The food was great - nothing to complain about. You get what you order and we were very satisfied. Things get difficult when something else (and more expensive) is recorded on the bill and you, as a guest, are then accused of lying. Really not okay and a real shame because it ruins the really good gastronomic experience. (EDIT: You can also see from the restaurant's response: They still claim that the guest is lying. It's a real shame and unpleasant)

Was there last night. Service staff all had different things on, I know them differently😕 But it wasn't that bad, the ouzo was missing and the plates were carelessly prepared. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't pleasing to the eye

We were in the restaurant after the afternoon performance of the musical Starlight. Even though we didn't have a reservation and the restaurant was full, we weren't turned away. We got the table after about 5 minutes. The service was quick and effective - everyone knew what to do. The wait for the food was absolutely reasonable considering how busy it was. And...the food (starter and dessert) tasted really delicious. It's a shame that we don't live in Bochum - the Sorbas restaurant and its team around Costas would have been our go-to restaurant. We were just before a Bundesliga game started, so it was a little hectic. We were still able to order and the food was delicious. We suspect that the salad as well as the ouzo fell victim to stress - a shame, but understandable. The employees were very friendly and tried to cope with the rush. When the game started we were sitting pretty much alone in the restaurant and we were able to take in the nice atmosphere. I think we can recommend the restaurant

The worst Greek "restaurant" we have ever eaten at. The side salad was an imposition, the meat was cold. The only thing that was good were the fries. But that's not difficult either. The service was disgraceful. The highlight was how guests at the next table were treated. Completely unprofessional, goodwill is probably a foreign word in this restaurant. We can totally understand the displeasure of the guests, an example of how to ruin the catering industry. We will definitely not visit this location again - as our table neighbors have said.

Yes, we have now seen for ourselves...on a VFL Bochum match day. We opened there three hours before the game started and as soon as we sat down we were asked what we wanted to eat... what felt like five times in three minutes. It looked as if they wanted to process us quickly for the next guests. Food was ok, although only half the size of comparable Greek restaurants, more like children's plates. But the crowning glory, as already mentioned here in the reviews: 24 instead of 16 large beers were billed... at a unit price of over 5 euros... a proud sum that is “earned”. No agreement can be reached with the service...so to all future visitors: be careful with the bill!

Absolutely great! The Zorbas restaurant is convincing across the board and is one of the best Greek places I've eaten in Germany! The atmosphere is very pleasant and cozy. Comfortable chairs and great furniture. The map is very well laid out and leaves nothing to be desired! The price-performance ratio is also super fair. Here the best quality is combined with great products and authentic dishes. For example, feta made from goat cheese is used here and not the cheap alternative from cow! The food has a great taste and is not swimming in oil like other restaurants or too greasy. Great quality!!! In addition to these great points, the staff is super nice, attentive and helpful! The food was very tasty, the portions were manageable, and there was no ouzo at the end. But overall it was good, price and performance are still sufficient, would go again.

We were there quite spontaneously because we were staying in a hotel nearby. Despite the full house, they arranged for eight of us to sit at a table. That was really nice. In addition, the food was very tasty and plentiful, the tzatziki was wonderful and there was also a selection of very tasty desserts. And all of this in a great atmosphere, with friendly service and at very reasonable prices. If we are in Bochum again, we would like to come back.

Visited the location on a spur of the moment on a Saturday afternoon. With 10 people. Very warm friendly welcome. The service was competent and entertaining. The ordered food was perfectly served to everyone at the same time with the usual waiting time. Everyone said the taste was very good. Reasonable price for good food. Ok, no final schnapps, but we ordered a nice Metaxa. It's tastier anyway. If we are in Bochum again soon, the Greek will be one of the first addresses.

The food was really very good, unfortunately the portions were very small. It was incredibly loud, uncomfortable and restless. Unfortunately, the service was absolutely overwhelmed, long waiting times. I kept forgetting something and the boss came to the table with a calculator to pay.

Despite being busy, we got a table for 8 people straight away. The service was nice, funny and the food came quickly despite there being a lot of people. Our condition (Costa) was perfect for our group. The food tastes very tasty and is recommended.

Top Greek restaurant, close to the Starlight Express. We arrived at the Moxy Hotel in the evening and were looking for a place to go out to eat for eight. This was made possible for us directly by the waitress in the restaurant. The service was impeccable, we were served immediately and the atmosphere was very familiar. We were able to laugh a lot with the waiter (a very funny guy) and the waiting times were imperceptibly short. Drinks came immediately, the food took about 15-20 minutes (it had to be made first). The quality was excellent, I have rarely had such good Greek food! We would be happy to come back at any time!

