Gaststätte "Zum alten Speicher" in Dranske

We made a last-minute reservation for three people. The appetizers were served without napkins or cutlery. The herring salad was highly recommended. The bruschetta was dominated by raw onions and otherwise, unfortunately, tasteless. The herring salad was made with salt herring, but it was extremely salty! Too salty for us—perhaps the salt herring hadn't been soaked enough?! With these carelessly presented appetizers, only the taste could have justified the prices of €8.90 and €9.90, but no such luck! The main courses were two fish platters at €29.90 each and a schnitzel with fries for €19.90. Unfortunately, these dishes were also presented without any care! All the dishes were served on a bed of beans that had completely lost their texture, but perhaps it might find its fans?! After our second request, we finally even received cutlery for our food and main courses 😪 (It took four minutes! Just so you know, three tables were occupied at the time). This didn't help the food's temperature, given the cold temperatures of the dining room and the furniture, even though we had a table next to the stove, which unfortunately wasn't refueled until too late. All in all, I have to agree with another guest: "If you want to spend a lot of money on subpar, carelessly presented food, or if you prefer quantity over quality, then this is the place for you!" The photos we took flatter the food. The many positive reviews... Perhaps we just caught them on a bad day?

Small restaurant serving home-style cooking. The food is okay, but nothing special; it doesn't taste outstanding. The atmosphere was pleasant, but it smelled strongly of food and felt more like a pub than a restaurant. We found the prices very high in relation to the ambiance, food, and service.

Well, there were no tables available at the Schifferkrug without a reservation. So we tried the "Alten Speicher" instead. The staff was very friendly. They even had a table for two. We ordered two fried herrings with fried potatoes. The food wasn't our highlight! And certainly not the restaurant itself. It was uncomfortable, more like a campground pub. It needs a real knack for creating a cozy atmosphere. The restrooms are pretty run-down. Sorry for the rating. We had something different in mind.

The ambiance was very cozy and the waitress did a good job. Now for the "food," if you can even call it that. Both of the Jägerschnitzels were completely burnt, and the pizza Milano was burnt too! And the herring platter was way too salty! At least the portion of fries for my little one was good. My advice is: close the kitchen or hire someone who can actually fry a schnitzel; it's not rocket science. 100 euros for the worst meal I've ever had.

If you enjoy fish, this is the place for you! The food is homemade! Whether it's fish soup or fisherman's pizza, whatever you choose, it's delicious! The staff is friendly and highly knowledgeable! No matter what questions you have, everything is explained calmly and with expertise! We would like to thank everyone for the wonderful food and the great conversations!

On the recommendation of the former owner, Min Herzing, from Bakenberg, we discovered the Spreer family and their restaurant, "Zum alten Speicher" (At the Old Granary), in the 2000s. After my wife and I married in November 2008 at Cape Arkona, we celebrated our wedding anniversary every year on Rügen (in Dranske) and always went to the aforementioned restaurant. There, we were always treated to freshly prepared fish dishes, which we thoroughly enjoyed! This is also how we became friends with the family. When my wife passed away four years ago and was buried in Sassnitz Lake, the Spreer family prepared a fantastic meal outdoors for the invited guests. Some of these guests still enjoy the delicious food today! The family atmosphere, the friendly service, and the excellent food always make going to the "Zum alten Speicher" restaurant a special experience!

It was an all-around successful evening! The staff was very friendly. My husband and I had a really delicious meal! The kids weren't entirely happy with the cheese on the pizza. It was very strong and overpowered the flavor of the other toppings. It's best to make a reservation in advance! 6:15 p.m., and it was already busy.

Every time we visit Rügen, we dine at the Alte Speicher (old granary). Everyone is very welcoming, and the food is always delicious. Most of the fish is caught or raised on-site and smoked on-site. On our last visit, I also discovered pizzas on the menu for the first time (I don't know if they've been around for a while). I tried a fish one and can also recommend it.

