Athos Restaurant in Bochum

Really, in our opinion, the best Greek restaurant in Bochum! Consistent quality every time that always tastes good and great service that leaves nothing to be desired.

The last time I ate here was as a small child with my parents, and today my family and I used the voucher book as an excuse to dine there again. For starters, we had my mixed salad, bread, and olives and chili peppers on top. We could season it all ourselves with vinegar, oil, salt, and pepper. I think that's great, because some people like it more than others. The amount was more than enough. I ordered a Marathon plate, my daughter a Gyro plate, and my husband the Alex plate. Each came with fries and rice. The meat was truly delicious, as was the rest. The staff, as well as the chef, are truly friendly. What goes around comes around. We were greeted politely and bid farewell, including some small talk. The ambiance is "old," let's put it that way, BUT... the main thing is that the food tastes good, and it certainly does. This won't be our last visit there. It's worth it. Give it a try.

Overall, we were satisfied. We sat outside in the garden. The ambiance in the garden was quite good; the interior was dated, but I thought it was OK. Service was very good. We received friendly, appreciative, and attentive service. Simply great. The food was delicious, the portion was quite large, and the price was fair. The salad could have used a dressing and perhaps 2-3 more salads, but overall it was good. The fries were crispy and hot, and the gyro had a few greasy pieces, but it was tasty. The appetizers (saganaki and stuffed vine leaves) were also very good. The leftover food was well packaged. We also received a free ouzo beforehand. We'd be happy to come back!

We ate gyros with scampi. The gyros were good, as was the tzatziki, but the scampi weren't cleaned and there were only 5 of them. Two of them were fried to pieces. Service was quick.

Another successful evening at our favorite restaurant. For 20 years, we've offered excellent quality, good value, and pleasant service.

It was our first time there and I have to say it was delicious 😋 The staff was very nice and attentive, great.👍

Wir waren heute in dem Restaurant mit unserem Schlemmerbuch und wollten mal wieder griechische Küche probieren. Meine Frau hat Garnelen bestellt und ich eine Fleischplatte Das Essen kam nach ein paar Minuten und es sah zuerst ganz nett aus. Meine Frau, eine bekennende Fisch-Esserin stellte dann aber fest, dass die Garnelen ohne Kopf serviert wurden. Leichtes Stirnerunzeln..okay soweit. Dann verzog sie den Mund und rümpfte die Nase, sagte sofort, dass es nicht frisch. sondern Tiefkühlkost war. Ich schnupperte an den Garnelen und musste auch die Nase zuhalten. Meine Frau, eine erfahrene Restaurant- Kennerin, ging mit ihrem Teller zur Theke und reklamiert das Essen. Darauf wurde Sie beschimpft und als Schmarotzer hingestellt. Warum? Sie hatte nichts gegessen und ich war bereit meine Portion mit Fleisch, das ausserdem noch zäh war, zu bezahlen. Sie war bedient und wollte auch kein Ersatz-Essen. Wie wurden fortlaufend vom Kellner beschimpft..und das im öffentlichem Raum. Wenn ich nicht bezahlen würde, wollte er die Polizei rufen. Aber ich hatte doch schon das Geld auf dem Tisch liegen. Nun konnten wir den Gutschein 2 für 1 nicht einlösen..aber nicht schlimm bei der Schikane. Meine Portion und die Getränke habe ich natürlich bezahlt. Den Vorschlag, dass er uns eine Portion mitgeben sollte, lehnte er ab..er wäre kein Sozialamt . Also mit rotem Kopf raus und nie wieder dieses Restaurant betreten.

We traveled from Essen with our friends and redeemed our Schlemmerblock voucher. We've used the Schlemmerblock voucher several times now and have never been as disappointed as we were at this restaurant. Aside from the ambiance, the paper tablecloth, and the napkins, the food wasn't particularly special. The plates looked very fragile, and the dishes were carelessly arranged on them. At the snack bar around the corner from us, the Greek dishes taste much better and are always very nicely presented. There was oil and vinegar on the table, and the salad was served dry. The staff was friendly. For us, that's definitely not a reason to drive to Bochum.

