We've been going to Glut und Wasser for years. The food is always top quality, the service is excellent, and we always feel right at home. The prices are slightly higher compared to similar restaurants.

The salad bowl was excellent. The kale with Pinkel sausage was partly a disappointment (the kale was overcooked, the Kasseler pork was a strange, sticky mess). Meerpohl offers this dish perfectly for half the price.

It's always amazing. Even after almost 10 years, this establishment hasn't tired of setting the standard for contemporary, highly individualized gastronomy in Oldenburg. The slick, highly efficient chains can only look on in comparison.

The restaurant is located on the pedestrianized section of "Am Stau" street. This is great for the seating on the terrace in the summer, but inconvenient for parking. The interior design is best described as a cozy industrial look with steel, concrete, and wood. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu offers an interesting fusion of German comfort food (kale, smoked pork loin, duck, etc.), American cuisine (burgers, fries, nachos), and Asian/Korean and Middle Eastern influences. It's very tasty and a nice change from the burgers at "Peter Pane" or "Hans im Glück" (both of which are also in Oldenburg and highly recommended if you like premium burgers). The homemade iced teas and lemonades are also highly recommended. The only criticism is the kitchen's relatively slow service compared to its competitors: a group of friends has time for an extra round of drinks before the food arrives. This warrants a one-point deduction from an otherwise perfect rating.

The Glut&Wasser burger with fries was great. When I asked about the spicy dips, the server handed me a tablet. It listed the dips, but unfortunately, no further information. The menu was accessible via a QR code on my phone at the table. I appreciate digitalization, but I'm still a bit old-school and would have preferred a physical menu. But all in all, it was a very good visit and I was satisfied.

Unfortunately, only three stars. First impression: no menu, just a phone. That's inconvenient with kids. I find a clear menu much more pleasant. Everyone in our group (4) who ordered schnitzel complained. "Way too thin, tastes only of breading." It doesn't help that it's on the menu. A children's schnitzel for €18 is too expensive! The bowls were delicious. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough in them. The meat was great, but please, a bit more of the side dishes. We paid over €250 for 6 adults and 2 kids, and 3 of us weren't full. What a shame. The service was very friendly.

There were three of us this evening, and I'll try to sort through my impressions a bit: Negative: No menu; everything is done via mobile phone and a QR code. However, the website is, in my opinion, completely confusing, and everyone at the table was trying to read the tiny text on their phones. You then order from the waiter, who immediately points out how long your table is reserved for—this happened twice during our first two visits. It seemed to us as if they wanted to get us through as quickly as possible to fill the table again. The rest of the restaurant doesn't quite fit this concept. I think they're aiming for a more upscale atmosphere and a cozy ambiance (which they've achieved very well, by the way), which is somewhat difficult with a timer that starts counting down as soon as you sit down. Other restaurants handle this differently. Incidentally, the online reservation doesn't mention that the table is only reserved for a certain time; at least, I didn't see anything like that. We didn't find the service particularly friendly, but that's very subjective and I don't want to dwell on it too much. Nobody's perfect. On the plus side: The ambiance is great, really cozy, the tables are well arranged, and there's plenty of space. The interior is very fitting and lovingly designed. The menu is varied; I think everyone will find something they like, but it's not so huge that it's overwhelming. In my opinion, the food isn't outstanding, but it's definitely of a high standard, and the prices aren't exorbitant. Parking is excellent at the Cinemaxx. I especially appreciated the wide selection of non-alcoholic drinks, which aren't usually found on every menu. Overall, the visit wasn't bad in terms of the food, drinks, and ambiance, but the service and the overall concept made us feel quite uncomfortable.

We went there for dinner on Christmas Day evening with a large group (22 people) and we all loved it. They had a great Christmas menu, and you could also order from the regular menu. The food was delicious, and everything arrived at the same time. Excellent value for money! 👍🏼 We would definitely go back. There's nothing negative to say.

We were here around lunchtime. The food (or at least the burgers with extra finger food) was so-so and felt like it was simply better at some fast-food joints. The atmosphere was okay and the service was attentive and friendly (well, we were the only customers there), BUT when paying by card, the tip option appears prominently first, which I found off-putting. Unfortunately, not good enough to return.

In my opinion, the price/performance ratio isn't right. The portions aren't very large for the price. The service was good, but we'll try a different restaurant next time.

We reserved a table at 6:30 PM, it's now 7:45 PM and there's no sign of any food except for appetizers... Furthermore, we (a group of 20) were told that the schnitzel wasn't available because of our size. I wonder if four tables of five people each get schnitzel, which would amount to the same thing 🤔 The fries were very tasty, just a bit salty. The burger was good, but the price-performance ratio isn't quite right. While the portions aren't small, the appetizer "nachos," for example, was very large and enough to fill you up. It seems to be a trendy place, which they've added to the price. The restrooms were very clean; they even had deodorant and cotton swabs, but unfortunately, there were no toothpicks on the table. The service deserves special mention; in our case, it was "Pia," who was very nice, friendly, and responsive. Would I eat here again? I would try a different restaurant 😉

Cozy restaurant with good food. The staff knows what they're talking about. One of us has a gluten, lactose, soy, and oat allergy. We had a delicious meal there without any problems, and they really took our needs into account. Fantastic!

