Moderate enthusiasm. Carp was "okay" - but I know it better. I thought the service was so-so... I came, after waiting a bit and not being spoken to, I chose one of the two free tables that weren't designated and was then told quite rudely that I couldn't just sit down, the table was already reserved - Unfortunately it's not marked that way. After I thought it was rude and then stood up again to leave, the two service staff then argued that the table was free and I then sat down again - only to be insulted by a guest next door and one at the table opposite that it was impossible Just sit down, etc. - I have to give credit to the service lady for trying to stop the other two guests from complaining, but she only succeeded to a very limited extent. Sorry... but with such regular guests it spoils my desire to come back. I hope that your regular guests remain loyal to you forever, otherwise you might run out of (new) guests at some point.

Oberasbach – Franconian gastro desert I am a 76-year-old pensioner who lives alone and on Sunday, September 15th, 2024, I thought about eating a delicious Franconian sauerbraten with cabbage and dumpling and sauce again after many years. Since I have lived in Oberasbach since 1990, I of course know all the inns in the area and first looked at the menu from the Black Cross in Alt-Oberasbach online. Of course, as always, there was a Franconian sauerbraten, and in a normal and small portion, which is always particularly convenient for me as I get older. I can no longer manage the large portions, I don't like taking doggy bags with me, and my upbringing forbids throwing food away. So I get in the car and drive the two km to the Black Cross. The inn is very busy at 5:30 p.m., but I still find three free tables for four people each and take one. Then the waitress comes and doesn't ask me what I would like to drink but rather whether I have made a reservation. I didn't. She explained to me kindly but regretfully that I couldn't stay there and had to leave again. The long-established Franconian inn Kettler right behind the Black Cross is now closed and only offers an online delivery service from Friday to Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. But I didn't want to go to our Italians, Greeks and Chinese. With the Franconian Sauerbraten in mind, we insisted on Franconian cuisine. Well, I thought about it for a moment, I'll go to Lind to the Linder Grube. I've had good meals there several times in the past. Unfortunately it was closed due to vacation. Not far away there is the morning sun in Anwanden, well known in the wider area for good Franconian food, but the inn is also closed. On the weekend you can only pick up meals if you order them in advance and then eat them at home. Then I remembered the St. Johannes-Klause in Oberasbach. There was a football game on the sports field. The door was wide open, possibly for changing rooms or toilets in the basement, only the door to the restaurant was locked. A viewer then informed me that the inn had been closed since July. Then I thought of the Altenberg Brauhaus. But it was also closed. When I got to that point, I lost the anticipation of the Franconian sauerbraten. Of course I could have driven over to Zirndorf to the brewery or to the Altstadtklause. But I didn't like it anymore. I drove back up Rothenburger Straße, right over to Wigner and right down to Yugoslaven in the Hotel Adria and ate Cevapcici.

People are used to Franconian rudeness, but this unfriendly service borders on rude. If you have the audacity to NOT make a reservation, you will get derogatory comments that you have to wait at least 45 minutes for your food (don't guests who have reserved at the same time have to??). The food is really great, no question, but the unfriendly service is unacceptable. I would like to support the local gastronomy... but not this one (anymore).

Very friendly, attentive and quick service. We were passing through and discovered it by chance. The sauerbraten is extremely tender and we can also recommend the Schäuferle. We were lucky and got a spot straight away without a reservation.

Right on the street and yet so cozy. We were here after the fun park and were skeptical at first. But after we got a nice seat in the beer garden, the staff were totally impressed with the service and meals. We can only warmly recommend this location. The food was very tasty with sumptuous dishes and fair prices. The children came first and then us. As it should be. Service seems to be as important as quality here. We'd love to come back again.

Very nice service. Food was excellent, there is also a good selection of vegetarian dishes. Salad with fried feta cheese and mango dressing won my heart. Never had such a delicious salad.

Were there twice again after a long time as part of the church fair. Very nice people and home-style food. We had the mini Schäufele and the normal Schäufele as well as shish kebab with fries, all perfectly prepared, definitely worth visiting again. We just didn't like the side salad and coleslaw 100%.