Furnishings very rustic. There were paper tablecloths. Sustainable? The service was very friendly and good. The fries were very tasty. Unfortunately our Bifteki still had some pink spots. So it wasn't cooked properly. But it was edible. The gyros were generally rated as dry and quite neutral in taste. When asked, the other dishes only received a “well yes” rating. There is still room for improvement. And it's unclear why a simple moussaka breaks the price limit of 20 euros.

We were there yesterday with the Schlemmerblock voucher and were very impressed with the service and the food. Parking was easy on the side street. I called 1/2 hour in advance and was kindly informed that we could eat there at short notice. We were warmly welcomed in the restaurant. The restaurant is rustic and tastefully decorated and is comfortable to sit in. Some regular guests were there, some with dogs. A free Ouso rounded off the meal. We would be happy to come back and recommend the food. All in all a very nice, classic Greek restaurant!

We were skeptical based on previous reviews and were pleasantly surprised. We had tzatziki and a plate of olives and pepperoni as starters. Main courses were liver with fried onions and fries and bifteki with gyros and fries. Before that there was a salad that was part of the dishes. It was fresh and crunchy and dressed with vinegar and oil. The tzatziki had the necessary whistle. Liver, gyros and bifteki were tasty and juicy, the fries were crispy. The bread beforehand was also toasted and delicious. The service was very friendly. The furnishings are getting old, but that's exactly what gave us a certain sense of comfort. The toilets were clean and well maintained. We'd love to come back!

Actually, I don't write reviews often because the time is just too valuable for me, but after this subterranean taste experience, I just have to make my displeasure known. This evening we were with 9 people in the "restaurant", if you want to call it that. Before entering the kitchen you can take a look through the open window, there are no fly screens. Actually, the alarm bells should have gone off. When you enter the restaurant you feel like you have been transported back to the early 80s, because the restaurant has somehow stopped there, including in terms of cuisine. Loveless starter salads without dressing went perfectly with the tablecloth, which was made of paper, so that the tablecloths underneath will probably survive the next 50 years. The dishes served were all carelessly prepared, which you might expect from a chip shop, but not from a restaurant. Of course, there was no ouzo for good friends, since we were guests with the Kulinariscard. The portions in Greek restaurants are usually known for their size, but here you can expect the opposite, but this will probably save you the extra charge for take-away packaging. I can't remember ever eating such a bad Metaxa sauce! It's good that I ordered them separately from my grill plate, so at least I didn't mess up all the meat with them. The remaining plates were just as poorly filled with meat and frozen seafood as long as you can call it full. After the meal, which lasted about an hour, we saw that we had to leave the restaurant quickly because we no longer wanted to be a burden to the unfriendly boss, who sometimes served us himself. Each of the 9 people who were there that evening can't remember the last time they ate so badly! So far we have only had positive experiences with the Kulinariscard, but you have to lose sometimes... and this evening was a defeat across the board, and if I could, I wouldn't even give it one star.

Absolutely thrilled with the service and the food. Lamb shank from the oven and the lamb fillet in red wine sauce were super delicious! Yesterday on July 26th. been there again. Food plentiful and tasty. Only now for the second time we didn't get a lamb fillet. On May 24th it was already like that. And every time a Friday evening. It was soooo recommended to me last Christmas. Was also a dream. Then ordered again and again. Still great. So very disappointed that I had to order something else the last two times. Hope it doesn't happen to me again. Boss very nice. Also his employee. It was still a nice evening.

The food is absolutely top notch! The service is great! Fast, very hard-working, courteous and friendly waiters! Very child friendly! Great selection of food, large menu, with many great dishes! The only suggestion for improvement would be a higher quality table setting and the menu is also very simple. The use of higher quality materials would be desirable here.

