Kleine aber gute Speisekarte ergänzt durch spannende Tagesangebote. Ich denke hier findet jeder was. Qualitativ hochwertige Speisen. Nicht der günstigste Ort aber dennoch absolut zu empfehlen.

Service, Ambiente und das Essen waren perfekt und ein Besuch lohnt sich. Der Blick auf den See macht alles idyllisch und romantisch. Die Zutaten waren fein ausgewählt und von heimischen Unternehmen. Als ist darüber und ordentlich. Weiße Tischdecke auch im Außenbereich. Das Essen ist optisch perfekt angerichtet. Wer gut Essen gehen möchte, dem kann ich die Gaststätte nur empfehlen.

Ein wunderschönes Restaurant in Traumlage. Hinzu kommt die leckere Küche gepaart mit einem ausgesprochen liebenswerten Service. Die Speisen haben Topquallität und sind perfekt zubereitet. Jeder Besuch birgt ein kulinarisches Highlight. Die Fleisch- und Fischqualität sucht Ihresgleichen; der Saibling und der Heilbutt waren so frisch, dass es nicht frischer geht, dazu perfekt saftig gegart. Der selbstgemachte Käsekuchen war einfach nur traumhaft - perfekte Konsistenz der Quarkmasse dazu ein unglaublich leckerer Knusperboden, nicht zu süß... Hier müssen die Engel des Himmels ihr irdisches Quartier haben. Auch unser kleiner Sheltie fühlt sich immer herzlich willkommen. Sein Wassernapf steht für ihn immer schon bereit! Herr Scammell gehört ohne Zweifel zu den begnadesten Köchen der ganzen Region. Hier speisen zu dürfen ist Savoir Vivre auf höchstem Niveau. Vielen Dank für diese grandiosen Gaumenfreuden gepaart mit perfektem Service. Der Heilbutt hatte Sterneniveau!!!

Ein außergewöhnlicher Abend im Restaurant am Froschgrundsee. Die Lage direkt am See sorgt schon beim Ankommen für eine besondere, ruhige Atmosphäre, die perfekt zum gehobenen Niveau des Hauses passt (Guide Michelin 2025). Die Küche war kreativ, präzise und geschmacklich sehr fein abgestimmt – jedes Gericht wirkte durchdacht und handwerklich auf sehr hohem Niveau. Der Service war aufmerksam, professionell und dabei angenehm unaufdringlich, sodass man sich durchgehend gut aufgehoben fühlt. Insgesamt ein rundum stimmiges Erlebnis auf Michelin-Niveau, das definitiv in Erinnerung bleibt.

Einfach nur Super ! Die Lage am See, der Ausblick, schöne Terrasse… Der Empfang herzlich, der Service bestens und was die Küche angeht - einfach hervorragend !

Ich kann es nur empfehlen, schon die Begrüßung war sehr freundlich, unser Kellner Mike sehr zuvorkommend und höflich. Das Essen war auf dem Punkt und ein Traum, das Ambiente sehr schön und ich komme auf jedenfall wieder, deswegen habe ich auch 5 Sterne gegeben.

Ich will mal so sagen , als wir ankamen im Staub der Baustelle, welche sich im Moment vor dem Lokal befindet und mit Blick auf die ICE Schnellbahntrasse , übersieht man fasst den schönen kleinen See . Das alles ist aber Nebensache . Es ist ein reine Freude dieses Lokal zu betreten, ich muss lange zurückdenken, um mich an so einen freundlichen, sympathischen Service in einem Lokal erinnern zu können. Wir durften heute das SMOKER BUFFET genießen, das aus verschiedenen Fleischsorten, Fisch, knackigem Gemüse und anderen Beilagen zusammengestellt war. Dem Buffet ging eine freundliche Begrüßung mit einem Aperitif voraus. Ein absolut leckeres Dessert bildete den Abschluss eines rundum genussvollen Abends. Die Qualität der servierten Produkte war wirklich herausragend, so dass der Preis von 65 Euro/Person mehr als angemessen bezeichnet werden kann. - Herzlichen Dank auch für den freundlichen Service. Wir werden dieses am Froschgrundsee schön gelegene Restaurant ganz sicher bei Gelegenheit wieder besuchen.

Einfach nur mega. Das Restaurant ist zwar eher im gehobenen Preissegment angesiedelt, wenn man sich die Menüpreise anschaut. Es gibt jedoch auch die Möglichkeit, à la carte zu bestellen – und hier ist das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis phänomenal. Man bekommt eine unglaubliche Kreativität und Liebe zum Detail auf den Teller, ohne dabei zwingend viel ausgeben zu müssen. So gibt es beispielsweise ein Schnitzel mit Beilage für 19,50 €. Wirklich ein Hidden Gem der Region. 100 % Weiterempfehlung für alle, die sich auf eine kulinarische Reise begeben möchten.

Feines Restaurant mit einem guten Angebot an Speisen. Auf der Terrasse sitzt man sehr gut, wobei das zu bevorzugen ist, aber auch drinnen bei schlechtem Wetter sehr angenehm. Sehr sauberes Lokal zum wohlfühlen.

