We celebrated our wedding here – and unfortunately, this celebration remains a negative memory, mainly because of the owner. Weeks before the reception, agreements were gradually being reversed: the test decorations were canceled, instead of the day before, we were only allowed to decorate and set up everything 1.5 hours beforehand, like a heavy candy bar, and the cake was suddenly only allowed in individual pieces. Planning security? None of that. On the wedding day itself, the owner's bad mood was immediately noticeable. The hall was stuffy and hot. When asked later, he said it was due to the hot food, the DJ lights, and the fog machine. The only problem was: when the guests were already sweating, there was still no food, no fog, and the lights were modern LEDs – not hot halogen spotlights. So the explanation is simply nonsense. Then there was the beer: The beer was still served, which several guests complained to the owner about. His reaction: rude. Instead of solving the problem, he simply commented, "What kind of beer would you drink otherwise?" One of my friends drew the conclusion: He preferred to go to the nearest shop, buy a beer, and drink it outside, even though drinks were free inside. If a guest would rather spend money than drink the free beer, that should give any landlord pause. Instead, the announcement followed that in any "normal restaurant," they would have been thrown out for such a thing. All we can say to that is: every normal restaurant serves carbonated beer. To top it all off, we were kicked out of our own party at 2:00 a.m. Supposedly, this was agreed upon—except there was nothing written about it, and even the preliminary meeting only noted the start time. What normal wedding ends at 2:00 a.m.? If the landlord really saw it that way, he should have made it clear and unambiguous. But he didn't. The surprise and anger were correspondingly great. The wedding cake was then simply left in the hall instead of being safely stored—also completely unprofessional. And now a quiz question: What happened the next day? a) The host apologizes and says it was a misunderstanding b) He at least shows understanding Right, c: You're insulted and told to "see a doctor because you have mental health problems, as you forget so much." Hospitality played out. The food, which was picked up the next day, wasn't even offered to us to take away, even though we had paid for it. That, too, speaks volumes. To say something positive: The food was good and the venue itself was beautiful – especially thanks to our friends who had to manage the decorating under great time pressure. One server was very friendly, but unfortunately, she left at 11 p.m. The party itself was beautiful, at least until 2 a.m. The fact that it ended abruptly afterward and was overshadowed by the owner's behavior is all the more sad. Many thanks to our guests, who nevertheless gave us a wonderful evening. Conclusion: The food and venue were good – but the owner, the tone, and the organization were absolutely unacceptable. Not recommended for weddings. Response to the owner: Thank you for your feedback. We stand by the experiences we described: last-minute changes to arrangements, stifling heat, repeated complaints about the beer, an abrupt cancellation at 2 a.m. without written confirmation, and the tone of the conversation. The start time of the event was noted in writing during the meeting, but an end time was not – had this been intended, it should have been recorded as well. We find personal references and the reference to video recordings inappropriate. Please refrain from mentioning or alluding to personal information in the future. We are happy to provide clarification for any further matters outside of the public comments period.

Totally unprofessional and incapable of taking criticism! Absolutely not recommended!

We were there for a celebration. First things first: the buffet was good, plentiful, quickly refilled, and kept warm. Unfortunately, that doesn't outweigh the downsides, which is why we're only giving it 2 stars. The hall was air-conditioned, but as long as the air conditioning is turned off, it quickly becomes uncomfortably warm inside, especially when the outside temperature is 30 degrees Celsius. Unfortunately, despite several guests' requests, nothing was turned on. Then there's the beer... a lack of carbonation could have been quickly remedied with a few simple steps, but unfortunately, nothing was done here either (despite several guests' requests). The icing on the cake, however, was the owners themselves. Nasty comments about the guests and gossip about the event organizers who hired the venue are unacceptable. We expected more from Westphalian hospitality.

We attended a wedding held at this venue. Unfortunately, our overall experience with the hall and the host was not a good one. Upon entering, we noticed that the room was neither air-conditioned nor adequately ventilated. These things were not turned on when we asked for them. This meant that the guests had to celebrate in a stuffy, very warm room despite high temperatures. Our complaints were not taken seriously, and we were repeatedly made to feel, and the host confirmed this the next day, that we ourselves were to blame for the situation. Another major problem was the beer served to the guests – it was flat and barely drinkable. Even after we pointed this out, there was no remedy. Some guests also had to procure drinks themselves. Which was understandable, considering it wasn't included in the package. Only then should they be charged the same price for the entire evening. On the positive side, the bride and groom and the guests tried to make the best of the situation and maintain a lively atmosphere. Everyone succeeded in doing so. Nevertheless, the host's shortcomings and all the excuses cast a shadow over the entire evening. The guests had to endure many negative aspects and couldn't fully concentrate on the celebration. Even the announcement that there would be a bad review was ignored. What was particularly annoying was that the party ended at 2:00 a.m. without warning. The DJ was instructed to turn off the music immediately, so the party ended abruptly and without notice. This caused great disappointment for everyone involved, as the party was still in full swing. The dance floor was also very busy. There were also problems with the hall decorations. Although the guests' own initiative was able to salvage everything as best as possible at short notice, as we only had an hour and a half to decorate the hall, that's not what you should expect from a professional event venue. Especially not for a wedding, which had to be planned well in advance, and indeed was. Conclusion: Unfortunately, based on our experience, we cannot recommend this venue. From inadequate organization to lackluster service to the abrupt end of the celebration – we would have preferred a much more professional wedding. The food and the party were the only positive things we could take away from the evening.