Top staff, very friendly, even the boss personally asked how we were and whether we wanted anything else. Ouzo free before the meal and, if you wish, free after the meal, but no obligation 🙂. The food tasted very good 👍. However, the tzatziki could use more garlic! The ambience seems a bit old-fashioned, but hopefully it will be changed soon! More modern and please designed in the Greek style blue/white 🙏🙂. Greek music was playing in the background, which gave me the feeling of being on holiday in Greece 👏😎. We'll be back 🙂👍

Our favorite Greek restaurant in Bochum. Food always tastes great and the service is very friendly and attentive. There is a large indoor area and a beer garden. The large Alexander plate is my recommendation.

This was our second time eating there. Compared to other Greek restaurants, the portions are rather small and the taste is average. We decided not to visit the restaurant anymore.

NOT TASTY!!! UNFRIENDLY!!! EXPENSIVE!!! If you want to eat delicious food and are looking for good service, you should give this “restaurant” a wide berth. From the inside it's more of a pub atmosphere. Food very greasy, not tasty and overpriced. The employees were very unfriendly and also overcharged the bill. If you talk about it, people will assume that you don't have any money. We go to a lot of restaurants and this was the worst since 2018. We will NEVER go there again! Even if we were given money for food, we would refuse it. We advise others to do the same.

Food was very tasty. But it was very crowded and you were sitting table to table with other guests. You heard every word. Service was friendly, food came quickly.

The atmosphere is a bit old-fashioned. The waiter was very friendly. The food (the gyros was partly very fatty) wasn't bad, but it doesn't come close to our favorite Greek. The price-performance ratio was perfectly fine.

Service war ganz super, sehr freundlich, und es gab auch einen Ouzo aufs Haus. Essen war lecker, allerdings gab es keinen Sahne Gurken Salat, der Gurkensalat waren nur geschnittene Gurken (für 4,60€ geht das wirklich nicht klar). Auch der Salat war etwas einfallslos, frisch, aber wirklich nur bestehend aus 3 Zutaten. Das Restaurant war zu hell und etwas kalt. Es könnte wärmer eingerichtet werden und durch schönere Lampen könnte es eine gemütliche Atmosphäre haben. So hat es eher den Eindruck eines Imbisses gemacht, was etwas schade ist! Restaurant hat durchaus Potential :-)

Ambiente halt alt,aber o.k. Die Portionen vom Essen sind sehr klein geworden und man geht hungrig raus. Der Service schlecht,denn man bekommt auch kein 2.Getränk und wird leider auch nicht gefragt. Das Kinderschnitzel ist leider nur ein trockenes Steak.Als Schnitzel kann man es nicht bezeichnen. Wir sind total enttäuscht,denn nach der Rechnung muß man mehrmals fragen. Niemals mit Freunden hingehen,denn man muß alles alleine auseinander rechnen und das ist bei 3 Familien leider nicht immer einfach.Auf mehrmalige Anfrage bekommt man dann zum auseinander rechnen die Karte hingeschmissen und muß zusehen wie man es hin bekommt. Wir werden nicht wieder hingehen.

Etwas altbacken von der Einrichtung. Das Essen ist frisch und lecker. Es gibt auch zwischendurch Gerichte außerhalb der Karte. Der Service aufmerksam und sehr nett.

Ich war letztens mit meiner Freundin und einem anderen Pärchen da. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend aber nicht aufdringlich. Das Essen kam für alle 4 Personen zeitgleich und war durchaus schmackhaft. Das Ambiente hat mich sehr an die Wohnungseinrichtung meiner Oma erinnert. Leider gab es keinen direkten Durchgang vom Restaurant zum Biergarten und etwas wenig Mayonnaise. Dafür aber Ouzo für alle. Durchaus weiterzuempfehlen.

Wir waren vor Kurzem zu zweit dort und haben bei schönem Wetter draußen im Biergarten gesessen. Es gab für uns Vorspeise, Hauptgericht und Nachtisch und alles war wirklich super lecker und preislich angemessen! Super lecker nicht das letzte mal dort gewesen. Wir waren etwas unsicher wegen einigen schlechten Bewertungen. Die waren scheinbar woanders gewesen.

