We are visiting Bochum and wanted to have a nice meal in the neighborhood... In "Zorbas" we waited 20 minutes to order and a full 40 minutes for our food, even though only a few tables were seated. Unfortunately, the fries weren't cooked through on the inside and the feta from the oven was inedible and, in my opinion, had a bite because it tasted sour. I had the food returned...I declined the alternative offered due to time constraints. Nevertheless, I would be charged in full for the dish 😒 In addition, the staff sometimes sat at the next table and smoked, so we sat in the smoke while we ate (outside on the terrace). All in all, we have never felt so uncomfortable and not a trace of hospitality. Our evening was "eaten"....

I was a guest there on a Friday in August. I took a seat outside. I reached the restaurant at 8:13 p.m. In addition to me, there were a group of 5 and a group of 6 outside, as well as another single guest. My order was taken at 8:15 p.m. Because of the numerous negative reviews, I didn't want to take any risks and ordered something small first. It was a baked sheep's cheese with onions, tomatoes and peppers - with a wheat beer. The food came to my table hot, sizzling in a cast iron pan, at 8:30 p.m. The beer was brought immediately after ordering. At 8:45 p.m. I ordered the bill, which was verbally communicated to me at 8:47 p.m. Card payment was possible and I gave a standard tip as the matron was friendly and considerate. The bill was €13, excluding tip. The food was tasty and the price was local. I don't think I've found any reason not to come back here. Next time I'll order gyros or moussaka. Today was day 2 of my test meal. I sat with 15 other guests outside the restaurant. I was immediately presented with the menu and the drink order was taken. Today we had the classic gyros, tzatziki, onions, fries and rice. First there was a simple mixed salad that was already tossed perfectly in vinegar/oil. You could season your own pepper and salt as desired. The fries were spot on. Delicately fried on the outside and potato-soft on the inside. The gyro was absolutely outstanding! It had a crispy shell on the outside and was still very tender and juicy. I didn't find a piece with a streak of fat, as is unfortunately often the case. The portion size was subtly beyond what we were hungry for: too bad to leave anything left over. When I asked for the bill, which came very promptly, the waiter asked for a Quzo on the house, which I gladly accepted. Conclusion: According to my own and my own findings, a very good restaurant with excellent cuisine. Regarding the bad reviews: Either the owner has gone extremely far on his own, which I can hardly imagine given the overall impression, or the bad reviews come from notorious complainers or opportunists who like to agree with "opinions". I really have nothing to complain about! Quite the opposite!!! I will definitely come back - next time with an attachment! Yes Mas! Addendum: A cute little dog was given a bowl of water without asking!❣️

The taste of the food was good, but the portion was a bit small. It could have been a little more. Staff friendly and nice. The side salad was also a bit poor.

Normally we wouldn't visit a restaurant with a 3.7, but this one is pretty ideally located for a subsequent musical visit. So we were here yesterday too. Food OK to good. Portions are at the lower end of what I expect for the money. Unfortunately, I didn't get a drinks menu and ordered it based on luck. At the end you don't receive an invoice, just an amount. Card payment was also not possible. A rogue who thinks evil... All in all OK, but not again. But the store probably also lives largely from musical visitors who only come there once anyway.

Everything is good, nice staff, good/cheap food and an excellent alternative if the surrounding hotels don't have anything to offer or better come here!

The food was okay, both in terms of taste and quantity. Priced in the middle range. Unfortunately the food only arrived at the table after 1 hour. An ordered starter was delivered directly to the main course. Starter...... Says the name. Drinks were empty, service only upon request. Located right on the main street but still cozy and clocky. Conditional recommendation, maybe next time it will be a little quicker.

Service was very nice...and the food was simply delicious. There were five of us and we all enjoyed it very much. My pork fillet was simply sensational... fried to perfection and the taste was simply amazing - the eggplant, zucchini and feta filling went perfectly with it... We were served quickly. Drinks and food came quickly... We were there around 1 p.m. - it was a little quieter then. And when I sometimes read reviews - that it took longer... So if a restaurant is busy, then the food or drinks can take a while! The guests often lack understanding. Okay - waiting 30 minutes for drinks is a long time - but you can just ask politely :) We had traveled from further afield because we then attended the Starlight Express performances. If I lived around the corner, further visits would be safe :) Price performance top!

Were on the way to Starlight Express and wanted to eat something beforehand. It took a long time for our food to arrive and then everything came together including the starter. A bit very modest for four people with 5 slices of bread. The food itself was super tasty. We all agreed on that!