Wir haben dieses Restaurant vor längerer Zeit entdeckt und waren sofort begeistert. Schon beim ersten Besuch hat uns die gemütliche Atmosphäre und die wunderschöne Lage am Froschgrundsee überzeugt. Deswegen haben ich heute meine Eltern hierher eingeladen und auch sie waren sofort begeistert. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung, bei der man sich direkt willkommen fühlt. Auch kulinarisch wurden unsere Erwartungen mehr als erfüllt: Die Speisen sind frisch, liebevoll angerichtet und geschmacklich hervorragend. Hier merkt man, dass mit Qualität und Leidenschaft gearbeitet wird. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt ist, dass auf individuelle Wünsche jederzeit eingegangen wird. Egal ob kleine Anpassungen bei den Gerichten oder besondere Anliegen, das Team zeigt sich flexibel und bemüht, den Gästen ein rundum angenehmes Erlebnis zu bieten. Das Restaurant ist für uns zu einem echten Lieblingsort geworden. Klare Empfehlung für alle, die gutes Essen in toller Umgebung genießen möchten!

Sehr lecker! Waren zum Mittagessen Sonntags dort.

Ich war mit meiner Familie dort essen. Ich bin Vegetarierin und meine 5 Fallafel-Bällchen mit etwas Gemüse haben 25€!!! gekostet. Meine Family hat Gänsebrust gegessen für 26,50€ pro Essen. Da fühle ich mich wirklich abgezockt und diskriminiert. Das vegetarische Essen steht Sonntags ja gar nicht auf der Speisekarte. Man kann aber nachfragen was es gibt für Vegetarier. Nie im Leben wäre ich draufgekommen dass diese Mini-Portion von trockenen Fallafelbällchen 25€ kostet. Für den Preis hätte ich dann lieber gar nichts gegessen. Die Suppe für 9€ war gut, wenn auch sehr salzig, aber auch nicht viel. Also die Preise sind nicht akzeptabel für Gerichte ohne Fleisch. Das Fleisch und Fisch einen gewissen Preis haben finde ich gut, aber die Kosten für mein vegetarisches Gericht waren weit entfernt von einem gerechtfertigten Preis von 25€.

We went there for lunch! I had sauerbraten and my husband had venison roast. Both came with apple red cabbage. The roasts were good, but the red cabbage was unfortunately mushy and overcooked! Unacceptable for a Michelin-starred restaurant.

We stumbled upon this wonderful place by chance on our way from Erfurt through the Thuringian Forest to Bamberg. Even though we only had a cup of coffee, we were warmly welcomed and served. The cake was absolutely delicious! And the large terrace was very cozy despite the rain.

Great location, great service, varied menu, pleasant atmosphere, first-class food with excellent starters and desserts. The smoker buffet (only by reservation and advance payment) was a highlight; I've rarely eaten so well. The cuisine is a good mix of regional and international influences. The owners are super friendly, always willing to listen and actively participate. Highly recommended, even if you have to pay a little more for good food, which for me only means questioning the number of visits, not the experience itself.

I can hardly believe I overlooked this restaurant for so long. I often travel to Coburg from the US to visit family, and my daughter reminded me of Froschgrundsee, where she spent many summers with my mother as a child. After my mother's death, I contacted the restaurant for a family dinner, and they were incredibly accommodating. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service outstanding, and the food far exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect setting to honor my mother's 94 years of life and her love for our family. For that, we are so grateful. Highly recommended!

We went to a smoker evening. High-quality buffet with plenty of smoked meat and homemade sauces and side dishes, see website. The event took place outdoors in summery temperatures. From there, you have a beautiful view of Froschgrundsee. There was a short introduction to the specialties and the grilling method. At the buffet, you could also have questions answered by the chef. All in all, it was a fantastic event with super delicious food. The price/performance ratio was right. We'd be happy to go again. (This event is not suitable for vegetarians/vegans.)

We celebrated our wedding anniversary there today with a fantastic meal in a fantastic setting with superbly friendly staff. The food was beyond outstanding, a true delight for the palate. A huge compliment to the wait staff for their excellent service—you'd love to have something like that. Highly recommended in every respect. The prices are completely reasonable, everything is freshly prepared, and you can taste it. A visit is definitely worth it. We were very satisfied... Thank you so much for the wonderful evening... First of all: the food tastes excellent. Very tasteful, cooked and presented with attention to detail. The regional sourcing of the processed ingredients is also noteworthy. What is absolutely unacceptable, however, is when the waiter (who is very competent, no question!) whispers about guests behind the counter and complains that our table isn't drinking enough ("I've already asked three times if they'd like another drink" or "they've just ordered coffee and cake"). It leaves a bitter aftertaste. You feel out of place, as if you should leave because you're not getting enough done. Incidentally, several of our group heard this independently, so it's unlikely that it was misunderstood – we only realized this after our visit when we reflected on it. This behavior unfortunately seems unprofessional and unnecessary; after all, we spent over €300 there. When we politely asked if we could exchange money (the little girl wanted to pay for the group's drinks from her savings, a very sweet gesture), the male waitress rudely dismissed us with, "We're not a bank." We were very nice beforehand, but the longer we sat in the establishment, the more unwelcome we felt. In the end, the friendly woman exchanged it without any problems. All in all, it was very tasty, but I don't understand why all this whispering about guests and all these eye-rolling looks have to happen. If, for some reason, it has to happen, please wait until you've left. It doesn't make you feel good, more like you weren't welcome. Finally: the view is breathtakingly beautiful!

