Gök-Ay Döner in Herne

Absolutely terrible! The meat wasn't even brown, and the doner kebab you pay a lot of money for basically just contains salad. You definitely won't get full here.

I wanted to order a lahmacun, but unfortunately they don't have it here anymore. So I drove 500m further and bought a döner kebab at Holthausen!

The doner kebab was cold. And what annoyed me most was the lack of meat for €7.50.

Unfortunately, a disappointing experience. I wanted to eat lahmacun, but I was told the oven was already off (8:30 pm). However, less than two minutes later, another couple (obviously Turkish) arrived, and suddenly the oven was turned back on. Instead of lahmacun, I had to eat fries. We were asked several times if we wouldn't rather takeout – overall, we felt completely unwelcome. It's a shame the owners aren't the same ones they used to be.

Change of ownership, I suppose?! No more lahmacun on offer—a real shame. The quality has declined considerably.

I chose a fries kebab and got almost raw meat. The fries were in the fryer for two minutes and were simply soft. The cocktail sauce made them even softer, so I didn't want to eat them anymore. The food is simply terrible; I wouldn't recommend it.

Tried it spontaneously following a recommendation from a colleague! Actually, I've tried everything in the area and I can honestly say that everything here is just perfect! I've rarely experienced something like this by chance. More negative experiences, like in Cologne after rapper Nas' concert at the Illmatic 30th anniversary 🎊🥉🎉 by the way... 😬. I ate the worst kebab of my life there. But here, everything was perfect from start to finish. Service, food [Berliner sauce, meat, salad, bread] 👌 everything was top-notch!!! The staff and owner were super friendly and accommodating! Nice conversation and a cozy atmosphere... The decor is reminiscent of the American burger 🍔 stores from the classic movies 🎥 that you know... super cool 😎 and highly recommended! Good luck, good luck! Keep it up, guys, you're the best! 🤙🏼

Very bad staff with very bad manners, aggressive. They treat customers badly, and the food tastes absolutely nothing, whether we eat there or what we order from home. It's a huge difference.

One of the best doner kebabs in Herne For me, this is the best doner kebab in Hothausen – even if the portions are sometimes a bit small. For an extra charge, it gets significantly better. The shop has since expanded and opened a second branch in Castrop-Rauxel – with a 20-meter line on opening day. My tip: • 🍗 The chicken doner kebab is more filling. • 🐄 The veal doner kebab still tastes great. Bottom line: For me, this is the second-best doner kebab in all of Herne – and that's saying something.

The tastiest kebab in a long time, fresh and crispy bread, the Berliner sauce really tasty, and the box is exactly the same. I have to add, the nicest boss, junior boss, and team ever. Not only is the food delicious here, but you can also have a good conversation, and everyone is friendly, helpful, and always has a few tips and advice to offer. So if you don't just want to eat but also think outside the box, you can't go wrong here; it's a rare find these days. Keep up the good work, greetings from a salad-doner addict.

The food (doner kebab, lahmacun, fries) tastes very good, but the prices have become too high, especially the "extra charge" for the sauces from Berlin. Are there no good sauces in the Ruhr area?! Nowhere else do you pay extra for sauce, but here you do. Therefore, it's become rather unattractive for me.

Never had such a bad kebab! I ordered two kebab parcels, but instead received two salad parcels (see picture). What a disgrace!!!

Today I ate a tuna pizza with onions. The pizza was good and without any visible charring, which is rare these days. I can recommend it. I think they only turn on the oven at 3 p.m. I'll be back.

I don't understand the negative comments at all. The quality has been consistently delicious and plentiful from the day it opened to today. The team is really nice and always tries to do everything right (mistakes can happen, we are human), but you can talk to the team objectively about anything. I have often placed a group order during my shift and all my colleagues were impressed by the taste, the amount of portions and the selection of sauces. I can only say that I don't like to give up when I feel like a kebab, like tomorrow on the late shift when I invite my colleagues who supported me so well today over. You're a sauce vulture! If you don't want to keep the name, add more sauce! Standard meat, unsalted fries, 50 cents extra for every second sauce on a kebab. Then just go ahead and get a little more, but around here, nobody charges extra for sauce.

Used to be great, now rather disappointing At first, I was really excited about the kebab, it was fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, the quality has declined significantly. The taste is no longer convincing. The staff is also very inconsistent: sometimes friendly, sometimes rather annoyed or disinterested. What also bothers me as a woman is that you sometimes feel like you're being watched, which doesn't exactly make your visit any more pleasant. It's a shame, because the place had real potential in the past. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it anymore.

