The Gasthof zum Kaiser Friedrich impressed us in every way! The cozy atmosphere and the lovingly designed ambience make your stay a real pleasure. We were particularly impressed by the incredibly friendly and attentive service - hospitality really comes to life here! The food was excellent - perfectly prepared and with a great selection of dishes that left nothing to be desired. We would particularly like to emphasize that the inn is also ideal for corporate events. We were there with a larger group and were not only served excellently, but also received all-round support with the planning. The flexibility and professionalism of the team were convincing. Conclusion: Whether for a relaxed dinner, a family celebration or a company event – ​​the Gasthof zum Kaiser Friedrich is an absolute recommendation! We'll definitely be back.

After quite some time and also after a change of operator, we returned to the Kaiser Friedrich with friends. Surrounded by Maritima and Emperor Friedrich III. We were provided with rustic North German food by the friendly and committed service.

The staff are friendly. The food is very tasty. The ambience is great and the inn looks very inviting from the outside. The price-performance ratio is right here.

Der Gasthof Kaiser Friedrich hat uns rundum begeistert! Das Personal war ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam. Besonders das Essen war hervorragend – super lecker und dabei zu absolut fairen, bodenständigen Preisen. Ein besonderes Highlight war der ‘Preußenschluck’, den wir zum Abschluss probieren durften – einfach ein Muss! Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Das Restaurant hat ein tolles Ambiente. Da die Zahl der Plätze recht begrenzt ist, sollte man auf jeden Fall reservieren. Ansonsten darf man wieder gehen, was wir während des Essens mehrmals gesehen haben. Das Essen ist rustikal, gut bürgerlich und schmeckte sehr gut. Der Service war auch zuvorkommend und gut. Insgesamt eine gute Wahl.

Seit 10 Jahren haben wir unseren Stammtisch. Beim letzten mal wurden wir in eine Ecke gequetscht und bekamen nicht unseren reservieren Tisch so wie es die letzten 10 Jahre war. Außerdem wurde die Speisekarte zusammengestrichen aber die Preise stark erhöht. Das war unser letzter Besuch!

One of the oldest documented restaurants in the city. Authentic Bremen cuisine and ambience with history. Very professionally managed. Maximum gastronomy in the smallest space. The staff is very professional and always available for a chat. However, you should make a reservation in the evening as it is a very popular restaurant.

Nach einem guten ersten Eindruck veflüchtigte sich dieser leider im Laufe des Abends: Die erste Runde Bier war fix geliefert, die Bestellung für Essen (9 Personen mit unterschiedlichsten Wünschen) aufgenommen. Die Tischkarten wiesen schon darauf hin, dass es "wegen Denkmalschutz, kleiner Küche und frischer Zubereitung" länger dauern könnte - aber 1,5 Stunden sind dann doch etwas viel und die Portionen wurden überwiegend als zu klein empfunden. Als dem Besteller eines "Gin Tonic" dann nur das Tonic Water nebst Glas hingestellt wurde, reichte das urige Ambiente nicht mehr für eine befriedigende Bewertung. Schade eigentlich, war trotzdem ein netter Abend.

Det var vel nok en skuffelse at besøge denne restaurant, som vi er kommet på i mange år. Vi blev placeret i bagerste lokale - og glemt. Vi forlod stedet efter 30 minutter. Fandt et andet sted tæt på, hvor de tager sig af deres gæster. Nok sidste gang vi besøger Kaiser Friedrich.

Fantastisk pub med nydelig mat. Fin atmosfære, akkurat slik du forventer på en tysk brun pub. God mat og drikke. Hyggelig betjening.

I had "Schnetzeltes Madagascar", which is not explained in detail on the menu. When asked, they said it was with a hot sauce with red pepper. From my point of view, I got sliced ​​meat with a (pepper), mushroom and leek sauce. It tasted good, but wasn't in the least something I would associate with "Madagascar" - more like the sauce from the pork medallions in pepper cream sauce. ;) The staff, on the other hand, were without exception attentive and friendly. P.S.: Offering Holsten in a “traditional Bremen restaurant” has to be digested first. ;) The quality is quite okay and the price-performance ratio is justified.