Very friendly staff with humor, dog friendly. Delicious food, little waiting time, reasonable prices. We had: tarama salad, fried feta with tomato, olive oil and onions, gyros with tzatziki, fries & salad (with some sheep's cheese!) as well as minced steaks with Ayvar sauce, baked eggplant slices, fries & salad (also with some sheep's cheese). The starter was flatbread. All dishes were sufficient to plenty. The only drawback is no ouzo on the house, as we know it from home.

Was there with my family. My husband and our daughter enjoyed it. I didn't think the food was that great. The tzatziki had no taste, the gyros were well salted, but there was no salt on the fries. The salad was also very watery and tasteless. When it was cleared away, people naturally asked whether it was tasty. When my answer came back with IT WAS OK BUT NOT CONVINCING. There was no reaction either. As a side note, it should be mentioned that it was the first Greek event where there was no nightcap at the end.

A gold mine in the immediate vicinity of the Arena, Starlight Express and Congress Hall. Very crowded, constantly coming and going. Unfortunately, the staff are very abrupt and don't really listen, so the wrong dishes and drinks are served. The tone among the staff was very loud that evening, perhaps the stress was to blame. The meat was very good, the salad was unimaginative and quite oily, the rice was over-seasoned. No nice plate decoration with parsley, hot peppers or an olive. However, it must also be said that we had barely placed the order, the salad plate was in front of us and barely 5 minutes later the grilled plates with rice or fries followed. All in all a better quick service restaurant

The food was again super tasty, the service was quick and courteous. I ate here once 7 years ago and luckily nothing has changed. Keep it up and thank you.

The food tasted good. Only the preliminary salad wasn't a hit. The service was friendly but a bit slow. Still within limits. The ambience is visually quite neat and cozy. The only negative thing is the noise when larger groups tell each other their “counter jokes” because there is a lot of noise in the “shed”. Conclusion: Not the best Greek in town but quite solid and highly recommended.

We were here with the voucher book and of course we showed it straight away. The staff knows this too; many guests come here with it. We didn't wait long for drinks after ordering, only my currant juice spritzer was so watered down that it tasted like colored water and the glass was filled with ice cubes. That doesn't work at all. Then came a small salad that was probably just an token salad and hardly tasted like anything. There is no greeting from the kitchen such as bread, olives, herb butter etc. My mixed grill plate was ok in size but instead of Greek rice as stated on the menu, there were only fries on the plate. The skewer was no longer juicy but grilled dry, gyros and minced meatballs were ok, lamb chops were cooked on the roaster with too much oil. At the end, not even an ouzo as usual everywhere else. If guests are treated like this with a voucher book, I'm glad that there is only one voucher. I won't go here again!

We visited this place after the Starlight Express. Due to the weather we were able to sit on the beautiful terrace. The food was very tasty and the staff was extremely friendly. All in all, we really enjoyed ourselves there!

Today I would like to add to my review, which is now 6 years old: as you can see from the review, I used to go to Sorbas every now and then when I was in Bochum. After the evaluation several times, but then not for a few years. On Friday September 20th, 2024 it was finally that time again, I was in Bochum again and I had already made my decision the day before that I would go to the Sorbas restaurant. Like many of my visits years ago, I was really impressed. We got a table even without a reservation, the drink (beer) took less than 4 minutes, the salad also came very quickly and the main course was on the table after 20 minutes. Quality: really convincingly good. As I was used to. I rarely eat gyros, as I often had the experience in Stuttgart - either they were too seasoned or dry/on the grill for too long. That's not the case with Zorbas - the gyros are excellent, not overly seasoned, nice and juicy and the stuffed minced steak and the fillet skewer were also great. The rice was juicy, well seasoned, not overcooked - also perfect! The staff was super accommodating, friendly and really quick. The second beer also went very quickly. When I'm back in Bochum I'll definitely come back! ----------- my old review "6 years ago":------------- friendly and very tasty - I'll be back! A few years ago, after a 400km drive, I was looking for something to eat near the hotel and came across Zorbas. Even without a reservation, I got a table straight away and was able to stay seated and drink another beer when I was finished eating. Will definitely come back when I'm in Bochum again. In the meantime I've been there four times and every time: delicious and very friendly! I'm already looking forward to April, because then I'll be there again :-)

The food was very tasty. The service was also nice. The price-performance ratio was very good. 👍🏻 Unfortunately the outside tables could have been cleaner. Therefore the ambience only gets 4 out of 5 🌟

We went there spontaneously on Saturday evening after the Italian restaurant across the street messed up our reservation and got the last free table. The super friendly waiter pointed out to us straight away that it would take a while, but that wasn't actually necessary because it didn't take that long. We all enjoyed it, down-to-earth cuisine with very, very nice staff!