We were there this evening and enjoyed some truly delicious fish! The selection of fish is extensive, much of it caught by the chef himself and prepared very well. The fish soup was really good, and the service and friendliness were top-notch 👍🏻 Our dog also had a great time... We'd love to come back 👍🏻

We went there on Friday without a reservation. We got a table right away and received friendly, helpful service. All the tables were occupied, but the food came quickly. I had a catfish fillet with side dishes, and my husband had a hunter's schnitzel. Both portions were plentiful and delicious.

We arrived at 19:30 and they no longer gave us dinner even though the tables were empty and we were with a small child.

First of all, it was extremely expensive. We had a Jägerschnitzel for €22. It looked good, the portion size was okay, the fries were homemade and delicious. The meat was great, but far too underseasoned. The same goes for the Jägersauce. It tasted like nothing. I would give it a rating of 3 stars...other dishes can be different and better. But considering the price and the taste, I wouldn't eat there again. The service is very nice and friendly.

A charming restaurant. The food was delicious. It wasn't our first time there and we'll be back. The landlady is very knowledgeable and it's a truly comfortable place. Please keep it that way.

We ate here in August after making a reservation. Drinks took a while, but were still within reason. The appetizers were tasty and good. Our main course, catfish, arrived about 45 minutes after ordering. The menu also states that there may be a wait due to the freshly prepared food. Many people complained about the fried potatoes. We liked them, but we would have liked them to be more fried, but that's often a matter of taste. The catfish was beautifully fried, still juicy, and the portions were adequate. Personally, I thought it was overseasoned with rosemary, but that's also a matter of taste. Unfortunately, fish is expensive; I don't understand all the complaining. All in all, we were satisfied and would eat here again.

We were there for the second time today. We were there once last year. The value for money is simply fantastic. The food is delicious, home-style cooking. The portions are more than generous. Friendly service, the interior is very rustic, and everything is cozy. There aren't long waits either. The sea buckthorn shandy is also delicious. Highly recommended!

We were there in beautiful weather and were allowed to eat outside. We called ahead and got a table right away when we arrived. I had the homemade fried herring, it was absolutely delicious! The waiters were also super friendly and personable. It's simply fantastic, highly recommended!

We ate there twice last week. Both times it was delicious! The service was very friendly...even when a glass of wine flew across the table and broke! Since we already know we'll be vacationing in Drewoldke again, we'll definitely be back. Luckily, I was able to buy the excellent wine from them. A truly lovely little gem with immense charm. August 1, 2025 Today, like every summer, we ate there...the catfish and schnitzel were fantastic. The owner and her daughter were nice and friendly as always... A rustic restaurant with delicious fish, some of it freshly caught. The pizza is also highly recommended. The chef's recommendations are always top-notch. Family-run and very friendly. We've enjoyed coming here for several years.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, we stopped at the Gasthaus zum alten Speicher (Old Storehouse Inn). It was already quite late, but we were still given a very warm welcome! The food was amazing! We'd love to come back on our next vacation!

Unfortunately, the fish on the fish platter wasn't very good. Furthermore, the fried potatoes were either raw or overcooked. The cucumber salad and the fried potatoes were very bland...! Overall, we wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend this restaurant! The prices were also high, which is by no means justified by the food.

A wonderful ambiance paired with very friendly service. The food is delicious and homemade. I had fried potatoes, and they weren't just from a packet. Anyone on Rügen should definitely eat there.

The homemade pizza was delicious. The service was excellent! There was a small play area for children, and they even lit the fireplace for the colder months. The location is poorly signposted from the street. The atmosphere is down-to-earth 🙂

We were there on October 31, 2024 and got a table at short notice. Because it was very difficult to find anything at all. Because it was a holiday up there that day. The food was very good and the whole ambience around was great. We'll definitely be back 😊

Discovered by accident 10 years ago. We always enjoy coming to eat when we are on holiday nearby. The atmosphere is cozy and invites you to linger. The food is always fresh and the portions are large. We are already looking forward to the next time.

Very rustic and honest atmosphere. The service is very nice and the service is timed to match the fresh preparation of the food. That's how it was -- very lovingly prepared. And! you could hear the schnitzel being tapped. I have never experienced it more authentically (meant positively). The price and the size of the portions match. It tasted great. Therefore 100% recommendation and full marks. Many thanks to the chef and the waitresses.