Admittedly, we can't say anything about the food because the kitchen was already closed. But the employee tried to look after us and even called colleagues to see if they still had warm food! In the end we had kebab instead of tourist trap which was absolutely ok in terms of price/performance. We will definitely stop here next time!

We were given a table after a long wait, even though the right part of the establishment was empty. After sitting down we were utterly ignored, while guests arriving after us were given the menu and served with drinks. I eventually had to loudly ask for the menu which was reluctantly given and saw their unappetising, but expensive choice. Today we had lunch there with two people. I have never seen Lapskaus charge 4 euros for matjes for 14.50 euros. When ordering you could choose between rollmops or matjes but there was no mention of the additional charge. We also ordered herring. Here the salad garnish was sandy (not washed or washed inadequately). The tables outside are too small for 4 people to eat.

We have been visiting the restaurant for 40 years. We were there again on a Saturday with several foreign guests. There was a change of ownership a few months ago. We quickly discovered that the prices on the website did not match the prices in the restaurant. They are significantly higher. Overall, the prices are comparatively high. Much to our regret, the food was consistently not to our satisfaction. The side salad with the fish fillet consisted of a leaf of iceberg lettuce with canned tangerines. The fact that something like this still exists is more like the 1970s. The Büsum crabs were very cold ("fresh" from the package) and may have never been seen by Büsum. The salad side dish consisted of raw vegetables (carrots, beans, cucumber) from a can, scary. The fried potatoes with the dishes were also not tasty, soggy and tasteless. I haven't eaten such bad kale, garnished with pee, cooked sausage and miniature-sized smoked pork for a long time. I won't bother listing the individual dishes any further; they didn't meet our expectations in terms of taste or quality. The portions are also very small. We prefer fresh, good quality products; we can also buy ready-made products ourselves in the supermarket. By the way, it doesn't look good for children, because there's nothing suitable. Luckily our 10 year old boy made do with fried potatoes and 2 fried eggs for a mere €14.50. The restaurant is rustically furnished and the service is relaxed. Therefore a total of 2 points. You are welcome to go there for a draft beer, but I would advise against eating. And also from the seats near the entrance door, it is cold there and drafts like pike soup. We didn't express our disappointment during our stay. We didn't want to let it ruin our evening. It's a shame that such a traditional restaurant has obviously become more of a place for tourists.

Unfortunately we weren't very enthusiastic. The inn has a great location and ambience, which is why we, as day tourists, chose this restaurant. I didn't think the older gentleman who served us was very nice. First I was sitting in the wrong place in case guests wanted to sit at the other table (then I don't put 4 chairs at such small tables!), then I wanted to order and was hit, only lunch menu, so I left the card open like that. This could easily be communicated from the start. The waiting time for drinks and food was long, but I don't want to see that as a negative thing since the kitchen had just opened. We had Büsumer crabs with fried potatoes. Of course, like everywhere else, you can get them at the daily price. Unfortunately it wasn't anywhere. In the end we were surprised by the price of the bill. Crabs are expensive, that's for sure. The fried potatoes were really very bland, even though there was pepper and salt to season them. I would still actually like a basic seasoning. There was probably sand (?) in my husband's side salad, at least he said it crunched quite a bit. The beans were incredibly sweet. Unfortunately the visit was a bit disappointing.

Our goal for many years when we are in Bremen. There is food here that is as solid as it is delicious, so: tasty, expansive and embracing Bremen housewife/home cooking cooked with a lot of love. The portions are generous. The waitresses are careful, quick and friendly and we feel comfortable in the embracing darkness of the rustic guest rooms anyway. The Kaiser Friedrich is miles away from a tourist trap and because we are not the only ones who know this, reservations should be made in good time. It's really nice that the emperor still exists. ------- Last weekend we were guests at the Kaiser for the first time AFTER the change of operator. What's first noticeable is that the staff has stayed. Actually the rest too. The food still tastes good. The new patron can't replace Uwe - but he doesn't have to, because he's just as likeable in his own way and seems determined to change the emperor very gently at best. We think that's good and that's why the Kaiser remains our point of contact when we're in Bremen.
