Es gibt im badischen/hessischen Odenwald wenig Möglichkeiten im Wald einzukehren. Die Steigkopf Hütte ist eine Möglichkeit. Schön gelegen. Große Auswahl an Speisen. Kühle Getränke. Guter Service. Nur!!! Der Handkäse mit Musik war nix. Der war so hard. Den konnte ich mit dem Messer 🔪 kaum schneiden. Ein Handkäs muss durch sein. Weich sein. Oder?? Die Musik war auch nicht reichlich. 😡

Im Wald gelegen, viele Parkmöglichkeiten und gute Zufahrt, gutes Essen und netter Chef. Gerne wieder!

Kochkäseschnitzel, gute Bratkartoffel und eine gute Portion Salat dazu.

Ich habe gestern meinen 70. Geburtstag dort im Nebenraum gefeiert. Heute kamen von meinen Gästen nur positive Nachrichten über das Essen und den Service. Vielen Dank dafür dem Team Steigkopf. 🙋‍♂️☕️🥂 Jürgen Werner

Leckerer Koch- und Handkäse. Dazu noch einen Apfelwein. Uriges Ambiente und das Personal ist sehr nett.

Sehr leckeres Essen. Service ist super. Ambiente ist klein fein gemütlich. Preise sind normal. Andere Gaststätten sind teurer. Angrenzender Wanderweg läd zum Wandern ein. Immer wieder gern dort.

Waren mit 8 Personen zum Abendessen dort, sehr gutes und ausreichendes Essen. Aufmerksame Bedienung. Essen kam zeitgleich für alle.

Wir fanden das Lokal in früheren Jahren immer sehr gut und waren öfter dort essen. Leider hat die Qualität der Speisen deutlich abgenommen. Gerade die Paradedisziplin Schnitzel könnte man fast mit einer Schuhsohle vergleichen. Dieses Mal hatte ich mir einen Salat mit Schnitzelstreifen bestellt. Der Salat war zwar riesig bestand aber aus fertig vorgeschnittenem Blattsalat, darunter habe ich noch fertigen Kraut- und Karottensalat gefunden. Der Preis von knapp 16 € ist dafür wirklich unfassbar hoch. Ein weiteres Getränk war dann leider auch nicht mehr drin, da wir uns auf dem Steigkopf scheinbar noch im letzten Jahrhundert befinden und Kartenzahlung erst ab 10 € möglich ist.

Samstag Mittag, es gab als Special 1/2 Hähnchen Jeden Samstag gibt es ein Special Aber auch sonst eine umfangreiche Speisekarte Im Aussenbereich ist Selbstbedienung. Daher auch die Wertung mit nur 3 Sternen für Service. Getränke bekommt man sofort mit. Fürs Essen gibt es einen Pager(?)- also man wird da still zur Essensausgabe gerufen. Absolut fair, gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis

Waren zum 1.Mal hier,tolle Lokation,Preislich ok,hatte das Zwiebelschnitzel mit Kroketten, Soße war ein Gedicht,Kroketten fand ich nicht so gut,da irgendwelche Kräuter( Oregano?)drin,Portionen könnten etwas größer sein. Ansonsten weiter zu Empfehlen

Aussicht und Lage super. Essen leider nix. Schnitzel war fettig, mit Sehnen durchzogen. Kochkäse leider geschmacklos. Pommes waren aber geil. Bedienung sehr freundlich, Selbstbedienung wenn man draussen isst. Cordon Bleu hatte so gut wie kein käse drin. Preise deutlich zu hoch.

Abzug beim Service da nur Selbstbedienung. Personal aber sehr freundlich und das Essen ist sehr gut und preislich angemessen.

Das Essen war super lecker.Der Service Klasse. Wir hatten alle recht zügig unser Essen obwohl wir fast 40 Personen waren. Ich hatte ein Rentner Schnitzel mit Pommes und Salat. Die Portion war trotzdem reichlich. Die Preise fürs Essen sind sehr angenehm. Parksituation für so viele Gäste ist ein bisschen schwierig, aber dafür kann natürlich der wird nichts. Auch der Weg dorthin, durch den wald, ist ein bisschen abenteuerlich.. aber man kann sehr gut spazieren gehen und dann einkehren.

