The restaurant is only operated temporarily, which must be credited to a woman's own initiative so that a meeting place remains in the town. My friend, a native of Birkenfeld, and I are doing everything we can to keep things going. Morning pints on Sundays are mandatory. And others are also invited. Stop by if you're in the area.

Dieses Restaurant kenne ich nun schon 50 Jahre. Es gibt immer gutes und günstiges Essen. Wir hatten schon sehr viele Feiern dort. Immer nett und freundlich.

Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 21In August 2021, we stopped by the Wacholderschänke on short notice...what a surprise. Luckily, we got a seat and then enjoyed the food!!! The evening was so lovely that we'll be back with friends. Thank you very much! Update - On June 17, 2022, we went to the Irish evening. Great music, as always, delicious food, and we even got to smoke a nice cigar from the in-house humidor. We'll be back!!! On September 23, 2022, we had another meal with friends...As before, the food is simply amazing! Since the live band was at the market that evening (Hildburghausen Lights Up), Mr. Traut spontaneously played some piano music for us to sing along to. What great service. We'll be back! After a long enforced break, we returned on Friday, September 1, 2023. What can I say, still top-notch dining!!! Great service, absolutely delicious food, and the live music, unbeatable. Many thanks to Ms. Schmidt and her colleagues. See you soon... (Many greetings to Peter too) Update: On August 2, 2024, we were with friends for a very nice evening... top-notch service, the chef comes through the "rows" and asks about the quality... I think that's nice. We'll definitely be back!!!! Update: We were there again on June 6, 2025 for the music evening... Many thanks to the four musicians, many songs from our youth... what a feast for the ears, the great food almost became secondary. We'll definitely be back, see you at the Sonneberg "Spiellust" at the latest.

Am SandbergBeautifully located opposite the animal enclosure and by ponds and gardens. You can sit inside or outside. Good, home-style food with a fairly large selection (more than ten main courses). Friendly staff, fast service. And today, on a Saturday afternoon, it was pretty much the only restaurant open within a 20-kilometer radius. Parking is available in the courtyard.
