Alte Schmuckerstube in Heppenheim (Bergstraße)

We ate there on November 2nd, 2025, with a group of eight. The decor and the restaurant have a certain charm, reminiscent of the 70s. The landlady was quick and friendly, the food was tasty, the drinks were chilled, and with "dessert" we even got a free round of spirits – thank you! It's not cheap anymore, like everywhere else. Schnitzel, fries, and salad cost €18.50, a normal price; there are even cheaper options. A small side salad at €5 is already on the pricier side, as is a 0.3l Coke at €3.60. Nevertheless, if you want to experience something different and can afford to pay a reasonable price, you should visit the old Schmuckerstube.

We were there on October 17th with eight people. We had heard about this restaurant in the residential area before and were impressed. Yes, the decor (still) reflects the Demark era, but everything was/is superbly clean. The reservation, the reception, and the service can only be described as excellent. The freshly prepared dishes were superbly seasoned, and... as a special treat, they served a hot Julischka (spicy sausage). We all felt right at home. Ha, and all this at perfectly normal restaurant prices, WITHOUT a tourist surcharge.

The kids loved the homemade nuggets. The half chicken with fried potatoes was excellent. We'll be happy to order again!

Always takeaway only. Super tasty, very friendly service, but I wouldn't sit down. The atmosphere is strange.

We read such great reviews about the restaurant that we decided it was our destination for yesterday. A quick look at Google Maps showed that it was open all day. 😋👍 After a long walk to the restaurant, we couldn't express our disappointment when we saw the sign outside saying "Closed for Holidays." I can't say who's responsible for this—whether it's the owner or Google—but it's simply unacceptable in this day and age.

A quaint pub with a largely original interior from the time. Very friendly and fast service. Home-style dishes, a well-arranged menu, plenty of convenience foods, and deep-fried items. To finish, we'll serve you an ouzo on the house.

Rustic old restaurant near the train station. We received a warm, friendly welcome with a smile on our faces. Our drinks arrived quickly, even though it was hot outside. The landlady turned on the air conditioning (which was apparently a bit overwhelmed). Small menu with a large selection of schnitzels, all hand-pounded by the chef, who also came out to serve them. Unfortunately, one of the eight dishes was missing, but that was quickly replaced. All plates were empty, nothing left over. Very tasty, juicy, no artificial flavor enhancers. The price was perfectly reasonable (€12 schnitzel + €4 side + €5 salad), but cash ONLY, no menu. The restrooms are also rustic but clean. Conclusion: Recommended!

The food tasted good, but the portion size was more like a child's plate. We weren't full.

One of the few "residential area restaurants" still in existence. Locals from the immediate area meet here for a drink. Skat is still being played at the next table. The food is honest, German home cooking at reasonable prices. The landlady looks after her guests discreetly and thoughtfully. We enjoy stopping here whenever we're in Heppenheim. The Schmuckerstube is wonderful, the asparagus with schnitzel and boiled potatoes was fantastic, the friendly service was also great today, we'll be back.

I came here with my family to try proper German food for the first time and wow I was amazed. The food, 10/10 check the photos the portions were filling and the prices were good!! The restaurant is really authentic and traditional german. The food, where do I start wow. We tried the Schnitzel both bork and chicken and it was amazing🍻🍻, tender juicy and full of flavour! I really recommend the Schnitzel with eggs and bacon. The egg was the one that suprised me it was natural and full of colour, BIO eggs not like those supermarket yellow ones. 10/10 I'll come back if given the chance. Keep it up guys it was truly a good experience my parents really enjoyed it!!

I would call it “economics.” The service was very friendly and you were served quickly. We had half a chicken and a lumberjack schnitzel with fried potatoes and a side salad and it was all very tasty and freshly prepared. It was a simple but cozy atmosphere. Value for money was very good!

Ordered something to take away today.....and it was subpar and it got worse every time I went there...the fries were a complete disaster, only felt like they were fried...and the schnitzel was hard, dry, not good... .and the chicken is fatty.... It used to be great with the old owner...the fries were a dream...schnitzel and chicken, world class... But no longer recommended, it's a shame...

This is still an original restaurant as we know it from the past and miss it today! Down-to-earth food and a draft beer made everyone happy. If you want modern design, you should go to another restaurant or have something built - the last restaurant where you can still pick up chicken is in Heppenheim, hopefully you'll stay with us for a long time!

