Delicious food in a wonderfully cozy atmosphere. The service was very friendly and helpful, and the prices were perfectly reasonable. We got the last tables, so you should definitely make a reservation.

Absolutely recommended, 5 stars. From the greeting to the food and the farewell, everything was perfect. Great, attentive, and very friendly service. The owner's greeting made us feel very welcome! The food was outstanding (Cordon Bleu and roast beef, cooked perfectly medium-rare). The wine was delicious. The value for money is 100% spot on. Highly recommended in Kempten.

I think everything is great, the decoration is really nice, it's not boring, there's music in the background, there's enough food and the service is very friendly, it just took a while for the food to be ready because there were restaurants where it was quicker, but it actually didn't take that long at all, the menu was great too, lots of choice, there's something for everyone, so I think the restaurant is really great👏👏👍😀

We had an excellent meal here. Both the freshly prepared Cordon Bleu and the Schlutzkrapfen were both delicious and reasonably priced. We accompanied them with a wonderful Lagrein from Elena Walch, which was also very reasonably priced. And if we receive a more friendly welcome on our next visit when the restaurant opens at 5 p.m., we'll also give the service 5 stars.

An incredibly beautiful, cozy, little restaurant in the old town. Everything is lovingly designed. The owners were very, very friendly from the very first glance and were incredibly kind to the children. The food was sensational. We had the trilogy, the cordon bleu, and two children's dishes. Everything was soooo delicious and fresh. The fried potatoes were amazing and the salad dressing was divine. We'll always be happy to come back when we're in the area, and keep it up. You're doing a great job!

The "Alpensteig" is a lovingly decorated restaurant in Kempten's old town. We had a very good meal there. Regional cuisine at fair prices – that's what you'd expect! Also worth mentioning are the two friendly waitresses. We felt very comfortable.

We visited Alpensteig on Friday and were absolutely thrilled. Super friendly service, a great atmosphere, and my delicious cream of pumpkin soup (definitely a must-try).

We had the Gröstl (a kind of pork tenderloin) and the pork fillet... unbelievably delicious! And for a quick snack, hazelnut and hay schnapps... highly recommended! Thanks for the wonderful hospitality!

We went there because of the good 4.8 reviews. The ambiance is very pleasant and cozy. The service is friendly and prompt. Unfortunately, the food doesn't quite live up to the good reviews. Overall, everything was fine, but nothing more. We won't remember it.

First of all, the welcome. The staff is very helpful. We were able to get a table for two people and a dog. They even offered water for our dog (perhaps customary in Germany but not in Belgium). As for the food, it's delicious, traditional cuisine. The prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is warm and the decor is understated, in a positive way. So, thank you for the time spent with you.

I don't understand how the average rating of 4.8 came about! Were my expectations too high? In any case, this trip wasn't worth it. It was supposed to be bacon dumpling soup and a trilogy of bacon dumplings, cheese spaetzle, and shepherd's macaroni, with a mixed salad that was overwhelmed by the raspberry dressing, just as carelessly arranged and prepared as the previously mentioned components! What a shame!

There were four of us here for the first time. We received a very warm welcome and enjoyed a delicious meal. We will be back. Highly recommended.

The inn is very cozy and quaint, and the staff were very friendly. The food was excellent—I've never had such a good cordon bleu. The price/performance ratio is absolutely reasonable.

Following the server's recommendation, I chose the homemade Cordon Bleu. This, along with the raspberry dressing for the salad, was excellent and very tasty. Vanilla ice cream with roasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkin seed oil for dessert were also a real treat. This inspiration and the creation of dishes are impressive. Definitely recommended.

Last night, five of us dined at this very quaint and cozy restaurant. Point 1: The service staff, including the owners themselves, are exceptionally friendly and very personable. The food is very good and very authentic for Bavarian/Austrian/South Tyrolean cuisine. All in all, an enrichment for the culinary scene in Kempten. We/I will definitely be back.

It couldn't be better or nicer! As someone who travels a lot for work, I dare say it was "outstanding." I've never eaten better anywhere. Sandra and Joe make the experience perfect! We'd love to come back ☺️

A very rustic restaurant. The ambiance is very cozy. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food is incredibly delicious. We had rump steak and roast beef with onions and cheese spaetzle. We've rarely eaten such tender beef. The cheese spaetzle was also very tasty and well-seasoned. Highly recommended. The beer served was Büble. A fantastic 7 out of 5 stars ❤️

Unfortunately the evening was ruined by the fact that you can't pay with a card in this restaurant. In 2025 in Germany this is incomprehensible. We had to go to the bank to withdraw money. And the prices are too high anyway.

Nice place for supper. Walking area around is full of local shops and places to see. The meet salad with yogurt was amazing.

Very, very tasty food. However, the wait times are extremely long. We had to wait about 40 minutes for the main course. The Tyrolean Gröstel was delicious, but far too small for the two people at our table. The other dishes were very generous portions and completely sufficient.

