Hearty home cooking, decent portions, but I would say primarily meat dishes. A rustic atmosphere - a bit cramped. We like to come and often. Reservations are advisable, it is always busy when we are there.

If there were more stars I would give them. I have a new favorite restaurant. The rustic ambience is rounded off by very nice staff and soooo delicious food. Real home cooking at humane prices. We had the liver and the grützwurst. A pleasure. We can also highly recommend the delicious soft ice cream. We'll be back very soon Grandma.

Great home cooking and a stylish ambience like grandma’s!

Delicious food, nice staff. Totally in the GDR grandma style. Whoever likes it. It's not my taste, but it's not called "Restaurant Grandma" because of course the style fits perfectly. And many people who didn't experience the GDR experienced it there. We sat in the garden in the sun and were very happy. We'd love to come back.

We got the tip from the internet and the good reviews also made us curious. What we were offered there surprised us even more positively than we expected. We really felt like we used to visit our grandparents in their living room - this restaurant wasn't any bigger. But it was so comfortably furnished - even the old TV was still running. When the food came I was speechless and that really rarely happens. I've never seen such a huge portion (rostbrätl with fried potatoes and salad) and it was so delicious - it was awesome. I would have had enough for half, but my husband helped me after he finished his brawn. Price-performance ratio is more than good and we would like to give an additional star if it were possible. We can only recommend this small, rustic restaurant with its friendly staff to everyone. Conclusion: You can't really describe it - you have to experience it.

Totally cozy, nice staff, beautifully presented plates and amazing portions and absolutely delicious! That was our highlight today. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely stop by again!

The two of us ate there today and I have to say that everything was just right. From the service to the price range, quality of the food. The first restaurant where I didn't have to add seasoning myself. The three people behind us started a really embarrassing discussion with the waiter, which he shot down very professionally. An absolute recommendation from me!! Thumbs up

A restaurant that stays true to its name in terms of ambience and also has a beautiful outdoor area. Small and nice! Good home-style food in 2 portion sizes, although the small version is probably sufficient for most people. This is a normal portion. Very friendly and clear staff. The kilometers of stairs to the upper dining area are plenty for the employees. Toilets do not have barrier-free access as they are upstairs. Structurally there is no other way. A historically old, small half-timbered house. We can absolutely recommend this restaurant. Prices fair, food fresh. Plenty of free parking nearby. In the pictures there is Rostbrätl with fried potatoes and goulash with dumplings. The only “shortcoming” is that beer sizes are 0.3l and 0.4l. That doesn't make much sense. Standard is 0.5l in the East.

A small location that is a must. Very nice staff and excellent food. The atmosphere is simply quaint and cozy. A little tip for someone who is there for the first time....it's not without reason that the dishes can be ordered in small and large portions ☺️

Even if we arrived at the last minute, we were warmly welcomed. The food came quickly and tasted very tasty. More than recommended. The ambience is awesome. Lovingly designed. If we are in Dresden again we would love to come back.

the very first German restaurant that I have to give a 10/10!! Amazing food, great ambience and very friendly staff (+ they could speak English, happily) 🫶🏻 We had the Schnitzel and Goulash, both were excellent, and ended with the basic but tasted like heaven chocolate soft ice-cream. We would definitely come back whenever we visit Dresden 💯❤️

Amazing food and great service. It’s not even expensive at all. What more can I ask for? We had Schnitzel and Goulash. The Schnitzel was moist, the best Schnitzel I’ve ever had, even better than what I had in Austria. The beer was great, even a simple chocolate ice cream cup was wonderful: creamy and not too sweet at all. It’s crowded and you’ll need reservation but it’s worth it 11/10.

Very special look back in time, tasty food but large portions, worth a visit

A really delicious local restaurant in Dresden. I visited every day during my stay in Dresden. You can enjoy very classic German cuisine that tastes like your grandmother cooked it. The regular size is very generous, and for people who don't eat a lot, a smaller size is enough. A restaurant I will visit next time I come to Dresden. I highly recommend it.

Simply great. We were there for our birthday and have to say it was just great. The service was super friendly and was great with children. The food came quickly, hot and in great quantity. All I can say is: a great experience and a great evening that we were treated to.

We have now been to the “Grandma” restaurant several times. The dishes are rustic, delicious and the quantity is just like grandma would have made. :-) The service is very nice and very fast, we would be happy to come back!

Such a quaint and tastefully decorated restaurant with a lot of attention to detail. The food, selected from a well-stocked menu that matched the ambience, was very good. As a highlight after the meal, there is also the traditional soft ice cream on offer in various flavors.

Unfortunately we never got around to dessert because the hearty one was so good!!! Schnapps from the region are very tasty, especially after the meal!! Wines are also very tasty and very well selected!!! It's very clean Very well maintained The staff is very friendly and quick too! Reservation of a table is an advantage!!! We come by regularly and check that everything is OK, just in case you get a little hungry in between!!! Please keep it up!!

