Good menu and delicious, plentiful dishes. Unfortunately, our server seemed disinterested in the guests. They simply ignored us. Highly recommended if you don't mind waiting. Otherwise, however, the service was very prompt and friendly. Our server was apparently new.

📍Germany. Miltenberg. Gasthaus zum Riesen Feel the royal vibe. Miltenberg is a fairy tale on the banks of the Main River. The charming town with its medieval streets, half-timbered houses and cozy cafes will take you back in time. Gasthaus zum Riesen is the oldest princely inn in Miltenberg and Germany. Translated from German as the giant's house. Ludwig of Bavaria himself stayed at "Riesen" in 1314, and Charles IV lived here for 8 days in 1368. The restaurant and hotel are located in a unique building built in the Renaissance style. We spontaneously entered the restaurant; we did not have a reservation and were offered to sit at a table at the bar. It was a sunny, warm day and people were sitting on the terrace, the windows were open and the sunlight softened the dark interior of the heavy beams and created an atmosphere of comfort and lightness.

We only drank a local, non-alcoholic beer there because we didn't want to miss out on a visit to this very historic building.

As part of a holiday trip, two of us were guests at the Gasthaus zum Riesen twice. On the first evening just to quench your thirst and a pretzel. Reserved for dinner on the second evening. We had a great spot right next to the buffet. The place was packed and everything that passed us looked attractive. Our main courses were also very okay, although the dark beer sauce in my dish was very striking. For service, food, ambience, full marks.

As part of our visit to Miltenberg, we stopped for lunch at the traditional “Gasthaus zum Riesen” before our brewery tour began. Unfortunately, the culinary experience could not continue on previous visits. The liver dumpling soup as a starter was not very convincing: the broth seemed bland, the liver dumpling was rather bland, and the soup should have been served much hotter. The impression continued with the main courses. The taste of the cooked cheese schnitzel was average - the cheese was filling, but could not compensate for the mediocre quality of the schnitzel. The schnitzel with green sauce was particularly disappointing: the typical herbal note was almost completely missing, the color was more white than green, and a clear lemon note was unpleasantly dominant. The “giant pan” was also disappointing – both in terms of portion size and preparation. The loin was dry, the sauce thin and not very aromatic. What should be highlighted positively, however, are the beers, which continue to impress at the highest level and are undoubtedly unparalleled. The service was also attentive, although the tone occasionally seemed a bit too casual. All in all, the impression remains that the Gasthaus zum Riesen relies heavily on tourism and the quality suffers as a result. Given the history of the house, it would be nice if more emphasis was placed on appropriate kitchen performance again - the potential is undoubtedly there.

Were there for dinner on a Saturday. Would recommend reserving a table. There's good stuff going on here. Restaurant very quaint but harmoniously furnished. Good home-style, rather hearty and local cuisine. Friendly staff. It's also fun to look at the map. There is a beer recommendation for every dish. I had the beer brewer's pan, my wife had the schnitzel with spaetzle. Food came after about 30 minutes. Unfortunately my wife's food was already cold. It worked for me. The sauce itself was a little lacking. Otherwise the food was good. Price/performance also good. 4 stars. The tables outside are a little crooked, so don't necessarily order soup ;-)

Quaint old inn with good Franconian offerings. Very tasty and service good. The portions could be a little larger for an inn, otherwise nice atmosphere. Partly very full, we had a seat in the "Tiefen Platz" very pleasant

We visited Miltenberg over Easter. The first time we reserved the table at the giant online, the second time we went in spontaneously and were lucky. Both times the food was perfect and the staff was very friendly. We really liked the atmosphere and the food. We'll definitely be back.

