Glut & Wasser in Oldenburg (Oldb)

We visited on Saturday and were very satisfied. In perfect weather, we were able to spend a truly lovely evening outside with five people. We received super friendly service, and the food was truly delicious! Burgers, bowls, and salmon risotto—everything was absolutely fantastic!

As always, I'm very satisfied with the food and service. I visited you last week with my clients and can recommend the visit to everyone, with its breathtaking view of the Hunte River.

Unfriendly staff. They were asking too much to bring water for my dog. Wait times for food were longer than stated. Food was very expensive. ...I definitely won't be back!

Four of us were there for dinner... Since one person was a bit late (10 minutes), we naturally wanted to wait to order and order together... Five of us ate there in the evening. The location is great. You can enjoy the view of the water even from inside. We sat at a nice, large round table, so we could have a good conversation. The pale ale was good. We ordered several dishes and didn't have to wait long for our food. None of us were impressed with the food. The sweet potato fries were well-seasoned and crispy, but unfortunately sticky. The Korean tofu bowl wasn't convincing. There were too few vegetables in it. The tofu cubes were too hard and dry. The burger was inedible because it wasn't bite-sized. You don't want to cut it into pieces and then eat it individually. The shawarma bowl was delicious, the meat was well-seasoned and not dry. But there were too few vegetables overall (just a few peppers and onions).

The evening was once again very nice! Great food! Service was incredibly friendly and attentive! I personally don't like the QR code menu that much, but that's a matter of opinion 😃

One of the staff members seemed new and made a few minor mistakes, but they were friendly and efficient. The food was good, slightly on the pricey side, but that’s Oldenburg for you. I’d recommend trying Glut & Wasser.

We had a reservation and were seated at a not-so-nice high table by the exit. The food was rather mediocre and not so beautifully presented, but the prices were on the high side. The service was annoyed that we were still ordering food at 8:30 p.m. My friend had fries for 17 euros!!! A huge portion, one person could never finish. One visit and never again, as it was far too expensive.

We wanted to try something new in Oldenburg and not always go to the same restaurant. We asked Google and landed on Glut & Wasser. And we were not disappointed. The service was very friendly and accommodating, something we haven't experienced before. The guest is still "king" here. The online menu with simultaneous ordering and payment system is explained immediately, and it worked well. However, the older generation is overwhelmed by it, as I noticed at the next table. The food was very tasty and delicious. The ambiance was great. A big plus is that when the weather is nice, you can sit outside right by the water and be served. All in all, we'll be back.

I ate there yesterday and had a pesto chicken burger. It was so incredibly delicious! I've eaten a lot of burgers in my life, but rarely one as incredibly delicious! They also have gluten-free burgers, which I also found quite remarkable. The service was also very friendly, and we felt well looked after.

Unfortunately, my Burger Petty wasn't homemade, but from the wholesale market. At €20.90, I expect it to be homemade. After the feedback, the answer remains that the Petty wasn't homemade, which meant it was very dry and dense. That's unacceptable at almost €21 for a burger. Whether it's frozen from the wholesale market or from a local butcher unfortunately makes little difference after preparation. I'd love to try making a frozen Petty at home and a homemade Petty 😉, which tastes better?

After a first visit, which we didn't fully enjoy due to various circumstances, we gave the restaurant another chance this weekend. We received a very friendly welcome, the food arrived very quickly, and they checked on us several times during our stay. This time, it was very well-balanced, and the fries were—just like last time—really good. The dips were also good. The only thing I still noticed is that the bread roll gets soggy quickly. The service was fast, very friendly, and accommodating. We were particularly impressed by the stylish ambiance right on the water – the view is truly stunning. The only nuisance, which is in no way the restaurant's fault: the "3 Series BMW posers with their lowered puppet theaters" feel the need to regularly roar through the adjacent play street. This briefly spoils the otherwise relaxed atmosphere, but is clearly beyond the restaurant's control. Nevertheless: Glut & Wasser is definitely back on our list. Absolutely recommend it!

We ate there yesterday. The service was very nice. But the food? A lot of room for improvement! The burgers weren't grilled, but cooked in a convection oven (I'm a chef myself with 30 years of professional experience). They were juicy, but nothing more. The fries were okay, the second portion of sweet potatoes, not so much. Why they were all stuck together is a mystery to me. (Actually, it's not a mystery at all, but I don't want to assume anything!) Sorry if I, or we, pay almost 100 euros including drinks; I simply expect more. For a 20-euro burger, that's simply a no-go. Add to that the fact that it's located in a traffic-calmed zone, either motorcycles or cars, not to mention pedestrians, are constantly roaring past. Well, the owners can't do anything about it, but it's just incredibly annoying. Conclusion: One visit and never again!

