Gaststätte Thing in Augsburg

Die Gaststätte Thing in Augsburg bietet insgesamt ein angenehmes Biergarten-Erlebnis mit kleinen Abstrichen. Wir hatten vorab reserviert und saßen im Biergarten, der durch seine teilweise geschlossenen Wände eine gemütliche Atmosphäre schafft, allerdings auch etwas lauter wirken kann. Positiv ist, dass ausreichend Sitzplätze vorhanden sind. Das Konzept ist zweigeteilt: Getränke holt man selbst an der Ausgabe, während das Essen am Tisch aufgenommen und serviert wird. Der Service war dabei durchweg freundlich und aufmerksam. Geschmacklich waren die Speisen solide: Die Käsespätzle sowie der Hähnchenstreifen-Salat waren völlig in Ordnung, jedoch ohne besonderen Wow-Effekt. Die Portionsgröße der Käsespätzle empfand ich als etwas klein, vor allem im Verhältnis zum Beilagensalat. Insgesamt bewegen sich Qualität und Menge im Durchschnitt. Die Speisekarte bietet eine ordentliche Auswahl, allerdings ist das Dessertangebot mit nur einem warmen Schokokuchen mit Vanilleeis und Sahne sehr eingeschränkt – hier wäre deutlich mehr Vielfalt wünschenswert. Die Getränkepreise sind noch im Rahmen: Ein Radler oder dunkles Radler kostet 5 € für 0,5 Liter bzw. 9,80 € für einen Liter. Fazit: Eine solide Adresse für einen entspannten Biergartenbesuch mit freundlichem Service, aber mit Luft nach oben bei Portionsgröße und Dessertauswahl.

Der Schweizer Wurstsalat war unterirdisch. Käsescheiben aus der Verpackung die zusammengeklebt in Würfel geschnitten wurden und so im Teller lagen. Dazu kaum Essigsoße und als Highlight zwei alte ausgetrocknete Scheiben Brot. Geht so echt nicht.

Schöner Biergarten, in dem wir schon öfter waren. Sitzplätze sind nicht so bequem und Steinchen wandern schnell mal in die Sandale, aber sonst ist es dort recht nett. Es gab zuletzt auch Decken um sich einzuwickeln, wenn es abends kühler würde. Selbstbedienung mit Sofortkasse für Getränke. Essen wird bei der Bedienung geordert und an den Tisch geliefert und erst nach dem Essen bezahlt. - Gerne auch mit Karte. Achtung: Trinkgeldeingabe prüfen. Wir hatten zuletzt das Chili con Carne, das ganz gut war, und die Currywurst mit Pommes in "scharf", da waren leckere Jalapeñoscheibchen dabei. Wir kommen gerne wieder in den Biergarten. Drinnen ist es oftmals lauter und wegen des dunklen alten Holzes etwas düster.

Biergarten ist immer einen Besuch wert 😊

Bier für 5 € … lohnt sich nicht. Neulich waren wir mit Freunden vor Ort und waren sehr erstaunt, dass der Bierpreis im Biergarten inzwischen bei 5€+ liegt. Die bestellten Burger waren enttäuschend und für den Preis von über 12€ (ohne Pommes) einfach schlecht. Lieblos auf dem Teller geworfen. Der Bacon war unansehnlich, labbrig und kaum essbar, die Hälfte lag neben dem Bun. Im Gegensatz dazu war das vegetarische Essen gut. Der Tofu und der frische Salat waren ebenfalls gut gemacht, sowie der Schweizer Wurstsalat. Das penetrante Abfragen von Trinkgeld auf den Kartenzahlgeräten ist zusätzlich ein störender Punkt. Beim Tischdienst für das Essen ist das fair, aber wenn ich Getränke an der Hütte selbst holen muss, sehe ich es nicht ein, Trinkgeld zu geben. Dennoch werde ich den Biergarten nicht mehr empfehlen …

War super lecker! Der Service extrem Nett und aufmerksam, immer höflich und korrekt. Total schöner Biergarten, und Innenraum. Chefin und Chef sogar selber am mitarbeiten und unfassbar freundlich.

Seit ich mich erinnern kann einer der entspanntesten Orte in Augsburg, an denen man sich zu zweit, in kleinen und in großen Gruppen wohlfühlen kann. Das Thing trumpft mit guter Hintergrundmusik, sau nettem Personal und wirklich sau leckeren Burgern (ein Burger ohne Pommes reicht mir - kriegst schon was für dein Geld ;)) auf. Ich liebe die Atmosphäre und mag es einfach dass ich vor dem Essen was trinken kann und auch wenn ich fertig gegessen habe noch weitere Getränke entspannt zu mir nehmen kann und karteln oder sonst was ohne dass ich das Gefühl haben muss anderen zahlenden Kunden den Platz wegzunehmen. Herrlich, schön dass es euch immernoch gibt!