1 star Unfortunately an absolute disappointment. The “veal” turned out to be a questionable mixture of chicken, rooster and turkey – a taste disaster. The sucuk was of the cheapest variety and barely edible. The salesperson seemed overwhelmed and couldn't use his own devices properly. Overall, a really unpleasant experience. Never again!

Doner kebab is not too full, not too empty, the ideal balance of salad, meat and sauce. There's veal and chicken, I took veal. And two boxes of fries to take away. Doner kebab with Berlin sauce and complete salad. The madness!!! Bread is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Chip box with veal and curry sauce and a bit of iceberg lettuce. Conclusion: the kids ate up. The ambience is dark and modern. Cleanliness 10/10 Sauces cost extra if you want more than 1. But I think it's OK When I'm in Herne I eat kebab here!!!

We ordered for 6 people today. 2 dishes were delivered correctly. 3 meals were wrong. Unfortunately there was hot sauce on the wrong food. So I couldn't eat it at all. 1 meal was missing. Two kebabs were delivered later. The end of the song: I sat there without food. The other two were waiting for the kebabs.

Really extremely tasty. Whether chicken kebab, falafel bag, falafel dürüm or fries, everything has been great so far! The selection of sauces is great. It's also nice how professionally the food is packaged so that the sauces don't leak and the food stays hot. Soon I'll try the lentil soup and the baklava.

This kebab with the famous Berlin sauce simply tastes better. But it's not just the sauce that's right, all the other ingredients, especially the meat, taste convincing and, thank God, don't turn the eating experience into a unique experience... I regularly travel to Herne 1-2 times a week to enjoy the delicious veal kebab. I don't want to exaggerate, but I've never had a better kebab!

The kebab was okay, but nothing special. The meat was OK, but not particularly juicy or flavorful. The sauce tasted good, but there could have been more of it. The bread was fresh but a bit too thick for my taste. Overall, it wasn't a bad kebab, but not one that I would necessarily have to repeat. It's enough to satisfy a quick hunger, but there are better alternatives.

Was there for the first time today. I took menu 1, which was with chicken and fries and a drink. I have to say very tasty. The fries were crispy and the ingredients were fresh. You can eat outside and inside. Not noble, but that's how it works. Street in the immediate vicinity. Toilets available. TOP. A matter of taste. Recommendation.

Good evening, We ordered 2 dishes today. I had a veal kebab for 15 euros. Waiting time: One hour and 10 minutes. We live 350 meters away. The food wasn't even lukewarm. Counted 9 fries were under the veal. I called immediately due to the temperature of the food. Nothing came except an apology. Never this grill again!! Kind regards

We were in transit and can't understand the positive reviews. We had menu 2 once and menu 4 once. With the Dürüm menu, the fries were initially forgotten, but we were able to pick them up without any problem. The portion of the kebab plate with fries, veal and salad was a lot smaller than the Dürüm filled with salad and veal plus the very large portion of fries. But the kebab plate cost more. To compare the portion of fries, take a look at the pictures I've included here. At least I was able to finish my friend's fries because she couldn't finish everything. The fries were actually too crispy and a little too salty. There is no service if you eat on site. You pick up the food at the counter. There is seating inside and outside. But it's not a restaurant, so we don't expect service and don't rate it either. The taste was ok, but the veal kebab is almost pure minced meat. Unfortunately, in our opinion, this doesn't have much to do with kebab. It's just a rotating meat skewer. Or rather, rotating meat spit. The cocktail sauce was ok, but probably not homemade.

I ate there twice, the first time the fries were totally limp and not even really crispy and the second time, the lamacun wasn't a lamacun, it was really oily, it just tasted like Bolognese, it was just a single mass where you could eat I couldn't taste what was in it and the part was far too thin and flabby. Employees were also not motivated.

Kebab shop has declined significantly. Initially the kebab had a lot of meat and no extra costs. There is now little meat in the kebabs and corn, jalapenos and hot sauce cost 50 cents extra. Some of the employees aren't the friendliest either. Really disappointing as a former regular customer

The price performance ratio is very good. What we ate there was delicious. Not too much, but not too little either. If you like Turkish cuisine, you're in good hands here. We were welcomed very friendly. The interior is somewhat reminiscent of an American style. The medical facilities are also very clean. Our fastit is that we would definitely come back again and again.

At the beginning, both sides of the kebab were smeared with sauce, which I thought was great. Doner was great. Yesterday, as always, I ordered herbs and tzatziki sauce, what do you do, you charge me €0.50 extra. But because I only chose one salad ingredient for the other kebab and left out 4, you didn't deduct 4x €0.50 from the other kebab. Since you didn't create a receipt for every kebab anyway, you could have left the sauce for free. Unfortunately, our journey together is over.
