There were only a couple items from our dishes that were a bit too rich for our taste but that's just personal preference. Highly recommend the ice cream with pumpkin seed oil, it was a very unique and interesting combo

Waltz is a revelation in many ways—not only oenologically and culinary, but also in terms of service quality, interior design, and feel-good atmosphere. The dishes are a reinterpretation of country inn cuisine, featuring ingredients like chicken hearts and lamb sweetbreads, which are rarely found on menus these days. The wine list is extensive, some with a surprising depth of vintages. Some dishes are light, fresh, and delicate, like the pork belly, while others are deep and dark with strong sauces, like the chicken hearts and lamb. The quail was sensational, and the vanilla ice cream with pumpkin seeds and oil was to die for. We will recommend Waltz to all our friends and acquaintances and will continue to "edit" the wine and menu the next time we are in Munich.

A place with potential to become a favorite restaurant! Excellent food, a fantastic wine selection, and exceptionally friendly and professional service. Highly recommended – including the bar seats (if you can't get a table at short notice). Authentic, extremely high-quality, refined Alpine cuisine; a casual yet cozy ambiance.

My wife and I had dinner here to celebrate our two year wedding anniversary. We are so happy we chose to celebrate at Gasthaus Waltz. Excellent food, wine selection and hospitality. We will definitely stop by again if we return to Munich.

A very limited menu, which is usually a good sign, and the food was 10/10. There is a good selection of mostly German and Austrian wines, but the prices made me think twice. The service was good but too slow - please hire more staff!

Such a great little restaurant! We dined outside and enjoyed 4 courses each + bread (at a set price & you get to choose what you have). The staff spoke English and were really friendly and helpful. They chose glasses of wine for us that complimented our food choices. Food-wise, we especially enjoyed the fried chicken and the pork schnitzel. The lemon and cherry deserts were also delightful. I fully recommend eating here if you’re in Munich!

Not my first time here, always good to very good. Yesterday I had a bit of bad luck with the schnitzel. The pieces of meat were a bit large in my opinion and therefore not as tender as they could have been. The highlight of the visit, however, was definitely the table next to me (see the 5x 1* reviews). I've never experienced anyone like that lady in a restaurant before. While it was very entertaining for the rest of the restaurant, I really felt sorry for the poor service staff.

The Gasthaus Waltz aims to bring Viennese cuisine to Munich. The team, with their authentic dialect, does a great job; they're very friendly and attentive. Guests feel welcome. The restaurant is also inviting. And now comes the criticism: The ratio of meat to breading in the Wiener Schnitzel was very much in favor of the breading. I would have expected more. I've seen it differently. We really enjoyed the side dishes, appetizer, and dessert. And yes, the wine list is extensive. Sometimes less is more. The prices are reasonable by Munich standards, but not cheap.

We reserved a table for 6:00 PM on Thursday evening, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening! Charlotte, our hostess, gave us an incredibly warm welcome at the reception desk, making us feel at home immediately. Her friendliness, professionalism, and attentive manner made the evening unforgettable. The interior of the inn is lovingly designed with a keen sense of aesthetics and thoughtful details—simply a place where you feel at home. Since we were only a little hungry, we opted for a fresh salad and a truly excellent cordon bleu each. Following a recommendation, I tried a non-alcoholic drink from Villbrygg, which was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back with friends and send my warmest regards to Charlotte and the entire team. See you soon!

I had the char, my girlfriend the schnitzel, and we both enjoyed it immensely. We were particularly impressed by the attentive and friendly service. We felt very comfortable.

Bread cheese and carrot sauce Each sauce is excellent and the bread is also delicious TROUT CARROT, BUCKWHEAT & TARRAGON The salmon cooked at low temperature has a great flavor and texture, and goes very well with the pumpkin sauce and chips DEEP FRIED GNOCCHI CHARD, LETSCHO & SMOKED BELL PEPPER FOAM VENISON STEW MUSHROOMS, RED CURRANTS & PARSLEY ROOT The ceps are very chewy and the venison is juicy and delicious. LEMON TARTE BAISER, PUMPKIN SEED-PRALINE & HERB SORBET The black bean sorbet and lemon are very refreshing. The sesame is also effective at the bottom.