Nein, ist nicht wahr! Waldmeisterschorle, Berliner Weiße, Nette (nicht luxuriöse), dafür aber ehrliche Gerichte. Keine Kulinarik im Sinne eines Schuhbeck'schen Erlebnisabends, aber das Ambiente, die freundliche Bedienung, die weitestgehend fettfreie Luft - alles das macht dieses Lokal liebens- und besuchenswert. Wir kommen wieder. Danke.

Den Negroni den ich heute im Thing bekommen habe muss ich öffentlich machen. Das waren max 2cl. Getränk und ein großer Eisblock. Einfach nur frech dafür 12€ zu verlangen. Sehr ärgerlich! Bei dem Preis interessiert dann auch der Geschmack nicht mehr.

A big downside: card payments are still not accepted. It's 2025, and in Sweden, you can pay by card at an ice cream stand by a distant lighthouse, but not in the middle of Augsburg's city center. Incomprehensible. The food is ordered and brought by the friendly waiters. Curiously, you can pay by card here. The food is okay, but nothing great. Okay burgers with fries, currywurst, curries. The menu doesn't really have a concept. All in all, I'd come again for a good beer and the atmosphere. The food isn't essential.

Ich schreibe selten negative Rezensionen, aber heute ist es wieder soweit: Ich habe im "Thing" einen Schweizer Wurstsalat bestellt. Gekommen ist ein Teller voll lieblos zusammengeschmissener Zutaten, mit vier Essiggurkenstückchen in Größe eines Fingernagels, die man im Teller unter der Masse an Wurst suchen musste, dazu gefühlt zwei Hände voll gewürfelter Paprika, die NICHT bei den Zutaten in der Speisekarte dabeistanden und die ich nicht vertrage, sonst hätte ich gleich gebeten, diese wegzulassen. Also das große Klauben am Tisch. Die Höhe aber war, dass der Wurstsalat offenbar nicht angemacht war: Essig und Öl waren gar nicht vorhanden. Auf meine Bitte um Essig zum Nachwürzen wurde Balsamico-Essig gebracht. Auf mein Bitten, Essig zu bringen, der auch in einen Schweizer Wurstsalat gehört, wurde ein Schüsselchen Senfsauce gebracht. Ich bat erneut um normalen Essig. Gebracht wurde ein anderes Schüsselchen mit einer Flüssigkeit, die den Namen "Essig" nicht verdient. Es war ein elendes Gefräß und zu schade um die Fleischware.

Never again! Was here two years ago and loved it. We came back yesterday and had one of the most unfriendly experiences ever. The side salad was SMOKING in the dressing. Since we'd already moved our plates and it was very busy, I didn't want to ask the waitresses for a new one. When I finally asked them to remove the barely touched salad from the bill, the "boss" freaked out, gave a lecture like she'd heard this before, cursed us, and then left in a huff. We were speechless. Even the waitress apologized for her boss. Unbelievable. The food quality has also declined. We won't be coming here again.

Short visit to Augsburg and had dinner at Thing in the evening. Service was super friendly, the atmosphere in the beer garden was very pleasant and the food was delicious. Prices are standard. I can't rate the restaurant. Overall, the audience is young, but I can recommend the restaurant.

Unfortunately, there is nothing on the menu about horseradish in the burger sauce. When ordering the dish, only Dijon mustard was mentioned about the homemade sauce, but not horseradish. Without this sauce, the patty was less pleasant to eat, especially in terms of taste.

Their garden is perfect for drink and having some snack. Drinks are on self service. The food menu is not so big but i think it is enough for a beer garden. There are also vegan and vegetarian options. Atmosphere is very nice and prices are OK.

We went there for a fast dinner and ordered two burgers. The burgers were good and very juicy, and also the waiting tone was quite good. The only thing that might need improvement is that the burger buns could have been a bit crosser as mine started to fall apart very fast.

In the beer garden, drinks are self-service and cash only, luckily you can get money for food like you would from an ATM. Top service! Great atmosphere with evening lighting. Food is also very appealing and tasty. We recommend.