Eine Bewertung war nicht möglich. Auf der Homepage waren Betriebsferien vom 20.07.23 ausgewiese, als wir am 05.07.23 vor dem Restaurant standen, hatten sie bereits zu.

Unfassbar unfreundlicher Kellner. Es ist mir schleierhaft wie solche Leute im Restaurant arbeiten können. Behauptet wir haben kein Geld auf unserer EC Karte dabei läuft sein griechischer Kartenleser nicht korrekt. Dann wird der noch frech. Richtiger Saftladen.

Sehr altes Ambiente, Bahnhofstyle. Firmenfeier gehabt. Es war sehr enttäuschend, sehr unfreundliches Servicepersonal. Vorherige Absprachen wurden nicht eingehalten, man fühlte sich abgefertigt. Speisen waren kalt, Preisniveau für das was auf dem Teller war, nicht gerechtfertigt. Für außer Haus Verpackung wurden 10€ Gebühr genommen. Und die absolute Krönung war, dass man 22.30 Uhr abkassiert wurde mit der Aussage man würde jetzt schließen, die Öffnungszeiten sagen was anderes….es fühlte sich wie ein Rausschmiß an, unmöglich. Dieses „Restaurant“ kommt nie wieder in Frage.

Ich war gestern mit meiner Familie dort essen. War sehr überrascht von der Freundlichkeit und dem Ambiente. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Die Karte ist sehr übersichtlich und wir hatten recht zügig das bestellte am Tisch. Sehr zu empfehlen dieses Restaurant.

Haben dort 2 mal gegessen und einmal abgeholt. Sehr leckeres Gyros, Bifteki und Souvlaki. Zaziki und Metaxasauce auch sehr gut. Dazu ein sehr netter Gastgeber. Wir kommen wieder.

Der Grieche ist nicht empfehlenswert. Der Salat war schon lieblos...da sank die Erwartung auf das Hauptgericht...Der Athos Teller, welcher das Haus repräsentieren soll, ist leider ein Witz. Für 20 Euro bekommt man Pommes mit Gyros..Das Schweine Filet war so klein, dass es im Gyros untergegangen ist. Das Lammkotelet erwarte ich geschmacklich einfach besser. Tsatsiki ist nicht selbst gemacht und aus einem Gastroeimer. Zudem ist das Ambiente wirklich alt und in die Jahre gekommen. Man wird aber freundlich und schnell bedient. Das ist ein Pluspunkt. Geschmacklich ist es ok. Dennoch verstehe ich nicht, warum dieses Restaurant so gut besucht wird. Für die Hälfte des Geldes bekommt man mehr in einer Pommesbude. Sorry, ist so.

Wir waren nun zum zweiten Mal hier, und das Essen war wieder ganz hervorragend und reichlich. Ich denke, das wird unser Stammgrieche. Nichts überkandideltes, einfach richtig gutes griechisches Essen zu moderaten Preisen und einem sehr netten und zuvorkommenden Wirt!

Es war wieder toll. Ein Essen im Athos, ein Essen bei Dimi, ist ein Essen bei guten Freunden. Es ist immer ein Plätzchen frei, auch wenn man erst kurz vorher anruft. Bevor überhaupt etwas zu essen bestellt wurde, steht schon der Ouzo auf dem Tisch, völlig egal, ob man mit dem Gutscheinbuch dort essen geht oder regulär. Die Essen wurden zügig an den Tisch gebracht, es gab keine langen Wartezeiten. Die Speisen selbst sind sehr schmackhaft und für mein Dafürhalten nicht nicht zu sehr an die deutsche Küche angepasst. Wer hier hungrig wieder aus dem Lokal geht, dem ist eigentlich nicht zu helfen. Auch die Preise sind in den aktuellen Zeiten absolut in Ordnung. Ein Bier für unter 3 €, da kann man wirklich nicht meckern.Alles in allem also wieder ein sehr gelungener Abend.