Oh well, It's a better Greek corner snack bar but not a Greek restaurant. The meat was well seasoned, but that's all, completely carelessly prepared, there wasn't any ouzo, not even at the end. No, Greek hospitality looks different.

The reception was a bit very cold, but my souflaki was very good, the Saganaki is particularly recommended. I think no ouzo at the Greek restaurant is a no go and tzatziki also has to be ordered separately, but many people do that now.

Regardless of the reviews, we wanted to see for ourselves. We weren't disappointed. It's really a nice restaurant with great food. The meat is grilled to perfection and the service is very nice. We can really recommend it and feel free to have a small talk with the employees. We say thank you for the food and all the best. You definitely deserve the 5 stars.

We were there for the first time today. We really like the atmosphere, it was warm but at 30 degrees it is difficult to cool down the rooms. My cola was non-carbonated the first time and was immediately exchanged for a fresh one upon request. The gyros were super tasty and completely fat-free. Tzatziki a dream Additionally totally child friendly. Our son even got some ice cream. We'll definitely be back. The service was also great.

We were in this Greek restaurant for the first time today and what can I say we were completely satisfied!!! Great ambience and well furnished (seating not too tight). We immediately felt at home and our 3-year-old grandson was treated very lovingly. The service was always present and immediately tried to satisfy us even when we had a problem. Not to forget the food, we were all very happy as it was really tasty and definitely enough for everyone!! Price performance definitely OK. And at the end there was an ouzo for everyone!!!!!

We are visiting Bochum and wanted to have a nice meal in the neighborhood... In "Zorbas" we waited 20 minutes to order and a full 40 minutes for our food, even though only a few tables were seated. Unfortunately, the fries weren't cooked through on the inside and the feta from the oven was inedible and, in my opinion, had a bite because it tasted sour. I had the food returned...I declined the alternative offered due to time constraints. Nevertheless, I would be charged in full for the dish 😒 In addition, the staff sometimes sat at the next table and smoked, so we sat in the smoke while we ate (outside on the terrace). All in all, we have never felt so uncomfortable and not a trace of hospitality. Our evening was "eaten"....

I was a guest there on a Friday in August. I took a seat outside. I reached the restaurant at 8:13 p.m. In addition to me, there were a group of 5 and a group of 6 outside, as well as another single guest. My order was taken at 8:15 p.m. Because of the numerous negative reviews, I didn't want to take any risks and ordered something small first. It was a baked sheep's cheese with onions, tomatoes and peppers - with a wheat beer. The food came to my table hot, sizzling in a cast iron pan, at 8:30 p.m. The beer was brought immediately after ordering. At 8:45 p.m. I ordered the bill, which was verbally communicated to me at 8:47 p.m. Card payment was possible and I gave a standard tip as the matron was friendly and considerate. The bill was €13, excluding tip. The food was tasty and the price was local. I don't think I've found any reason not to come back here. Next time I'll order gyros or moussaka. Today was day 2 of my test meal. I sat with 15 other guests outside the restaurant. I was immediately presented with the menu and the drink order was taken. Today we had the classic gyros, tzatziki, onions, fries and rice. First there was a simple mixed salad that was already tossed perfectly in vinegar/oil. You could season your own pepper and salt as desired. The fries were spot on. Delicately fried on the outside and potato-soft on the inside. The gyro was absolutely outstanding! It had a crispy shell on the outside and was still very tender and juicy. I didn't find a piece with a streak of fat, as is unfortunately often the case. The portion size was subtly beyond what we were hungry for: too bad to leave anything left over. When I asked for the bill, which came very promptly, the waiter asked for a Quzo on the house, which I gladly accepted. Conclusion: According to my own and my own findings, a very good restaurant with excellent cuisine. Regarding the bad reviews: Either the owner has gone extremely far on his own, which I can hardly imagine given the overall impression, or the bad reviews come from notorious complainers or opportunists who like to agree with "opinions". I really have nothing to complain about! Quite the opposite!!! I will definitely come back - next time with an attachment! Yes Mas! Addendum: A cute little dog was given a bowl of water without asking!❣️