Went to the beer garden for dinner on Sunday. Service staff who only bring food were very friendly and attentive. Food was good and plentiful and also typical for a beer garden (sausage salad, salads, currywurst, burgers, ....). Drinks were reasonably priced and you had to get them yourself from the bar. Beer garden is large and beautiful, with trees and other sun protection. All in all a very nice and cozy evening!

Waren Sonntag zum Abendessen im Biergarten. Servicepersonal, das nur Essen bringt, war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Essen war gut und reichlich und auch typisch für einen Biergarten (Wurstsalat, Salate, Currywurst, Burger, ....). Getränke waren preislich ok und mußte man sich selbst am Ausschank holen. Biergarten ist groß und schön, mit Bäumen und anderem Sonnenschutz. Alles in allem ein sehr schöner und gemütlicher Abend!

We spent an evening in the beer garden, which is located in the restaurant's beautifully decorated courtyard. The service, which is only responsible for food, was always friendly and courteous. You have to get your own drinks. It was incomprehensible to us that drinks can only be paid for in cash, but food can be paid for with a card. I had a burger which tasted okay. But I found the price of almost €20 with a really small portion of fries to be steep.

Nice beer garden, but it's very hectic and sometimes seems disorganized. The staff at the bar seemed overwhelmed throughout the evening, there were long waiting times and queues, which made everything seem even more crowded and crowded. A wonderful EM evening in the “Thing” beer garden. You will be served in a friendly manner. The food came without a long wait. Drinks are also easy to pick up from the bar. The burgers were the highlight. Incredibly delicious food!! Kudos to the kitchen, thank you for a lot of “amore” :) We look forward to the next visit!!

Super nice “beer garden” in the middle of the city. The only thing that prevented me from getting the 5th star (my personal opinion): why only pay in cash when it comes to drinks? Unfortunately this is the case in some parts of Germany...

A restaurant attached to a beer garden. We sat in the beer garden, where a sweet waiter from the restaurant served us burgers that were very good. Beer is bought from a separate counter, which was also good (presumably this is not the case if you choose to sit inside the restaurant). Pleasant courtyard with simple but comfortable picnic-style seating.

The beer garden itself is really nice. Drinks are self-service in the bar and food is brought to you. Basically OK. I think 4.60 euros for a beer that I have to get myself is quite steep. In addition, you can only pay in cash at the tavern, and food can only be paid for by card starting at 10 euros. Absolutely out of date and simply annoying. To eat: Just under 14 euros for a pretty bland burger with a cold standard bun and patty, bacon, cheese, a piece of pickled cucumber and too much lettuce - difficult. Fries cost extra but they were good. For 9 euros you get a bag of cold nachos without cheese on a plate with two dips. I don't know... The cheese spaetzle with a side salad was good. Conclusion: Too expensive for the quality and performance, and the nice ambience doesn't help either.

One of the most beautiful beer gardens in Augsburg. Just comfortable. In winter you can sit inside and enjoy the delicious food. The daily specials are varied and you can even get a lasagna on your burger :) Unfortunately, the fries are not crispy, so you either have to like that or choose another side dish instead. Update 2024: Apparently there is a new chef. The fries are now crispy, but we remembered the burgers better at the table.

Unfortunately no longer good! Service unfortunately unskilled and overwhelmed. It's all ok. You have to see where you stay, but then the price also has to be adjusted. Food is a really big minus point. Fries not ready, burger meat burnt and best of all, half of the crisp, fresh, mixed salad consists of frozen products (broccoli, carrots, beans, etc.) otherwise mistakes continued to be made. On the plate of the burger was a whole onion that appeared to have fallen off a tuna salad. A whole onion would also be inappropriate on this salad. only the ambience is still convincing. If only I would come for one more drink.

We ate burgers, currywurst and cheese spaetzle on site. Unfortunately the burgers were a total failure. Burger patty was burnt and the wedges and sauce were totally tasteless. Käsespätzle are good and the currywurst was okay. Toilets are clean. Ambiance is a bit run down and dark.

Nice cozy beer garden. Burger with potato wedges was good. And I was full. Altogether about 16 euros! We were shocked by the increased prices apparently in the entire catering industry. Currywurst with fries. It was a really big portion. But over 12 euros? We had to swallow... I was closer to 3.5 stars...

A very beautiful, rustic beer garden in the inner courtyard invites you to linger. In the beer garden you have to get your own drinks, food is picked up and brought by a waitress. The restaurant itself is also very spacious, but people prefer to sit outside when the weather is nice. The drinks and food are reasonably priced. The staff has always been in a good mood and quick. See you next time