The small outdoor area on the main street was surprisingly cozy and you didn't feel disturbed by the busy traffic. We were served very nicely and the drinks and food were served quickly. BUT the cola tasted like water - syrup?! The meat (all 3 types available) was very dry, without any taste and inedible despite the sauce. In the case of the gratinated gyros with Metaxxa sauce, the sauce wasn't there at all. Despite the very low prices, I expect something different from a Greek, especially when they advertise themselves as having the “best gyros in Bochum”. A pity.

Unfortunately, 0 points are not possible. After waiting 40 minutes we received our salad. Next to us, the first people who came after us have already left. After 50 minutes we went to pay for the drinks and the food still wasn't there at that point. Really very poor communication and unsympathetic staff.

Unfortunately I don't understand where the good reviews come from. You wait 30 minutes for your drinks, the starter of squid looked like Gouda, was inedible, rubbery and so cold that it probably only came out of the freezer shortly beforehand. The walls are partly splattered with oil (?), the tables are sticky and the service is disastrously unfriendly and slow. If you make eye contact to reorder, you will look away. The grill plate for €26 was a joke and way too small, the side salad had exactly ONE slice of tomato, ONE slice of cucumber and ONE slice of cheese, the rest was just salad with vinegar. Never again and not recommended at all, maybe for a fries, which was okay.

The portions are a bit small for the price. Not to be compared with the “Greek on the corner” that everyone has, but really a small, beautiful restaurant with a cozy atmosphere.

The tzatziki beforehand was good, but then came the gyros, and that was by far the worst thing I've ever eaten. Dry and totally salty. And we all had gyros, and everyone saw it that way. What I can't stand at all is when the waitress sits down in front of the shop and smokes. Do it so that the guests don't see it. The service was nice and it was nice to sit outside too. But the gyro just wasn't good.

We came here on a Friday evening with 3 people. The staff was a bit surly and one of the waiters didn't speak German or English!? We ordered our food and it took almost 20 minutes before we got our starter. Once we finished that, we had to wait about 45 minutes for the main course. That only came after asking twice. Strangely enough, the German guests received their food very quickly. The food was tasty, but not special, rather average. All in all, not recommended (there is a great Italian restaurant less than a 5-minute walk away)

Today we went to Zorbas at short notice for a meal with a voucher book. Everything was perfect, fast service and delicious food. A few small appetizers beforehand were very tasty.

I've been going to Vula and Leo for 30 years and have always been very happy with the food. I don't know anyone Greek who can keep up!!!!

If you could give this zero stars, I would. We were there with 4 people and waited 45 minutes for our four drinks. When we wanted to order food, the staff advised us against the fish dishes because the waiting time was too long. We didn't order any fish and still waited two hours for the food. The staff smoked every 10 minutes in front of the restaurant and in front of the waiting guests, then preferred to let the guests wait. When the food came it was cold. The small salad advertised on the menu with each main course was not handed out by the staff and we didn't get it either. The tuna salad as the main course consisted of iceberg lettuce, four tomato slices and a dumped can of tuna, which you could tell from the shape that it had just fallen out of the can. The salad had no dressing and was swimming in the liquid of the canned tuna for €16. The fries were soggy when cold and there was no sauce for the fries without salt. Simply impossible for the prices quoted there. We will avoid this restaurant in the future.

Unfortunately it wasn't very palatable to our palate. The calamari was tough, the gyros a little dry. Lamb chops were good. Fries a little too crispy. The service was always trying, but couldn't convince us. Can only get better.

Ambiance is OK but not overly lovingly furnished. The colleague in service was on his toes and also accepted criticism very well. Unfortunately, the food wasn't good at all. The calamari was too big and therefore rubbery. The rice is still very raw and grainy. The advertised homemade tiramisu (which actually doesn't belong on a Greek menu) was mixed with cream and contained hardly any coffee and no amaretto at all. That didn't work at all for our Italian friend. He then left a recipe behind. Will come back at some point and see if they have implemented it. In any case, we had the obligatory ouzu.

There were around 15 people in the restaurant during our stay, so there were no bottlenecks when ordering or delivering. The food was good, but the proportion of "filling side dishes" (croquette fries) was too high for me in relation to the main course. As mentioned in other reviews, there was no invoice - the total amount was just "announced". The electric "candles" on the tables with a cold white color temperature only contributed to a limited extent to the ambience.

We went here for dinner before Starlight Express. Food was tasty, drinks were cold. However, the service was a long time coming. We would like to come back and hope that things will run faster then. Demanding drinks and the bill on time and multiple times doesn't work so well.