A visit to this restaurant is an experience for the senses. The outdoor dining area is very cozy, and the waitresses are super friendly and attentive. The most important thing, however, is the excellent food, and we enjoyed the expertly prepared asparagus dishes. They were almost perfect; the asparagus was delicately cooked, the side dishes were tasty, and the dishes as a whole were perfectly prepared. We had a very good meal, and the ice cream for dessert was also delicious. The price is absolutely reasonable, and we'll definitely be back soon!

Ein Erlebnis für die Sinne ist der Besuch hier im in diesem Restaurant. Der Gastgarten ist sehr gemütlich und die Damen im Service super nett und aufmerksam. Die Hauptsache allerdings ist das vorzügliche Essen und wir konnten die gekonnten Spargelvarianten genießen. Diese waren nahezu perfekt, der Spargel fein gekocht, die Beilagen schmackhaft und die Gerichte in Summe sehr perfekt gelungen. Wir haben sehr gut gegessen, da auch das Eis zum Nachtisch sehr lecker war. Der Preis ist absolut angemessen und wir kommen bestimmt bald wieder hierher zurück!

The restaurant's slogan, "Where enjoyment and warmth become an experience," is fitting! I started with a Gin Basil. What a divine combination of flavors. I've never eaten such delicious oysters – rock oysters with raspberry vinaigrette. The char was a delight. To finish, homemade sour cherry sorbet with sparkling wine. Simply divine! Excellent ingredients and superb preparation paired with warm service and a beautiful view from the terrace. The locals say it's an expensive restaurant. I wonder how such quality can be offered at such a reasonable price. The restaurant rightly earned the Bib Gourmand award from Michelin.

After a hike around the lake, you should stop for a bite to eat. The lovely terrace offers a view of the landscape.

Especially on sunny days, a seat on the terrace overlooking Froschgrundsee is a special moment and invites you to linger. The restaurant's service is excellent; guests are recommended the daily specials or special offers, and inquiries are answered professionally. The menu is varied, with a focus on high-quality cuisine using regional ingredients. Both the starter and main course were presented with attention to detail and displayed a striking visual language. The dishes are very well seasoned and showcase a harmonious interplay of different flavors. Quality comes at a price; an evening at Froschgrundsee costs a little more than average, but the atmosphere invites you to enjoy a high-quality meal. A big thank you to the chef, who personally brought us a small appetizer to our table. Thank you very much, and keep up the good work.

We were completely impressed by the Froschgrundsee restaurant. As soon as we entered we were warmly welcomed and immediately put into a relaxed atmosphere by the attentive and friendly waiter. The culinary experience also left nothing to be desired. My gnocchi was perfectly prepared - soft but with just the right bite, and a wonderfully balanced sauce. The falafel also impressed with a crispy shell and a spicy but not overloaded interior. Every component on the plates was prepared with noticeable attention to detail. A restaurant that impresses with its quality of service and cuisine and is definitely worth a visit. We are already looking forward to the next time!

Great location, but... We arrived on a Sunday around 1:20 p.m. and wanted to have a coffee and try the cream puffs often mentioned in the reviews. Unfortunately, the owner (?) very arrogantly informed us that lunch was served until 2 p.m. Since we declined, we were reluctantly given a coffee and a "simple cake," which he can serve himself. Cake and cream puffs are only available from 2 p.m.!!! We were then asked when we would be having lunch on Sundays. And he continued this discussion with every guest until 2 p.m., and no one who arrived after us wanted lunch, just coffee...

Wonderful feel-good restaurant! Nice terrace to sit outside and enjoy the view of the lake and the sun. The food was incredibly tasty and the service was super nice. (Many greetings to Sarah and her efforts… we got home safely) Our little dog was a welcome guest :)

A truly star-worthy experience! The 4-course PLEASURE MENU in the Froschgrundsee was a culinary highlight. Each course, from the seared duck foie gras with purple curry to the tender Wagyu steak with popcorn polenta, was a work of art in itself. The crowning glory was the exquisite cream slice with blood orange ice cream. The ambience is upscale and stylish, but what really made the experience memorable was the service. The staff was exceptionally attentive, friendly and competent. They really looked after each guest and complemented the food perfectly. The Michelin star is absolutely deserved. If you're looking for an unforgettable gourmet experience, you've come to the right place!

Yesterday I was here again after a long break and was shocked at the prices on the lunch menu. The cheapest dish was a schnitzel from the lucky pig with potato salad and rapeseed for €21.50. The taste was okay, but the two small schnitzels were about 5mm thick (thin) without breading. I definitely won't come here for lunch again.