Ein Restaurant das sehr lecker ist und für seine Aussicht bekannt ist . Hier gibt es für groß und klein etwas. Die Service Organisation ist so umständlich, wir waren eine Gruppe von 11 Person und mit dem auswählen und fenster (essen abholen ) Prinzip war das ganze sehr umständlich. Hier ist vielleicht ein wenig Handlungsbedarf das es echt sehr umständlich ist . Parkmöglichkeiten gibt es genug , ebenso gibt es für Sie kleinen ein Spielplatz.

Das Ambiente ist sehr schön, das Essen war auch gut, aber die Wartezeiten waren nicht OK. Wir haben 13:05 bestellt und um 15:20 unser Essen bekommen. Es waren zwei Kommunionsfeiern da, die bedient wurden, für alle anderen war Selbstbedienung. Dadurch müssten wir teilweise außer bis zu zwanzig Minuten am Bestellfenster warten bis jemand unsere Bestellung aufnehmen konnte. Das Personal kann da nichts für, sie blieben auch immer freundlich. Aber die Planung war halt echt schlecht. Wenn die Küche nur für 50 Personen gleichzeitig reicht, dann kann man halt keine 200 Sitzplätze anbieten. Und wenn zwei große Gruppen bedient werden sollen, dann muss mehr Personal her. So dass die anderen Gäste wenigstens ihre Bestellungen aufgeben können.

War das erste Mal seit Jahren wieder im Steigkopf, früher bin ich oft hin spaziert, da die Lage im Wald sehr schön und nicht zu weit von mir entfernt ist. Leider hat sich das Lokal, zumindest was das Essen angeht, eher negativ entwickelt. Die Räumlichkeiten sind schön modernisiert, aus der Außenbereich ist schön mit dem Ausblick und der Lage am Waldrand. Leider bekommt man aber mittlerweile wenig für sein Geld. Ich hatte das Wochenedangebot, das Kesselgulasch, und habe knapp 18€ dafür bezahlt. Leider war die Portion so klein, dass ich nochmal eine genauso große Portion gebraucht hätte, um satt zu werden. Nichtmal eine ganze Handvoll Spätzle und 5 Fleischstückchen. Ich habe noch nie erlebt, dass ich in Restaurant von einer normalen portion nicht satt werde. Wenigstens war es geschmacklich gut. Die Bedienung war neutral, weder besonders freundlich noch unfreundlich, es war aber auch viel los. Auf das Essen musste man lange warten, bei einer Bestellung gab es einen Fehler und die Reaktion auf den Hinweis war dann doch eher genervt. Leider lohnt es sich nicht mehr zu kommen, damals war ich gerne dort.

Nettes Ausflugsziel mitten im Odenwald. Schön gelegen, mit dem Auto und zu Fuß gut zu erreichen. Gute Hausmannskost, und andere leckere Gerichte. Preis Leistung ist völlig in Ordnung. Sehr empfehlenswert

Guten Tag, Wir waren vor zwei Wochen dort mit einem Urlaubsgast. Die Bedienung hat ein ganz schön gleichgültiges und freundlicher Gesicht gezogen. Mein Cordonbleu war zu lange in der Fritteuse und trocken. Warum nicht einfach im der Pfanne braten. In meinem Salat und auf meinem Teller war jeweils ein Haar das definitiv nicht von mir war. Ob wir noch was trinken wollen, wurde auch nicht gefragt. Warum schon öfter dort , meistens draußen. Werden wohl nicht mehr kommen und dort essen. Wir waren 5 Personen. Wirklich schade!

Schönes Ausflugsziel auf einer Wanderung.