Unfortunately, this restaurant has more of a Munich chic feel to it than a Viennese restaurant. According to the menu, the food served here "represents the simplicity and down-to-earthness of Austrian cuisine." In Viennese, all I can say is, "You can blame someone else for that silliness." Anyone who rolls up a Gordon Bleu and then serves it in a centimeter-thick breading is wasting good veal, doing no one a favor, and simply underscoring their own helplessness. By the way, there's a difference between speckled and floury potatoes. You can make potato salad (a.k.a. Erdäpfelsalat) out of the former. You can't make the latter. Krautfleckerln (sauerkraut noodles) are a classic of Viennese cuisine. If you know what you're doing, you can conjure up a delicacy. If you're overwhelmed, you'll waste no time messing around with morels and velouté. The service, which on a hot day initially pours a silly tasting sip of grape juice, but then tries to clear the glass before you've finished, seems more tiring than attentive. If effort and fuss are more important to you than quality and authenticity, you can sit down here. The place is certainly cozy.

Overrated. Average food, poorly poured wines, servers who were sometimes good, sometimes rude. Only the dessert was really good. Overall, disappointing.

The service was arrogant, vain, inattentive, and student-like/unprofessional. I was there with my parents (both over 70) for a birthday party. We waited over 50 minutes for appetizers. Then another almost an hour for the main courses. There was no apology, no explanation, only a brief "Sorry, we're understaffed today" when asked. The food itself is certainly not bad, but it often turns Austrian classics, which have become classics precisely because of their ingenious simplicity, into complicated and sometimes completely over-the-top, pretentious creations. Less is more, especially with Austrian cuisine. It's about being really good at the dishes you offer, not making them into a pretentious "chi chi." If you like this kind of inauthentic "show-off cuisine" and also appreciate pretentious service, this is a great place to go.

It started with a friendly welcome, and it continued like this. Indeed, without a friendly and open service the evening wouldn't have been as nice as it was. The food was extremely yummy. Both the kohlrabi and the salad were very good starters. As a main course, we had cabbage pasta, venison strips and the Cordon Bleu. All food was delicious. This restaurant is definitely worth recommending.

What can I say? An all-around perfect evening. The Waltz impresses with its warm, relaxed welcome, and this vibe continues throughout the evening, culminating in a fine shot with the owners right next to the castle. A truly lovely restaurant, cozy, modern, but not pretentious. A fine menu and good food, paired with a very good wine list. For me, it's an absolute asset in Munich.

This Michelin-listed restaurant offers a three-course lunch menu for €42. I selected a rather bland starter consisting of marinated strips of meat with beans and sunflower seeds for extra flavor. For the main course, a decent, albeit salty, wiener snitzel accompanied by cranberry sauce and salad. Dessert was an apple tart with orange ice cream, also decent. The service was very friendly, although it took a little longer than expected to get the meal ready. The bread on the cutlery was excellent.

We had a reservation for 18:30 but did not expect to end up staying at the restaurant for another 4 hours waiting for all of our food to arrive. The waiter explained that we could choose the 5-course meal and pick and choose 5 different dishes from anywhere on the menu. It then took each dish anywhere from 30-60 minutes to arrive at our table. By the third dish we were strongly regretting not just picking the 4 dish course, if only so we could leave earlier. We would have appreciated the waiter explaining that their kitchen was backed up - at least then we could have planned accordingly and not picked the option that had us stuck in the restaurant for 4 hours.