Beautiful location on the waterfront promenade. Well-chilled Paulaner wheat beer. The pork and beef currywurst is delicious with French fries. I've heard of better homemade curry sauce, but it's good.

Because the weather was nice, we sat in the garden by the water under the trees. The restaurant's location made it very relaxed, and we didn't feel cramped. The service was very good; the drinks and food were brought quickly (but not too quickly). We had starters that revealed a variety of flavors, and the portions weren't too large. The main courses were carefully prepared and equally delicious. The garden is highly recommended, as it's quieter than the gardens of restaurants that are also located by the harbor, but closer to the city center. The value for money is reasonable.

And then the paper on the plate, which unravels after you cut it twice and gets stuck onto your fork like newspaper. We didn't understand what that was all about—saving on washing up? We had to wait 75min to get a burger. They are having more tables then they can handle with their capacity. Burger was also overcooked at the end. I will never go this restaurant after this terrible first experience.

We arrive at 9 p.m. and can't order burgers from the online menu because they're not listed. So the waiter tells us to order from him. Then he disappears for half an hour, only to tell us when we order that he'd unfortunately forgotten about us and the kitchen is now closed. (It was 9:32 p.m., two minutes late...) The food has always been delicious. But the service here is absolutely terrible...

A perhaps expected but somewhat disappointing dining experience prompted me to write a review for Glut und Wasser. First of all, I'd like to say that overall we had a lovely evening in this truly well-located and relaxed restaurant. The service was very friendly and attentive, and there's a good selection of drinks. The menu already suggests that the restaurant is now focusing more on fast-paced, trendy cuisine. Bowls, fries, and burgers dominate the menu. The initial impression of a local, seasonal dish in the form of a classic asparagus plate was all the more pleasant. The menu describes a "creamy" hollandaise sauce, with an optional veal schnitzel offered, among other options. Ultimately, this very hollandaise sauce showed that, unfortunately, the cooking skills, or rather, the quality of the dishes, have largely gone out the window at Glut und Wasser. They simply used a generous dollop of ready-made sauce, with an unmistakable Lukull flavor. That was a real shame. The rest of the food was fine. A fourth star is awarded primarily for the truly pleasant and good service. And ultimately, it's always a question of standards and expectations of the food or restaurant. If you want a burger and nicely presented fries, this is the place for you! It should also be mentioned that the location, or rather the street around the restaurant, is unfortunately now also being used to force young men to drive their more or less presentable, loud cars in circles. But of course, the restaurant can't be blamed for that.

I was at the restaurant today, and overall, it was a really nice visit. The food was excellent – ​​top-notch in taste and lovingly presented. I also really liked the ambiance – stylish, cozy, and inviting. Unfortunately, the service wasn't up to par. While we received a friendly welcome at the beginning, the staff's attentiveness significantly dwindled over the course of the evening, especially after the shift change. Most of the employees seemed rather uninvolved and preferred to look at the floor rather than at the guests. It gave the impression that we were being "worked through" – this became especially clear when we were asked to leave the table because our time was obviously up. One bright spot was a single waitress who was very friendly and attentive and served us with a smile – we would like to specifically highlight that! Overall, the evening was still nice, and the food and ambiance made up for a lot. If the service had generally been as warm as that of the aforementioned employee, it would have been an all-around perfect visit. Therefore, we give three stars for the service and four stars overall for the evening.

Annoying situation The server complains that we (four people in an empty restaurant) each order and pay for our food on our phones. We just wanted separate bills. He says, offended, that he now has to wait for four receipts...and that should have been written somewhere! A little tip: if the guest is going to place their own order on their smartphone and pay electronically, please replace the eye-rolling server with an eye-rolling robot. We'd be perfectly fine with that!!!! We won't be back.

We came here spontaneously on a Friday evening and had to wait 15 minutes for a table, but that wasn't a problem at all, as the friendly staff seated us at the bar. Inside, there's a cozy, lively atmosphere, enhanced by warm lighting and beautiful decor. The food itself is only available on a digital menu, where you can order directly, which I personally find very sustainable and practical. Nevertheless, we placed our order with a super-friendly server and didn't have to wait too long for our food. The food was fabulous! The quality and presentation alone showed how much effort went into it. I can only recommend the Vegan Kimchi Burger; I was simply blown away by it. The combination of the light, spicy kimchi with the flavorful, juicy patty (one of the best vegan patties I've ever had in a restaurant) combined with fresh vegetables was a dream! My only criticism is the noise level at times; because it was packed inside, it was sometimes difficult to hold a conversation. All in all, though, it was very good :)