Attention, contactless payment is not possible. Neither with a cell phone nor with a card, incomprehensible in this day and age. The food was good so far and the restaurant is nicely decorated, just like in grandma's time, unfortunately the card payment was too.

We ate together as a large family, about 10 people including 2 children. We were served very quickly, the food came quickly and the portions were very generous. You can choose between large and small, a small portion is more than enough. Everything seemed homemade. However, there is a rather small vegetarian selection and no vegans. But you should know beforehand that you are going to your German restaurant with home cooking. The waiter initially seemed very friendly. However, this changed during our visit. First, he told one person in our family to concentrate on his plate and not hand him the glasses. Everything is still okay and understandable. But when we wanted to order dessert while some of us were still eating our main course, he said to us, "Are you a little selfish? I'll wait to take the order until everyone's finished!" After another attempt to order dessert, we were told that this would now be ignored as long as there were still plates on the table. Such patronizing behavior is an absolute disgrace. We are guests and decide for ourselves when we want to eat something and not the waiter, especially since children, impatient by nature, longed to eat ice cream. This demonstration by a guest ruined the entire atmosphere. Even the good food cannot convince you to visit again.

An inviting, cozy, warm restaurant that shines with really courteous staff! The food evokes nostalgia, there are really large portions for a very fair price, and it should be mentioned that, for example, frozen vegetables are used. We definitely recommend a reservation! Also worth mentioning: Despite the beautifully done old furnishings, the toilets are modern and clean.

A wonderful ambience, the food is really great, as is of course the service. If you want to visit the restaurant on the weekend you should definitely make a reservation otherwise you have little chance of getting a seat.

Everything is just right here. From the friendliness to the service to the delicious food and of course the prices. We received a very friendly welcome. The drinks came very quickly and the food was a delight. The portions are rated 1 for price and performance. For a normal eater, the smaller portions are sufficient, as the normal portion is very large. The service was always there so we didn't miss anything. There's no way you can do anything wrong here. On the contrary, you will go back again and again. My tip: reserve in advance. 👍

Here I found myself transported back to my childhood. Like in grandma's apartment. Old music is playing, and the Rabbit and the Wolf is playing on an old television in the basement. The decoration is also a journey through time. Everything fits perfectly here 👍👍 The staff is very friendly and nice. Everyone will find something great on the menu; it's not too big, but it's freshly prepared. Today, Monday, I made a reservation - and it ended up being full. I think that says a lot about the locality. Already in the beer garden we were greeted by a nice little fire in the fire bowl. In summer the beer garden is always very busy. Make a reservation urgently to get a table. Very clear visitor recommendation ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Five of us went here for dinner. We all enjoyed the food very much. If you're not that hungry, you should definitely only choose a small portion, because the normal portions are really plenty. We'll definitely come back again. 👍🏻😃 And we did that in January 2025 and didn't regret it because it was wonderful again.

We had our Christmas dinner at the Oma restaurant and loved it! The goose with dumplings and red cabbage was simply delicious - just like grandma's. Everything was perfectly seasoned and had that wonderful, traditional taste that was reminiscent of the past. The atmosphere was incredibly cozy, with sofas and stuffed animals that really made it feel homey. You immediately feel at home, almost like you're in your grandma's living room. A great experience that we can recommend to anyone who appreciates good food and a cozy, family atmosphere! We'll definitely be back.

We visited this location during our Dresden weekend and I can only recommend it with reservations! The restaurant is apparently a converted house on two levels, but that doesn't detract from your well-being and it's something completely different! The food is a dream, the menu isn't too big, but I personally always think it's good! Then you can usually assume that everything is freshly prepared, which is certainly the case here! The staff is nice and friendly! I have to say an overall successful visit! The price is also more than okay! Thanks for the nice evening and keep it up! Oh yes, we recommend making a reservation in advance here too!!!

We had booked a table on December 20th, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. This was also ready for us on time. The menu is small, but very... very fine. I had beef roulade. It tasted damn good. At the end I talked to the waitress about football, Dynamo Dresden and 1. FC Magdeburg. We are from Magdeburg and that day around 7:00 p.m. the meal was over and the mood was very depressed. The attack on our Magdeburg Christmas market changed a lot for us. Nevertheless, thank you for the outstanding hospitality and the great food.

Nice and fitting interior. Unfortunately, the menu actually reminds us of grandma's preparation. e.g. fried potatoes not crispy and without marjoram. The motto here is quantity over quality. Not my thing...too bad.

I've been there several times and have always been 100% satisfied. Rustic decor, super friendly service and very good cuisine. The portions are quite large and the prices are very moderate. When visiting Dresden, stopping there is a MUST!!!