The food used to be okay, but now the food is great again. Try the pork medallions with pepper sauce. They're crazy.

What an incredible experience, you wait ages for your drinks and the food wasn't served until you asked again. The food itself was very good as always, but the service was completely overwhelmed and you were charged for side dishes that were not ordered. Asked several times for the bill, no response 😡 If you are rudely spoken to when paying, why should you come back? I've known this great place for many years, but unfortunately today was my last visit. Don't you need any more guests? Isn't guest satisfaction the most important thing in gastronomy? I don't understand this 🤷🏻‍♂️

We were there spontaneously last night. Mega nice staff, super delicious Greek dishes! An absolute recommendation. At the end there was homemade Greek yoghurt 😍I would love to do it again

We got a table for two on Tuesday evening without a reservation and our announcement that we had a Kulinariscard didn't change the service. We ordered a carafe of wine and a bottle of water, both were brought promptly and poured. We ordered two main courses and the accompanying salad was served very quickly. (Best feta on top I've ever had) Our food came quicker than expected - I know bifteki always takes a little longer on the grill! The portions were very large (my mother had over-baked gyros and had to have the rest packed up, which was also possible without any problems). The food tasted very good, the French fries on the side were fresh and crispy. The service was great and our waiter was very friendly. Payment by card at the table and at the end we were offered an ouzo. We were completely satisfied and are already planning our next visit!

All in all, we didn't want to be influenced by negative reviews, but unfortunately we can only agree with many of them. Very unfortunate. The service punished us with disregard for a long time, when we were finally able to order we waited quite some time for our drinks (two cyclists). We then ordered a fish platter for 24.90...not worth it. A carelessly mottled piece of fish, 5 lukewarm squid rings and two head-on prawns, with tzatziki (really tasty) and a side dish of fries, which are on the menu but which you only got when you asked, clearly after the fish. Then a "grill mix" with liver... the advertised Bifteke WITH SHEEP'S CHEESE was just a minced meat. After another wait with empty plates and glasses, someone came to our table. With a bill of 59.40 euros there wasn't even an ouzo. Why do I emphasize this? The neighboring tables seemed to be served faster, were given an ouzo and were extremely unfriendly to us. A lot can happen, but there were just too many drawbacks during one visit. The first and certainly last visit. The money could definitely have been invested better.

Good food, nice service and okay ambience

We went there for dinner 2 days in a row! It was simply amazing, incredibly tasty 😋 and everyone was very friendly and accommodating! Absolutely amazing service! If someone, like us, goes to Starlight Express or is staying nearby, we can only recommend Zorbas Restaurant!!! Kind regards from beautiful Swabia😉

So I don't know what others are complaining about. Absolutely nice staff and really delicious food! We talked to the boss and were really happy to have been here. When we're back in Bochum we'll come by 😊😊

We came spontaneously and managed to get a table for two on Friday evening. The waitresses and waiters were super nice, not pushy at all, but still attentive. The food was very tasty and sufficient, we had the grill plate and the zucchini slices. The tzatziki was great. Would definitely recommend the restaurant and had a lovely evening.

Had made a reservation for 10 people, drinks and food were ordered immediately. Drinks were also brought quickly, but the food took over an hour to arrive. No one asked if anyone else would like to drink, even though they saw the glasses were partly empty. Unfortunately the lamb chop was tough. Sometimes Maijonese was ordered with the fries, but you didn't get it. Anything but recommended.

Solid Greek restaurant with delicious food, there were no complaints during our visit. A perfect experience would be a final ouzo on the house - as you would expect from a Greek restaurant. This could still be improved. Otherwise attentive service and reasonable prices.

We had dinner there last night. The food (stuffed minced steak with fries) and the dessert were really very good. The meat was very spicy and tasty. The Metaxa sauce as well. We received very friendly and courteous service there. Everything perfect.

Unfortunately only three stars. The staff takes some time to serve you. It doesn't always have your table in view, which is what good gastronomy should be. The food was somewhat tasty but I know it better. The price-performance ratio is just ok. What was unusual was that you weren't offered the actual Uzo, which is common in every Greek restaurant, either before or after your meal. Unfortunately there is no full number of points.

We ate here and were amazed. When we looked, the restaurant had a rating of 3.5. That was absolutely not justified. The food was great. The staff friendly and helpful. We will go here again and can only recommend Zorbas.