Google says it's open. We went there with a toddler. What can I say… the kitchen has a break from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Great, please set it that way on Google too. That's why only one star ⭐️, it doesn't work at all.

Spontan ohne Reservierung nachgeholtes Geburtstagsessen mit der Bergfreundin. Zuerst sehr nett mit dem Besitzer unterhalten und danach die abwechslungsreiche Speisekarte "studiert", auf der viel Leckeres zu akzeptablen Preisen zu finden ist. Die Wartezeit auf das Essen war kurz und ein Sonderwunsch wurde schnell erfüllt. Alles hat wirklich sehr gut geschmeckt und wir fanden das Ambiente sehr angenehm.

Was embarrassing when it came to pay the bill as I wanted to invite my family and couldn’t as they don’t accept credit cards . Enough reason for me not to return. Also felt forced to order food immediately , would have liked to have enjoyed the tasty beer first. Food was quite good . I thought the rostbraten was pricey considering it didn’t come with salad.

Always a pleasure, great atmosphere and great food. Here you feel very comfortable and at home... If you are looking for regional and good home-style cuisine, then you have come to the right place.

Service really good, but food subpar. You can tell that cheap ingredients are used, spices are hardly used at all - it just didn't taste like anything. But it was brutally oily. And then no credit cards are accepted. I understand you want to save on fees, but in connection with the food you got the impression that it's more about squeezing out every percent of profit. Overall just not a good experience, won't be coming back.

Unfortunately the food was a real disappointment. The salad seemed to me to have just been thrown out of the bag onto the plate and no regional products whatsoever. In the end I couldn't even pay because no credit cards are accepted. The service, on the other hand, was great, unfortunately that's not enough.

Stopped in spontaneously for the first time and luckily got a free table. Very rustic and cozy, attentive and friendly service, ordered Schlutzkrapfen and Käsespätzle - the latter were to die for. Definitely again!

During our visit to Kempten we stopped here for lunch. The owners gave us a warm welcome and luckily we were able to get a table even without a reservation. From the inside, the restaurant is rustic, very cozy and yet modernly furnished. The drinks menu has everything your heart desires and the menu also offers something for every taste. Salads, a variation of home cooking and constantly changing dishes such as, in our case, the baked feta from the carnival menu. Excellent price-performance ratio. The service was super warm and accommodating. All the dishes tasted great; we decided on the Kaiserschmarrn, even though we were already full. But it was definitely worth it. We want to come back soon. Paying with an EC card is no problem.

We were there as a group (6 people). We were all so disappointed. Nothing worked. Order was forgotten. Had to wait forever. The meal was then made quickly. Burgers were fried to death and cold so that the cheese hadn't even started to run. Most of the other dishes were not convincing at all. Staff very rude. Apology absolutely not credible. Paying with a card was also not possible. It shouldn't really be a problem these days. I will definitely never go there again.

Went there at short notice today and got a table for four people. I'll cut it short...it was simply outstanding!!! From the ambience to the service and the extremely excellent food... you can, no, you simply have to recommend this restaurant!!! Conclusion: If you are in Oberallgäu, you should definitely take advantage of the opportunity and let yourself be pampered or enjoy yourself here. We'll definitely come back.

Wir waren eine Gruppe Mädels und haben uns auf Empfehlung für das Alpensteig entschieden. Ich gebe nur einen Punkt, da die Speisekarte leider fast nur aus mächtigen und fetten Speisen bestand. Deswegen habe ich mich für einen Salat mit Hähnchen und Mais entschieden. Der Salat war, vor allem für den Preis von 16,90€, ok. Als wir zahlen wollten ging das EC-Gerät nicht, so dass meine Freundin für mich zahlen musste. Leider erkrankte ich 2 Tage später an einer massiven Campylobakter-Infektion (meldepflichtig) mit Krankenhausaufenthalt, die durch nicht gut durchgebratenes Geflügelfleisch übertragen wird. Leider kann ich das Lokal nicht weiter empfehlen.

A successful end to a beautiful day

This was our third time eating at the Alpensteig. We were once again warmly welcomed and again received great service! The Cordon Bleu is the best thing I've ever eaten!!! The Kässpätzle and the burger are also simply delicious. The chocolate cake and the Kaiserschmarrn once again blew everyone at the table away. The Alpensteig restaurant is exactly what I imagine a guest-oriented, well-run establishment to be: Unfortunately, we underestimated the popularity and didn't make a reservation. When we entered the dining room everything seemed full. Nevertheless, a waitress came immediately, took care of us and a few minutes later we were sitting comfortably. Even though there was so much going on, it was never hectic or too loud. The interior is a very good silencer. In addition to the staff, the hospitality and the location, I am also very impressed by the food. There is a good selection and the chef knows his craft. Excellent! With so much positive experience in a short time, you'll be happy to tip a little more!

We enjoyed it very much. Mostly Tyrolean dishes and some classics such as: Cordon Bleu. Service was very good. Ambiance was simple but cozy. Prices are within normal limits. We didn't have a reservation...but we immediately felt welcome.
