! I was completely impressed by the Goldener Stern. The food is absolutely top-notch – extremely high quality, creative, and perfectly balanced. Every component on the plate makes sense and complements each other wonderfully. You can feel that the cooking here is done with passion and that great attention is paid to quality and detail. The service was attentive, friendly, and very professional – exactly what you would expect. The ambiance is also perfect: modern, stylish, yet cozy. You immediately feel at home. An all-round harmonious experience – we'll definitely be back!

We were in the beer garden and enjoyed a truly outstanding, unusual meal. If we could give it a minimal deduction, we would have appreciated more service staff in the beer garden.

We go to the Goldener Stern restaurant several times every year. Everything is just right here. The staff is very well organized, quick and super friendly. The food tastes of the finest and the language on the plate is great. It's just a shame that you have to reserve so far in advance, but Stefan Fuss and his great team have worked that out! Thank you for the lovely evenings we were able to spend with you! There will be more to come.

Excellent German cuisine! Unfortunately, the wine selection doesn't match the cuisine at all. Subpar quality at high prices is the exact opposite of good food. We were there again, and I have to say the ambiance is really poor for a restaurant of this class. And then a shared table… just not acceptable. And the untrained service staff create chaos… It's a shame, but if anything, the restaurant is suitable for takeaway.

On April 9, 2025, and May 1, 2025, we indulged ourselves in culinary delights again. Everything was perfect this time, too. The bread selection with various delicious spreads was the perfect start. The salad bowl, the char, and the biceps, and of course, the service, were all fantastic. To finish, the temptation of homemade eggnog was a delight. We're already looking forward to the next time. Thank you very much! The Schwegmanns... On October 3, it was another culinary feast at the Golden Star. A magnificent meal and perfect service delighted us as always. What particularly struck me was the restaurant's clear commitment to animal welfare. You can taste this priority in every bite. The schnitzel was simply excellent – ​​tender, crispy, and full of flavor. The dessert was also an absolute explosion of flavor, and the drinks paired perfectly. The service was first-class. The staff were always friendly and regularly asked if everything was to our satisfaction. This makes you feel truly valued and cared for as a guest. The best restaurant in the Wittelsbacher Land.

More show than substance. Visited on a Wednesday, were seated at a large table with other strangers, with a booking for two people, and no one asked if the seat was okay. The service from the young gentleman was very poor. Regular customers were given priority. We were seated and left alone. The beer was empty, no one asked for more, neighbors had two empty beer bottles sitting around for 30 minutes. The food arrived, and no one asked if it was tasty. Very poor service. The good reviews are incomprehensible and it's not worth traveling for.

As always, a perfect evening with excellent service and delicious food. We'd be happy to go again.

It was very worth it despite waiting 6 months. It is a Bavarian tavern with the classics, but also with European and Japanese influences, without losing the origin of regional products and their place in a Bavarian tavern kitchen: just like the slogan of the Golden Star: “Heimatkost”. Mr. Fuẞ and his team do a top job. Feel-good atmosphere, service and food. The price/performance ratio is overwhelming, large portions. The 8 course menu for €99. And there was another surprise course. We would have paid significantly more for it. The menu offers an excellent cross-section of the skills of Mr. Fuß and his kitchen team. It is very pleasing that the open wine is of top quality at a low price and with very competent advice. There is a vending machine in the parking lot where you can take selected dishes and drinks home. A recommendation.

A lovely restaurant with excellent cuisine. The food definitely gets 5 out of 5 stars. I had a white wine spritzer, but it was 80% water. The restroom was a bit dirty and didn't really fit with the rather upscale ambiance of the establishment. All in all, a very lovely restaurant with great food. If you ignore a few minor issues, it's worth a visit.

Definitely, excellent service and food

The dishes are something very special in terms of taste and appearance. Therefore recommended! Service was a bit hectic, but that was due to the packed restaurant on (Wednesday) evening. Especially since we were seated at a table with other guests despite a 4-month advance reservation and a group of 15 people next to us (2 meters) created an uncomfortable and noisy atmosphere. If you invest €180 as a couple, it's not enough for 5 stars.

We were there on December 4th. visiting for the first time. We were super curious because so many friends raved about the inn. We received a very warm welcome, despite the fact that it was very busy around 7 p.m. The stress of the staff was clearly noticeable where we were sitting, but when they were with us they also took the time and were there for us. The drinks came quickly. For a snack beforehand we had bread and various spreads, that alone was divine. I could have eaten a whole loaf of that bread. For the main course we had beef goulash, beef strips and herb schnitzel. It was all extremely delicious. Unfortunately we didn't manage to have dessert because we were very full. Absolutely an experience, really recommended.

If I could, I would give it 4.5 stars. We made reservations months in advance and were really looking forward to our visit. The service is very good. Our server(s) were all very friendly. The ambience is nice and the food is really good.

After six months of looking forward to our table, the visit was overall recommended. The menu is small, but selected and well thought out. However, we had to wait a relatively long time for our food, while guests who arrived after us received their food earlier. Despite this delay I would definitely go back as the food was really excellent and totally worth the visit.

We had a 7 course menu on 10/04/24. The long wait of 9 months was definitely worth it. When I saw the menu I was a little skeptical because there were some things I didn't really want, like horseradish. Every single dish was a treat for the palate, with a perfect interplay of sweet, bitter and salty aromas. Dessert was the perfect ending to the whole meal.