Waren jetzt schon mehrmals vor Ort, essen spitze und das Ambiente top, echt schön gelegen und ruhig, der Service ist sehr freundlich! Klare Empfehlung, wir würden wieder kommen.

Die Hütte innen ist wirklich schön gemacht. Hat was von einer Hütte in den Bergen. Draussen gibt es einen kleinen Spielplatz und Parkmöglichkeiten. Der äußere Sitzbereich sieht auch einladend aus. Bedienungen wirkte etwas lustlos und durcheinander. Die Brühe der Flädlesuppe schmeckte leider recht fad, Spätzle komplett geschmacklos, dunkle Soße zum Schnitzel klumpig (Tütenware) und ebenfalls eher geschmacksneutral. Erwachsenen Portion beim Schnitzel sehr überschaubar und Schnitzel eher zäh. Alles in allem leider kein WowEffekt.

Die Gaststätte Zum Steigkopf ist für uns seit Jahren ein tolles Ausflugsziel. Wir steuern sie oft von Bonsweiher aus zu Fuß oder mit dem Fahrrad an – die Strecke dorthin ist schon für sich ein kleiner Genuss. Oben angekommen wird man mit einer richtig gemütlichen Atmosphäre belohnt. Das Essen ist lecker, die Portionen sind gut und der Service immer freundlich. Besonders schön ist es draußen im Sommer, wenn man nach dem Anstieg eine Pause einlegt. Ein Ort, zu dem wir immer wieder gern zurückkommen.

Keine Bewertung möglich. Leider sämtliche Sitzplätze bis 16 Uhr reserviert. Also: reservieren !!!!

Die Wanderung zum Steigkopf ist sehr schön und auch vor Ort ist es mit vielen Sitzplätzen in der Sonne und Spielplatz toll. Allerdings hatten wir nach über 1,5 Stunden immernoch kein Essen, obwohl wir mehrfach Bescheid gegeben haben, dass wir einen Zug nehmen müssen.

Wir waren heute zur späteren Mittagszeit im Aussenbereich essen, hier besteht Selbstbedienung. Wir haben ca. eine halbe Stunde angestanden um die Bestellung abzugeben, das war an einem sonnigen Frühlingstag o.k. Getränke bekommt dann kurzfristig. Auf das Essen haben wir dann eineinhalb Stunden gewartet. Da waren die Getränke längst aufgebraucht. Theoretisch hätten wir uns dann erneut anstellen müssen, die Schlange war aber noch länger. Wir haben uns dann zum Essen rein gesetzt weil es draußen nach eineinhalb Stunden zu kalt wurde. Drinnen sahen wir, dass das Personal alles selbst machen musste, einschenken, austragen, abkassieren, die Aussentheke bedienen, wir hätten gerne von den leckeren Trockenwürsten mitgenommen, aber bei dem zu Recht abgehetzten Personal, vermieden wir den zusätzlichen Kontakt. Ich würde mir wünschen, der Betreiber versteht diese Bewertung konstruktiv, weil geschmeckt hat es uns und die Atmosphäre rein räumlich ist sehr schön.

Hackbraten mit Bratkartoffeln sehr lecker, Käsekuchen super, Kochkäse/Handkästeller ein Witz mit 2 halben Brotscheiben. Service unfreundlich, haben den Beruf verfehlt. Ambiente rustikal bzw. Im Anbau modern.

Die warmen Suppen und der heiße Tee waren nach dem Wintersturm draußen sehr willkommen.

Urige Hütte, geiles Essen, schnelle und freundliche Mitarbeiter. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis spitze. Der Wildburger mit Pommes und Hausgemachter Sauce für 18,60 € war ein Traum

Gut bürgerliche Küche und ein netter Service

Die Heizstrahler wurden leider nicht angemacht obwohl es mehreren Leuten kalt war. Man sagte uns es sei zu teuer diese anzumachen. Das Essen war leider sehr wenig für diese Preise und man musste trotz Selbstbedienung eine Ewigkeit warten. Die Bedienung an der Ausgabe war super unfreundlich und hatte gar keinen Bock. Essen wurde trotz Pieper vergessen und man musste ständig nachfragen. Wir gehen sicher nicht mehr dorthin.