We went to this restaurant two days in a row. The family team is very friendly and polite. The ambience invites you to linger. The food tasted very good. Among other things, flounder, bream, pollack fillet, pizza and pork salmon schnitzel were ordered. The food was on the table for everyone at the same time. The fireplace makes it really cozy. Highly recommended!!! We'll be back.

We expected more. Ambience was not intoxicating nor comfortable. The meal was, well, once and never again. But everyone should try it out for themselves to form their own opinion.

A great traditional restaurant with regional goods. Been there several times and always a pure pleasure. Here you can find everything from meat to pizza to delicious freshly caught fish. Update 10/9/24: Had a delicious meal again today. Great value for money and very warm service. The portions are very generous and everything is fresh. Big praise for that :) No trace of frozen goods or anything similar, which some here claim.

I had a pizza with ham, it was big enough, I don't know what others had, it was also very tasty, but you can change the tomato sauce a little bit, but otherwise everything was great. I also had a chocolate pudding and the taste was a 10/10. I can only recommend it, and to people with a dog, dogs are very welcome

The food was ok. The fried potatoes were too cold for me, I think the plates weren't preheated. The staff was a bit overwhelmed with the restaurant, which wasn't really full. It was the first and probably the last visit.

We always like to come back. If you want, you can have fish from the region. They maintain fish ponds so that fresh fish can come to the plates. The fried fish has always been very delicious and so have the rest of the side dishes. The pizza, drinks and dessert are very good. It's especially nice when you can sit outside in the sun. The staff is friendly. The menu offering is very good. It's not posh, but it's comfortable. They manage to provide everyone with good care, sometimes with a bit of a wait. I say: simple... but very good! 😊👍

We probably "burst in" early in the evening... The prices are steep for the way the food is presented. Fish and fish boulettes were fresh, but without sophistication and somewhat low in salt. There was also no possibility of additional salting. When we asked if everything was OK, we pointed out the (black,) burnt fried potatoes. We were offered a repair here, but due to the lateness of the hour we decided against a replacement. Unfortunately disappointing.

A few days ago, four of us ate in the restaurant and felt very welcome, including the dog. The food was tasty (2 x schnitzel, 1 x fish and 1 fish soup). The landlady was very nice and after a regular guest sang a few shanties, the atmosphere was perfect. Thanks for the nice evening. If we are in the area again we will be happy to stop there again.

Because of the mostly positive reviews, we visited the restaurant “Zum alten Speicher”. When we asked for a table for two, we were assigned a table that was almost in the doorway. The service was quick and friendly, but unfortunately the demeanor seemed rather amateurish and unprofessional. We had to wait quite a long time for our food. That in itself would have been less of a problem if it hadn't been dead quiet in the dining room and cold despite the fireplace being lit. Unfortunately, the food (fish burgers and herring plates, each with fried potatoes) did not meet our expectations. The fried potatoes were dripping with fat on both plates, and the plates overall seemed a bit carelessly arranged. The fish meatballs were almost black on the outside, but still frozen on the inside. When asked about this, the waitress didn't even apologize. At least there was a new portion. All in all, it worked as intended, but unfortunately it didn't work. We won't eat here again.

We experienced a rather dark dining room with a stale smell and service that was "not quite on the ball". Food was okay, just for the portion, not very reasonably priced for me.

We ate here yesterday based on the reviews... and the fish was very good 👍. But unfortunately the fried potatoes were frozen goods. Side salad with honey mustard dressing...Thomy sends his regards. And for matjes with fried potatoes, €21.00 is overly expensive. Sorry, but not justified.

We ordered pizza, one of which had raw dough and the other was completely wrong. The prices are also questionable, just under 7 euros for a small cucumber salad and it didn't make it in terms of taste. Everything was catastrophic, never again and there wasn't really an apology

Anyone who wants to spend a lot of money on bad food is welcome there. Pizza overpriced, way too small and actually tasteless. I wonder if the people who give positive reviews here don't actually cook at home. The pizza was really terrible (from the dough to the toppings). Service was quick and nice, but points were deducted for the clothing of the staff. The waitress walked around in baggy casual clothes. You don't have to be smartly dressed, but you should at least have a matching top. Conclusion: I cannot recommend it.

