Gasthof Löwen in Furtwangen im Schwarzwald

One of the best experiences of our trip. Susi is a genius who treated us like her own grandchildren. The food was delicious, and she made it easy to communicate with her even though we didn't speak German. It's a must-stop if you're in the area.

Good and honest food, the hostess came to have a nice chat afterwards. Value for money. Ate Putenschnitzel and schnitzel with salad and spaetzle, large coke and large beer for €45.

The view is beautiful, and you can sit inside or outside. The lovely lady does an excellent job; she's super friendly, and the food is good and comes quickly. And what's even better is that they serve hot food all day, so we were able to get schnitzel at 10:30 a.m. :D We'd love to go back!

Really delicious home cooked German food. Good service from the nice lady of the restaurant. I recommend it if you are looking for an authentic place with dishes from the German cuisine.

The last evening of my vacation I visited Gasthof Löwen, an excellent choice: the restaurant is easy to reach with big parking to start. The food was as I hoped for, traditional and very well prepared. I had spätzle with frikadel, and a nice salad. Besides tasty, the portions big enough. As dessert of course Apfelstrudel. All with a reasonable price. I can really recommend this place, it deserves more guests!

We were in the inn with a large group. The lady was alone and did everything great. Of course we had to wait a long time for our food, but we were rewarded with food like grandma's time. She served everything at the same time, so we could all eat together. Chips and croquettes came on large platters and there was plenty of everything. The location is getting old, but not dingy or dusty, we found everything to be very clean. Our conclusion: you can eat very well and old school, but you have to take the time. The lady miscalculated in our favor several times, but we clarified everything and did the math with her. She said that her husband usually does it and stands in the kitchen with her. When it comes to the building, furnishings and ambience, at first glance you actually feel like you've been transported back to the 80s. It is a simple, very rustic inn in the old inn style. However, the food is very tasty and freshly prepared, be it the salad or the main course. The culinary crown was topped off with the fresh and still lukewarm rhubarb cake, which was then served to us. The overall very pleasant stay was rounded off by the good service and the warm and friendly manner of the landlady.

This place is run by a friendly elderly couple, who are very chatty and friendly. It wasn't packed when we were there which is a bit surprising as the food is absolutely delicious. There are ample parking space outside of the restaurant. This will be my regular dining place when i'm nearby.

I don't usually write reviews, but this experience was so unfriendly that I simply had to share it. I've never experienced anything so disrespectful. As soon as we sat down, we were brought three pretzels and told they were "for us." Later, it turned out that they were on the bill—without us being informed. When we ordered our food, it took a little longer, which is understandable for six people. But I found a piece of plastic in my cheese spaetzle. When we politely pointed this out, the waitress reacted completely inappropriately: She immediately claimed it couldn't have come from her, made fun of it for looking like a fingernail, and even tried to blame it on us. In the end, she wanted to charge us for the cheese spaetzle and the pretzels. After an unpleasant discussion, the cheese spaetzle were removed from the bill, but we still had to pay for the pretzels. The way they spoke to us was simply disrespectful. By the way, three pretzels cost €7.50. Absolutely not recommended.

Today we had venison, it was fantastic

It's early October, the weather is already chilly, it's drizzling, the clouds are low. A wonderful atmosphere in a hundred shades of gray. You're driving from the Brigach spring back to so-called civilization, to Triberg, Furtwangen, or St. Georgen. But the federal highway is too hectic for you, with all the trucks and other traffic trying to overtake them, even at the risk of their own lives. Then take the L175, about a kilometer north of Rohrbach in the Black Forest, you'll find the Gasthof Löwen. You walk in, and the tiled stove is heating up in the dining room; it smells and feels as if Grandma were still here and you were visiting her. Everything here is still as it should be: the food is home-cooked and fresh, the landlady cares for you like Grandma did, and everything tastes so fantastic, you don't want to drive any further, you don't want to go back into the fog and chaos on the B500! So you stay and drink another coffee or two by the tiled stove and enjoy the déjà vu 🥰! And by the way, the cake at the next table looked delicious too...

Very nice older man but unfortunately the price-performance ratio isn't right, especially with chicken nuggets and fries for €16.50 and our children are just about full.

The last time I experienced something like this was in the desert of the Scottish Highlands. A restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Google Maps misguided me again. But otherwise we would never have come to this quaint restaurant. Two rows of tables, no, not individual tables, and anyone who dares will quickly find themselves in company. Gotta like it, I liked it. The food is good and plentiful, I had the daily special of roast beef. It wasn't tough like usual elsewhere. The restaurant is an insider tip and, because of its remote location, is not overcrowded even on Sunday lunchtime. Go there. There is also WiFi.

It looked closed from the outside, but once inside I was quickly greeted by the owner. Small menu, but everything prepared with attention. Typical German with a homely atmosphere. The owner is very friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. As if you were joining her at home.