At Hashima in the old jewelry room you are always warmly welcomed and served. A really nice and rustic little room with an incredibly loving innkeeper, as it should be. What Peter conjures up in the kitchen is always a pleasure. Whether classic, home-style, dishes or a variety of loving creations, they are always a poem. The prices are really reasonable for the quality and freshness that you get here every time. A regular restaurant like you want!

Having been directed here by Google, we were not disappointed. Very friendly service that welcomed us and our dog. The food was very good and plentiful. The price for this was very cheap. Everything was clean, even the toilets were clean. Hearty room that we would love to come back to when we are in the area again. Thanks for the good food and friendly service! There are enough parking spaces on the streets without having to walk far.

We were here with a group and I found the “corner pub with bar” ambience really great. I don't like this newfangled loud and uncomfortable cantina style. DS food and service were great and most importantly, it was affordable. Thank you very much for that 😊

Appetizers were great, but the Odenwaelder Kochkaeseschnitzel (the reason we went there, [thru inexpensive and big, with lots of cheese wasn'tthat great... Sides & good tasting salad with yogurt dressing cost extra, but each main came with 3 thin slices of onion bread, which tasted great. The problem we had with the Schnitzel was that the breading overpowered the taste of the meat & the kochkaese, which by itself was excellent.

Wir waren heute (17.12) zum ersten Mal in der alten Schmuckerstube und waren zufrieden. Hier einzutreten hat etwas von "nach Hause kommen". Die Gaststätte war uns von mehreren Personen empfohlen worden. Vor allem wegen der guten Schnitzel, des guten Preis- Leistungsverhältnisses und des aufmerksamen Service' Meine Frau und ich bestellten ein Jägerschnitzel mit Pilzen plus Salat und ein Zwiebelschnitzel mit Sauce und Pommes. Vorab gabs ein Erbsensüppchen. Alle Speisen haben gut gemundet, die Portionen waren gut dimensioniert. Und die Wartezeit angenehm gering. Was uns ein wenig störte: Man schaut zunächst auf die Preise und denkt: "Hoppla,hier ist die Zeit stehen geblieben, so günstig,ist ja voll der Hammer.." Als wir dann die Speisekarte weiter studierten merkten wir dann, dass es sich beim Preis für das Schnitzel um den REINEN Preis handelt,alle Beilagen-Sauce,Pommes,Salat-müssen zusätzlich bezahlt werden,sodass ich,wenn ich mich Recht erinnere bei meinem Schnitzel 'all inklusive' bei 16.30€ landete.Durchaus also kein Schnäppchen sd normales Preisniveau. Die Qualität des Essens jedoch passte und die Wirtin war sehr freundlich und immer um unser Wohl bemüht. Erfreulich,dass der Wirt die MwSt Erhöhung laut eigener Aussage nicht an die Gäste weiterreichen will. Wir sind gesannt. Die alte Schmuckerstube präsentierte sich uns als uriges, sauberes Gasthaus der alten Schule-und das meinen wir durchaus als Kompliment. Wir werden wieder kommen-im Rahmen unsrer finanziellen Möglichkeiten. Ein kleiner Tipp: Ein bisserl weihnachtlicher Tischschmuck mit Kerzenschein hätte das heimelige Gefühl des 'Nach-Hause-Kommens' noch etwas verstärkt und würde dem gesamten herzlich- warmen und menschlichem Ambiente der Stube gut tun...

Mein Schnitzel war sehr zart und schmeckte sehr gut. Personal war freundlich, sogar der Koch kam aus der Küche und vergewisserte sich, ob uns das Essen mundet.

Es gibt sie noch: Die Dorfkneipe als Treffpunkt für jung und alt. Feierabendbier an der Theke und unglaublich gute Schnitzel. Ein freundlicher, aufmerksamer Service in rustikal urigem Ambiente und ein bärig-gemütlicher Chef, der seine Gäste mit einem verschmitzten Augenzwinkern begrüßt. Essen und Service waren sehr gut und ich war sehr zufrieden.

Zwischen Ober-Hambach und Einhausen suchten wir am Pfingstwochenende nach etwas Essbarem und stießen auf dieses Restaurant. Preis-Leistung stimmt, es war alles sehr lecker und rustikal. Die Schnitzel waren sehr gut. Die Bedienung war freundlich und aufmerksam. Eine gute Wahl.

Sehr überrascht ! Das essen war sehr gut.... Hatte selbst das halbe Hänchen mit käsespetzel, vergleichbar besser als bei der Gaststätte Eintracht.

