Wonderful service, a brilliant wine list and creative pub cuisine with some surprises like the Ösi Ramen! An all-round successful evening, we will definitely be back.

The quality of the food is beyond doubt. Everything was very fresh and very well prepared. The service was reasonably good for a restaurant in this price range. Dinner was booked well in advance. Nevertheless, with free seats in the Schanigarten, we were the only guests (guests inside were added much later) - and were seated in the empty guest room in hot and humid weather. Unfortunately, I experience this again and again, even with upscale restaurants and long advance bookings, and I give a significant point deduction for it.

Overall an enjoyable dinner at GW. The best dish of the night was the sour marinated beef. Thinly sliced with great sour flavor the dish was a surprise but in a good way. The spaetzle with mushrooms was ok. It lacked seasoning. The rib eye was good overall. I wish the meat was a bit more tender. But the sauce and pommes dauphine was very good and helped the dish. The place is popular. The service attentive.

We went to this restaurant for lunch located in an area close to the old town. A la carte menu or 3-course formula consisting of à la carte dishes. Local and regional products. The dishes are well crafted and very well cooked. The wine list offers a wide choice at very affordable prices for all types of budgets. The staff knows the wine list well and gives very good advice. The owner is welcoming, attentive and attentive. The setting is very pleasant with an outside terrace made up of several tables and a well decorated interior. A very good address in Munich. Great discovery. Only point to improve: when booking I had specified that it was my wife's birthday but this information was forgotten during lunch.

Very tasty food and great service

Excellent dinner this evening. First inside, then moved to the patio once a table opened. Inventive takes on Bavarian and Austrian cuisine — each course outstanding, and a helpful and friendly staff who are also knowledgeable about wine. Beef croquettes and venison ragout were highlights of the meal. Will be back the next time I find myself in Munich.

Lunch menu perfect in price/ratio. Everything was good, but nothing special. When we expected in a Bib Gourmand restaurant.

Nice shop with upscale Austrian tavern cuisine. Great ambience, good cuisine, nice service. In order to make it all work out, the wine prices would have to be cheaper, which spoils the whole fun a little.

We were on our way home and felt like having an espresso and maybe a digestive. The question about visiting the location was awe-inspiring! This is pure arrogance! Prices are unbelievable! Welcome to the new Glockenbachviertel! n, this is a basic need. I don't want to be petty, but kindness is something else.

It had finesse, it had courage, it had moments of surprise, it had tradition. The vegetarian dishes were also very convincing. The restaurant is very chic and the employees are very friendly and in a good mood. Top shop, full marks from me!

I had a truly impeccable meal at the Gasthaus Waltz! Everything from the food to service to presentation was top notch. There was so much love and care behind each dish and care for each patron. I started my meal with a glass of rosé and bread service followed by the chard dish. For my main course I had the beef ragout with spätzle and side salad. Last but not least, for dessert I had the homemade ice cream topped with pumpkin seeds in pumpkin seed oil made by the owner's grandmother. Truly a family affair! Each dish was rich with flavor and detail - definitely a highlight dining experience during my visit to Munich.

Very high demands on your own kitchen. Good starting products. Innovative ideas. Fresh cuisine meets Austrian classics. The extensive map becomes noticeable during implementation. If a table of four orders a five-course menu and everyone at the table orders something different than the rest for each course, this will show in the execution and timing. Even if it's great for the guests to put everything together individually, it's a lot of stress for the kitchen team. Less would be more. You can still tweak the look of one or two dishes. This especially applies to the desserts. But they are still delicious. And preferably be a little more economical with the salt in the main dishes. But it's whining at a high level. Here you can eat well and modernly. The wines are also carefully put together, albeit confidently calculated. On the other hand, the food is very reasonably priced. Service attentive and courteous. We are excited to see what the kitchen plans and cooks next and wish you all the best.

Exceptional taste combinations and regional dishes, for example with beans or kohlrabi. Always with you: delicious bread from Julius Brandner, a good glass of wine and very friendly and attentive waiters with an Austrian dialect.