Unfortunately we were disappointed. We waited over 1.5 hours for the food, then the starters and main courses came at the same time. The potatoes weren't completely cooked through and the plate was carelessly prepared. At a restaurant where a main course can cost €20-30, I simply expect more. We would have been happy to receive some brief information about how long it could take. When we asked, we were told that the cook was alone and made an effort (respect for anyone who can cook for a full restaurant ALONE). It was clear from the service staff that there was a shortage of staff, but they were always friendly to us. Unfortunately no recommendation.

Wir kennen das Restaurant von früheren Besuchen und waren damals sehr zufrieden. Leider hat sich die Qualität des Essens enorm verschlechtert. Wir essen sehr gern Fisch und haben eine Fischplatte bestellt, die nicht günstig war. Tatsächlich war das Fischgericht lieblos angerichtet, vom Geschmack fad und fettig, dazu noch äußerst gräten- und kopflastig. Unser Fehler war sicher, nicht vorher gefragt zu haben, welcher Fisch auf den Teller kommt, aber mit so einem schlechten Niveau haben wir, bei dem Preis, nicht gerechnet. Sehr schade, wir hatten uns auf einen schönen Abend gefreut… Das Schnitzel unseres Sohnes, wäre in dem Fischrestaurant die bessere Alternative gewesen.

The only deduction for service is because it took forever and food for a table wasn't served at the same time. Other than that, everything here was awesome. The food is great and the ambience too. The fish are fresh from the catch and that makes the food very good.

The food was super tasty. We ate the mustard herrings (not for bone haters, they were super thin (to eat with), but there), schnitzel and the fish pizza. It was very crowded despite it being a weekday. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The service was very friendly.

An inconspicuous, somewhat run-down restaurant, you wouldn't stop there... The food is amazing... this is a real insider tip. Everything takes longer, but everything is freshly prepared... even the pancakes are a real culinary delight... We can only recommend it

The food tasted good and was freshly prepared. Unfortunately, the two women were a bit overwhelmed. The appetizer came together with the main course after we had to wait a really long time. The ice cream parlor chairs are nice to look at and are reminiscent of old times, but are not suitable for long evenings. Conclusion: Food is good, ambience can be improved and service is struggling with a lack of staff like everyone else.

It's really cozy here. The food is very tasty and fresh. Hence the tip to bring a little time. 😊 We had pike and herring. Both were prepared to perfection. The service was extremely friendly and (after rush hour) was happy to provide information about the origin of the fish. Very sympathic. 🙏 Price-performance is completely okay. Unfortunately, we weren't able to try the highly praised soft ice cream. But it's not bad - one more reason to come back. 😄 Thank you.

A very nice and rustic restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Parking spaces in front of the door, including space for children to play, also make families' hearts beat faster. The homemade pizza (also available as a children's portion) impresses with its homemade dough and fruity tomato sauce. The pike perch fillet was perfect except for the bones. The fried potatoes and side salad rounded off the meal very well. Highly recommended for the price as well as the friendly staff.

Very friendly staff but overall we wouldn't come back. For example, our drinks came in dirty glasses and the potatoes were half raw. I found the prices too high for that.

We were at the Gasthaus zum alten Speicher on Friday shortly after 5:00 p.m. Some tables were reserved and we sat down in the beer garden in the evening sun and were served friendly and quickly. The food, fried herring and Pomeranian fish salad, were prepared or pickled in-house and had their own pleasant touch. Simply delicious and the price is right too. We will be back!

Very friendly and helpful, we had fish pizza (highly recommended) and zander with fried potatoes. Everything was super tasty and very fresh. A little lucky find on the way home. Charming ambience, inside and out, with an opeair cinema right next to me ☺️

The price/performance ratio doesn't fit at all. The pizza is far too small for the money (at first we thought we got a children's pizza...) and yes, fish is expensive, but two small herrings with very few fried potatoes (some of which were undercooked) for €20 is too much. The staff was nice and friendly, but the rest didn't convince us... what a shame!!
