Very good food, Greek and German! Friendly service, and a lovely beer garden in the summer.

I thought long and hard about even writing a review. But an experience like this deserves to be shared. The first server was very friendly and took our order quickly. But that was it. Even though there were only two other tables occupied, we waited 45 minutes for a side salad and an hour for the food. The side salad came first. It was quite good. Then the appetizer and main course came together. The table was almost too small for it. Garlic pita bread was delicious. Quite the opposite of the main course: liver with mashed potatoes and fried onions. When ordering, they asked if it was medium or well done. I thought it was great that they asked. However, when the liver arrived, they could have saved themselves the question. The liver was so thin that any contact with the grill would have cooked it to death. The mashed potatoes were a joke! A single mashed potato with no flavor. There was no salt, butter, or milk in the "mashed potatoes." The fried onions weren't what was advertised either. They were briefly tossed in the pan. Additionally, the chef apparently has something against seasoning. There was no salt in any of our dishes. Even the table next to us reported that the fries were saltless. Okay, too salty isn't good either, but none at all?! The crowning moment came when the second waiter came over while clearing the table and asked if everything was okay. I said that the potato cake tasted of NOTHING. He smiled and left. We were all very confused. If you don't understand German, you shouldn't ask questions like that. Taste 1.5* (because of salad and bread) Only the first waiter deserves 4* Shortly after the visit, everything disappeared from my body. The restroom is also a disaster. The floor, walls, AND toilet seat are completely sticky. And when you also notice that the chef doesn't even wash his hands after using the restroom, it's no surprise I had massive diarrhea. This was the first and last time I'll ever see this restaurant. I'm extremely disappointed.

Some side dishes were forgotten, liver was not used sufficiently

After the Playmobil Park, the food here was wonderful, even great with children.

Apart from the ouzo, there was nothing worth visiting. The service was awful. We waited over 20 minutes for our drinks. We got our food after about 45 minutes, even though we were the first guests in the garden. The portion sizes were OK, but unfortunately, the food was bland. Unfortunately, my wife and I experienced digestive problems. Was everything fresh? We definitely won't be coming back. B.E

Four of us were at the Goldener Löwen Zirndorf. The food was very good and the price was reasonable. On the downside, we waited almost an hour for our food, even though there weren't many people there. Some people got their food even though they arrived after us. We only got our food after almost an hour, after asking if we had been forgotten. That's not okay.

Excellent Greek cuisine, especially the fish dishes are highly recommended. The calamari is tender as butter, and the octopus arm as an appetizer is simply divine. Everything is perfectly seasoned, and the staff is friendly.

I would give 3,5* Meals have middle quality. Portions are ok but can be better. Service is ok.

A Greek restaurant has been located in the Golden Lion in Zirndorf for some time now. I tried it today and was very satisfied: The food was authentically Greek, and the ingredients were all fresh. The salad is freshly cut and made from fresh ingredients. The French fries are hand-cut (prepared fresh every day, according to the waitress) and very tasty. The tzatziki is very garlicky, which I really like and is delicious. The gyro was standard. The bifteki/suzuki I had was authentically Greek with a hint of herbs, but not too overpowering. Just right for my German palate. I often found the food in Greece too salty, and the bifteki too herby. My friend had the souvlaki and also found the meat delicious and still nice and juicy. The prices are within the normal range for a Greek restaurant—unfortunately, things have gotten more expensive everywhere. The service is attentive and quick, but not intrusive. We were outside in the beer garden in this weather, which is conveniently furnished (wooden chairs and rather small tables). My two large bifteki on my plate were truly filling. The plate with the single souvlaki that my friend had might not have been enough to fill me up. The price for both plates was €16.50 in August 2025. The location in the center of Zirndorf is, of course, ideal for Zirndorf residents, even though there aren't many parking spaces here. Thanks to our local knowledge, we found one within a 2-3 minute walk. My conclusion: My new favorite Greek restaurant.

I highly recommend the village platter; the veal leather is really good. The Franconian sausages and the octopus appetizer were also very tasty. There's also something for kids; my daughter chose fish fingers with homemade fries.

A very good experience. Clean and well-maintained place, friendly and helpful staff. The moussaka was excellent – homemade flavor and perfectly prepared. Highly recommended.

The best souvlaki I've ever eaten! Freshly grilled meat, perfectly seasoned, and super tender. The side dishes were also delicious, especially the tzatziki, which was wonderfully creamy and aromatic. The service was friendly and quick. A true piece of Greece right in the heart of Golden Lion! I'll definitely be back!

I ordered bifteki and it was really tasty especially with the cheese inside. The price is really good and it fits perfectly the portion.

I'd say this is the best Greek restaurant in the area. Delicious food, excellent service. The competition should take a look at this place.

The food was truly, without exception, very good and well-priced. What massively spoiled our visit was the quality of the service. The drinks took a long time to arrive, and for a starter that was supposed to come with bread, the bread only arrived after about 15 minutes, despite three requests. Missing cutlery only arrived after the second request. Neighboring tables got a round of ouzo on the house, but we didn't. Although, despite the aforementioned problems, we weren't whiny or unfriendly. Little things, sure. But still, a lot of little things. And the fact that card payments aren't accepted in 2025 unfortunately fits the picture. A shame.

