Friendly staff and the burgers were okay, but otherwise a real disappointment. The chili cheese fries, for almost €10, came in a bowl with a napkin, so bits of it stuck to the fries – absolutely inedible, and a tiny portion at that. The highlight, however, was the kids' meal: €13.90 for a couple of spaetzle with watery sauce. The menu said it should have been cheese spaetzle with special cheese (reduced from €17.90), but instead we got a cheap version that in no way reflects the price. This is simply a rip-off. The bottom line: Friendly, yes, but completely out of place for the price. If you don't want to be annoyed after eating because of hidden concessions and exorbitant prices, you should go somewhere else.

Highly recommended, as the price-performance ratio is just right. Super nice, friendly service.

I've never given a 1-star review, but if I could, I wouldn't give this one at all 😔. We came here because the restaurant looks really nice and appealing from the outside, but that's about it... Unfortunately! The price-performance ratio doesn't match up at all here. I had spaetzle with sliced ​​meat and gravy. The spaetzle sauce was overcooked (when I could find it, which was barely there) and tasted absolutely nothing like gravy. Then, as for the sliced ​​meat, there were a handful of fried chicken cubes placed on top of the spaetzle. That's it. My husband got his schnitzel after we were all finished eating and the table next to us (who arrived later than us) got theirs. The burgers were a bit small for €14, and you have to pay extra for the fries, which you didn't see on the menu, but the waiter offered it to you when you ordered 🤯. I could address a few more points, but the reviews mentioned above basically say everything that needs to be said. It's neither exaggerated nor over-the-top. Unfortunately, it's disappointing, and perhaps the owner should take a few reviews to heart and change something.

Service was nice. The food took forever, and hunger dragged it down. The outdoor seating was very nice. Nevertheless, we won't be going there again.

For a €25 schnitzel, I would have expected more. The portion size was okay, but the flavor could have been improved. The salad dressing at the bottom needed to be added.

Unfortunately, neither the pizzas nor the burgers tasted very bad. They weren't really tasty. I just wanted some corn on a small slice of pizza for my daughter. They charged us €3 for that. So I counted, and there were about 25 kernels. I think that's a disgrace, and I don't want to tip for it.

We were out as tourists and saw this restaurant. Everything looked very nice, so we said that four adults and two kids would eat here. First of all, the prices are really too high. Cheese spaetzle was almost 18 euros. We ordered two Swabian sausage salads, two fries for the kids, a Waldsee salad, and a pizza. Only the Waldsee salad came with bread, three small slices, and it was moldy. When we told the waiter this, he brought new bread without apologizing. The sausage salad, especially Swabian sausage salad, was without dressing; it was completely dry and without bread. Bread costs extra and there is no dressing. As a local, I don't know how to make a Swabian sausage salad. The kids' fries were OK; you can normally go wrong with a lot. Everyone had finished eating and then my pizza arrived. The pizza is prepared and brought by the restaurant next door. The floor was irritating. The restaurant was a complete flop, a typical way of ripping off tourists and visitors. Waiters were totally overwhelmed with everything except paying.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing visit. I had chicken breast with spaetzle – the meat was undercooked (still raw inside), and the portion consisted of just six small pieces of meat for just under €20. My mother had a pork schnitzel with fries – the fries were cold when they arrived. In response to our complaint, the owner simply stated that he would "pass it on to the kitchen." No concession, no apology, or suggestion for a solution. For the prices charged, we would have expected significantly better quality and, above all, friendlier customer service. Unfortunately, not recommended.

Absolutely not recommended, we have never eaten as badly as in this place, the price/performance ratio is absolutely not right!!!

It's difficult for me to give an objective review here. We simply feel ripped off and are furious. I'll try anyway... The server was friendly and attentive. Drinks and food arrived quickly. But the prices are a complete rip-off! A so-called Swabian Bowl (a salad consisting only of green lettuce, four small cocktail tomatoes, and a homeopathic dose of feta cheese. Topped with two sliced Maultaschen (ravioli). What's supposed to be Swabian here?? And the whole thing costs €17. A 9cm diameter burger without any side dish costs €15. A handful of fries on the side costs an extra €5. So, €20. That's where the objective ends. Charging so much money for such poor quality and food is simply a rip-off and outrageous. Once and never again. This shouldn't be rewarded... ATTENTION: Addendum. The tenant changed on April 1, 2025. So it has nothing to do with the older (good) reviews.