Wanted to spend a nice birthday there with friends. Table was ordered, very cramped for 6. The boss's friendliness left something to be desired. Food was very good and came very quickly. After the first drink you couldn't see or hear anything anymore. Nobody cared anymore whether you wanted dessert, coffee or a second drink. As a host, I felt very ashamed. Empty plates and empty glasses in front of my guests. Even after asking to pay, we still had to wait about 10 minutes until the bill came. Conclusion: For a farm with these prices (quality of the food was great) you would expect a different service. You didn't feel welcome

We were there at half past seven that week. We both had the Cordon Bleu. We didn't expect anything special given the price. But the meat and especially the mushroom sauce were an absolute stunner. As soon as we go on vacation nearby again, the restaurant will be a must-see trip.

From the outside...well...the inside is rather rustic and cozy. The food is absolutely recommended. Price performance more than okay.

We have been to this place many times and we have always enjoyed it, the food is excellent, as is the beer, the staff unfortunately does not speak English, but we have always understood each other somehow and they are very hospitable and kind to the children. Recommended for those who want a real German dinner made for locals and not for tourists.

We had a birthday party on October 2nd with lunch and coffee at the “Schwarzes Kreuz”. We deliberately waited before making the assessment and asked around the family. There is only positive things to report. The quality, portions, table decoration, service and the kitchen team were perfect! Recommended at any time!

Were there for the second time on a Sunday at 11.30 a.m. The restaurant is completely occupied for one time, so you wait forever for the food. We got the food at 12.45 and the tables were reassigned at 1.30 p.m.??? You don't really feel welcome if you're allowed to leave straight away. Maybe you should work on the organization and use different times so that the guests leave happy afterwards. Food was good, service was great too, but what do you do if the staff can't keep up?

Cheese noodles? Weird cheese sauce, no fried onions, fried normally. It doesn't work that smoothly. Different types of cheese? Gratinated? Not again. 1 hour waiting time is added.

A typical Franconian farm, good middle class, friendly staff, large portions and good beer at affordable prices. Even card payment would have been possible. The chop and the bratwurst are recommended.

Today on December 26th, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. we ordered a table for 12 people. We got food at 3:15 p.m. My experience was too few staff. Service was friendly but it changed a lot of things and the rooms are far too small and the food is still worthy of improvement took too long LG.

Wir mussten am 1. Weihnachtsfeiertag etwas länger warten, aber es hat sich auf alle Fälle gelohnt. Die viertel Gans, die Gänsebrust und der Karpfen waren top. Personal sehr freundlich.

Hallo herrschaften😁 Wir haben bei diesen Restaurant gegssen 🥩 Ich habe ein courdon bleu verspeist😂 habe da aber bedrücklich schlechte nachichten 😬 Unzwar sah und schmeckte der Käse von meinen courdon bleu wie kleber😵Das ist einer von zwei Kritik Punkten 🔴 Würde dieses Restaurant nur für veganer/in empfehlen 🥦

Food was great, the staff were excellent. The best part was the walls were covered were covered in vines giving it a unique look.

Sehr schmackhafte Gerichte. Vom Flammkuchen , Spinatknödel, C.Bleu, Schweinebraten und alles sehr lecker. Bedienungen waren sehr freundlich. Schön das es noch fränkische Gaststätten gibt.

Bedienungen waren sehr freundlich, schnelle Bedienung. Essen war Vorzüglich, Sauerbraten schmeckte wie ein Sauerbraten, alles selbstgemacht, von Suppen bs hin zur Soße. War ein Vorzügliches Essen.

Meine Familie und ich holen hier sehr oft essen, vor allem in letzter Zeit während des Lockdowns. Es gibt absolut nichts auszusetzen, sehr leckeres Essen!

Wir hatten verschiedene Gerichte mit Pfifferlingen, Schnitzel und Klöße und alles war seeehr lecker! Der Service war sehr freundlich und schnell, insbesondere zum Kind. Sehr zu empfehlen :)

Leider darf man ja im Moment nicht vor Ort essen. Aber auf´s Schäuferle kann der Franke schwer verzichten. Also haben wir dieses mal zwei kleine "Schäuferletogo" vorbestellt. Die Kniedler (Klöse) wurden mit der Sauce getrennt vom Schäuferle verpackt. Dadurch blieb die Schwarte super knusprig. Auch auf den Wunsch nach "extra viel Sauce" ist ohne langes blabla eingegangen worden. Vielen Dank an den Rene mit seinem Team für das gelungene Mittagessen.
