Glorious Café - Bar - Restaurant in Dortmund

A nice, quiet bar. Perfect for those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. However, they don't serve food very late at night, so I went to Antep Sofrasi with the guys later. You can't imagine how tired I already was. One of the guys had a bad day and didn't go to Antep. Possibly the best decision of his life. Well, Antep was packed, and we had to wait another 45 minutes. I'm still feeling the effects of the day. All in all, though, it's still a good bar.

The service was very friendly, but not overly pretentious. The food was plentiful, beautifully presented, and tasted truly delicious. I'd be happy to come back.

We went there for breakfast on September 6th through Groupon. The selection was extensive. A flat-rate coffee specialty was included. Very friendly service. The breakfast was fresh.

We visited here for breakfast yesterday. We arrived unannounced and were greeted very warmly. A wide selection of all kinds of delicious dishes. We ordered the "Glorious Breakfast" for two people, and we really enjoyed it! But too much 🫣 Bread rolls, crispy croissants, fruit, salmon, vegetables, scrambled eggs, French toast, salad, eggs, unlimited coffee, a large selection of juices, and of course two glasses of Prosecco—there was much more to choose from. Upon request, the kitchen even prepared an extra portion of croissants. We really enjoyed it. The waiters were prompt, friendly, and very attentive! Absolutely great value for money. The restrooms were clean. We felt very comfortable here and would gladly come back! Thank you for this wonderful experience in Dortmund.

The place was quite nice, but the waitress was so unmotivated. She barely managed to bring us a coffee; otherwise, she just sat around, showing no interest in the customers.

100% recommendation!!! We were there about a week ago. We were greeted very warmly by the waitress. She was attentive to our needs and requests. We felt very welcome. The breakfast for two (purchased through Groupon) was a great deal, very good, and fresh. Since we don't drink alcohol, we were offered an alternative. The hot chocolate with cream was incredibly delicious. I'm already looking forward to trying something different there today.

Hey, We were with you on June 5, 2025, and have nothing to complain about. The service was very friendly and courteous. We weren't constantly asked if we'd already decided. We were supposed to alert the staff after careful consideration. This way, our order wasn't made in a rush, but rather with calm and mature consideration. (We were able to read through all the dishes in peace and quiet and eliminate them.) The drinks tasted fantastic. Both the lemonade and the non-alcoholic cocktail were amazing! The name lived up to its promise! The first bite is always the most important part of a meal! Both dishes were impressive in terms of taste, heat, and presentation! Even the noodles were still warm to hot after about 15 minutes on the table! Anywhere else, they would have been cold! The ambiance itself was cozy and conducive to relaxing. When it's crowded, the tables might be too close together, and private conversations could be overheard, or you might even hear someone at the next table. But that's a minor annoyance and we wouldn't deduct a star for that. Conclusion: 5/5 stars for a wonderful evening we spent with you. We felt very comfortable, and I and my companion were able to enjoy the evening to the fullest.

We were there for breakfast today. We had a coupon from Groupon. We were there a year ago and we have to say that we were shocked at how things have changed there. First of all it took a while before we were even served. The breakfast was still good, but in contrast to a year ago, the portions were saved a bit (less fruit, less scrambled eggs...). In addition, we ALWAYS state that a person is allergic to tomatoes, but in principle this is never taken into account. Why can you make comments when making a reservation if no one pays attention to them anyway? When we brought this to our attention, it wasn't really addressed. After the speech, only the mozzarella without tomatoes was served. The toilets are partly damaged and dirty (men's toilet). In addition, the place was generally very dirty - the floor looked very dirty and we were there at 10am. The service was also bad, because no one even came to ask if we wanted something more to drink. We had to report ourselves and even then it was difficult for them to notice us. We think it's a real shame and unfortunately we won't be going there anymore.

I debated for a long time whether I would write this review here, but I decided to because I didn't think it was okay with how one of the employees was treated. I went here for a drink with a friend on a Saturday. There was a town festival and it was very crowded. We sat outside. It took a while for our drinks to arrive (but it was also super busy and full), but the service was very friendly and what we ordered was delicious. I still wouldn't come back again: When I went to the toilet, I saw a woman harshly pointing out that there was something to do. She was visibly stressed. Overall, I had the impression that there was a lot of pressure among the employees, perhaps also because of the city festival. I speculated that the rather young looking woman who was treated like this was new. While paying, I observed that the woman in question (I wanted to pay her and point out that her mascara was smeared and she had a black spot on her cheek) was approached very harshly by a middle-aged man (I assume from his habitus and behavior towards the other employees that he is the boss). My friend who came from the toilet said that the waitress came towards her crying and disappeared into the women's toilet. With that in mind, her smudged mascara somehow made more sense. The man appeared frustrated, cleaning glasses and looking out the window. I don't know anything about this waitress or the man. Maybe he was under a lot of pressure, maybe she wasn't new at all. Maybe he was having a bad day or she was. But I know that if someone is in tears at work in broad daylight in a crowded city, it can't be all that harmless. Therefore I give it one star for social reasons. People should treat people humanely - even or especially in working relationships.