One of my favorite meals in Munich! 😋 We particularly liked the kohlrabi, char, and pork leg. Ambiance was elegant and relaxed, without being stuffy. Great for a date 🩷

A very beautiful and cozy restaurant that greatly enriches Munich's culinary scene. The inn specializes in Alpine cuisine, presenting it in an exciting and modern way. We received a very warm welcome and were seated directly thanks to our reservation. The service is very authentic and friendly. I would especially like to highlight the sommelier, who was able to round out the menu with exciting wine recommendations. I also highly recommend choosing the inn's menu and then freely creating your own menu from the menu. An evening I will remember for a long time.

The multi-course menu is extremely delicious. By sharing I was able to try 10 dishes 😁. A lot of things were extremely good, but I personally would have liked a little less salt and fat in the few courses. It was of course delicious, they are THE flavor carriers, but this lost the sophistication on the one hand and the clarity on the other. I think in fine dining the dishes can sometimes be controversial. In any case, the restaurant is highly recommended and the quality corresponds to the price.

Excellent Austrian restaurant in Munich. Family run, or with a strong family background, traditional cuisine. The menu is manageable and the food is of admirable quality. The service is very courteous and helpful. Be sure to check it out, but please make a reservation during peak times.

Wow wow wow Perfect service, a fantastic wine list including rare bottles and natural wine icons, and modern Austrian cuisine. Had high expectations, but they were stomped into the ground. The trout tartare was the highlight of the meal, but the asparagus dishes and the lamb were also great. The wine list is just fun, big names, some by the glass. The service was super nice and attentive, it couldn't be better in a restaurant of this caliber. Come again.

The Gasthaus Waltz is a culinary highlight. Classic Austrian food is taken to a new level there. The food is only topped by the most professional service I have experienced so far. The wine list is huge and can quickly become overwhelming without support from the waiters. After a recommendation, we found what we were looking for.

Based on the research that preceded the visit, I expected more. The food was okay, but nothing special, more like normal home cooking. Tafelspitz and schnitzel were average, you can get that everywhere, I would say. The dining room is rather narrow and loud. The service was very friendly and prompt.

A very successful evening with 5 excellent courses and highly competent advice from the sommelier. We appreciate the casual atmosphere at Waltz and at the same time the attention to detail regarding the food and wine. Tiny criticism: we found it a bit of a shame that there was no greeting from the kitchen - in my opinion that's de rigueur for a restaurant of this category.

The table only became available at exactly the time of the reservation, so I was offered an aperitif while standing in the overcrowded room because I was 15 minutes early. I find that extremely inappropriate for the higher level. The ladies serve in a particularly strong Austrian dialect, which is not necessary and can be avoided.

Everything is just right in Waltz. Great soul food, finely made and tasty - the best schnitzel in Munich! Very good wine selection, great service and a very nice, cozy, modern atmosphere. You can notice the Austrian gastronomic influences, which have finally put a well-kept inn with great value for money and a love of craftsmanship on the Munich gastronomic map. This is otherwise rather sparse in Munich...Keep it up :)

We had a very nice evening with 5 great courses. Delicious, creative cuisine and very personable, friendly service! It is very relaxed that you can simply choose 4 or 5 dishes from the menu, depending on how many courses you want, regardless of whether they are on the menu as a starter/intercourse/main course etc. Rather upscale cuisine and the prices accordingly, but it is still a very relaxed, cozy restaurant! For us it was perfect for a special occasion.

Pretty disappointing. 4 promising courses consisting of. 1. Vogerlsalat with veal tongue, salmon trout 2. Puntarelle, Langos 3. Short Ribs 4. Sacherschnitten The starter was not at all convincing and came very cold and without any seasoning. The buttermilk dressing did nothing for the fish and could have been saved. The puntarelle in the middle course was quite tasty in combination with the polenta. The Langos, on the other hand, was a bit monotonous. Peppers + dough. The short ribs as the main course were an absolute disappointment. Unfortunately it wasn't heated long enough due to the cooking time. Collagen still exists and is therefore tough as a shoe sole. We complained. The waiter just said he would pass it on to the kitchen. Dessert followed. Sacherschnitte that, as an ambitious hobby chef, I can do three times better with little effort and I almost find it audacious. The plum sorbet was very good. The service was very friendly. We were given a dessert and a few more drinks and that is also the reason why we still give it two stars. If I can cook better myself than what I get served in a restaurant, I don't need to go out to eat. Absolutely a disappointment.

