A group of old school friends and I go here regularly and I'm always impressed by the good food and Kölsch beer, and by the restaurant team as well.

As a Swabian, I'd say it's a typical Cologne pub. A very nice owner, from whom we learned a lot, and friendly service. A small menu, but everything is delicious and homemade. The chops were a dream. Reminds me of my childhood :-) Large portions! We'll be happy to come back next time we're in Cologne.

The atmosphere, food and drinks are the best.

I randomly wandered in a few years ago and I’m so happy I did. I now never miss a visit when I’m in Cologne from NYC. Traditional Cologne gastro pub with great owners, staff, and food. Very friendly & social crowd.

Based on the recommendation and invitation of our producer, we were invited to a cozy dinner with Kölsch beer. We were a large group and immediately felt warmly welcomed. As a guest in Cologne, I stumbled upon the Em Hähnche restaurant quite by chance – and what a stroke of luck that was! As soon as you enter, you feel the incredibly family-friendly atmosphere. The staff are not only super friendly, but exude a warmth that is rarely experienced these days. You feel welcome from the very first moment – ​​almost like being at the home of good friends. The food? Simply fantastic! Fresh, homemade, and prepared with lots of love. Every bite was a delight, and I can say with complete conviction: Everything is just right here. I wish I had discovered this restaurant sooner. For anyone who appreciates good food and genuine hospitality, Em Hähnche is a must. Such a cozy restaurant full of warmth...❤️ We stopped by David and Laura's ⭐️ place today with a really large group... We were personally greeted and given a very warm welcome. And it was precisely this passion and warmth that were palpable throughout. The food is incredibly delicious. We had the frigadelles with onions and the schnitzel with fried potatoes. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, there aren't 6 stars, which I would have liked to give. I've rarely felt so comfortable. Super friendly service, great food, and fair prices. If you're there, ask the owner about the history and you'll be surprised. Simply fantastic, worth a visit for any occasion. We were attending a training course with Ford in Cologne and were invited to this restaurant! The owners and waitresses gave us a very warm welcome and looked after us! Even special requests were accommodated! You could immediately see how passionate they are about their work! They live and love their work and their guests! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone! It's worth it, from the taste of the food to the service!

We were at Carnival, before an event here. The pub is very cozy and quaint, but still modern. The landlord and the waitresses were on the ball and very friendly. Unfortunately we didn't try the food here, but we will definitely do so in the future. We will come here again as we had a good time here and felt comfortable.

Em Chicken is a real gem! I was there last Thursday and it was just perfect. The rustic ambience, the delicious food and the warm service made the evening something special. It's just a bit narrow and a pub. But the food is fantastic and the staff is really nice! The menu is nothing special, but you can tell that the chef "knows his craft." There is great food without much fanfare. The restaurant does it exactly right. Everything is prepared to perfection. Finally schnitzel that's crispy, but is not fried to death. Priced more than fair. I've been there twice so far but I'd love to come back :)

Very small and rustic corner pub with a long tradition, which the new owner has been maintaining with heart and soul for just over 2.5 years. The staff including the boss are attentive, friendly and also available for a quick chat. I like the increased coziness and quaintness of the atmosphere.

We were in Koln tonight, ready to take a few days cruise along the Rhine tomorrow. We had booked overnight accommodation nearby, so went out to stretch our legs after a long re-routed train journey from Lille .We went into this old bar just for a drink, but immediately loved the warmth and atmosphere. The place was packed. Fabulous atmosphere. We sat at the bar, had a couple of drinks, then ordered a meal. Food unbelievably simple and totally delicious. Great evening. Made very welcome by the bar staff. Superb, unexpected evening.