Wie man dieses Essen mit 5 Sternen bewerten kann, ist uns völlig unverständlich. Die Preise auf der Website stimmen nicht mit denen auf der Rechnung überein. Pils vom Fass: jetzt 3,50€ (Internet 3,20€) Apfel-Schorle: jetzt 4,00€ (Internet 3,50€) Beilagensalat: jetzt 5,00€ (Internet 4,00€) Schnitzel Kochkäse: jetzt 11,80€ (Internet 10,80€) Holzfällerschnitzel: jetzt 12,50€ (Internet 10,80€) Pommes: 3,50€ stimmt mit Internet überein. Die Schnitzel sind „Conveniance food“, also nicht selbst paniert, sondern schon fertig gewürzt und paniert eingekauft und machen somit keine weitere Arbeit. Nur noch ab in die Pfanne bzw. Fritteuse. Die Fleischqualität? Ein Schnitzel war durchzogen von Sehnen/Knorpel und ging zur Hälfte zurück. Die Pommes waren sehr gut und die Wirtin sehr freundlich. Hätte uns das Essen geschmeckt, hätten wir kein Wort über die unterschiedlichen Preise auf der Rechnung zur Website verloren. Wir werden auf keinen Fall ein weiteres Mal kommen. Schade drum.

Die Alte Schmuckerstube ist ein echtes Schmuckstück. Sehr sauber und gemütlich mit sehr freundlichem Personal. Das Essen ist traditionell hessisch und sehr, sehr lecker zu absolut günstigen Preisen, von den Schnitzeln, über das Hacksteak bis hin zu den Tagesgerichten! Die Weine und das Bier sind lokal und auch sehr lecker und empfehlenswert. Die Atmosphäre und das Ambiente sind etwas urig, aber sehr angenehm. Es hat zwar drei Stufen am Eingang und kann somit nicht als barrierefrei eingestuft werden, aber deren Überwindung lohnt sich für das Erlebnis auf jeden Fall. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Wir lieben die Alte Schmuckerstube und sind regelmäßig zu zweit oder mit Freunden dort, wenn wir Lust auf beste traditionelle aber auch mal mediterrane Küche haben. Der Service ist fantastisch, immer lieb und freundlich und das Essen exquisit. Es gibt nichts, das einfach nur „normal“ wäre. Alles schmeckt besonders gut. So würde man bspw. von einem halben Hähnchen nicht viel erwarten, aber auch das ist dort außerordentlich gut, weil saftig und würzig, so dass es sogar ohne Beilage ein Genuss ist. Die Tagesgerichte sind oft besonders zu empfehlen aber wenn es einfach ein Schnitzel sein soll, liegt man damit gewiss nie daneben. Reservieren ist empfehlenswert, da es nicht sehr viele Plätze gibt. Ein guter Tipp ist es aber auch Samstags direkt zwischen 14 und 15 Uhr zu kommen, da ist meist noch kein Andrang und man darf sich an für später reservierte Tische setzen.

Wir waren am Sonntag spontan zum ersten Mal in der Schmuckerstube und wurden direkt nach dem reinlaufen super freundlich empfangen. Wir hatten leider weder vorab reserviert, noch telefonisch nachgefragt, ob ein Tisch frei wäre. Trotzdessen haben wir sofort einen Platz angeboten bekommen, weil dieser erst in 2h vergeben gewesen wäre. Die Getränke kamen super schnell, die Bedienung war total freundlich und die Auswahl der Gerichte war schön und übersichtlich dargestellt. Wir hatten beide ein Schnitzel mit unterschiedlichen Beilagen und waren beide sehr angetan. Die Schnitzel wurden frisch zubereitet (man hat gehört wie sie in der Küche geklopft wurden) und die Soßen + Beilagen waren mindestens genauso lecker, wie die Schnitzel selbst. Ich würde für die Alte Schmuckerstube, die Bedienungen und den Koch gerne mehr als nur 5 Sterne vergeben, dies hätten sie nämlich definitiv verdient! Wir wurden rundum positiv überrascht und waren nicht das letzte Mal dort. Weiter so!!

Wunderschönes Restaurant mit vielen einheimischen Leuten und Stammgästen. Wir waren die einzigen Touristen. Es hat uns aber sehr gut gefallen. Hier wird noch gelebt, diskutiert und gefeiert. Das Essen war hervorragend und sehr preiswert. Sehr freundliches Personal. Hier würden wir jederzeit wieder vorbei kommen.