Sitting outside under a linden or chestnut tree – very nice. The food was delicious and the restaurant was well attended.

Today was our first visit to the Golden Lion beer garden here in Zirndorf. The staff were very courteous, friendly, and attentive from the start. Our dog was brought a bowl of water without being asked on this hot, sunny day. As you can see in the pictures, we had, among other things, a salad with fried fish and one with grilled octopus. Both were excellent and crispy and fresh. We also had pita with garlic and homemade tzatziki, both also very, very good. The adults were served the traditional schnapps before dinner, a shot of juice for the children, and a lollipop for the little ones after dinner. The prices were absolutely reasonable. ~€125 / 4 adults, 2 children. We were very satisfied and would gladly come back.

Hmmmmhh. What can you say? It's OK at the Golden Lion. The food is nothing special, you could expect a little more for the price. The portions are appropriate. The service or the one waitress we had (I don't want to speak of everyone) wasn't unfriendly, but it seemed that children weren't exactly welcome... The restaurant is beautifully decorated in an old style with lots of wood.

I recently ate at the Golden Lion and was unfortunately a bit disappointed. The service wasn't particularly attentive - you had to try several times to get the staff's attention. The taste of my food was okay, but the price was simply not justified at around €18 - especially when you consider that the same dish is offered in the lunch menu for €5 less. We were also very disappointed that there was no ouzo at our table as a greeting or farewell, which took a little away from the warmth of the visit. Overall the visit was okay.

There were two of us there and we ordered the fish platter for two people – and what can I say: simply fantastic! The portion was absolutely sufficient and every single component was cooked to perfection, wonderfully seasoned and incredibly tasty. You can taste that the work here is done with a lot of love and quality. The service was also friendly and attentive. Definitely a recommendation for fish lovers – we’ll definitely be back!

Just had a loveless and disgusting tasting gyros pita. NOT recommended. There are better Greeks... Even the head waiter was more than humorless.

First the good: Nice, attentive service! Greek yogurt and the coleslaw were also very good! Unfortunately, the other Greek dishes were not as hoped. The rice is vinegary, but the mixed salad apparently has no vinegar at all. Everything came to the table only lukewarm and not really seasoned in the “Greek” way we usually know it. Unpeeled scampi in sauce is also not ideal. Still water tasted like tap water, not like the good Zagori. That was our first and last visit here. Too bad!

The food tastes very good, but the portions are not good value for money

We've been there twice so far, once downstairs in the main guest room (which is very nice). What didn't work at all was our visit on Christmas Day. It was full downstairs, it was said that the hall was upstairs, but since I don't know the hall, I agreed. But what we found was really cheeky!! An ice-cold hall in which 80% of the people had their jackets on. It was really cold! Two mini electric heaters were set up but they didn't work. There were no tablecloths and no decorations at the tables! There were pine branches without any decorations or bows in the middle of the tables Loveless and far too big. Such a heartless cold atmosphere for the first Friday is more than sad. Unfortunately, the portions were very small and the Suflaki skewer was pink on the inside and not cooked through. There was also no bread on the starter plate! Everything was better on our first visit a year ago.

Went for dinner for the second time and weren't disappointed. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. The food was great. Have had Greek so far and were very satisfied. Portions are large. Next time I'll try something Franconian. We'd love to come back.

Octopus from the grill very very lean in number and served very very poorly, the food looks like it was cooked by a primary school student for this price, no dip, salad just thrown in for 16.90! I cannot recommend the restaurant

If there is a particularly good Greek.....then the Golden Lion!!! And that without ifs and buts. The food, staff and restaurant are simply great. If one or two gourmets don't like it here, they can go somewhere else, but trying to send the staff to a service course is going too far. You won't find such good and courteous service anywhere else!!! I'm already looking forward to the next time!!!! Oh yes, and food can do anything...there's nothing bad about it!!

Today I went to the “Goldener Löwe” restaurant for the first time based on a recommendation and had a fantastic meal - the “fish trilogy”: sea bream fillet, pike-perch fillet and salmon fillet with taramas and mixed salad, with baked potatoes and vegetables (according to the menu it is spinach served instead of vegetables, but my request for a change was easily possible). What I miss in many Greek restaurants in Germany is fortunately available here: fish dishes where the fish is not breaded/fried! My dish tasted excellent, had a great and pleasant seasoning and the portion was generous, I was really impressed. The service was very friendly!

Delicious food, whether Greek or Franconian Schäufele - both delicious

We've been regulars for years and always enjoyed the food, but our last visit was a complete disappointment. The starter salad was just disgusting – sour. The main courses came in tiny portions that had shrunk drastically compared to before, but at exorbitant prices. The rice was soggy and disgusting, and the so-called bifteki was a "bifteki rolled on a skewer" and looked more like bratwurst on a skewer. When we asked what happened in the kitchen we were told there was a new chef. A serious mistake! The old cook was much better. We definitely won't come back for such quality!

