The food was very good and the service was very friendly. The ambiance outside wasn't my cup of tea.

The food is always very good. The quality and taste are superb. Great dishes on the daily and weekly menu that you won't find everywhere. For example, Schäufele (a kind of shoulder of pork)! The service is always friendly and quick. We come here often and enjoy it. Casual and down-to-earth. But the food is excellent.

If you value a well-kept, rustic setting, reasonable prices, excellent, varied regional cuisine, and attentive, friendly service, this is the place for you. Culinary excursions with constantly changing dishes are also part of the daily routine! Whether in the beer garden or the dining room, the service is excellent! We highly recommend this restaurant! We'll be back!

We were just there for dinner. We called at lunchtime and made a reservation for dinner. By 6:30 p.m. it was full. The food is really good!

The two of us were at the Gasthof zum Fuchs. The inn itself seems a bit dated, but cozy. The menu offers classic home-style cooking – nothing fancy, but well-made. Among other things, we ordered a tarte flambée, which the menu said was topped with sun-dried tomatoes. Instead, it was served with fresh tomatoes. When we complained, we were told that the kitchen was being rearranged and they didn't have any sun-dried tomatoes on hand. Ironically, we had specifically ordered the tarte flambée with sun-dried tomatoes. Shortly afterward, they found some and offered to make it again – but we declined because we wanted to eat together. As a small compensation, they gave us two espressos on the house – and that's exactly how you should handle complaints: friendly, solution-oriented, and with a kind gesture. Conclusion: If you're looking for down-to-earth food in a relaxed atmosphere and don't expect Michelin-starred cuisine, this is the place for you. Mistakes can happen – what matters is how you deal with them. And that was solved well here.

A small, somewhat inconspicuous-looking inn with rooms for rent in the city center, about 5 minutes from the St. Lorenz Basilica, the Kornhaus, and the Residenz palace. There are plenty of parking spaces nearby, for example, at the Marstall building or on Memminger Straße. It is closed on Sundays. This family-run business currently offers a menu with various home-style dishes from Monday to Saturday. The daily specials, which change daily, are particularly noteworthy – for example, Sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage, and homemade salmon ravioli on creamed spinach. Both dishes, as well as the "Stroller Toast" with salad garnish, were very tasty, and the price-performance ratio is very good! It's nice that there are still inns like this that still cook fresh and seasonally. The salad garnish with the toast, for example, consisted of cauliflower, carrot, radish, and cucumber salad – all freshly prepared with excellent dressing. Three of us had lunch here, received very friendly service, and were all very satisfied. In the summer, there are even a few outdoor tables. June 17, 2025 - Four of us had lunch at the Gasthof Fuchs again and were once again delighted. From the beef broth with noodles, a meat and vegetable garnish, which tasted excellent, to the salad with turkey strips and venison goulash with spaetzle, all of the dishes showed that someone was cooking with love and skill. The friendly service will also remain in our memories, and we will definitely be back soon.

Good food at honest prices, very friendly service.

We've eaten here 4 times in the last 5 weeks, sometimes as a group of three, sometimes as a group of five, and it was always delicious and everyone was happy. Good down-to-earth local cuisine. Whether duck, onion roast, schnitzel, Kässpatzen, everything is super delicious. You can tell that the boss cooks himself, everything is tasty, tasty and good portions. No comparison to the well-known restaurants in the immediate area. Great keep it up.....

We sat in the beer garden. A very cozy atmosphere, very nice staff and delicious food at a good price-performance ratio. The portions were big! We recommend a dark beer from the tap. Always happy to come back to the Restaurant Zum Fuchs! There is even parking at the restaurant.

Today we were looking for a restaurant with local cuisine and came across “Zum Fuchs”. A quick phone call to see if there were still places available was very friendly. Once we got there, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the sun. The service was very friendly and very quick. The menu offers something for everyone and we were more than satisfied with our dishes. The portions for each of us were very sufficient, delicious and absolutely great for the price. The location is wonderfully quiet and there was quiet music in the background, which invited you to hum along every now and then. We can only warmly recommend the restaurant and may visit again during our holiday.

Nice little restaurant with good service and delicious food

We spontaneously went to the Fuchs for lunch. We chose pretzel schnitzel. Since we are not fans of potato salt, we changed the dish, in this case the side dish, to a salad. We were more than satisfied. It was very tasty. The pretzel breading was very crispy and the salad consisted of fresh vegetables dressed with a delicious salad dressing. Very fine. The service was courteous and very friendly. We would love to come back and look forward to the Münchner Schnitzel (breading with mustard and horseradish).