Normally we wouldn't visit a restaurant with a 3.7, but this one is pretty ideally located for a subsequent musical visit. So we were here yesterday too. Food OK to good. Portions are at the lower end of what I expect for the money. Unfortunately, I didn't get a drinks menu and ordered it based on luck. At the end you don't receive an invoice, just an amount. Card payment was also not possible. A rogue who thinks evil... All in all OK, but not again. But the store probably also lives largely from musical visitors who only come there once anyway.

Service was very nice...and the food was simply delicious. There were five of us and we all enjoyed it very much. My pork fillet was simply sensational... fried to perfection and the taste was simply amazing - the eggplant, zucchini and feta filling went perfectly with it... We were served quickly. Drinks and food came quickly... We were there around 1 p.m. - it was a little quieter then. And when I sometimes read reviews - that it took longer... So if a restaurant is busy, then the food or drinks can take a while! The guests often lack understanding. Okay - waiting 30 minutes for drinks is a long time - but you can just ask politely :) We had traveled from further afield because we then attended the Starlight Express performances. If I lived around the corner, further visits would be safe :) Price performance top!

Were on the way to Starlight Express and wanted to eat something beforehand. It took a long time for our food to arrive and then everything came together including the starter. A bit very modest for four people with 5 slices of bread. The food itself was super tasty. We all agreed on that!

The small outdoor area on the main street was surprisingly cozy and you didn't feel disturbed by the busy traffic. We were served very nicely and the drinks and food were served quickly. BUT the cola tasted like water - syrup?! The meat (all 3 types available) was very dry, without any taste and inedible despite the sauce. In the case of the gratinated gyros with Metaxxa sauce, the sauce wasn't there at all. Despite the very low prices, I expect something different from a Greek, especially when they advertise themselves as having the “best gyros in Bochum”. A pity.

Unfortunately, 0 points are not possible. After waiting 40 minutes we received our salad. Next to us, the first people who came after us have already left. After 50 minutes we went to pay for the drinks and the food still wasn't there at that point. Really very poor communication and unsympathetic staff.

Unfortunately I don't understand where the good reviews come from. You wait 30 minutes for your drinks, the starter of squid looked like Gouda, was inedible, rubbery and so cold that it probably only came out of the freezer shortly beforehand. The walls are partly splattered with oil (?), the tables are sticky and the service is disastrously unfriendly and slow. If you make eye contact to reorder, you will look away. The grill plate for €26 was a joke and way too small, the side salad had exactly ONE slice of tomato, ONE slice of cucumber and ONE slice of cheese, the rest was just salad with vinegar. Never again and not recommended at all, maybe for a fries, which was okay.

vor unserem Musical - Besuch wollten wir noch vorher nett Essen gehen und entschieden uns für dieses Restaurant. So weit so gut. Essen war gut. Preis für einen kleinen Salat mit Scampis zu teuer. Wollten dann zahlen, da sollte man schon dabei sein, wenn die Rechnung erstellt wird, sonst hat man schnell eine Rechnung von einem anderen Tisch bezahlt. Wollten dann mit Karte zahlen und dann ging das Kartengerät nicht. Also lief mein Mann zum nächsten Automaten und ich saß bei sehr heißem Wetter an unserem Tisch und wartete. Leider wurde mir kein Wasser oder ein anderes Getränk angeboten. Die Bedienung lief öfters an meinem Tisch vorbei, aber nein nichts. Wir waren dort zum Glück nur einmal.

The tzatziki beforehand was good, but then came the gyros, and that was by far the worst thing I've ever eaten. Dry and totally salty. And we all had gyros, and everyone saw it that way. What I can't stand at all is when the waitress sits down in front of the shop and smokes. Do it so that the guests don't see it. The service was nice and it was nice to sit outside too. But the gyro just wasn't good.

We came here on a Friday evening with 3 people. The staff was a bit surly and one of the waiters didn't speak German or English!? We ordered our food and it took almost 20 minutes before we got our starter. Once we finished that, we had to wait about 45 minutes for the main course. That only came after asking twice. Strangely enough, the German guests received their food very quickly. The food was tasty, but not special, rather average. All in all, not recommended (there is a great Italian restaurant less than a 5-minute walk away)

Today we went to Zorbas at short notice for a meal with a voucher book. Everything was perfect, fast service and delicious food. A few small appetizers beforehand were very tasty.

