Gio‘s Homemade Georgian Food in Berlin

Very nice and friendly hospitality and great ambience. The food and wine are very, very tasty, I have tried several dishes so far and I am thrilled and highly recommend this restaurant!

Khinkali with mushrooms: 1/5, strange dough, small. Pkhali: 2/5, very small percent of nuts - just cutted beetroots. A bit expensive, not authentic georgian.

We went to this cosy restaurant last night and had amazing and absolutely clearly homemade food and great wine. Lovely atmosphere.

The food was nicely presented, but tasted quite ordinary. I had red beans. I would have liked some bread with it. I thought that would be added, but I probably would have had to order it separately. The service was very attentive and quick.

We had 3 different dishes. We rated them as 2/10 maximum. For me it was the worst khinkali ever had and the most expensive. Felt very heavy in my stomach afterwards.

Delicious food, polite staff and a relaxing environment for a quiet dinner. We had a baked chicken soup with garlic sauce and a flan with goat cheese and egg. Totally recommended

Pleasant travel discovery here in Berlin, place open for 3 weeks, beautiful and welcoming. Top food and service, highly recommended for those who want to eat Georgian or in any case eat ethnic here in Berlin. I recommend the hot dishes, and the delicious beer! Very honest prices for the service and food offered.

Great food, terrible Service. No card payment only Cash. Dishes were brought 5 minutes apart from each other so when my fiancé got her food mine was already cold. Waitress forgot part of the order, seemed to be more interested in chatting with family members, then working. Waited 5 minutes to pay my bill in a nearly empty restaurant. The food tasted decent.

I had the great pleasure of visiting the newly opened Georgian restaurant Gio’s Homemade Food and I absolutely love it. As soon as you enter the restaurant you can feel the warm atmosphere that is typical of Georgian hospitality. The furnishings are tastefully and lovingly designed - a perfect mix of traditional charm and modern style. The menu is a real highlight: everything was represented, from classics such as khinkali (filled dumplings) and khachapuri (delicious cheese bread) to finely balanced meat and vegetable dishes. Particularly worth mentioning is the selection of Georgian wines, which ideally complement the meal. The service was impeccable: friendly, attentive and with a smile that immediately welcomed guests. The staff take the time to explain the dishes and give great recommendations if you can't decide. Gio’s homemade Georgian Food is not just a restaurant, but a culinary journey to Georgia that I can only recommend to everyone. Cozy but extremely slow and not so professional and food was actually different to all other reviews not good unfortunately..

On a cold January day, a cold starter with cold rice and chilled lemonade or water in a rather cool, poorly heated dining room wasn't quite right. The fact that it was a cold starter was not stated on the menu (exclusively the one on the left in the photos) and was not explained by the waiter. There was no tea either, only cold drinks, at least the rice could be warmed up a bit. But it was probably just bad luck with the selection, the other things including pasta look delicious and warm.

We were served a boat and a clay pot filled with eggplant and potatoes and it was a perfect start to the evening.

Very successful reopening! Price/performance unbeatable, food fantastic, especially the Khatchipuri. Gladly again, highly recommended.

Couldn't tell u much about the food even if my life depended on it. Arrived at the establishment at 18:30, maps said that it's opened, when in reality it wasn't. I called the stated number to ask if they are even opened today - got the answer that they are. After my reply that I'm outside of their door and it's anything, but open - woman on the phone said that her colleague be there in 5 minutes. I ended up waiting for 20 minutes only for nobody to arrive. Thanks for the "service", that's not how I imagined my birthday

Great restaurant despite the Kottis

Wow, seriously! Probably the best Georgian food outside of Georgia I've eaten in years. Meet khinkali were super juicy and dough was just the right thickness, vegan mushroom khinkali are also absolutely best. Just right amount of black pepper and spices to make it taste delicious but at the same time show the taste of mushrooms. Khachapuri dough was just right and cheese with butter and egg yolk is a real deal, no compromises with cheese substitution here, a real Georgian cheese. I have an impression that every single dish here is perfectly balanced and I simply cannot express how much I recommend that place.

Great little place! We enjoyed lunch there and the menu offers all the Georgian classics. Everything was really tasty, better than in other Georgian restaurants. Will definitely come back!