The Gasthof zum Fuchs is a traditional, rustic restaurant that serves local Allgäu dishes. There the chef stands behind the stove and prepares the food freshly and tastefully. So if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere in Kempten, you can talk to some of the locals over a glass of Augustiner. Many greetings from Brandenburg and see you next visit.

Food was good, there was really nothing to complain about!!! But the slightly older waitress didn't work at all: she forgot everything, she constantly had to ask again, then what we ordered didn't come (we ordered it from the menu, nothing changed or anything like that). She shakily put the plates in front of us, was overly friendly, asked almost too often if everything was OK - for me that was a little too intrusive. It's a shame, because the food and the chef - who even greeted us personally - were really great

I personally haven't been there yet, but friends of mine found the inn lovely, the food was excellent and the location was pleasant - you can get anywhere on foot or almost on foot as I wanted to go there for three weeks this year. I don't know exactly whether it would be July or August I first have to find out how much a single room costs when I'm in Bavaria, I've only ever stayed in guesthouses. Average 30 to 40 € per night with breakfast is enough to sleep, I'm on the go all day. Let's see

Der Gasthof zum Fuchs liegt etwas versteckt mitten in Kempten und ist wirklich einen Besuch wert! Das Essen ist mega lecker, die Preise sind meiner Meihnung nach angepasst und der Service des Gastwirtes ist mit Abstand hervorragend! Man fühlt sich von der ersten Sekunde sehr willkommen und in diesem Gasthaus wird man definitiv als König oder Königin behandelt! Ein riesen großes Lob und sobald ich wieder mal in Kempten bin, bin ich definitiv wieder Gast in diesem wahnsinnig gemütlichem Gasthaus! Absolut empfehlenswert!!!

Schön, dass der Gast hier wieder gern gesehen, das Essen gut und der Service außergewöhnlich freundlich ist. Update Oktober 2023 - schade dass - nach gutem Anfang - das Lokal sich zum unteren Durchschnitt entwickelt hat, Essen immer noch gut (auch wenn der Wirt vom original Wiener Kartoffelsalat offensichtlich nie etwas gehört hat) und vor allem hat der Service stark nachgelassen. Die aussergewöhnlich freundliche und kundenbezogene Servicekraft ist nicht mehr da. Schade.

Wir waren anfangs etwas skeptisch, da wir die einzigen Gäste im Restaurant waren, wurden jedoch sehr positiv überrascht😊 Das Essen war wirklich sehr sehr gut und sowohl Kellner als auch Koch waren zuvorkommend und freundlich !! Besuchen wir gerne wieder :)

Meine heutige Empfehlung: Gasthof zum Fuchs bei Thomas Bauer. Jetzt muss ich es mal schreiben, denn hier gibt es ausgezeichnete Leckereien zum Essen. Alles selbst gemacht, kann ich guten Herzens behaupten, denn ich habe Thomas Bauer beim Zubereiten über den Rücken geschaut. Da ich ein Hobbykoch aus Überzeugung bin, kann ich in unserer Stadt die Gaststätte zum Fuchs nur wärmstens empfehlen. Kleine Karte, Tageskarte und sehr freundliches Personal erwartet Sie hier, in einer freundlichen Lage in Mitten von Kempten. Ich war inzwischen schon mit sehr vielen Freunden und der Familie dort, alle haben das Essen geliebt, es ist wie selbst gekocht. Geheimtipp: Alles von der Karte ist zu Empfehlen, die Gaststätte zum Fuchs ist inzwischen mein Stammlokal geworden. Euer Stadtrat Thomas Kaser

Seit der neue Pächter,Thomas Bauer, die Gaststätte übernommen hat,sind wir mindestens einmal die Woche dort zum Essen...so wie auch heute.In der Familie sowie im Freundeskreis haben wir buchstäblich jedes Gericht auf der aussagekräftigen und verlockenden Karte genossen,mal ganz abgesehen von den überraschenden Tagesangeboten,so wie heute...Hüftsteak auf gebratenen Pfifferlingen und Gemüsejuis...unbeschreiblich zartes und auf den Punkt gebratenes Fleisch mit gelungener Bratensaftuntdermalung!Wann kann man(n ),Frau,für so eine Köstlichkeit endlich mehr als 5 Sterne vergeben ?Jeder Besuch ein kulinarisches Erlebnis....Qualität auf höchstem Niveau mit der Geschmackserinnerung an Omas Essen!

Wieder mal ein netter Abend im Fuchs und das Essen war sehr sehr lecker. Wir waren zu sechst, jedes Essen war fein und optisch sehr ansprechend. Eigentlich sollte man mehr als fünf Sterne 🌟 dafür vergeben können. Wir freuen uns auf das nächste Mal.