I've been going to Vula and Leo for 30 years and have always been very happy with the food. I don't know anyone Greek who can keep up!!!!

If you could give this zero stars, I would. We were there with 4 people and waited 45 minutes for our four drinks. When we wanted to order food, the staff advised us against the fish dishes because the waiting time was too long. We didn't order any fish and still waited two hours for the food. The staff smoked every 10 minutes in front of the restaurant and in front of the waiting guests, then preferred to let the guests wait. When the food came it was cold. The small salad advertised on the menu with each main course was not handed out by the staff and we didn't get it either. The tuna salad as the main course consisted of iceberg lettuce, four tomato slices and a dumped can of tuna, which you could tell from the shape that it had just fallen out of the can. The salad had no dressing and was swimming in the liquid of the canned tuna for €16. The fries were soggy when cold and there was no sauce for the fries without salt. Simply impossible for the prices quoted there. We will avoid this restaurant in the future.

Ambiance is OK but not overly lovingly furnished. The colleague in service was on his toes and also accepted criticism very well. Unfortunately, the food wasn't good at all. The calamari was too big and therefore rubbery. The rice is still very raw and grainy. The advertised homemade tiramisu (which actually doesn't belong on a Greek menu) was mixed with cream and contained hardly any coffee and no amaretto at all. That didn't work at all for our Italian friend. He then left a recipe behind. Will come back at some point and see if they have implemented it. In any case, we had the obligatory ouzu.

There were around 15 people in the restaurant during our stay, so there were no bottlenecks when ordering or delivering. The food was good, but the proportion of "filling side dishes" (croquette fries) was too high for me in relation to the main course. As mentioned in other reviews, there was no invoice - the total amount was just "announced". The electric "candles" on the tables with a cold white color temperature only contributed to a limited extent to the ambience.

We went here for dinner before Starlight Express. Food was tasty, drinks were cold. However, the service was a long time coming. We would like to come back and hope that things will run faster then. Demanding drinks and the bill on time and multiple times doesn't work so well.

The food used to be okay, but now the food is great again. Try the pork medallions with pepper sauce. They're crazy.

What an incredible experience, you wait ages for your drinks and the food wasn't served until you asked again. The food itself was very good as always, but the service was completely overwhelmed and you were charged for side dishes that were not ordered. Asked several times for the bill, no response 😡 If you are rudely spoken to when paying, why should you come back? I've known this great place for many years, but unfortunately today was my last visit. Don't you need any more guests? Isn't guest satisfaction the most important thing in gastronomy? I don't understand this 🤷🏻‍♂️

We got a table for two on Tuesday evening without a reservation and our announcement that we had a Kulinariscard didn't change the service. We ordered a carafe of wine and a bottle of water, both were brought promptly and poured. We ordered two main courses and the accompanying salad was served very quickly. (Best feta on top I've ever had) Our food came quicker than expected - I know bifteki always takes a little longer on the grill! The portions were very large (my mother had over-baked gyros and had to have the rest packed up, which was also possible without any problems). The food tasted very good, the French fries on the side were fresh and crispy. The service was great and our waiter was very friendly. Payment by card at the table and at the end we were offered an ouzo. We were completely satisfied and are already planning our next visit!

All in all, we didn't want to be influenced by negative reviews, but unfortunately we can only agree with many of them. Very unfortunate. The service punished us with disregard for a long time, when we were finally able to order we waited quite some time for our drinks (two cyclists). We then ordered a fish platter for 24.90...not worth it. A carelessly mottled piece of fish, 5 lukewarm squid rings and two head-on prawns, with tzatziki (really tasty) and a side dish of fries, which are on the menu but which you only got when you asked, clearly after the fish. Then a "grill mix" with liver... the advertised Bifteke WITH SHEEP'S CHEESE was just a minced meat. After another wait with empty plates and glasses, someone came to our table. With a bill of 59.40 euros there wasn't even an ouzo. Why do I emphasize this? The neighboring tables seemed to be served faster, were given an ouzo and were extremely unfriendly to us. A lot can happen, but there were just too many drawbacks during one visit. The first and certainly last visit. The money could definitely have been invested better.