Apart from the best Wiener Schnitzel in Munich, if not beyond that :)))...The Waltz is a wonderful inn with excellent food and selected wines. Everything is very calm, but at a high level. We really like it that way! Keep it up everyone, thanks everyone and we're looking forward to next time :))))

The Austrian restaurant Waltz left a mixed impression. I think the claim that they offer the best schnitzel in the city is questionable. This assessment is always subjective. For me, the schnitzel consisted of more breading than meat. The meat was pounded very thin, so the ratio of meat to breading wasn't good in my opinion. I want to eat meat, not buttery breading. The schnitzel made such a “dry” impression Mouth. The char siew, served with a few apple slices, was okay, but it doesn't take any special talent to make this dish. The soup was also acceptable. There are only three main courses to choose from at lunchtime. That's it. The service was very friendly, which is why I still give it a few stars. However, I cannot understand the hype surrounding the Waltz. In Munich, many pubs offer similar dishes at fairer prices. Yes, there is a great wine selection but it's better to have 3 good wines instead of 3 mediocre main courses. We also waited an hour for the main course. There were less than 10 guests in the restaurant.

Best restaurant I tried while in Germany and potentially one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Each dish was perfect - presentation, taste, quantity were all spot on. It was unpretentious, amazing quality and a memorable experience. Full of locals and definitely not a tourist trap. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

We were guests with six people for a birthday. The welcome, as well as the subsequent service, was naturally extremely friendly, relaxed, competent and almost familiar, without seeming artificial. All expectations that the food and drink menu aroused and which are supported by the company's own demands according to the homepage were excellently fulfilled in the following 4.5 hours. We felt extremely comfortable in every respect and had the impression that this was the same at all the other tables in the fully occupied dining room.

Overall fantastic restaurant. We were a group of 6 and had 5 courses with the wine pairing. Loved everything.

Anyone who likes a cozy and warm atmosphere is in good hands at Gasthaus Waltz. The service is always friendly and tries hard to make all guests happy. The kitchen also contributes a lot to the happiness of the guests. Here Austria is brought to the plate in a more refined, modern form. The glasses don't stay empty either and can be filled with a splash or a good drop from the large selection from top wineries.

Food good, service on the highest level, ambience and location excellent. Exciting wine list, somewhat unfocused advice. Meatballs tasty, but not really surprising. Recommended, no question. But a little more attention to detail, daily specials, special ideas would be desirable.

We were here in a larger group and were pampered in the best possible way, with great food and fine wines, and funny and attentive service.

Small and fine restaurant with excellent service that anticipates your wishes. Fine cuisine with a surprisingly light extravagance in taste. Very special and therefore a real experience. We will be back. 🫶🏼

I like to give 5 stars for the food with a twist, the delicious wines and the super friendly service. Personally, it just took too long for me. 1.5 hours until the main course was served, another hour until the dessert arrived. In total it took over 3 hours for 3 courses.

More by chance, with a look at the Michelin Guide and because almost all other (good) restaurants in Munich are closed on Mondays, (my) friend and I found our way to the Gasthaus Waltz, which is somewhat disguised by the description “modern Alpine cuisine”. Fortunately, in the Michelin Guide it even turned out to be an Austrian enclave and therefore a welcome change in the midst of Munich's omnipresent pork roastery. Five courses in four relaxed hours, hospitably moderated by three hosts accompanied by two wonderful wines, gave us a happy evening. We found the fact that we were completely free to choose our five courses from all the dishes described on the tidy menu and were also able to try two main courses, just as we found each individual course, extremely “easy”. The fact that the “red Austrians” only have my favorite grape Blaufränkisch on the wine list from various winemakers in several regions is available for a variety of selections. I find it cheeky, patriotic and consistent from Gasthaus Waltz, where you should definitely be a guest at least once as a connoisseur. so that we will most likely come back on our next visit to Munich.

Wonderful, quaint, very good staff and very good food, but the acoustics in the room are difficult, very loud, this should be improved - otherwise really nice!

Not a lot of words needed... Simply perfect in all forms in my opinion. Sure, this is not a cheap restaurant... But it is absolutely fair and 100% worth it considering quality and service.

Addendum to the restaurant's response: I have nothing to do with Mr. Fitz's assessment, let alone know them. Our visit wasn't on the same day either, we were guests at your place on Monday evening! So please don't generalize everything and try to deal with criticism correctly! Warm greetings from Styria! Unfortunately, I have to agree with Mr. Fitz's assessment. You immediately notice that you deliberately want to boost sales a bit with the demand for an aperitif, digestive, etc. (which is also legitimate but just noticeable)! Unfortunately, we also noticed that the sparkling wines were served much too warm, which was no different with the white wine and, as already described, at very high prices. So a bottle of white wine that costs €60 should be served professionally. The kitchen is good but I wouldn't say special! Simply and neatly prepared but nothing extraordinary. The curd dumplings scored points, but the liver pâté was not recommended. The service was friendly, charming and accommodating but ultimately the overall package wasn't right for me personally for the price. Wine list extremely expensive and menu with very little choice!

