Glut & Wasser in Oldenburg (Oldb)

We were here around lunchtime. The food (or at least the burgers with extra finger food) was so-so and felt like it was simply better at some fast-food joints. The atmosphere was okay and the service was attentive and friendly (well, we were the only customers there), BUT when paying by card, the tip option appears prominently first, which I found off-putting. Unfortunately, not good enough to return.

In my opinion, the price/performance ratio isn't right. The portions aren't very large for the price. The service was good, but we'll try a different restaurant next time.

We reserved a table at 6:30 PM, it's now 7:45 PM and there's no sign of any food except for appetizers... Furthermore, we (a group of 20) were told that the schnitzel wasn't available because of our size. I wonder if four tables of five people each get schnitzel, which would amount to the same thing 🤔 The fries were very tasty, just a bit salty. The burger was good, but the price-performance ratio isn't quite right. While the portions aren't small, the appetizer "nachos," for example, was very large and enough to fill you up. It seems to be a trendy place, which they've added to the price. The restrooms were very clean; they even had deodorant and cotton swabs, but unfortunately, there were no toothpicks on the table. The service deserves special mention; in our case, it was "Pia," who was very nice, friendly, and responsive. Would I eat here again? I would try a different restaurant 😉

Cozy restaurant with good food. The staff knows what they're talking about. One of us has a gluten, lactose, soy, and oat allergy. We had a delicious meal there without any problems, and they really took our needs into account. Fantastic!

We were there for a business lunch and had colleagues from Wuppertal with us. It was their first time in Oldenburg. We found the atmosphere and service very good, the food selection was excellent, and the food was delicious.

I've been to Glut und Wasser five times now, four of them for dinner and once for an after-work beer. For the latter, they offer a fine selection of pilsners, light beers, and even IPAs. For food, my go-to is the cheese and bacon burger with fries. Like everything on the menu, it's in the higher price range, but the portion size is also good – if you're not completely starving, it's easily enough. The burgers and fries also taste very good because they're neither overseasoned nor drowning in sauce. I do have one suggestion for improving the recipe, though: Like in many burger joints, the patty here is made from slightly too finely chopped meat and is too firm; a bit more fluff would be nice. The service has always been friendly and courteous, and the industrial ambiance with its slightly rustic touch is very pleasant. My colleagues and I feel so comfortable and well looked after here that we always enjoy stopping by Glut und Wasser for our sundowner.

The food was visually appealing, but the quality was more than basic. It's a chain restaurant that you can find better elsewhere. Ordering from a tray takes some getting used to. The waitress was very helpful, though. It was quite loud in the restaurant. Conclusion: not necessarily something to repeat.

It was my first time eating there and I have to say: Apart from the beautiful location, the visit was unfortunately disappointing. I ordered the special burger with chanterelle mushrooms and bacon. The most important element is, of course, the patty… according to the menu, it weighs 180g and is made from 100% Angus beef. At €23, I expect a homemade patty cooked medium-rare. However, I got a fully cooked patty that was very hard and sinewy. I deliberately say "well cooked" because the patty had no grill or frying marks. It was simply gray and completely colorless. I left the patty and just ate the rest of the burger. Unfortunately, no one asked how it tasted when they cleared the table, although it's noticeable when someone leaves the patty untouched. Overall, the price doesn't match the quality offered. What a shame.

On one of the last beautiful days in October, we ate some truly excellent burgers outside the restaurant with a view of the water. Scanning the "old" menu with a QR code was unusual for us, but we managed. I would recommend studying the menu beforehand; then things go a bit faster in the restaurant. Friendly and prompt service. It's certainly a chain restaurant, but of a high standard.

The food (burgers) was quite tasty, the drink selection was extensive, and the atmosphere by the water was really nice. However, the "liquor of the day" ran out quite early in the evening, and not everyone in the group got one. On top of that, someone was already asking for coffee 1.5 hours before closing time because they wanted to clean the machine... okay... that was a bit of a shame.

Nice ambiance and very friendly staff. Unfortunately, the Hot Kimchi Burger disappointed me – the meat was tough and thick, the fries cold and dry. Overall, the taste wasn't great. My friend had a bowl and was very satisfied, however. Therefore, 3 stars for the atmosphere and service, but deducted for the food.

A very nice restaurant, with the option of sitting right on the harbor promenade when the weather is nice. Vegan options were truly delicious. You can order and pay via a QR code or with the very attentive staff. Highly recommended :)

I ate there yesterday with my brother and niece, who had recommended the restaurant to us. Great atmosphere and friendly service. We chose from the lunch menu. My brother and niece had the burger, and I had the "small" Wiener schnitzel with homemade potato salad. The food was excellent and the quantity was absolutely sufficient. Highly recommended. I will definitely eat there again during my vacation.

Five of us ate there in the evening. The location is great. You can enjoy the view of the water even from inside. We sat at a nice, large round table, so we could have a good conversation. The pale ale was good. We ordered several dishes and didn't have to wait long for our food. None of us were impressed with the food. The sweet potato fries were well-seasoned and crispy, but unfortunately sticky. The Korean tofu bowl wasn't convincing. There were too few vegetables in it. The tofu cubes were too hard and dry. The burger was inedible because it wasn't bite-sized. You don't want to cut it into pieces and then eat it individually. The shawarma bowl was delicious, the meat was well-seasoned and not dry. But there were too few vegetables overall (just a few peppers and onions).