The food is very good. In summer, you can sit outside comfortably and sheltered under large parasols. The staff are very friendly. Prices are reasonable.

Group of 40 people in the annex! Service was a disaster – very unfriendly and overwhelmed! The food was mediocre at best! The promised patio heaters weren't set up despite several requests! When I asked about them, I was snapped at, told how I expected that, that a gas cylinder costs 80 euros, and who would pay that! It's clear the owner is complacent and doesn't need the business anymore! We used to be regulars, but that's completely over after today!!

Unfortunately, the time management was terrible. The service was awful and unfriendly. After waiting 15 minutes at the self-service window, we were finally allowed to place our order. Whenever we inquired, we kept getting the same answer: it will take a moment... A real shame.

We're currently here with a group of almost 40 people. When we made the reservation, we were told we could sit outside in a kind of "barn/extension" which we could heat with patio heaters. After asking five times if someone could turn them on and no one came, we asked again if we could turn them on ourselves. "Well, go ahead and do it then," was the response. Both heaters ran out of gas, and when we asked about refilling the gas, the answer was, "Gas is expensive, it costs €80. How do you expect us to manage that? Who's going to pay for it?" Initially, we were told we'd be served outside; the waiter came to us once, but otherwise it was self-service. We've been here several times before, and it's always been great, but this will be the last time for a while. The staff doesn't seem to enjoy their jobs either; friendliness is definitely not their strong suit.

Super delicious food and the value for money is amazing!!! I'd give the rump steak a 12/10, and the schnitzels are also perfect. You can tell the meat is locally sourced. It's great that there are still restaurants like this around.

A rustic restaurant in the forest with minor organizational issues. The food is home-style to simple. The hosts are friendly, and the location is beautiful.

The rump steaks are absolutely amazing, 10/10 value for money – the herb butter is definitely homemade and incredibly aromatic! The bread served with it (presumably sourdough) was extremely good, moist inside and crispy crust. All in all, especially considering the beautiful hiking trails, I highly recommend a visit.

We ate here after a baptism. The food was almost a disgrace. The salad was from a packet and tasted incredibly bitter. The chicken skin had a strange texture and was extremely greasy. The fries tasted of old grease. Absolutely not recommended!

We were out hiking in the Odenwald with the whole family – including a school-age child and a toddler. The day began with a leisurely walk along the mountain. The path is pleasant, offers beautiful nature, and plenty of opportunities for children to run around. Afterwards, we stopped at the restaurant. There are plenty of outdoor seating options, so you can relax even in good weather. Food is ordered and picked up directly at the restaurant – despite the high demand, our meal was ready within 20 minutes. It tasted really good and was freshly prepared. A particularly nice feature: next to the restaurant is a playground where you can always keep an eye on the children while you sit back and relax. Parking is a bit more difficult. There are only a few spaces directly at the top of the mountain. If you can't find a spot, you have to park a little further down and walk a bit. This isn't a problem during the day, but in the evening, the path through the forest in the dark without lighting can be a bit arduous. All in all, we are very satisfied. We've been coming here regularly for over 25 years—now in the third generation. For us, it's always a wonderful family outing, combining tradition with fond memories.

I spent a wonderful evening here, with delicious local food. The event with DJ Vossi was well-organized. The fire bowls and outdoor seating made it feel warm and cozy. I was completely satisfied. I also stopped by after a hike, but it's busy then, and the wait for food is a bit longer.

The food sucked. There is no service because it’s a self service kind of thing. I spent 18 euros on a “cordon bleu” schnitzel and I kid you not, I’ve had better cordon bleu frozen from a box from the grocery store. the croquettes they charge you 4 euro for I didn’t even eat them they were dry as hell. My wife had the hardest schnitzel we’ve ever had in all of Germany she didn’t even eat half of it because she couldn’t even cut the thing with the knife. So if you want to throw away your money on crappy food go for it. It was so bad we left and went to another restaurant so we could have some good German food.