With reference to your comment on the review by Mr. Alexander Fritz - I would like to add that we can definitely distinguish between gourmet and star gastronomy - apart from the price, nothing reminds you of an upscale store, especially based on your comment. If I can be even clearer - wines that you buy in restaurants for between 20 and 30 euros are sold on the menu for 155 euros - then I don't want to know how the 35 euro wines on your menu taste. Leaving the restaurant hungry during a so-called 4-course menu because the portions are similar to a children's restaurant doesn't necessarily have anything to do with an upscale restaurant. Fake Austrian friendliness - not more sales-oriented either. If you have to give my opinion, a simple I'm sorry you didn't like it with us would be a thousand times more professional than trying to wriggle out of everything and portray the guest as stupid! With this in mind - continued good business!

I went to GH Waltz for the first time with a friend on Friday, we felt very comfortable there...then I went again the next day for dinner with my wife. I found the food to be very good, the wine selection was great and the service staff were very friendly and accommodating. If one wanted to find a point of criticism, it would be the 'Munich-typical' narrow seating and the increasing volume as the number of guests increases. Wish you all the best and we will see each other again.

We were in the restaurant on Sunday evening with a group of 8 people after registering by phone. We decided on a 4-course surprise menu for 65 per person. the service was courteous and sales or revenue oriented. So aperitif glasses for 25 were quickly at the table, but the champagne was served a little too warm. The food was down to earth but very simple. In our opinion not worth the price charged. The portions were such that after the 4-course menu we either had to order dessert or leave the restaurant hungry. The wine list is varied, but the prices are very exorbitant. Since we come from the wine industry ourselves and are familiar with the usual mark-ups, we can say that the mark-up rate for the catering industry is far too high for various wines. The fake Austrian service orientation didn't work for us. We cannot recommend the restaurant and will not come back.

Tja, was soll der austrophile Münchner anderes sagen als ‚Oida!‘? Super Service, hervorragende Küche und die Weinkarte lässt keine Wünsche offen. Besonders toll finde ich, dass man sich beim Gänge-Menü quer über die Karte austoben kann. Absolute Empfehlung!

Gasthaus ist bzgl. der hohen Qualität der Speisen, der erstklassigen Weinauswahl sowie des unaufdringlichen aber beratenden Service, leicht untertrieben! Schlicht eines der best besten österreichischen Restaurants nördlich von Wien oder Salzburg!

Offensichtlicher Hype für uns nicht nachvollziehbar. Der Empfang und der Service war sehr freundlich und das Ambiente eher nüchtern. Unser Menü war o. k., nicht überragend und das Schnitzel war gut. Als Beilage zum Schnitzel wurde - für uns nicht passend - Risi-Bisi (Butterreis mit Erbsen) angeboten. Dem wäre jede Art von Kartoffel unseres Erachtens besser passend.

Wir waren gestern zu fünft in diesem Gasthaus und hatten alle das 4 Gang Menü. Ich habe glaube ich kaum jemals einen besseren Service erlebt als hier. Extrem aufmerksam , freundlich von Anfang bis Ende. Richtig klasse. Die Preise sind gehoben, alles wirkt ungezwungen und locker. Das Essen war hervorragend, wenn gleich die Portionen (in meinem Fall z.B. der Schweinebauch) ein wenig größer sein könnten für mein Empfinden. Aber in jedem Fall empfehlenswert.

Ein kleiner Ausflug nach Österreich! Es gibt ja mittlerweile einige Lokale in München in denen es gute österreichische Küche gibt. Von denen die ich kenne sticht das Waltz heraus! Perfekter Service (wie man vom Nachbarland kennt), dazu eine erlesene Speise- und Weinkarte und das ganze in einer richtigen Wohlfühlatmosphäre. Essen kommt flott auf den Tisch und schmeckt hervorragend. Und bei der Nachspeise geht der letzte Grantler in die Knie. Weiter so, liebes Gasthaus Waltz! Hier bin ich gerne Gast, komme ganz bestimmt wieder!

