Well, that was a nice evening. Even though we had the restaurant to ourselves as part of a closed party with over 50 guests, this did not detract from the commitment of the entire team. Whether food, drinks or service, everything with the warmth you would expect from a real Cologne pub. Thank you again.

We were at Carnival, before an event here. The pub is very cozy and quaint, but still modern. The landlord and the waitresses were on the ball and very friendly. Unfortunately we didn't try the food here, but we will definitely do so in the future. We will come here again as we had a good time here and felt comfortable.

Em Chicken is a real gem! I was there last Thursday and it was just perfect. The rustic ambience, the delicious food and the warm service made the evening something special. The atmosphere was great, thanks to the great guests and the great team. You can feel Cologne hospitality here – I’ll definitely be back!

It's just a bit narrow and a pub. But the food is fantastic and the staff is really nice! The menu is nothing special, but you can tell that the chef "knows his craft." There is great food without much fanfare. The restaurant does it exactly right. Everything is prepared to perfection. Finally schnitzel that's crispy, but is not fried to death. Priced more than fair. I've been there twice so far but I'd love to come back :)

A really rustic Cologne corner pub!

Very small and rustic corner pub with a long tradition, which the new owner has been maintaining with heart and soul for just over 2.5 years. The staff including the boss are attentive, friendly and also available for a quick chat. I like the increased coziness and quaintness of the atmosphere.

Food is exceptional and personal very kind! It's always a pleasure to come here and to enjoy the great atmosphere!

We were in Koln tonight, ready to take a few days cruise along the Rhine tomorrow. We had booked overnight accommodation nearby, so went out to stretch our legs after a long re-routed train journey from Lille .We went into this old bar just for a drink, but immediately loved the warmth and atmosphere. The place was packed. Fabulous atmosphere. We sat at the bar, had a couple of drinks, then ordered a meal. Food unbelievably simple and totally delicious. Great evening. Made very welcome by the bar staff. Superb, unexpected evening.

Wow, Wow, Wow … where to start we sat outside with our dog, we had beer and schnitzel and wild sausages with potato salad, all recommendations from the host and WOW !!! The food was superb, the service was great, it’s a small Gem in Köln, don’t miss the chance to have some amazing food and service here the host is so welcoming !!!

A truly wonderful local pub - the food and atmosphere was excellent, the Kolsch kept coming, and the warmth and friendliness of the service was incredible. Made an Australian far from home feel very welcome, and I was happy to visit more than once during my stay - and I'll definitely be back!

We were just passing by and decided to go to this pleasant cafe. The food is very tasty, the beer is wonderful. Schnitzel is beyond praise! Fragrant grilled vegetables. Very friendly and nice hosts. Be sure to visit this place, you won't regret it. We are very glad that by chance we found ourselves in this place.

We found this place following reading other reviews on google. What an absolute find. Such welcoming owners and locals. The food was beautiful. From veal schnitzel to bratwurst to strudel, every plate was tasty and traditional. When the locals at the next table tell you it is the best food in Cologne then you know you are in the right place. Just a note, take cash as cards not accepted.

We came across this delightful little restaurant while on vacation during the Euros 2024. There was a private event in part of the restaurant but the owner went out of their way to find us a table with a view of the tv for the games. We had an amazing schnitzel dinner (best we had in our 2 weeks in Germany) and I had delightful potato cakes with various toppings! So delicious. And lots of local beer. The place has a lot of charm and was loads of fun. The owners were so friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend!

Was so happy to come across this lovely local restaurant. I had the tastiest veil schnitzel, and the owner Laura was very nice and attentive. Real little gem in just off the most crowded areas. Very pleasant experience. Highly recommend.

Once again we had a very nice evening there. Stopped by spontaneously and was warmly welcomed and served despite being overcrowded. There may always be a small gap for guests. You can eat and drink well here without hesitation. Fast, personal and perfect service despite two major events. In addition to Kölsch... wine or Prosecco also arrived at the recipient quickly and well chilled. Keep it up! You don't find that everywhere. See you soon

This bar is charming as hell. The veal schnitzel is delicious and the potatoes that come with it are perfectly fried with bacon & onion. The husband & wife running it are a delight; I felt like I was at home having a family dinner. Going back tomorrow for curryworst 😁

We were recently guests at “Em Hähnche” as part of a private party (birthday). Heard a lot, but haven't been there before... And what can I say, we were thrilled! Cozy, rustic pub, familiar, friendly and attentive service and delicious food. Starters and desserts were available in the form of small prepared portions directly from the counter, schnitzel, steak and grilled cheese, combined with various salads, were available in small portions so that you could try everything! We had a great evening

Beautifully quaint restaurant and restaurant on the corner! The food was super tasty and always fresh. The Kölsch comes quickly and the landlord and his family and team are super lovable and always in a good mood. Our Veedelswirtschaft, whether for the Kölsch after work, watching football or the big birthday party. We always like to come back and always feel comfortable!

Beautiful, lively Kölsch pub with great, professional, friendly service and a delicious schnitzel. Very clear recommendation, rightly packed on a Thursday evening.

You can quickly describe this pub with just one word - MEGA! The food is always delicious (try the Leberkäse, which is specially "imported" from Munich) and is always perfectly prepared by the chef. Host David is a real atmosphere and simply picks up everyone. The service is always great, it's super clean and sometimes you come in here in a mood where you ask yourself "What's going on here?". A surprise bag like no other. Small but mighty! 5 stars in every category you can imagine.

Good German cuisine, veal schnitzel was delicious

I was here on a Wednesday before the holiday and had a very nice evening! We sat outside, regularly had the chance to order something (so you weren't "forgotten" outside) and were always served quickly. We especially remember Laura very positively! We both had the Wiener Schnitzel, which I would really like to highlight here! It really tasted very good! Around curfew, loud music came on inside and people danced. All in all, a very nice evening that I would be happy to repeat!

The Em Hähnche is my favorite Kölsch pub. But it's much more than a pub, because the cuisine is really good: from simple brewery fare to delicious home-made roasts. The atmosphere is rustic, cozy. Very pleasant Cologne audience from the surrounding district. While I'm writing this, I'm immediately craving the next Kölsch at Em Hühnche... ;-)

Super brewery 2 minutes from Cologne Cathedral. Very kind staff who make you feel at home! Nothing to say about the food, top experience with typical food and unlimited beer, recommended

A quaint pub. We were there with a group and ate Cologne tapas. Really tasty. Laura's service was very quick, attentive and really nice. I forgot my cap there (why🍻?) but I was able to solve it easily 2 days later😇😅

Yesterday we celebrated my mother's 70th birthday with a private chicken party. What can I say ?! It was a perfect evening from start to finish with amazing food and the best service you could wish for. Starting with a Kölsch snack, Kölsche tapas, a great vitello tonnato, it continued with small plates of shrimp on vegetables, steak with potato gratin, sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage and fish with lukewarm potato and cucumber salad. The meal was rounded off with excellent desserts. All wishes were implemented absolutely perfectly. The guests were thrilled, mom was overjoyed and we found our favorite restaurant! Great class 👍🏻 Thank you, thank you, thank you Unfortunately I don't have any photos but I'm sure the host can post them here!