I rarely write negative reviews, but I have to put today's experience down on virtual paper. During my visit to the city today, I urgently had to go to the toilet and asked Glorious if I could use the location - for a fee, of course. The gentleman from Glorious stood wide in the door and said in a harsh tone: “Only for customers!” After I pointed out again that I was of course paying for it and that I had often eaten and drank here with my women's group, I was again rudely refused entry. When I pointed out that I thought that was a shame and that we would probably look for another restaurant in the future, I only responded with a sneer: "I'll survive that!" Dear Glorious: If you deny another person the opportunity to satisfy a basic need, even after several offers of payment, it is an outrage if you are also treated like dirt. The pandemic has forced many restaurants to close. I find it more than presumptuous to stand up now in such a short time and suggest that you don't depend on customers anyway.

Very friendly and the service is very fast

Love this cafe so much, it's never as crowded as the other cafes nearby and is much more pleasant when you just want to chat. I studied there quite often during my Abitur and have since moved to another city to study, and still come back here every time I'm in Dortmund. The ambience and atmosphere are really nice and cozy but what really is the best thing about this café is the staff and the team that works there. I have rarely had such an open-minded, friendly and friendly team in restaurants and cafés as here. The service is really top, you are always happy to receive such a warm welcome. Above all, the lovely employee Bayram, a really kind person and so personable that you would want to come back just for his kind. You can now even rent games like Uno or similar and play them at the table with your friends, which makes your stay even nicer. I can't complain about the food and drinks either, the price-performance ratio is fair and there is something for everyone. So far I haven't ordered anything that I didn't like!

We wanted to have breakfast on February 5th, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. and had it via Groupon on February 3rd. Bought a voucher for two people. The date was confirmed and we set off on Wednesday morning. When we arrived at Glorius on time, the door was open but the restaurant was closed until 10:30 a.m. What's this, Groupon confirms the appointment, but the restaurant is closed, what's going on here. A really nice lady, she cleaned the restaurant, said something like that happens often. We were allowed to leave without having accomplished anything. The crown then sits on Groupon and writes that we have already booked an appointment and now we have to check in detail whether and how we can get our money back. It's surprising that you can even book appointments outside of business hours. Whoever is to blame here can only say that they don't receive any service and then please get your money back immediately. It doesn't matter who does what wrong and where, apart from all the trouble.

I was in town, wanted to go to the toilet and offered 2 euros (not a guest), they refused: "Then we would have to let everyone use the toilet." What's the problem if someone has to, asks nicely and is willing to pay money for it???

The saleswoman was nice but had to ask several times what we had ordered. 30 minutes wait for a cocoa and a coffee. She spoke almost no German and in the end she billed us incorrectly and we paid 10 euros too much. I would not recommend the employee. It wasn't nice.

Glorious Café - Bar - Restaurant is in an excellent location, right on the pedestrian zone. It gets very busy here, especially during the holidays, which gives the atmosphere a certain liveliness. The decor is stylish and cozy, ideal for a relaxing time with friends or family. The staff is very friendly and attentive, the service was quick even though the restaurant was full. The food was fresh and very tasty, I was particularly impressed by the tea with ginger and mint. A wonderful place to spend time both during the day and in the evening. I definitely recommend this cafe restaurant and will definitely come back!

An extremely good one-manufactory, well located in the city center. It starts with the guest's arrival, where an extremely friendly employee greets the customer. The selection and prices of the variety are fantastic and special requests are taken into account. Portions were more than sufficient, can you say the ice cream filled you up? If so, then all I can say is that my dinner is canceled today. The ambience is very modern and inviting, there are enough seats. A very friendly farewell and request for feedback shows quality awareness. Payment is easy and quick with a smile, which means a tip of an appropriate amount is a must! definitely recommended!!! We spent the day here with a World Cup match. They didn't expect it to be so busy. What we drank and ate was good. If we go to Dortmund again, we will definitely end up there again.

Extremely salty food!! and not customer oriented at all. I just left the restaurant without eating and was horrified. The staff wasn't willing to take the food back, but instead wanted to cook me the same dish again to go with the schnitzel, which was salty from start to finish, with pepper sauce and fries. Logically, this was no longer an option. I wanted a glass of water to balance out the salt bomb in my mouth, and this was also followed by long, tiring discussions and the request to the customer to order the water as still water. I then asked if I had to pay again for your poor cooking to get water and if that was serious. When I wanted to give the food back for the first time after two bites, the small glass of water came to me without any problems. However, after another 2 bites and the small glass of water, I was unable to eat any more of the food. I had to pay the bill in full and pointed out to the lady and the cook that it was in no way justified and, above all, that this behavior only shows BAD hosts. No accusation!

Food was good. Only the third waitress was able to take the order. We then waited 1.5 hours for the food. The order was completely mixed up. Reconciliation shots were offered. During the stay we ran out of large soft drinks, glasses and noodles.