Saturday, July 19, 2025, just before 9 p.m., I just wanted a little something (sausage salad), but unfortunately, I was turned away—there's nothing left (the restaurant is open until 10 p.m.). HELLO, I was asking for a SAUSAGE SALAD!!! It couldn't be more negative—luckily, new tenants will be taking over starting in fall 2025, because the current ones are absolutely not the right ones for the Hirschen!

The service was very friendly, the atmosphere was very pleasant, and the location was central. The food was disappointing and overpriced for the quality. The snack platter felt like I'd bought it at Aldi.

Great location, beautiful half-timbered house, but: poor food! Maultauschen tastes better at the supermarket.

Freundliches Personal. Essen könnte um einiges besser sein. Schade, kann ich nicht empfehlen. Kleines Schnitzel sollte "mini" heissen. Hirschensalat spiegelt bei weitem nicht das Gasthaus!

Had schnitzel with fries and salad. By far the best part were the fries. The lettuce was wilted and the three kernels of corn and a few sticks of carrot could have been left out. The sauce was obviously empty in the kitchen, at least that's my impression, as I've never had a salad with so little sauce. The schnitzel was weak and the breading was non-existent. The price-performance ratio is really not good. At least not for this dish. The Cologne waiter only brought a small mushroom schnitzel when I asked for it instead of the large non-alcoholic schnitzel I ordered, and the large schnitzel instead of the regular one. Even though it's located right next to the town hall in the pedestrian zone, I can't recommend it.

Hatte Schnitzel mit Pommes und Salat. Mit Abstand das beste waren die Pommes. Der Salat war welk und die drei Maiskörner und wenige Stifte Karotte hätte man auch noch weglassen können. Die Soße war offenbar leer In der Küche, jedenfalls ist das mein Eindruck, den ein Salat mit so wenig Soße habe ich tatsächlich noch nie erhalten. Das Schnitzel war zeh und die Panade war auch nicht existent. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt wirklich nicht. Zumindest nicht bei diesem Gericht. Der Kölner hat statt dem bestellten großen Alkoholfreien Pilz erst auf Nachfrage ein kleines gebracht und statt dem normalen Schnitzel das große. Auch wenn es direkt am Rathaus in der Fußgängerzone gelegen ist, kann ich es nicht weiterempfehlen.

The manager of the Hasen wine bar recommended we go to the Gasthaus zum Hirschen. When we arrived at the restaurant, we ordered drinks and something to eat. We waited an hour for the food. We considered whether to say something and complain, but we accepted it. The food arrived and I got a Waldsee salad that really only had five large lettuce leaves and an Iglo fish on top, for €18.60. That's really a disgrace. I had expected a bit more, and I also ordered a lemon soda. When I finally wanted to pay, I gave the waiter €25, and he deliberately pocketed the remaining €2.70 without me saying anything. It was a tip for him, and I had to tell him to give me the change back. Sorry, but that's just not acceptable: bad service, bad attitude, bad food, and then you have such self-confidence and rip off the customer for the rest of their money. 🥲 I don't recommend this restaurant.

We had a great table reservation, the service was super friendly, special requests were accommodated, and the team was competent. We'll be back. The menu is small and exquisite. We don't need 100 different dishes, but the 20 are fine. We had a great evening.

Auf der Suche nach einem Absacker mit Glühwein ging ich kurz rein zum Nachfragen. Ich wartete an der Theke in einem Raum mit leeren Tischen und Reserviertschildern. Es gab keinen Glühwein, aber schon alleine vom Durchlaufen im Gang mit der Küche, rochen meine Haare noch den ganzen Abend nach altem Frittierfett. Gute Gelegenheit um zu erkennen, dass wir hier nicht einkehren wollen.

Draussen im Gastgarten durften wir uns einen Tisch aussuchen. Die Karte ist nicht riesig, bietet aber viele gutbürgerliche Gerichte an, genauso wie die Tageskarte. Egal was man bestellt, man geht eigentlich nicht falsch. Alles was uns vorgesetzt wurde schmeckte gut und war in genügend grossen Portionen. Einzig die Präsentation auf den Tellern könnte etwas besser sein. Der Service war ok, die Preise verhältnismässig günstig.

