Just like Grandma used to make! The whole place and especially the food! It feels like time has stood still.

Excellent food and friendly service. What I really appreciate is that I can order any dish in a smaller portion. This eliminates the need for a separate children's menu. Tip: Reservations are essential; you'll likely have a hard time finding a table without one.

The waiters were exceptionally friendly. We were worried our little ones might be too noisy, but they were very accommodating and even brought coloring books. The children were patient and waited patiently. We had a reservation for 5 pm, but the other tables were already booked. It was wonderfully relaxed and festive – thank you so much.

It's really worth going to "Grandma's" place. Friendly welcome, cozy atmosphere, and the dishes we ordered were top-notch. The duck leg was tender and not dry at all, the dumplings were fantastic, and the red cabbage was just like Grandma's. The roulade was also perfect, and the pork tenderloin was amazing. Thanks to the team at "Grandma's" for the wonderful lunch and the lovely time we spent with you.

I love this place and atmosphere. The goulash was the best that I've ever had. The cheese soup was also great. It was really warm home dishes. The meat ball with white sauce was okay but not my favorite. I would highly recommend Goulash and cheese soup 💓

A wonderfully charming and lovingly decorated atmosphere, with lots of old things. Oilcloth tablecloths with little doilies, just like Grandma used to make. The food was just as delicious as Grandma's, with portions just as generous. Liver, Königsberger Klopse (meatballs), and even a bit of a lingering nostalgia factor 😱. Everything was just like it used to be 🎉.

Visit on Sunday, October 5, 2025 During our stay in Dresden, with a hotel in the 'Cotta' district, where Grandma also lives, we spontaneously stopped in without a reservation and were lucky. Despite the early hour (around 4:00 p.m.), we got the last available table, as all the others were reserved and there are only a limited number of tables anyway (ground floor/first floor). We were truly lucky with the Gaststätte Oma (Grandma's Restaurant). Before our vacation, I had researched a selection of restaurants/inns in Dresden where we could eat, but I wasn't sure it would be as nice and, above all, delicious. You are literally transported back to the good old days. As soon as you enter, you are visibly greeted by Grandma, and the interior of the restaurant is a veritable treasure trove for antique collectors. The only minor problem my partner encountered was being able to read the map, which was printed in the old script. Order: > Green soda, 0.33l bottle for €3.40 > Red soda, 0.33l bottle for €3.40 > Pumpkin and carrot soup with roasted pumpkin seeds (small) for €5.30 > Kasper Schlich's pork goulash with apple red cabbage and Bohemian dumplings for €21.10 (regular) and €16.80 (small) > Homemade quark balls with apple sauce for €7.90 > ​​Grandma's soft ice cream, frozen in a cup (various flavors) > Mango vanilla for €3.00 > Espresso (small) for €3.30 > Blackcurrant liqueur, 4cl, for €5.10 > Elbsandsteiner beer, 4cl, for €5.40 Summary: World class... A very nice restaurant where the name says it all. It's like grandma's old living room, with beautiful accents and a lovingly designed interior. The food is also excellent, traditionally German, with a changing menu, yet you still get a taste of the East. It's a perfect fit, it tastes good, highly recommended.

We were looking for a classic restaurant. This one met our expectations perfectly. It's like grandma's day, but there aren't too many seats. You can sit downstairs or upstairs via the stairs. It's like being in your living room. The food was so delicious, fresh, and simply amazing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Really pleasant. We spontaneously stopped by for the first time today. We received a very friendly welcome and managed to get a table without a reservation. However, we were advised that next time we should call ahead and make a reservation. The staff were polite and attentive the entire time. The food was excellent, and we will definitely return when we're in the area.

With such a wonderful atmosphere, great service, and wonderful food, there were naturally no seats available at first. But after a short wait, we were allowed to sit at a table. It really is like eating at grandma and grandpa's in the old days, so we will definitely be back. Huge portions at fair prices. !!!!! Be sure to call ahead and reserve a table, otherwise you might miss out if there are no seats left!!!!!

Recommended well-cooked dinner, lunch etc., remember to book a table in advance. The place is small and many had to be turned away. The food is often made from old recipes. Another plus in the menu is the option to choose a normal portion or a small portion. My female companion chose a small and was satisfied with the food.

I stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant by chance. You walk in and immediately feel at home. It's lovingly decorated, and the people who work there radiate warmth. The food is also incredibly delicious. We'll be back!

Wow, small, great, super friendly. Even though they were fully booked, they had a soft spot for us and let us stay. The appetizer soups (cheese soup and pumpkin soup) were worth coming here alone. Google recommended it, and we can't help but do the same. Service was excellent on the first floor, too. The friendly young lady was up and down the stairs so often, RESPECT. Main courses like grandma's would have made, generous portions, perfectly seasoned. No frills. The dessert was the perfect way to round off the evening. It's been at least 20 years since I had cold turkey. And it was a trip back in time to my grandma. Thank you

All in all, very good. Unfortunately, the schnitzel didn't come with any sauce as standard. This made the dish a bit dry overall – I'm not sure why it was served with just potatoes and carrots. Otherwise, the taste was good. The portions were also very large.

Wonderfully delicious...eating like mom used to make. There's nothing to complain about with the food; they still cook according to tradition (and learned it from grandma). We would have liked another beer, but the waiters were just too busy. I found the prices a bit steep, but the portions were filling enough, so the price was absolutely justified. A friend recommended this restaurant to me, and it has now become my new favorite restaurant in Dresden. The server was courteous and friendly. The restaurant was lovingly decorated and cozy. Today, after a few years, I'm writing an updated review. I don't want to waste too much time on the food today, as the quality and taste have remained consistently excellent over the years. It tastes like Grandma's, the portions are just like Grandma's, and who knows, maybe Grandma's cooking here. My special thanks and praise today go to the staff. Always very attentive and friendly, and always with a funny and quick quip (especially Dennis deserves special mention here). All of you make guests feel welcome in an exceptionally comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant business is certainly not an easy job, and in the over 30 years you've been in business, you've certainly experienced a lot. It's all the more wonderful that you live a consistent lifestyle and remain true to your concept. You're doing everything you do exactly right. Very nice interior, as if time had stood still. Only the modern cash register system doesn't fit. :-) The food was also very tasty, and the service was pleasantly attentive. Card payments (including Visa) were generally no problem and welcome, but payments with virtual cards like Google Pay aren't possible. The card must be inserted. The terminal would probably support it, but displays the error message "please use chip." Apparently, it was deliberately configured to prevent contactless payments. A shame.

Beautiful, nostalgic decor, nothing to complain about. Unsuitable for gourmets, too much cheap pork. My grandmother had porcelain plates, and this brown ceramic crockery is so unappealing.