Great, this brings back memories of our Alpine vacation. The food was good, the restaurant is cozy and modern, and the service was friendly – ​​except for one lady who was as cheerful as twenty days of rain. So, for the first time, we didn't tip and deducted one star. Card payments accepted for a minimum of €10.

We've enjoyed going here for years, especially with the kids, as they can play and romp around freely in the wonderful outdoor area. Unfortunately, the prices seem to have increased and the portion sizes have decreased, which unfortunately doesn't reflect the quality. Since this is a self-service restaurant, I can't accept the argument about rising personnel costs here either. Nevertheless, it's recommended for families who don't have to watch every penny. We'll still come, but less often.

Beautifully located. However, the service was abysmal. It was really busy, but after waiting for an hour, my husband asked if our food had been forgotten. An employee replied, "This isn't McDonald's." I then asked the manager for a quick chat and told him that it was absolutely outrageous to treat guests like this. The lady, who was so abusive, stood there and interrupted me several times... There was no sign of any understanding. The manager herself seemed a bit overwhelmed by the situation and simply stated that it was very busy. The wait is one thing, but the rude treatment of guests is another. This lady is completely unsuitable for the restaurant industry; perhaps some training in appropriate behavior would help. The food was very good, but based on this experience, we will be moving our annual family gatherings elsewhere.

Despite the large crowds and the self-service, everything was well organized and the food was good.

A great restaurant for two-legged and four-legged friends. Nice and friendly staff. Great selection of food and drinks. The food was delicious and prepared quickly. There's a children's playground and a large lawn for playing and running around. Water bowls for the four-legged friends are also available. Great paths for walking and hiking. You can park right next to the restaurant and walk a circular route, or you can park in a nearby parking lot and then walk there. We will definitely be back.

We were at Steigkopf to celebrate a graduation and wanted to make a reservation in advance. We're still waiting for a response. When we called, we received confirmation that we'd already been booked, but a confirmation would have been helpful. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either; however, the service was really unfriendly. It's a shame—we used to enjoy eating here.

Great location for hearty Odenwald food

The restaurant is located in the middle of the forest. There's a large playground, which is perfect for families with children. There are plenty of shaded spots, which makes the place very attractive in high temperatures. The portions are huge, and I have to honestly say, I haven't had such a delicious meal in a long time!!! I had meatloaf with fried potatoes and a small side salad, and it was simply fantastic! Many thanks to the entire team! You're amazing♡

In summer, there's self-service. The food is inexpensive and delicious. It's an ideal destination for cycling tours.

Parking in front of the restaurant. I visited the outdoor dining area. Self-service at the counter. The food was good (Wiener Schnitzel Jäger style with bread). Surprisingly, it wasn't too crowded. It's usually busy on Sundays.

A beautiful hiking hut with self-service food and drinks, and a large playground for children. Benches and tables with sun and rain protection. Seating is also available inside the restaurant.

The view is great, you can go for a walk and have a drink there, but the food here is not our cup of tea

The restaurant of my childhood. Every time you ordered, you'd go play in the woods and climb the hills. The food was always great, the service incredibly friendly, you could order anything you wanted, and you were never disappointed. The view over the entire valley was also beautiful.

The location is really nice - in the middle of the forest and with a playground, which is ideal for families with children. However, on the Sunday we visited, it was very busy and we had to wait over an hour (1 hour and 20 minutes) for our food. The quality of the food was okay, but not outstanding - but the prices are on the higher side.

Essen super, Ambiente charmant-rustikal. Viel Platz für eventuelle Kinder. Service überwiegend überzeugend, nur eine Ausnahme (40+, glatzköpfig, bärtig, viele Tattoos): schien desorientiert und umtriebig, war unhöflich zu den Kindern. Sonst alles empfehlenswert!