Overall, the party was very nice, and the food was good. Unfortunately, the beer was undrinkable, and the owners' attitude toward the guests was anything but friendly and welcoming. Not recommended!

We were guests at a wedding and it was really weird. The beer wasn't carbonated. None the entire evening. The food was so-so and the windows weren't opened. Because it was so hot, we asked for the air conditioning to be turned on, but we were told it would be too expensive. For dessert, they conjured up a chocolate mousse with alcohol, which wasn't labeled, and the children drank it all themselves. It all seemed like the intention was to punish the bride and groom. It's terrible to have to go through a wedding like that.

We were invited as wedding guests to spend a lovely day/evening there. The bride and groom are close friends of ours, and the witnesses were only able to arrive at the venue 1.5 hours before the reception began to decorate for the wedding, which was actually unacceptable. The reason was a party with 100 people the night before. What rounded off the fiasco, however, was the poor service, which hadn't really been there, because you had to get your own drinks (table service was practically nonexistent), and the mood of the owner, who seemed annoyed when someone asked for a beer while decorating. To make matters worse, it was still beer in the truest sense of the word. Even the reminder to check the carbonation bottle was apparently too much for him. This continued throughout the entire evening; what a pity for the beer keg. As a trained chef, I have almost 20 years of professional experience, and I'd say that's all it takes to know what a freshly tapped beer should taste like. There was no way to complain about the food; it was truly delicious. When we ran out of drinks around 1:30 a.m., we were told, upon asking "Why?", that the event was over and then shown the door. Truly a crowning finale! I felt really sorry for the bride and groom! You can't work that unprofessionally in the restaurant industry! The customer is certainly not king, but you should still feel welcome, especially when it comes to a wedding!

We celebrated my friend's wedding here – a day that should have been full of joy and wonderful memories. Unfortunately, the Gasthof Menning spoiled this special occasion for us. The start was anything but ideal: Because another celebration was taking place in the hall at the same time, we weren't allowed to start decorating until about an hour and a half before the wedding party arrived. For a wedding that's been planned for months, this is simply disrespectful and completely unprofessional. Things got even worse as the evening progressed: • The beer was still on tap – undrinkable and truly embarrassing for an inn. • Some guests were treated disrespectfully. Especially at a wedding, you expect cordiality, but here you felt rather unwelcome. • The venue was stuffy and poorly ventilated, so it became very unpleasant over time. • At 2:00 a.m., about 20 guests were literally thrown out – an absolute low point for a wedding. The only bright spot of the evening was the food, which was truly outstanding. High praise for the kitchen – it's a shame the rest couldn't even come close to keeping up. All in all, the Gasthof Menning's performance was a huge disappointment. Hospitality, service, and atmosphere were lacking from start to finish. Unfortunately, I cannot and would not recommend this restaurant for a wedding or other festive occasion.

I was invited to a celebration at this inn as a guest. First, the positive: the food was really delicious, high praise for the kitchen. In my opinion, that was the only positive thing. The tap didn't seem to be working at first; at least, it seemed like an eternity for the beer. Only foam came out, which of course made it difficult for the staff to pour. Afterwards, the glasses were pre-filled and stored in the fridge; if you wanted a beer, it was taken out of the fridge and just more foam was poured on top. How on earth does that happen in an inn? Have they never worked with a beer keg before? I can't explain it any other way. The staff weren't keen on this celebration from the very beginning, and this was more than evident from the service. The room was unbearably hot; I read that management wrote that this was due to the hot food and the fog machine? I've never read such nonsense before. But it really annoyed me. We're sitting at the table, step outside for a few minutes, and all our glasses are cleared away, along with a nearly full bottle of schnapps. An hour later, we're sitting at the table and the gentleman comes over and wants to clear our glasses away in front of us. We felt like we were being kicked out, and it wasn't even 10 p.m. We were only served for an hour at the beginning, after which we had to get our drinks from the bar ourselves. There had obviously been a party at the inn the evening before. A tip for the owners: If you're physically and mentally unable to handle a celebration two evenings in a row, then don't take on any orders in the first place. As it is, everyone has gone home with a bad impression of your inn. Not a single guest was satisfied—that shouldn't be the goal as a host, is it? Not to mention your inability to accept criticism.

