Gaststätte "Zum Wingert" in Bad Homburg v.d.Höhe

It wasn't our first time there, and this time—unfortunately—we were more than disappointed. The garden was busy, but we found two nice seats at a table already occupied. After about 15 minutes, the waiter came and took our order; the drinks arrived after another 15 minutes. Only the food we ordered took a terribly long time to arrive: after repeated inquiries and an incredible 50 minutes! It was finally brought to our table. When paying, we complained about the unreasonable wait. The waiter's response: "At McDonald's, you have to wait 10-20 minutes, too." Aside from the fact that this response was completely off the mark, her boss also came along. Instead of apologizing for the wait for our food, he simply pointed out that we could see they were busy and therefore he wouldn't accept our complaint. If we had been informed when we placed our order that the food would take so long, we would at least have known and been able to prepare for it. Even a good meal can be ruined by bad service...

Beautiful restaurant in the pedestrian zone, with a very nice ambience, varied menu and great service

The restaurant looked a bit run-down from the outside. Walking in, we noticed that nothing had been renovated since the 70s, but we were really hungry, so we sat down. The drinks came quickly, as no one seemed to be doing anything. (Three employees were standing together at the bar when we walked in.) The apple wine wasn't tasty, and we had to order water separately for the sauerkraut. When the schnitzel arrived, we were each given a plate with only two schnitzels. When we asked if they came with fries, the waitress snapped, "Sure, if only I had four arms!" The fries arrived, but we had to order ketchup/mayo separately (at no extra cost). The schnitzel tasted a 3/10. We left immediately after eating; an hour later, we felt extremely sick and our stomachs were churning.

We celebrated our company summer party there. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were extremely friendly and dedicated, and the food was absolutely delicious. I'll definitely go there privately sometime. 👍
