I'm sorry but I actually have to give it 5 stars, as a native of Dresden I haven't been there for ages. We visited the outdoor area on Sundays with a prior reservation. Our service was great, friendly, attentive and experienced. The portions were large, fresh and damn tasty, I didn't expect such good quality. I and we were very satisfied, the soft ice cream at the end really picked me up. Please check it out, I definitely recommend it. You have to know!

We had the herring, goulash and the macaroni with sausage goulash. Everything was super delicious 😋!!! A really good restaurant!

The food was great, after the waiter's brief advice we decided on the small portion. There was liver and roast beef. Despite the small portion, the plate was very well filled (we even took something with us). We were there for the first time, very satisfied and would like to come back.

If you are in the area: a very good place for traditional food and big is really big. The atmosphere is also completely back in time ..... We enjoyed it ..... and we understand the practical aspect of oilcloth .... but that could be a bit more decorated.

Very tasty (East) German cuisine. Wide selection of dishes that can be ordered as a regular or small portion. Reasonable prices, great service, nice atmosphere. Reservations recommended, we were there in the evening during the week and the seats outside were all occupied.

It's always nice to take a seat in this historic ambience. The staff was extremely friendly, Saxony, the way I like it. The cuisine is excellent, it really tastes like grandma's. The portions are extremely generous. I recommend the small portion because then the soup and dessert go well together. I had the Grützwurst: super tasty, well seasoned, also the sauerkraut. Unfortunately, I'm probably not allowed to use the colloquial term here.

We have been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed. The menu features real home-style food such as blood gruel sausage, which you rarely get in a restaurant anymore. The decor is nostalgic and appropriate. Every dish tastes very good and the waiting time is not long. The prices are reasonable. The service was very friendly and quick. I would definitely make a reservation at the weekend and in the run-up to Christmas.

Delicious food, quietly located on a side street!

The food as well as the ambience was excellent. Unfortunately, on Sunday afternoon, June 16th, 2024, our young waitress, who did a really courteous, friendly job, was violently yelled at by her superior/male colleague in our presence. She should now bring the soup to the guests right away, even though she was holding a full tray of drinks in her hand. When she pointed this out to him, he shouted at her that she should listen to him and do what he asked of her. We felt very, very sorry for the waitress and it is really extremely shameful. I hope this review is read so that the incident can be dealt with again.

An absolute recommendation for German cuisine. The price-performance ratio is also good. The portions are large, even a small portion fills you up well. The cellar was accommodating and friendly and you felt like you were in good hands. The courtyard to sit in is right on the street, which is the only thing that might be a bit annoying. We recommend!!! In summer you can sit in the beer garden in a wonderful ambience. There are both shaded and sunny places. The atmosphere inside the restaurant really looks like grandma's. The staff is very friendly, accommodating and fun to have. Ordered drinks arrive within a few minutes and, given the relaxed atmosphere, the food doesn't take long to arrive. You can fill your stomach with plenty of portions, especially because it tastes very delicious.

What a place, as an old Ossi you feel like you are traveling back in time. We are from Greifswald, I would like to have a restaurant like this anywhere, the food and the team are great. We'll definitely see each other again the next time we visit Dresden. I just recently received a letter from the tax office, a final reminder, and I said to my wife that they would probably close soon too!!!!!

Went there again after many years - and the food was simply delicious, just as I remembered it. But don't let the name "Grandma" fool you: there's nothing old-fashioned about the food, the cuisine is very contemporary. The service should be highlighted: it was very friendly and attentive and had a very pleasant calmness that even gave us time to briefly cuddle with our dog (and wash our hands afterwards, of course). It was a thoroughly successful evening, thank you very much!

Cold reception, generally unfriendly to us travelers but friendly to locals. Over filled inside dining area. Dry pork schnitzel with over cooked potatoes. Carrots were under cooked. Water was tap water infused with gas bubbles. BUT the asparagus soup was outrageously good & hot.

This restaurant is described as "child friendly". The service should also be particularly “accommodating”. This review only applies to the older employee. We've had the "pleasure" with this several times now. Basically, he is not able to recognize children as independent personalities, which can certainly be addressed at the age of 6 and do not have to communicate through their parents. He also likes to come to the table and discipline the child accordingly. His communication is far removed from any idea of ​​service. If I'm not at peace with my personality, I shouldn't work in service. You just have to be able to forget yourself in order to be able to concentrate on the guest. Those in charge of this restaurant should take a closer look at their way of dealing with customers.

A feast for the senses: Incredibly nice ambience in the style of grandma's times and delicious food make this restaurant a must in Dresden! We had a fantastic evening with a group of 12 people. The service was incredibly nice and accommodating. The food was excellent and served very quickly. The price-performance ratio was also very good. The selection of solid home-style cooking with a focus on East German dishes is appropriately supplemented by seasonal items (asparagus season). Most (all?) dishes are offered in large and small portions, for normal or large appetites. The service could seem a little more professional and contemporary, but it has an authentic and endearing charm.

Small portions are absolutely sufficient here, but unfortunately I got the large one even though I ordered the small one. Since everyone at the table ordered for smaller ones, they wanted to ask if something was not understood. The Königsberger meatballs as such were good, but the sauce and rice unfortunately had no taste. The frozen vegetables were not well cooked. Other dishes at the table were probably quite good. Definitely too expensive in terms of price. Apple spritzer for €5.60 is outrageous.