Please note that there are two Zorbas in Bochum and we ordered from the wrong person. There were 16 of us standing in front of the door and wanted to eat. Very friendly team. Had reserved a table, but unfortunately we were 30 minutes late. Nevertheless, the table was kept free for us. When we mentioned that we had tickets for Starlight Express, the orders came very quickly. Definitely recommended in combination with a visit to a musical. Very easy to reach on foot! Huge parking lot for €4 flat rate opposite the restaurant. But be careful: the barrier only accepts coins...

Today we went to Sorbas Bochum with a voucher book. We were initially concerned because of a few reviews you can read online. Nothing that you can read there has even been remotely confirmed. It is a family business. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the food was great and the quantity was absolutely sufficient. “Everyone was full” and there was also “MAYO”. If customers come to eat there who only have an hour to spare due to a visit to the Starlite or stadium and think that they might just have the main meal and dessert served within 30 minutes, they should perhaps rethink their strategy. All in all, we had a nice evening and I can recommend that everyone get their own opinion there. Thanks to the Sorbas team👍🏻

Sensational Greek next to Starlight Express. If you still have time before the screening at Starlight Express, you should take a detour to Zorbas. Very good food for a good price.

We love coming here to eat when we go to a football game. It's just warm, beautiful and great food. Were also guests of the deceased owner. Can only recommend it. What should be noted... if VFL Bochum has a home game at lunchtime/afternoon, you should definitely make a reservation.

We had reserved. Had to wait because of many Starlight guests. 15 minutes after us, a group came to the next table and said they had a maximum of an hour for Starlight. They were served quickly. After 25 minutes we asked if we could order drinks and after 45 minutes if we could order food. The drink order was forgotten. When the group left the neighboring table, we had not yet had any entertainment. Service bottomless, friendliness manageable. Food was ok at best. The last time for us.

Very great shop! We were pressed for time because of the concert next door. Despite the store being full, we ate within 30 minutes. Super Service. Great employees! Just wow. Rarely seen anything like that. The food was simply delicious, just like you would expect from a Greek. We'd love to come back here at the next concert!

We ended up here via the Kulinaris Card before visiting Starlight Express, which is only a few hundred meters away. The restaurant is on a corner of the main street and due to various construction sites we couldn't park directly at the restaurant, but in the immediate vicinity. We really liked the look of the restaurant and it was still relatively empty (around 4:30 p.m.). From 5 p.m. onwards it gradually became more and more crowded, with some people also eating before the musical. The young man who served us was very friendly and quite relaxed in terms of time. The menu has a little bit of everything to offer and overall we really enjoyed the things we ordered. So we will come back again even without the Kulinaris Card.

Such an unfriendly shop Never.never again Malaka

Overall it was OK and that's really euphemism. Overall, the food was pretty dry and the fact that we had very little sauce didn't make it any better. The fries were neither seasoned nor was there mayo or ketchup, which made for a really unpleasantly dry number with the lack of sauce available. We won't come back.

The food was delicious. The portions were not too small and not too big. In our case the waitress forgot the salad at the beginning.

Unfortunately we weren't satisfied at all. The cucumbers on the starter salad were definitely old. The cola is non-carbonated and the gyros tasteless and greasy. In the end the EC machine failed and we had to laboriously organize cash. Here in the north there is always an ouzo as a greeting, here not even as an apology. We definitely won't be coming back.

In my opinion you could be friendlier, the food was okay and you were full, we know how it is that there is an ouzo to say goodbye, it seems to be different in some restaurants, it's a shame, otherwise the restaurant was quite nice.

Also wenn man nichts besseres findet kann man hier sicher für angemessene Preise essen gehen...allerdings würde ich der Familie die den Laden betreiben nah legen sich nicht laut vor den Gästen zu streiten...und beim Getränke Service etwas aufmerksamer sein !!! Es war ein gelungener Abend aber ich würde nicht wieder kommen sorry !!

Bedienung freundlich. Essen schmackhaft. Leider war das Fleisch schon etwas kalt, als es serviert wurde.

Wir waren an einem Samstag um 18:00 mit 6 Personen dort. Das Restaurant war proppenvoll. Dank Reservierung hat alles bestens geklappt und das Essen war auch sehr gut. Das Personal war trotzt der Menge an Gästen sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Super leckeres Essen. Sehr gutes Personal. Obwohl es sehr voll war mussten wir nicht lange aufs Essen oder die Getränke warten. Zum Schluss hat uns nur der Ouzo gefehlt, der ja oft zum Bezahlen spendiert wird.