When we arrived, the first door was open, but the second was closed. No vehicle in the parking lot. As we were already on the way back to the car, a woman called out to us that she was there. In short: even if it looks too much, just wait a little. There is a motion detector that informs the owner about guests. The food was very tasty and the service was also great. My husband and I went to eat at the Zum Löwen restaurant yesterday. I'll be honest, at first I was a bit irritated by the rooms. The furnishings were a bit older and the air in the room smelled stale, so the ambience only gets one point. But the boss and cook are very nice, friendly and attentive. The food was a dream, really delicious home cooking, like my grandma's. Super, super tasty and at the end we had a very nice conversation. We'll be back.😄

Unfortunately not. While looking for a restaurant, we passed the Gasthof Löwen. According to Google Maps, the inn was shown to us as open. There was also an advertising sign right at the entrance to the parking lot that said it was open. Even though it was lunchtime, we found ourselves standing in front of a locked door. Nowhere is there any indication as to whether there is a reason for this. Too bad!

I would have liked to share the positive reviews, but after 2 1/2 Standing in front of a closed restaurant for hours on end is not nice! According to the internet and local residents it should be open. If anyone plans to eat there, they'd better call ahead!

Today we wanted to eat something typical from the region and you want something hearty. How are you, you are driving to your hotel but you still want to find a restaurant, so we followed the reviews and had a meal here with a manager who prepares the food with a lot of love. The dining room is a bit unusual in layout, but what fantastic food, what a warm atmosphere. We finished our platter with great gusto, nice strong Black Forest food. The service is personal, jovial and humorous and with a desire to genuinely satisfy the guest and they have succeeded extremely well in this. The price-quality ratio is very good and overall you leave here feeling happy and satisfied. A winner!

My wife and I are from Berlin and went on vacation for a few days in the Black Forest. We went to this inn because of the positive reviews and were not disappointed. The food was really very good and the portions were really good. The operator is very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, you don't find an inn like this very often anymore these days. Price performance is definitely right here. We will definitely come back on our next visit to this area.

Hatten spontan reserviert (keine Saison) und konnten direkt vorbei kommen. Tagesgericht war Reh Steak mit Spätzle und Rotkraut - hat hervorragend geschmeckt und war gut zubereitet. Auch der Service war wirklich sehr freundlich. Ausbaufähig ist lediglich die Atmosphäre noch etwas (helles Licht über jedem Tisch, das könnte mit indirektem Licht an den Wänden noch etwas gemütlicher sein). Insgesamt: empfehlenswert!

Sehr gemütlicher Gasthof, wie man ihn von früher kennt. Das Essen, egal was wir bisher gegessen haben es war immer hervorragend und die Freundlichkeit der Inhaber steht dem in keinster Weise nach. Wer frisches, leckeres Essen möchte, wie früher bei Mutter ist hier bestens bedient.

Haben heute den Löwen entdeckt. Sehr lecker gegessen bei einer Wirtin mit Leib und Seele. Wir kommen wieder, wenn der Kachelofen die Stube wärmt und das Essen zubereitet 😉.

Auch wenn kein Fahrzeug vor dem urigen Gasthaus steht: haltet an und geht hinein - das Essen ist top und wird frisch zubereitet! :-) Wir waren vor 3 Tagen zwar die einzigen Gäste im Lokal, das Essen aber war super lecker (Schnitzel, Cordon Bleu, Kroketten + Pommes, Bratkartoffeln und Beilagensalat). Die Bedienung (gleichzeitig Köchin) ist sehr nett und freundlich. Preis + Leistung absolut top.

Ich war mit meiner Familie zum essen hier. Alles hat wirklich gut geschmeckt zb. Schnitzel, Wurstsalat, bratkartoffeln und Pommes ! Ein lob an die Cheffin, die uns nett bedient und gut bekocht hat :) MAX

Una comida deliciosa preparada al momento por la dueña de la casa. El local despista porque no había gente, y parecía cerrado, pero al momento nos ha atendido la dueña, y nos ha pasado al comedor. Hemos pedido sólo un par de platos, y la sorpresa es que vienen acompañados por otros que hacen como entrantes. Ensalada de salchicha, muy fresca, viene con unas patatas asadas condimentadas. El típico schnizel o escape de cerdo, viene con ensalada de patata y un plato enorme de pasta a la mantequilla y queso rallado. De postre un apflestruden casero muy bueno. Y las cervezas a precio razonable. Todo perfecto. Es como comer una comida casera de una abuela alemana, en su propia casa. La señora es muy amable, y se esfuerza por entender las preguntas en cualquier idioma. Creo que difícilmente se puede comer mejor y a mejor precio en toda la Selva negra. Como curiosidad, hay una bolera antigua.

Wir sind aufgrund der sehr guten Rezessionen hergekommen und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Die Chefin ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Hunde und Kinder sind auch herzlich Willkommen. Die Speisekarte ist zwar sehr klein, aber unser Cordon Bleu war sehr lecker und der Beilagensalat ein Gedicht. Wo gibt es schon noch hausgemachten Kartoffelsalat?

Wir waren erst etwas irritiert, weil wir die einzigen Gäste waren. Es ist eine urige alte Wirtschaft mit lieber Bedienung. Das Essen war sehr gut. Wir kommen jederzeit gern wieder.