One of the staff members seemed new and made a few minor mistakes, but they were friendly and efficient. The food was good, slightly on the pricey side, but that’s Oldenburg for you. I’d recommend trying Glut & Wasser.

We had a reservation and were seated at a not-so-nice high table by the exit. The food was rather mediocre and not so beautifully presented, but the prices were on the high side. The service was annoyed that we were still ordering food at 8:30 p.m. My friend had fries for 17 euros!!! A huge portion, one person could never finish. One visit and never again, as it was far too expensive.

We wanted to try something new in Oldenburg and not always go to the same restaurant. We asked Google and landed on Glut & Wasser. And we were not disappointed. The service was very friendly and accommodating, something we haven't experienced before. The guest is still "king" here. The online menu with simultaneous ordering and payment system is explained immediately, and it worked well. However, the older generation is overwhelmed by it, as I noticed at the next table. The food was very tasty and delicious. The ambiance was great. A big plus is that when the weather is nice, you can sit outside right by the water and be served. All in all, we'll be back.

Unfortunately, the visit was disappointing overall. The burgers weren't as tasty as they should have been – the patty was dry and rock-hard, despite the advertised juicy and freshness. The onion rings were also fried for far too long and were also rock-hard. The price was clearly too high for the quality offered. However, I would like to highlight the friendly staff and the pleasant atmosphere, which enhanced the experience somewhat.

They also have gluten-free burgers, which I also found quite remarkable. The service was also very friendly, and we felt well looked after.

The place was empty, but instead of giving us a table, they asked for our reservation confirmation because they wanted to look for errors in the system. Instead of giving us a table, they simply left us standing there while they looked for the error in the system. They even confirmed that a table would have been available even without a reservation, but they left us standing there anyway. With such poor customer service, we decided to leave – who knows how long we would have been standing there otherwise...

Unfortunately, my Burger Petty wasn't homemade, but from the wholesale market. At €20.90, I expect it to be homemade. After the feedback, the answer remains that the Petty wasn't homemade, which meant it was very dry and dense. That's unacceptable at almost €21 for a burger. Whether it's frozen from the wholesale market or from a local butcher unfortunately makes little difference after preparation. I'd love to try making a frozen Petty at home and a homemade Petty 😉, which tastes better?

After a first visit, which we didn't fully enjoy due to various circumstances, we gave the restaurant another chance this weekend. We received a very friendly welcome, the food arrived very quickly, and they checked on us several times during our stay. This time, we were very impressed with the taste; the sauces were delicious and the food was hot. We did complain that the bread roll was over-saturated with sauce, which made it very soggy. This time, it was very well-balanced, and the fries were—just like last time—really good. The dips were also good. The only thing I still noticed is that the bread roll gets soggy quickly. The taste, however, was really good.

Yesterday, three of us went to Glut & Wasser and were thoroughly impressed. The food was excellent – creative, fresh, and of a high standard of flavor. The service was fast, very friendly, and accommodating. We were particularly impressed by the stylish ambiance right on the water – the view is truly stunning. The only nuisance, which is in no way the restaurant's fault: the "3 Series BMW posers with their lowered puppet theaters" feel the need to regularly roar through the adjacent play street. This briefly spoils the otherwise relaxed atmosphere, but is clearly beyond the restaurant's control. Nevertheless: Glut & Wasser is definitely back on our list. Absolutely recommend it!

The value for money was perfectly acceptable, considering the minimum wage and the excellent service. The staff was very attentive, friendly, and always approachable. The food could have been more oriental in its flavor.

We ate there yesterday. The service was very nice. But the food? A lot of room for improvement! The burgers weren't grilled, but cooked in a convection oven (I'm a chef myself with 30 years of professional experience). They were juicy, but nothing more. The fries were okay, the second portion of sweet potatoes, not so much. Why they were all stuck together is a mystery to me. (Actually, it's not a mystery at all, but I don't want to assume anything!) Sorry if I, or we, pay almost 100 euros including drinks; I simply expect more. For a 20-euro burger, that's simply a no-go. Add to that the fact that it's located in a traffic-calmed zone, either motorcycles or cars, not to mention pedestrians, are constantly roaring past. Well, the owners can't do anything about it, but it's just incredibly annoying. Conclusion: One visit and never again!

Beautiful location on the waterfront promenade. Well-chilled Paulaner wheat beer. The pork and beef currywurst is delicious with French fries. I've heard of better homemade curry sauce, but it's good.

Because the weather was nice, we sat in the garden by the water under the trees. The restaurant's location made it very relaxed, and we didn't feel cramped. The service was very good; the drinks and food were brought quickly (but not too quickly). We had starters that revealed a variety of flavors, and the portions weren't too large. The main courses were carefully prepared and equally delicious. The garden is highly recommended, as it's quieter than the gardens of restaurants that are also located by the harbor, but closer to the city center. The value for money is reasonable.

So, we ate fish in beer batter. I have to say, the whole meal really wasn't that special. It would have tasted better at any fish stall. And then the paper on the plate, which unravels after you cut it twice and gets stuck onto your fork like newspaper. We didn't understand what that was all about—saving on washing up? The service was very friendly. We won't be going back there anytime soon. And the menu is also very lacking. Overall, disappointing, unfortunately.