More chairs than staff. After a long wait, the waitress came to tell us that they had placed an order hold of 20 minutes. After this, an order was taken 20 minutes later and we waited another half hour for it.

Never seen such unfriendly staff in my life

As a group of 6, we wanted to eat at this restaurant on a Saturday evening after the Turkey game. After we called the waiter ourselves after 30 minutes, our order was taken twice by 2 different waiters because the first employee apparently wasn't able to take the order correctly. It was already clear to us that we had nothing. We didn't have any special requests here, apart from the mushrooms, which should be left out of the pasta dish. We have emphasized this SEVERAL TIMES. After about 70 minutes the food arrived - with mushrooms of course. The other 2 dishes (3 other dishes were not brought - forgot??) that were brought to the table were cold. I complained about this immediately. After 5 minutes the waiter came back with the plate, put the plate in front of me with the words “Here you go Madame”. Here is the chef?! I picked out the mushrooms from the dish by hand, left them a bit undisturbed and gave me the plate back. (Of course there were still some mushrooms left in the food) I then asked the waiter again what the problem was. The language was probably a barrier here and communication was not possible. Insight was not shown here either. What if there was an allergy? In the end we paid for the drinks and left. Annoying when you want to eat something relaxed. Conclusion: I cannot recommend this restaurant under any circumstances, it would be better to go one store further. If you're up for very long waiting times, cold food, wrong dishes, incompetent and unfriendly staff, you should definitely go here.

We wanted to watch the game between Türkiye and Georgia. There were several televisions showing the game. We sat at the back of the store and actually had a good view. The air was extremely stuffy and the cigar smoke from outside came all the way in. The service was totally unfriendly, incompetent and completely ignored us for 20 minutes. Until one of us had to get up and go to a waiter. The game started and the internet was so bad that our TV was showing 5 minutes behind so we could hear from the others when a goal was scored. Order also arrived incorrectly because the waiter didn't know what to type. If you want to watch a game in this store, you can stay at home. Save yourself time and spend your money elsewhere. WE WILL NEVER ENTER THIS STORE AGAIN.

Booked the breakfast offer through Groupon. Two different bookings called again and asked them to be put at the same table. The employee was friendly and confirmed the booking and that you could sit at a table. Today we stood in front of a closed shop. After we had breakfast somewhere else, the shop was open. Are purely there to inquire and complain. We were then boldly asked if we wanted to have breakfast at 1:30 p.m. We said no because we would like the money back. The owner then made various offers, which were rejected because we didn't want to eat here anymore and we couldn't spontaneously plan when to eat there otherwise. Voucher would not be possible either. Groupon is to blame and had given incorrect opening times, but reservations were clearly visible in the restaurant system. Now we have to take care of the money ourselves. However, changed opening times were not posted anywhere. Food cannot be rated.

The ambience looked good, unfortunately we couldn't test the place. We had a reservation through Groupon and the store was closed. Although we made sure by phone on Thursday that it was open and we needed a table for 6. The lady on the phone said until Monday. If they had said it was closed, we would have oriented ourselves differently. When it opened at 12:30 we made our reservation. At first we apparently didn't know anything and called the boss, who then saw that we had a reservation. But unfortunately they didn't want to find a solution with us. I no longer need breakfast at 12:40 and we also had other appointments and with 6 people an appointment for next week cannot be implemented. I think it's not his problem that the times are given incorrectly. Now we have giant theaters with Groupon saying the reservation has expired and we can't cancel it and refund it. The last word has not yet been spoken. Very unfortunate!

We asked for an explanation and no proposed solutions such as a refund or a voucher were accepted. Now we can clarify everything about Groupon, although the reservation was discussed over the phone, the owner did not find an acceptable solution.

There's football roaring on the TV in the front and quiet music in the back, but you can hear both. What ambience should I perceive? Lemonade was syrup with fizz and lots of ice for €7. Plate of nachos and waffles (a topping €1.40 for the waffles) for just under €20, exorbitantly expensive for what little is of inferior quality on the plate. The women's toilets are dirty, smell like that too, the floor sticks, the toilet seat is broken and the flush is broken, only cold water for washing and the soap dispenser is rusting and almost falling off. At the same time, an employee sprayed himself with a lot of coconut perfume at the bar, which could quickly be smelled throughout the restaurant. And loudly made a video call. We observed that another customer had ordered a bottle of still water. Then wanted to cancel this and asked for tap water, which was refused. Unfortunately, the host is only friendly towards current customers. I came to the store because I really needed to go to the toilet. Unfortunately, despite multiple requests that it was urgent, I was turned away. Personally, I don't understand that. If there was a Christmas market or other big event outside and there were lots of people using the toilet, I could understand it. But to deny someone their needs on a normal weekday is, in my opinion, simply narrow-minded and unkind. Definitely will not visit this store again.

Had a three-course meal today. Bruschetta, schnitzel, cheesecake. The food was super tasty and well prepared. All the waitresses were nice, friendly, attentive and accommodating. The atmosphere is very inviting and cozy. Prices absolutely great. We will be back definitely.