The “Golden Lion” is located right in the heart of Zirndorf, right on the market square. The restaurant serves mainly delicious Greek food. Everything, absolutely everything, is extremely tasty. This restaurant will see me again soon!!

The taste is simply top! The staff is extremely friendly and also very familiar. We felt very comfortable. Dogs are even welcome if you let us know in advance.

We had 2 Wiener-style schnitzels with fries. The schnitzels were not seasoned. There was also no salt on the fries. Otherwise everything was good. It's just a shame about the schnitzel meat.

I just ordered takeout for an octopus salad with some extra pepperoni and a coleslaw. The octopus salad was good, but came without the extra pepperoni and the coleslaw unfortunately had an aftertaste of dumped milk. Probably sucked up the fridge smell. No ouzo was offered. Nothing drives me in again.

In the middle of the coldest winter, just before we left, I really wanted to eat a real Schäufele. Unfortunately, this is easier to go hungry in the run-up to Christmas than done. Because according to Schäufele tradition, gourmets have to wait until Sunday. Luckily we did some research and found the “Golden Lion”. I was really excited about my Thursday scoop. Ambiance: Family. Warm, rustic, almost like grandma's living room feeling. Facilities: Perfect. Not too crowded. Great rustic accents and old original wall paintings bring the guest room to life. The wood fireplace was the highlight for us. Service: Great! Every wish was fulfilled. Very intuitive. Also my partner (himself Chef de Cuisine) was thrilled. It's a family business and you notice that straight away. From grandma & grandpa, mom & dad to younger nephews and grandchildren, everyone is represented. And you can tell how seriously they take and love this business. The service, the posture and the mannerisms of the servers resembled fine dining for us. The food: Fantastic! The crust of my scoop was crispy and perfect! I could have eaten tons of it! Dumplings fluffy. And the sauce was sensational. My partner chose the moussaka and was raving about it the whole time. The main course was so perfect for him that he didn't want dessert. Conclusion: We will definitely be back!

Great beer garden with very good food and friendly service

Some of the food was very good and the service was friendly, although occasionally something was forgotten and we had to remind the waiter! Unfortunately, with a plate of fries and soflaki, the soflaki was very thin and therefore very dry! The rest was super juicy! I highly recommend the cheese-filled soflaki!

We actually wanted to get something to eat for Mother's Day today and went to a Greek restaurant where we were always thrilled. No sooner said than done, we picked up the food and were really shocked. The schnitzel wasn't seasoned, I don't think there was any salt in the fries, the gyros were all flax and way too many pieces of fat and last but not least the butter rice was not butter rice but vegetable rice. Unfortunately the food ended up in the trash because it wasn't good. There is no need to talk about the prices anymore, but unfortunately we will look for a new Greek.

Food wasn't very good. Baby calamaris were baked, hardly any breading and totally fatty. Food was cold and for the money €17.50 for 4 small calamari and some fries was way too expensive. We won't be coming back

Great, sometimes exceptional cuisine, such as Saganaki Garides, the vegetables for the fish dishes and the homemade herb butter. Meat, especially souvlaki, is almost always buttery and juicy. The guys are super friendly and you always feel very welcome.

The plates are very tasty. In keeping with the location, there is also a Wallenstein room and some interesting paintings about this Zhema on the walls.

Eat like in Greece! The salad with chicken strips was great. My souflaki was also nice and juicy and super tasty. We have found our new "favorite Greek".

The taste of the food was ok, but you can't go wrong with baked zucchini and aubergines and ready-made pasta. And then charging €25 for it is too much. The price was way too expensive for the food presented. We will not eat here again.

We were looking for a place to have dinner after a busy day at the fair and came across the Golden Lion. First of all, one thing: it was absolutely great! I don't know how authentically Greek the cuisine in Löwen is, I can only say: I really enjoyed it. And no Greek restaurant has managed to do that yet, which is why I'm actually not a particular fan of these restaurants. I was able to experience a village plate that also had grilled liver - it was cooked to perfection. It couldn't be better - which I told the kitchen and thanked them. 👍 When we returned days later, the waiter asked if I would like a portion of liver! (I would like to have a personal memory like that!) And of course I couldn't miss it... By the way: it was absolutely perfect again - great cinema on the plate! That was true for everyone in our group: utmost satisfaction, we all thought it was a shame that the Golden Lion was a bit far away for us Austrians... 😉 Great cuisine, such friendly and competent service people in a pleasant atmosphere - that's the Golden Lion! Thank you for these evenings!

The salmon fillet with vegetables from the lunch menu that I chose was excellent. The Olympic plate and the zander fillet not only looked very good, but according to reports from my friends they were also excellent. We can only recommend it and we will come back.

Dry gyros, really good Schäufele

Not everything becomes more expensive, but the portions simply become fewer. 3 calamari + a handful of gyros for 15 euros. Quality is good, quantity is very meager, especially for goods that really don't cost anything to buy. Don't know if I'll come again.

Went for the first time today and were very satisfied, very nice and courteous service. The warm starter platter for 2 people is highly recommended 👍 I have never eaten such good calamari, absolutely great! We can only recommend it and don't understand the negative reviews at all.
