Gasthof Kaiserhof in Rödental

We had originally reserved a table for 25 people for our daughter's first day of school, but a few weeks before the event, we reduced the number to 15. Unfortunately, two guests had to cancel that morning due to illness. Instead of showing understanding, the manager had the waitress tell us that it was "absolutely unacceptable" that we hadn't called – a completely rude reaction on a day when, as parents, you have completely different concerns. We were assured over the phone that we could bring our own cake. However, when we got there, we still had to pay the full price for coffee – even for guests who didn't drink it. On top of that, there was an absolute outrage: they charged €8.50 for two glasses of cold milk for children, the same price as the coffee. And on top of that, two additional children were also charged for coffee, even though they, of course, didn't drink any. The food was good, the table was beautifully decorated, and the little cone of sweets for the schoolchild was a nice gesture. Nevertheless, such behavior remains unfriendly to customers, petty and simply disappointing on such a special day.

I highly recommend the indoor pool cafe. The service is friendly and the food is delicious.

We stumbled upon this wonderful place by chance on our way from Erfurt through the Thuringian Forest to Bamberg. Even though we only had a cup of coffee, we were warmly welcomed and served. The cake was absolutely delicious! And the large terrace was very cozy despite the rain.

A typical local restaurant. Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, and more than fair prices. Everything was top-notch. We really enjoyed our stay here. There's a small terrace for outside seating. It's best to make a reservation in advance.