Wir haben einer super Abend im Gasthaus Waltz verbracht. Essen war super und der Service war hervorragend! Ganze Team war super nett und dementsprechend war die Atmosphäre sehr entspannt. Weinempfehlungen waren perfekt für uns!

tolles Wiener Schnitzel, Beilage Rise Bisi, Mal was anderes. Super toller Service, sogar die Jacke wird aufgehängt. Ich fand's ein bisschen kühl im Gastraum. Aktuell bin ich aber auch ziemlich verfroren.

LE meilleur restaurant à Munich

Leider überschätzt und überteuert. Das Backhendl war total trocken und die Kartoffeln im Kartoffelsalat sehr al dente. Beim Abräumen wurde ich gefragt wie es war und ich ich sagte geht so. Dies wurde kommentarlos zur Kenntnis genommen. Für mich gibts leider kein zweites Mal.

We had a very nice dinner experience here with a larger group. Service was friendly and fast, glasses never empty. The food was very good, enjoyed the trout mousse, truffle spatzle and the sturgeon. Delicious Christmas dessert too.

Ein sehr schmackhaftes Essen. Österreich lässt grüßen. Aufmerksamer und sehr freundlicher Service. Etwas getrübt wurde der Eindruck durch die üppigen Preise für Wein. Habe erschwinglichere Weine vermisst. Der Lärmpegel war mir zu hoch. Für jüngere Gäste aber sicher akzeptabel.

Essen und Trinken überragend! 2* Abzug im Service: 1. bei der Onlinebuchung wurde nach einem Anlass gefragt. Der Geburtstag wurde leider in keiner Weise im Restaurant beachtet. 2. Kleines Plastikteil im Essen gefunden. Nicht weiter schlimm, jedoch gab es keinerlei Entschuldigung vom Service, als wir darauf hingewiesen haben (oder ein Schnaps aufs Haus)

Die Küche ist hervorragend und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis finde ich völlig angemessen. Wein und Sekt waren ebenfalls gut, aber teurer als ich erwartet hätte. Als "außergewöhnlich" stufe ich den Service ein, sehr freundlich aufmerksam, charmant. Das Lokal war entsprechend sehr gut besucht und da wäre der Punkt, der den Genuss etwas getrübt hat: Der Lärmpegel. Viele Leute sind laut und bei dem Versuch sich verständlich zu machen noch lauter. Warum dann auch noch zusätzlich Musikbeschallung sein muss, versteh ich nicht, zumal nur noch die nervigen Bässe im ohnehin überlasteten Innenohr ankommen. Ich würde zu weiteren schalldämmenden Maßnahmen raten. Zwar wurde unter den Tischen schon Schaumstoff angebracht und die Platten an den Decken haben nehme ich an den gleichen Zweck. Aber da geht vielleicht noch was. Die Gretchenfrage "Würde ich das Lokal weiterempfehlen?" Unbedingt würde ich sagen, aber nur an Menschen, die weniger lärmempfindlich sind als ich.

Großartiges Wirtshaus mit gehobener österreichischer Küche und exzellenter Weinkarte! Wir waren zu zweit an einem Montagabend und haben das 4-Gang-Menü genossen. Es hat uns gefallen, dass man die Gerichte von der Karte frei kombinieren kann. Der gebeizte Stör, der Kürbis, die Kalbsbackerl und der Käsegang waren allesamt sehr gut, tolle regionale Produkte und kreative Zubereitung. Zu jedem Gang gab es ein passendes Glaserl Wein. Der Service war zuvorkommend und charmant, die Atmosphäre angenehm. Klar hatte die Gaudi ihren Preis (115€ p.P. mit Trinkgeld), der aber aus unserer Sicht gerechtfertigt ist. Toller Abend, gerne wieder!

Ausgezeichnetes Essen und sehr liebevoll und freundlich bedient von Stefan, Jenny und Kathi in einem schön eingerichteten Lokal. Sehr faire Preise. Nach einem kleinen Spaziergang ist man schon am Viktualienmarkt. Danke liebes Waltz-Team, wir haben den Ausflug zu euch genossen!

Selten so eine authentische/unaufgesetzte Gastfreundlichkeit erlebt. War für mich neben dem sehr leckeren Essen das Highlight.

Gestern Abend das erste mal im Waltz . Das war ganz großes Kino . Das Menu , man kann es selber zusammen stellen , einfach Phantastisch. Die Kalbzunge und die Rinderbacke waren ein Gedicht . Mein Highlight war die tolle Krensuppe, sahnig , samtig und sehr lecker . Die Bedienung bekommt 110 %, ganz toll . Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder .

Liebes Team des Restaurants, ich kann kaum in Worte fassen, wie wunderbar mein Abend bei euch war. Euer Lokal hat nicht nur meinen Gaumen, sondern auch mein Herz erobert. Von Anfang bis Ende war alles einfach perfekt. Ein besonderer Dank geht an Markus und Stefan, die Inhaber und Sommeliers, die mit so viel Hingabe und einer beeindruckenden Vielfalt die Weinkarte zusammengestellt haben. Ihre Empfehlungen haben meine Geschmacksknospen auf eine kulinarische Reise mitgenommen, die ich so schnell nicht vergessen werde. Die Weinauswahl war atemberaubend, und ihre Leidenschaft für Wein war spürbar. Das hat die gesamte Erfahrung noch unvergesslicher gemacht. Das Essen im Allgemeinen war auf einem hervorragenden Niveau, aber die Salzstangerl von der Bäckerei Julius Brantner verdienen eine besondere Erwähnung. Sie sind einfach ein Gedicht und passen hervorragend zur österreichischen Küche und eurem charmanten Lokal. Die Kombination aus den knusprigen Salzstangerln und den exquisiten Weinen war ein Genuss, den ich so nur bei euch erleben konnte. Die Aufmerksamkeit des gesamten Personals, die stimmungsvolle Atmosphäre und die Liebe zum Detail haben diesen Abend zu etwas ganz Besonderem gemacht. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, wiederzukommen und noch mehr von euren kulinarischen Köstlichkeiten zu probieren. Vielen Dank für ein unvergessliches kulinarisches Erlebnis!

Volle 5/5 Ein super gemütliches Ambiente mit hochwertiger Küche, tollem Wein und professionellem Service! Und da zu einem völlig fairen Preis. Wir waren zu viert am Freitagabend und haben uns für das 4-Gang-Menü entschieden. Die Möglichkeit sich alles zusammenstellen zu können, ist fantastisch und erlaubt eine Vielzahl toller Kombinationen. Trotz der vielen Gäste mussten wir auf keine der Gänge lange warten. Zu jeder Zeit und egal bei welcher Frage, waren der Chef & seine Crew da und haben uns bestens versorgt mit Wiener Charme! Da kommen wir gern wieder!

Sehr leckeres Essen! Österreichische Küche mit modernem, feinen Touch und das in sehr entspannter und angenehmer Atmosphäre. Schöne große, aber nicht überladene Weinkarte, zu welcher man perfekt beraten wird. Service ist super nett und sehr kompetent, Preis/Leistung aus meiner Sicht top, wir kommen gerne wieder!

Ein gelungener Abend in feinstem Ambiente mit einer sehr freundlichen und zuvorkommenden Bedienung. Es grüßen die Damen aus dem Norden.

They are really pushing you to consumption here. You barely sat down and they absolutely want you to order something to drink (water? beer? water?), even before you've seen the menu. Then they're pushing the bread and butter service on you, placing everything before you even without your having ordered it: "Gedeck". An Austrian tradition, it would seem. An unpleasant one. Anyway, you really have to be firm in your refusal. They will still be trying to persuade you by adding that the bread comes from Julius Brandtner - an honestly much over-rated, in vogue Munich baker. (Can't compete in the least with e.g. Eataly's or Manufactum's bakery.) The young waitress even said it was "home-made by Julius Brandtner", which amounts to an oxymoron. The traditional Austrian fried chicken is as it should be, but the typical Austrian salad, "Vogerlsalat" (Valerianella locusta), had not just a few grains of sand in it. It can hardly have been washed and rinsed carefully. They often offer this type of salad in my canteen and even though the whole meal there only costs three euros I've never ever encountered that problem there... Had the traditional dessert. Turns out it's that Julius Brandtner bread gone stale, now upcycled (by frying it and sprinkling sugar on it), with plum jam on it. My mother used to make something like that in my childhood, so as not to have to throw away stale bread. But 11 euros for that? PS: Regarding the response by the owner: On the contrary: Everyone can tell that I was with you, especially with the amount of authentic detail. And indeed I was, a couple of months ago, but preferred to wait a bit with the review (see below). I could even upload a giro screenshot and prove it, because I always pay by card. For obvious reasons I prefer to keep my identity hidden from you, however. But the response by the owner is absolutely along the lines with the waiter Mr. Hirschler's reaction when I told him basically all of the above in the restaurant already back then.