We decided on the restaurant and were looking forward to authentic Swabian cuisine, but unfortunately we realized that the spaetzle wasn't homemade, but bought. Unfortunately, this was seen and tasted. I understand that sometimes not everything can be made fresh in a kitchen, but spaetzle is the culinary flagship of the region and you could expect such a long-established, home-style traditional restaurant to have decent spaetzle. There are two stars for the low price and the service, which at least admitted that the spaetzle had been bought!

Restaurant with outdoor dining located in the pedestrian zone. Prices on the menu initially put me off, but the quality and taste justify it. When it comes to service, there is room for improvement. ich wollte eigentlich in den grünen Baum weil ich gerne Kutteln essen wollte. Aber der hatte leider Ruhetag , deshalb mussten wir uns anderst Orientierten. Und was liegt da näher als einfach auf die andere Strassenseite zu gehen wo das Gasthaus Hirsch ist .Es war gerade 17 Uhr und die Küche hatte auch schön geöffnet. Auf der schönen Terrasse kann man schön das Treiben in der Waldseer - City beobachten. Wir probierten Gebratenen Zander ,Maultaschen ,Schnitzel und Käsespätzle. Das war alles sehr gut gekoch und lecker. der Service war freundlich und flink so das wie gegen 18 Uhr auch schon weiter konnten. Das hat spass gemacht wir kommen gerne wieder

Simple canteen food. Ingredients consist mainly of frozen industrial products. Not for gourmets. Prices are quite inflated. Currywurst with fries that are baked far too lightly cost more than 13 euros, i.e. the margin is around 1000%. I don't think the atmosphere is that great either. The place was obviously badly rusticated. Audience largely consists of grumpy rehab patients. I find it more comfortable in some snack bars. And also significantly cheaper and tastier.

After waiting for 15 minutes, I asked inside whether a service would come outside. The lady behind the counter answered everything in turn. Besides, I would be free and have time. (it was late Saturday afternoon) I thought to myself whether this was Baden-Würtenberg hospitality? In any case, I decided to stop at the inn opposite. When there was a lot of activity, the waitress brought the menu straight after we sat down.

Good economy, service is good. Food selection clear. Great atmosphere outside in summer. However, the hallway to the toilets is overshadowed by the smell of the kitchen and deep fryer and the stairs up to the women's toilet are also overshadowed.

The restaurant offers a first-class culinary experience with a welcoming ambience, excellent service and delicious dishes. The variety of the menu and the quality of the ingredients are impressive. Highly Recommended!

Original German inn, ambience a bit dated, but excellent food, large portions at normal prices. Service friendly. If you like delicious food without a lot of fuss, this is the place for you.

Food was completely fine but the kitchen was completely overloaded. Guests arriving after us were even turned away for this reason.

Nach einer Umrundung des schönen Stadtsees sind wir im Hirschen eingekehrt. Ich habe Maultaschen mit Kartoffelsalat und Soße bestellt, meine Frau das überbackene Putensteak mit Rahmsosse und Kroketten. Beides war absolut lecker und reichlich. Bedienung freundlich und aufmerksam. Uriges Ambiente. Sehr zu empfehlen. Preise angemessen.

Super schöner und sehr zentraler Standort, in historischem Fachwerkbau. Wir konnten wunderbar draußen sitzen, die Bedienung war schnell und freundlich, das Essen ein Gedicht mit lokalem Fokus. Am Preis-Leistungsverhältnis kann man auch nicht meckern.

Essen hervorragend Bedienung super freundlich es hat sich gelohnt hierher zu fahren. Unglaublich aber es war noch besser, was kaum noch möglich war.

Bratwurst mit Kartoffelsalat, Bratwurst war gut, Kartoffelsalat kein Genuss. Sorry, Eimerware und eiskalt. Geht gar nicht. Maultschensuppe vom Partner auch nichts besonderes. Eine gute Fleischsuppe schmeckt anders. Zum raus sitzen und Bier trinken im Sommer ist der Hirschen ok.