On September 20, 2025, I was invited to a wedding reception. Unfortunately, I have to give the inn a negative review. The owner was very rude and looked as if he wasn't in the mood for the evening. He's also not open to criticism. The air conditioning was initially off, even though it felt like 30 degrees Celsius inside. Only after several complaints from guests did the owner decide to turn it on. Then came the beer incident. They served beer that had little to no carbonation. It tasted like stale beer. I then decided to drink vodka. There were more problems. You had to pay for the vodka yourself, which was fine, but... since the ladies couldn't change my money, I had to go up front to pay. First, I had to wait over 5 minutes for my change, then the owner gave me too little twice. A shot cost €2, and he charged me €3. I approached him about it and at least got my money back. Exactly the same thing happened the second time. However, I didn't feel like arguing any more and left it at that. Since I still had change, I was able to pay the ladies directly, but there was a change there too. Suddenly, I got my vodka in a Jägermeister shot glass that was only half full and with an ice cube to make it look fuller. The icing on the cake, however, was when the owner decided to end the party at 2 a.m. without warning. All guests were asked to leave the bar. There were several other incidents that I won't go into now. I've never experienced anything like this before. On the positive side, I would like to say that the service was very friendly and the food was delicious. The DJ was also top-notch. I can't recommend this bar highly enough. Answer: I wasn't concerned about the payment, but rather the payment itself. I only had three beers, hoping things would improve, since I had discussed the carbonation issue with the bride and groom. I think it's a shame that we somehow couldn't come to a consensus.

Above all, the owner didn't make us, the guests at the party, or the bride and groom feel welcome. The air conditioning wasn't turned on despite the hot day, the service was lackluster, communication was poor, and the bride and groom and guests were thrown out at 2 a.m. without warning. It's a shame about the otherwise beautiful space and the good food. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

Unfortunately, the impression at a wedding reception at this venue fell short of expectations. Right from the start, the owner's warm welcome was missing, making everyone feel unwelcome. The banquet hall was unpleasantly warm – presumably, the air conditioning wasn't turned on at all or was only working inadequately. Surprisingly, the reception ended around 2 a.m. without any prior notice. Although the food was of excellent quality, the organizational shortcomings outweighed the disappointment in my opinion. Therefore, I cannot recommend this venue.

We held our Christmas family celebration here. It was lovely, and we were well looked after. Thank you very much.

Mit 7 Personen besuchten wir diesen Gasthof ! Es war ein echt gelungener Abend mit sehr sehr gutem Essen, super Atmosphäre! Wir haben den Gasthof bewußt ausgesucht, da er den gleichen Namen trägt, wie unsere Familie. Wir waren nicht zum ersten Mal da. Es ist eben super gemütlich dort und die Reise von NL nehmen wir sehr gerne in Kauf. Nach einem Tag in der schönen Umgebung freut man sich total auf einen garantiert schönen Abend ! Ich war hier auf einer privaten Veranstaltung. Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Kellnerrinne waren auf Zack. Man kann hier aber auch so sehr gut einkehren. Das Essen ist immer sehr lecker und die Preise sind völlig in Ordnung.

Heute mal einen kleinen Happen zum Abendessen. Currywurst mit Salat ist sowas von fein. Die Schärfe harmoniert perfekt mit der Salat Sauce und auch das weissbier ist cool.

Heute einen Krusten Braten, vom Feinsten mit knackigen Gemüse und einem tollen Kartoffelbrei. Dazu ein lecker Weiss Bier vom König Ludwig. Toller Service und klasse Stimmung.

Bewertet wird: Essen, Ambiente, Personal, Parkplatz, Sauberkeit Essen: 0 Bewertet wurde hier ein Frühstücksbuffet, welches nicht gekühlt wurde und kaum Auswahl zu bieten hatte. Eine "an den Haaren herbei gezogene" Antwort. Wir - meine Frau und mein 9 Wochen alter Sohn - wurden zu einem Frühstück meines Großcousins eingeladen. Aufgrund einer kleinen Verspätung durften wir, mit dem Kinderwagen, direkt neben den Toiletten platz nehmen. An welcher Stelle wir als Gast, sofern sich jemand an uns erinnern kann, nicht den Vorstellungen der Gaststätte Menning entsprochen haben ist mir schleierhaft. Nach einem qualitativ fragwürdigen Frühstück (Welliger Käse, angetrocknete Leberwurst, trockenes Brot), sowie zwei Tassen Kaffee haben wir unseren kleinen Mann gewickelt und haben nach einem kurzen Gespräch mit dem Gatsgeber den Weg nach Hause angegangen - Wer verweilt schon gerne neben Toiletten. An dieser Stelle: Eine Wickelmöglichkeit war nicht gegeben, so dass ich unseren Sohn sehr umständlich auf einer Bank wickeln musste.

Schöne Gaststätte. Wunderbares, geschmacklich und vor allem auch hausgemachtes Essen, lädt immer wieder dazu ein, bei gepflegten Getränken mit Familie, Freunden und Bekannten einzukehren

Die Speisen lassen keine Wünsche offen, es gibt immer wieder wechselnde Gerichte, aber auch eine feste Karte. Der Service ist perfekt und lässt keine Wünsche offen.

Das Essen ist immer wieder eine echte Überraschung was die Tageskarte angeht und die Gerichte selber sind wunderbar ausgewogen und von feinstem Geschmack, man sitzt gut und es fehlt einem an nichts.