The food was visually appealing, but the quality was more than basic. It's a chain restaurant that you can find better elsewhere. Ordering from a tray takes some getting used to. The waitress was very helpful, though. It was quite loud in the restaurant. Conclusion: not necessarily something to repeat.

I've been to Glut und Wasser five times now, four of them for dinner and once for an after-work beer. For the latter, they offer a fine selection of pilsners, light beers, and even IPAs. For food, my go-to is the cheese and bacon burger with fries. Like everything on the menu, it's in the higher price range, but the portion size is also good – if you're not completely starving, it's easily enough. The burgers and fries also taste very good because they're neither overseasoned nor drowning in sauce. I do have one suggestion for improving the recipe, though: Like in many burger joints, the patty here is made from slightly too finely chopped meat and is too firm; a bit more fluff would be nice. The service has always been friendly and courteous, and the industrial ambiance with its slightly rustic touch is very pleasant. My colleagues and I feel so comfortable and well looked after here that we always enjoy stopping by Glut und Wasser for our sundowner.

On one of the last beautiful days in October, we ate some truly excellent burgers outside the restaurant with a view of the water. Scanning the "old" menu with a QR code was unusual for us, but we managed. I would recommend studying the menu beforehand; then things go a bit faster in the restaurant. Friendly and prompt service. It's certainly a chain restaurant, but of a high standard.

It was my first time eating there and I have to say: Apart from the beautiful location, the visit was unfortunately disappointing. I ordered the special burger with chanterelle mushrooms and bacon. The most important element is, of course, the patty… according to the menu, it weighs 180g and is made from 100% Angus beef. At €23, I expect a homemade patty cooked medium-rare. However, I got a fully cooked patty that was very hard and sinewy. I deliberately say "well cooked" because the patty had no grill or frying marks. It was simply gray and completely colorless. I left the patty and just ate the rest of the burger. Unfortunately, no one asked how it tasted when they cleared the table, although it's noticeable when someone leaves the patty untouched. Overall, the price doesn't match the quality offered. What a shame.

The food (burgers) was quite tasty, the drink selection was extensive, and the atmosphere by the water was really nice. However, the "liquor of the day" ran out quite early in the evening, and not everyone in the group got one. On top of that, someone was already asking for coffee 1.5 hours before closing time because they wanted to clean the machine... okay... that was a bit of a shame.

My friend had a bowl and was very satisfied, however. Therefore, 3 stars for the atmosphere and service, but deducted for the food.

A very nice restaurant, with the option of sitting right on the harbor promenade when the weather is nice. Vegan options were truly delicious. You can order and pay via a QR code or with the very attentive staff. Highly recommended :)

I ate there yesterday with my brother and niece, who had recommended the restaurant to us. Great atmosphere and friendly service. We chose from the lunch menu. My brother and niece had the burger, and I had the "small" Wiener schnitzel with homemade potato salad. The food was excellent and the quantity was absolutely sufficient. Highly recommended. I will definitely eat there again during my vacation.

Five of us ate there in the evening. The location is great. You can enjoy the view of the water even from inside. We sat at a nice, large round table, so we could have a good conversation. The pale ale was good. We ordered several dishes and didn't have to wait long for our food. None of us were impressed with the food. The sweet potato fries were well-seasoned and crispy, but unfortunately sticky. The Korean tofu bowl wasn't convincing. There were too few vegetables in it. The tofu cubes were too hard and dry. The burger was inedible because it wasn't bite-sized. You don't want to cut it into pieces and then eat it individually. The shawarma bowl was delicious, the meat was well-seasoned and not dry. But there were too few vegetables overall (just a few peppers and onions).

One of the staff members seemed new and made a few minor mistakes, but they were friendly and efficient. The food was good, slightly on the pricey side, but that’s Oldenburg for you. I’d recommend trying Glut & Wasser.

The service was annoyed that we were still ordering food at 8:30 p.m. My friend had fries for 17 euros!!! A huge portion, one person could never finish. One visit and never again, as it was far too expensive.

We wanted to try something new in Oldenburg and not always go to the same restaurant. We asked Google and landed on Glut & Wasser. And we were not disappointed. The service was very friendly and accommodating, something we haven't experienced before. The guest is still "king" here. The online menu with simultaneous ordering and payment system is explained immediately, and it worked well. However, the older generation is overwhelmed by it, as I noticed at the next table. The food was very tasty and delicious. The ambiance was great. A big plus is that when the weather is nice, you can sit outside right by the water and be served. All in all, we'll be back.

Recommended, if you ignore the prices: Currywurst with fries €19.90, Alster schnitzel €6, outrageous, everyone has to decide for themselves whether they approve of such a thing. I swore by the potato snow with pulled pork. The service is of a high standard, clean, and the atmosphere is pleasant.

I ate there yesterday and had a pesto chicken burger. It was so incredibly delicious! I've eaten a lot of burgers in my life, but rarely one as incredibly delicious! They also have gluten-free burgers, which I also found quite remarkable. The service was also very friendly, and we felt well looked after.
