Gaststätte Hexe in Jena

Unfortunately, I'm not that enthusiastic. I don't quite understand many of the other comments. I've been going there occasionally for a few years now to get food. Usually when I'm too lazy to make something myself. The taste is okay to good. I'd say it's standard. You get what you expect. But I've had much better Asian food. The price-performance ratio is rather poor. Today I wanted to get something from there again, but decided against it because of the prices. Sometimes less is more. They've gone up significantly. I still have (not quite so) old flyers and can therefore fully understand how they've increased their prices. My friends felt the same way last weekend when we got food there. A big plus: it was quick. But compared to a restaurant not too far away, where you can get an entire buffet of the same quality for €20.00 and eat so much that you don't need anything else for three days, €12.50 for rice with duck and vegetables is quite a lot. But again, the taste was good, which is why I still go there every now and then. It's a real shame, of course, that they still don't accept card payments. One can only speculate as to why. I find the ambiance there uninviting at all. You can tell that there must have been a butcher's shop there before. But hey, they call themselves a bistro, not a restaurant. No sitting in, but takeout, yes.

We celebrated my birthday here today. We reserved in advance by email and pre-ordered a cake. There were 9 adults and 5 children in our party, and they reserved a large table for us outside because the weather was wonderful. The service was excellent, the cake was divine, and the drinks were very good. We were very happy ❤️ Highly recommended!

It's no longer open at lunchtime. I have a garden nearby and relied on the website, which stated it was open from 11:30 on weekends. No, it's no longer open at lunchtime…

Just had a drink there. I find wine prices in restaurants everywhere these days to be exorbitant. But at least here you get a decent one for the price.