Really great beer Do the beer tasting with the aperitif and then order the most delicious thing. I ate a great knuckle with really tasty classes and even the side salad was a hit with the salad dressing. We'll be back Oh and the service was really nice, attentive and very, very friendly

Six of us recently stayed at this inn and unfortunately we have to say that we were very disappointed. The food wasn't served hot, which left a bad impression. The liver in particular was tough, with a thick layer of fat and was hardly edible. Unfortunately, when I made my complaint, I was not taken seriously. The reaction of the staff was not very insightful and even a bit cheeky. Nevertheless, my food was prepared again and although it was better, it was still not enjoyable. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant. It feels more like a tourist trap where the quality of the food and service are not up to par. It's a shame, because I had hoped for more from the oldest inn in Germany.

A Bavarian gem with small weaknesses The Gasthaus zum Riesen in Miltenberg is a place where you can experience Bavarian hospitality and tradition up close. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy, and you immediately feel at home. Particularly noteworthy is the large selection of beers, which will delight every beer lover. In terms of cuisine, we were treated to a crispy and juicy knuckle that was perfectly prepared. The chocolate tart was also a real treat and a crowning conclusion to the meal. A small downer was the long wait for our food. There is still room for improvement here to optimize the service. Despite the waiting time, we can warmly recommend the Gasthaus zum Riesen because of the excellent food, the great beer selection and the unique atmosphere. It is an ideal place to spend a convivial evening with friends or family.

Unfortunately we got a cold steak. For the price of €28 you should expect a salad and no cold meat would be served. Unfortunately the price/performance ratio is not right.

We were just there for dinner. It wasn't very busy, but we still waited over an hour for our food. It's not really hot either. You'll be tearing your arm off for drinks until someone comes along.

This was our second time here, as the food was excellent the first time. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed this time. The large salad with turkey strips was very simple, with lettuce leaves, a bit of cabbage, carrot, and two slices of beetroot. The dressing was very tasty. The dish from the daily special was good; the meat was juicy and had plenty of sauce. The apple fritters at the end were unfortunately cold. Nevertheless, we would like to give the restaurant another chance, because, as I said, everything from appetizer to dessert was exceptionally good on our first visit.

Great food and service. Reservation is essential. All the dishes were excellent but the burgers with their local sauce were the tastiest. Faust, where he owns the house, produces a beer specially for the restaurant, which is super! Initially our reservation was in this "cave" and even though the shop was full they changed our seat with a smile to make us more comfortable. Definitely worth going. I have no opinion about the rooms.

A quaint and delicious inn that's a perfect stop on a scenic motorcycle tour. Delicious food, good beer to try, and a very beautiful setting. I'd love to come back.

The drinks and food are undoubtedly excellent! But what's much more important about this inn is the history behind it... it's one of the oldest inns in Germany. Elvis Presley and other famous people have been guests there.

The food is generally of good quality. The dishes are served quickly, which is a positive surprise considering the crowds. The service is friendly, attentive and remains professional even when it's busy. The ambience of the inn is another plus point: the mix of historical and modern construction gives the place a special charm. However, in the evening when the dining room is full, it can get a little louder due to the acoustics. In summer there is also an outdoor area available to guests. Conclusion: The Gasthaus Zum Riesen scores with good food, a great beer selection, friendly service and a special ambience. For a cozy evening or a meeting with friends.

I can only judge the food as we only ate there... excellent! Even the sauces are homemade and not convenience, as is often the case. Nice, attentive staff. However, it is very loud there because it is very crowded. But it's also justified - it's a super cozy location with excellent food! Ideally reserve a table on the weekend!

Table reservation is absolutely necessary. There's something on the menu for everyone here. Our giant pan with loin and spaetzle and champions was very tasty. Price-performance is ok. Despite the large number of guests, the friendly staff always had a good overview. Highly recommended, we will definitely come back.

We only rate the restaurant: Quaint restaurant, very full, difficult to get a seat (you have to reserve it in advance). After we "got hold" of it, we had a very extensive selection of beer, very unusual, the mini tasting glass for 1.50 euros was a good idea! That Unfortunately, the food was very salty, the portions weren't particularly large and so we weren't full. Is that because it's a tourist town and therefore always full? Conclusion: Interior is special, selection of drinks is great, food is okay, service is mediocre, volume is high.