Der Empfang am Sonntagmittag war sehr nett und machte gleich einen überzeugenden Eindruck von Gastfreundlichkeit. Nachdem uns der reservierte Tisch zugewiesen wurde kam auch schon eine sehr freundliche Servicekraft um die Getränkebestellung aufzunehmen. Als die Getränke dann serviert wurden gaben wir unsere Essenbestellung auf. Dann kam eine sehr lange Wartezeit. Wir warteten fast 60 Minuten, allerdings konnte man den aus der Küche hörbaren Geräuschen entnehmen dass die Speisen allesamt frisch zubereitet wurden. Die Qualität der Speisen entschädigt dann wiederum die Wartezeit und die Quantität ist zum Preisverhältnis ausgewogen. Für die doch recht lange Wartezeit ziehe ich ein Stern ab. Ansonsten empfehlenswerte Location mit identischem Flair in der Innenausstattung.

Urige Kneipe mit großem Aussenbereich und wirklich gutem Essen. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Bei fast jedem Besuch in Bad Waldsee sind wir hier zum Essen.

Waren dort zum Mittag Essen. War ok 👌. Braten sehr gut zu essen wenn man keine Zähne hat aber ist ja Geschmackssache. Es war zu weich. Schnitzel, Pommes waren sehr gut 👍 Bedienung war sehr gestresst rum gerannt aber freundlich 😊

Leider kann ich unseren Besuch in der Mittagszeit nicht GUT bewerten. Wir saßen keine Minute und wurden schon gefragt, was wir DENN MÖCHTEN. Sorry wir sind schon schnell im Lesen, aber man muss zumindest die Zeit haben um die Karte aufzuschlagen. Die Karte war dann sehr chaotisch, ersten zwei Seiten Getränke dann eine Seite Speisen dann wieder Getränke und so ging es weiter. Das Essen war sehr schlecht. Die Ofenkartoffel war kalt und unserer Meinung nicht FRISCH im Ofen zubereitet. Das Mini Stück Fleisch war zäh. Das Beste war der Quark zur ( Ofenkartoffel) . So schlecht haben wir schon lange nicht mehr gegessen. Die 2 Sterne vergeben wir an den jungen Mann im Service .

Hervorragende Küche. Ich empfehle den Schwabenteller. Aktuell bekommt man oft Erdbeerbowle angeboten. Diese hier verdient den Namen wirklich. Wir kommen wieder.

Gut Bürgerliches Restaurant, freundliches Personal, leckeres Essen, Preis Leistung O.K.

Freundliche, gut bürgerliche Atmosphäre. Bedienung freundlich, Küche einwandfrei, Bier kalt, große Saftauswahl.

Uriges, rustikales Restaurant mit schwäbischer Küche, authentischem Stammtisch und gutem Most und Wein. Empfehlungeswert ist die Tageskarte die liebevoll auf Tafeln aufgeschrieben ist. Geschmackvoll angerichtete Teller runden das schöne Bild eines schönes Abendessens ab.

Während unseres Wochenendes in Bad Waldsee haben wir uns für ein Abendessen im Hirsch entschieden. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Für unsere Tochter hat sie sofort angeboten Spielsachen zu organisieren und ein Kinderschnitzel angeboten, welcherart nicht auf der Karten stand. Die Tageskarte ist klein aber abwechslungsreich, dazu gab es noch eine Kreidetafel. Leider war das Wiener Schnitzel schon ausverkauft. Das zeigt aber nur von frischer Zubereitung. Entsprechend lecker waren dann auch der Hirschbraten und der Schwabenteller. Und auch unserer Tochter hat das Schnitzel sehr geschmeckt.

Das Essen ist lecker, aber leider werden wir nicht mehr kommen. Die Bedienung ist sehr unfreundlich und unhöflich, geht nicht auf Gäste ein und wurde schnell laut.

Heute haben wir uns für den Hirschen entschieden. Wir wurden freudlich bedient und das Essen, einmal Zwiebeltostbraten und einmal Fisch, hat uns gut geschmeckt. Wir werden, wenn wir wieder mal in der Gegend sind, hier zu Besuch kommen. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft.

Das Ambiente des Gasthauses ist eher durchschnitt und ohne jegliche Akzente. Das Essen besteht größtenteils aus TK-Ware und wird eher lieblos und uninspiriert angerichtet. Insgesamt sehr recht enttäuschend.

Most restaurants in Germany and especially in Bavaria or Baden-Würtenberg are usually very good with local food. The Hirschen is no exception to this rule. So visit and enjoy.