Inspired by numerous positive reviews, we really wanted to try the Austrian cuisine at Gasthaus Waltz in Munich. Unfortunately, in the end you are left with an impression of light and shadow, which leads you to stop visiting the restaurant. The friendly staff will be remembered positively, and the curd dumplings as a dessert were also extremely successful. Unfortunately, the two main courses, baked carp and cordon bleu, were not a highlight, but rather a solid standard at best. You can get all of this elsewhere at cheaper prices. A final negative impression is made by the glass of Riesling sparkling wine for 15 euros, which the staff sells as an aperitif, although charming, but of course without mentioning the hefty price. All in all, unfortunately no repeat for us. A Rubens in Düsseldorf is miles ahead when it comes to Austrian cuisine.

Interesting take on Austrian food, really loved the trout and the bread but found some of the dishes a little underwhelming. (My knowledge of Austrian cuisine falls short in general, which may have impacted my opinion.)The stroganoff had incredibly tender lamb, but the way it came together, including the Spätzle which had unevenly spread salty breadcrumbs wasn't my favorite. The Rosa Rindertafelspitz tasted like a really good sandwich and the Cordon Bleu was good but didn't stand out. If there's one thing that stood out for me and would keep me returning is the staff. I felt welcomed from the moment we stepped in and every staff remained attentive and shared helpful suggestions. We had a great night regardless and would be interested in trying out other dishes in the future.

The two of us were at the Gasthaus Waltz on Friday evening. Really everything about our evening was perfect. The welcome, including taking off my jacket, etc., was on the one hand very pleasantly courteous and, on the other hand, not stuffy and forced, but extremely warm. We felt extremely comfortable from the first second. This feeling was then further reinforced when our waitress guided us through the menu very nicely. We chose the 5-course menu and were delighted with every course without exception. Really everything about our evening was perfect. A special thank you goes to our waitress Kathi, who made our evening truly unforgettable. Thank you very much and we would love to come back!

1a Wiener Schnitzel. Probably one of the best schnitzels in Munich. It only gets better in Salzburg or Vienna. First of all I had the smoked trout soup. Very intense smoky taste, went very well for me. We'll be back The 3-course lunch menu is highly recommended. All dishes on the menu can be combined. So theoretically 3x schnitzel ;) The place setting with Julius Brandner bread is automatically included in the menu

Our evening at Gasthaus Waltz was once again a complete success - all of our friends were thrilled with the delicious, seasonally inspired and pre-Christmas dishes. The Waltz team impresses with authentic Austrian charm, warm hospitality and attentive politeness - from reception to farewell. In particular, the loving gesture of taking off jackets and coats and handing them back as you leave does not seem artificial at all, but simply stylish and timeless. Every course - from the starters to the dessert - was not only a pleasure for the taste buds, but also for the eyes. The wine selection and the perfectly coordinated food recommendations also hit the mark. The price-performance ratio is also convincing and is more than justified given the quality offered. We agreed: This wasn't our last visit to the Gasthaus Waltz. We'll definitely be back!

We celebrated a birthday there and were pampered so much from start to finish. The service is quick, courteous, forward-looking and very patient and unusually friendly for Munich standards. The individual dishes on the menu are also exciting. Whether cauliflower or beetroot, the kitchen takes well-known ingredients and refines them with surprising culinary twists. Without losing your grip on the ground. Great taste. And I've never eaten better pork cheeks; at Letscho the kitchen took the pains to peel the peppers. The dessert was simply heavenly. Great wines, the non-alcoholic aperitif made from quince and verbena is recommended. Best Viennese/Austrian level on the Isar.