I've been there very often. Nice clocky restaurant. The food has been of consistent quality for years and the beer on offer is from the Faust brewery. I never heard any complaints from the escorts either. Therefore 100% 5 stars.

We were only here to eat, so I can't say anything about the rooms. Beautiful, rustic restaurant in the heart of Miltenberg. We had liver dumpling soup and meatballs with dark beer sauce, fried potatoes and salad. Unfortunately the meatballs were cold. But it was immediately improved. And they tasted very good hot. Very worthy meat and aromatic sauce. The dumpling was also very spicy. All in all, a nice restaurant with friendly service and good food. If you want to eat later in the evening, you should make a reservation. Would love to come back.

I found it very loud and the food was mediocre

We went to the restaurant again for a nightcap. The Bacchus selected on the menu is very tasty and drinkable. Chicly furnished restaurant and fits the rented hotel. Staff friendly and attentive. Hopefully next time it will work out for dinner, unfortunately everything was fully booked this evening... no wonder.

We didn't stay here, we had lunch. The friendly service is unfortunately overloaded. Bayrisch Hell beer has a metallic aftertaste. The wheat yeast light is sour and probably has an infection. When you ask, you get the answer that it has always been that way and that so much wheat has already been sold today, I would be the first to have a problem with it. The fried potatoes do NOT deserve the names because they were only warmed up in the pan, but they were definitely NOT fried.

Quaint inn. But very loud. Unbearable on the first floor in hot weather. Service very nice. Food average. Beer good. I don't understand why people who haven't made a reservation aren't allowed in even though there's space.

The beds are a bit short. 😁If you're a size 186, your feet hit the end of the bed. But otherwise the rooms are very historically furnished and a bit cramped.

We wanted to go there for dinner this evening, but didn't have a reservation. When we asked for a free table, two waitresses gave us mushy answers and we were simply left standing inside like idiots. Something like that doesn't show hospitality, no matter what! Friendly is always possible, as we found out in another restaurant. Such behavior without words and actually not even worth 1 star!!

After visiting the St. KILIAN whiskey distillery nearby in Rüdenau, we ate at the Riesen restaurant in the small beer garden. It is located in the middle of the beautiful old town with a view of the half-timbered houses. Wonderful. The food was good, but no surprise, good German cuisine. This time, braised beef.

Catastrophe, same story every time. I came to it and all the tables inside were ordered (as always) but there are many tables in the shade outside next to the street where the main entrance is but “it has been ordered”. I ask where we can sit?? "We only have space outside on the corner" when it's 33 degrees and sitting or eating in full sun, that's sickening. The place simply doesn't work. My foot will never step there again!!! Whoever is in the restaurant or is blind or disabled simply doesn't care about customers!!!

However, the main focus seems to be on the presentation of the sometimes very tasty beer from the Faust brewery, because in my opinion the food is not really recommended and the extremely thick, tasteless sauce is the negative highlight.

One of the oldest inns in Germany. In the middle of the old town. Food is super tasty, the staff is quick and friendly. Always go there on special occasions. If there are a large number of people, I would make a reservation (you can also do this online). The small vaulted room is very nice, but mostly occupied (max. 5-6 people). EC payment possible. Not far from the Main, so you can combine it with a walk or take a look at the old town.

I didn't spend the night, but had an excellent meal (spinach dumplings) and drank 3 half-light drinks with it. Top service in the beautiful outdoor area. The ambience inside is beautifully historic and finely furnished. Thank you - I'll definitely come back.

The restaurant is cozy, the service is friendly, and the food is always good and plentiful. Unfortunately it is very loud. Silencers, like the ones you often see in restaurants, would be great. These are attached to the ceiling. We'd love to come back.

We went there for dinner and it was excellent. A fine little card, isn't it? exaggerated, regional cuisine and also sophisticated dishes. All of this in a great atmosphere and at fair prices. Most of the food is cooked fresh and finished products have no home here. Any time. The service was also great and friendly.