We wanted to go here for dinner but aborted mission after seeing groups of shady people around the area. Definitely not for the faint of hearts, especially considering that most seats are outside.

Excellent food. Small Georgian take away with the possibility of eating at the table. There is a single table inside and a few tables outside. The cook is friendly even if she doesn't speak English. Poorly maintained external environment.

There were three of us there yesterday. A maximum of three people can sit inside. Unfortunately, there were no more Khinkali. Otherwise the food was okay, the sophistication was missing. Instead of coriander, the dishes were sprinkled with parsley. Khachapuri is freshly baked. The area is very unpleasant. Wouldn't go there again. Maybe it's better to take the food with you

Best khinkali and khachapuri, you can’t resist eating it burning hot right from the kitchen. Everything is freshly made, no semis. A few tables in the street give the spot it’s special atmosphere. Strongly recommend, 2 Georgian women working there are so friendly and nice!

Wohlfühlessen, das satt macht! 🍲Die Speisen sind gut gewürzt und intensiv im Geschmack. Hier kommt sogar wirklich Schärfe auf, die man oft vermisst. Das Beilagenbrot hat Schimmel gehabt (grüne Flecken), aber da hätte man bei Bedarf bestimmt auch Neues bekommen können.

Chinkali (similar to dumplings or manti) was really delicious! Recommended way of eating: holding with hands from its knob, be careful with the hot liquid inside. Size is big for each but 3 might not be enough, two portions would be better. Imeruli was okay.

For what it is, I give them 5 stars. Very simple place. No luxury and fanciness just sweet staff, tasty authentic georgian food on basic café furniture. Dishes in aug 2023 was between 7-12€. For 2 normal-eating women, I recommend sharing 3 dishes to get very full. Only minus was that they didn't have a toilet and we have to go to the bar next door. Everything else felt relaxed, simple and I don't really have anything bad to say.

Disappointed and expected more given the high rating and the other reviews. The food was good but it’s quite expensive (25€ for the dishes + 3 dumplings), the staff is not welcoming, cash only, the area is quite terrible (lots of drug addicts just in front), and both my wife and I got light food poisoning.

Das Essen war lecker und Preis/Leistungsverhältnis gut. Das Restaurant ist allerdings nicht besonders schön gelegen, da sich dort die Drogenszene vom Kottbusser Tor umhertreibt. Der Service ist nett.

The food was amazing! Just as I remembered from my holiday in Georgia. They also have the green Estragon drink. I would reccomend!

Cozy, friendly restaurant with delicious Georgian food! I would suggest ordering several dishes to share with a group of friends.

Chachapuri waren sehr lecker, aber Chinkalli und Vorspeisen waren suboptimal; ein zweites Mal wuerde nicht mehr hingehen.

Verglichen mit anderen georgischen Restaurants in Berlin leider eine Enttäuschung. Portionen sind sehr klein und dafür die Gerichte sehrb sehr teuer. Ambiente ist gleich 0, da das Restaurant in einer komplett versifften und vermüllten Seitenstraße liegt. Man genießt einen "wundervollen" Blick auf übervolle Mülleimer. Zudem gibt es keine Toilette. (Speisewirtschaften ohne Toilettenräume sind im Übrigen nach deutschem Recht nicht gestattet.) Das Essen war geschmacklich gut, bloß die Preis-Leistung stimmt nicht. Wäre es ein bloßer Imbiss mit Imbisspreisen, okay. Aber so passt der Preis leider absolut nicht zu dem, was man geboten bekommt. Service freundlich, aber sehr langsam. Vorspeise wurde erst etwa 10 Minuten nach den Hauptspeisen an den Tisch gebracht. Wer lecker georgisch essen möchte, dem würde ich andere Lokale in Berlin deutlich mehr empfehlen als dieses.

Super delicious food! We had khinkali, eggplant with walnut paste, and the cheese filled bread with some lovely wine. It was ready very quickly and had amazing flavor. This is definitely my favorite Georgian place! The woman running the place was also super friendly and sweet. We had a nice conversation. I can’t wait to go back!

Very small two table place. Food is very mediocre compared to authentic Georgian cuisine. We’ll never be back.
