After a long absence from Bad Hindelang, we were finally here again and of course visited the Obere Mühle organic cheese dairy. I've been here before with my parents, eating delicious cheese and drinking fresh buttermilk. Nothing has changed. The staff is very friendly and happy to give good advice and the cheese and buttermilk are still delicious! We particularly liked the fenugreek cheese, the red wine cheese and the mountain cheese aged for 12 months!

We regularly take products from here home with us. Regional offer and great taste. Nice service. If you want to take something with you, it's better to order in advance. The employees on site will then pack this up appropriately.

Im Herbst 2022 waren wir zwei Mal hier und für mich war klar, dass ich nochmal hier her kommen muss. Das Essen war wieder köstlich und der Service sehr gut. Wir hatten die Alpen Trilogie, ein tolles Gericht, wenn man sowohl Käsespätzle, Knödel als auch Maultaschen liebt und ein Rumpsteak mit Ofenkartoffel. Leider, leider mussten wir dann auf den leckeren Kaiserschmarren verzichten. Wir waren einfach zu satt! Die Portionen sind nämlich wirklich großzügig. So ganz verzichten konnten wir dann doch nicht und hatten ganz nach dem Motto: „Eis geht immer“ doch noch ein Dessert bestellt. Das Karamellpannacotta hat so himmlisch geschmeckt und wirklich alles an Pannacotta übertroffen was ich mir hätte vorstellen können. Was soll ich sagen? Satt und glücklich sind wir gegangen und sagen: „Auf Wiedersehen!“

The organic cheese dairy in Hindelang offers a lot of selection at fair prices. I took mountain cheese, blue cheese and red wine cheese with me. Everything is super tasty. The mountain cheese is available in 3 ripeness levels: young, 12 months and 24 months. You can also choose from a variety of fruit brandies and various organic products (spices, honey, etc.). Conclusion: Highly recommended!

I bought 4 different types of cheese there yesterday and was totally disappointed when I tried them at home! The mountain cheese has been matured for 9 months Should have been, was totally tasteless, like a supermarket cheese.. The red wine cheese was also tasteless, you can get the same thing in the supermarket.!! Some time ago I went shopping at the alpine dairy in Gunzesried and was really excited about the cheese there. The cheese, which had matured for 9 months, was also absolutely delicious, as were the other varieties. But here in the organic cheese dairy I have to say, totally disappointing...🤷‍♀️

Das Essen war hervorragend - einfach 1A und die Bedienung sehr zuvorkommend und speditiv. Wir haben auch Käse in der Käserei unterhalb gekauft - sehr gut.

Wir haben gut mit liebsten Freunden einen feierlichen Abend verbracht. Das Essen war hervorragend, der Wein ausgezeichnet, die Bedienung sehr bemüht, und so kann die forsche Überheblichkeit der Chefin als Randerscheinung übersehen werden. Übrigens, wer ohne Auto kommt ist im Talschluss verloren, denn Taxis gibt’s ab 21:00 keine….

In unserem jährlichen Winterurlaub ist der Besuch der Käserei ein Muss. Es gibt viele leckere Sorten hausgemachten Käse. Dazu noch ein paar andere schmackhafte Sachen, z. B. selbstgemachter Likör. Die angrenzende Scheune mit vielen Trödelsachen beherbergt ein kleines bäuerliche Museum mit freiem Eintritt. Alles in Allem sehr zu empfehlen.

Alleine für den Käse würde ich glatte fünf Sterne geben, da er wirklich sehr köstlich ist . Die Butter ist auch gut. Ich hatte dann noch einen Obatzten gekauft und leider hat man den harten Kunststoffbecher nicht abgezogen. Ich habe das daheim nachgewogen. Und das geht ja wohl gar nicht!

Ich hatte das Glück selber im Urlaub im Laden zu sein. Sehr gutes Fachpersonal, die alle Fragen beantworten können. Ein Teil der Kessel können gesehen werden. Aber was noch viel wichtiger ist. Ich habe selten so einen vorzüglichen Käse gegessen zu haben. Ganz klar 5 Sterne. P. S. : DER Online Versand klappt wunderbar, ist schnell zu Hause.

Wir waren in unserer Urlaubswoche zweimal hier zum Essen und es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Die Portionen sind großzügig und geschmacklich überzeugend. Man sollte hier wirklich reservieren, damit man auch einen Tisch bekommt. Im nächsten Urlaub kommen wir sicher wieder.

Für den hervorragenden Käse alleine würde ich 5 Sterne vergeben. Negativ fiel auf, dass in fast allen angebotenen Wurstwaren Geschmacksverstärker enthalten war. Unfreundliches, wortkarges Personal.

Hilfsbereite Verkäufer. Wir haben nach einem Mitbringsel gesucht und auch gefunden, ist jedoch nicht ganz so günstig.

Beste Käserei der Welt. Nicht billig aber dafür total lecker. Alles BIO. Preis Leistung erstklassig. Jedes Jahr bin ich wieder dort. Und für Zuhause wird es sogar eingeschweißt.

Die obere Mühle vereint in Perfektion eine gehobene Küche mit ausreichend großen Portionen und ein sehr schönes und gemütliches Ambiente mit einem sehr persönlichen/aufmerksamen Service!

Ausgezeichnetes Essen und perfekter Service. Es gibt nichts auszusetzen. Insofern ein super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

Hatten das Menü mit Weinbegleitung und dort 180.- Euro gelassen. Zur Mitte des Menüs wurden wir von der Chefin geschnitten. Unser Tisch war aber Ihrer. So das wir auf den letzten Gang 1Stunde warten mussten und die Weinbegleitung nochmals 25 Minuten später kam. Es ist sehr schade ein gutes Essen und den Abend so beschädigt zu bekommen. Alle Anderen Servicekräfte haben versucht die Offensichtliche Antipathie zu korrigieren. Nie wieder!

Die Chefin hier ist schon sehr schnell eingeschnappt und kippt gerne das sprichwörtliche Kind mit dem Bade aus. Warum? Meine Familie und ein Mitarbeiter von mir waren hier letztens Gast. Dieser Mitarbeiter von mir hatte eine Bewertung über jenes Restaurant auf Google geschrieben und auch meine Reklamation im Restaurant über die Tintenfischstücke in der Fischsuppe erwähnte welche jeweils einen nicht essbaren Festkörper enthielten. Das finde ich, hätte die Küche entfernen können und es auch vor Ort gesagt. Die Bedienung nahm meine Monierung nicht sonderlich ernst, sondern sagte nur, der Gast müsse das selbst machen, was aber in dieser tomatig-fettigen Suppe ein ganz schöne Sauerei, auch auf der Kleidung geben würde. Dies war für mich sehr unbefriedigend. Auch war mein Mitarbeiter mit dem Gargrad seines Fleisches zunächst nicht zufrieden, was aber schnell erledigt wurde. Jedoch mundete ihm auch danach das Gericht nur bedingt, was er dann in seiner Bewertung auch kund tat. Aufgrund dessen schrieb mich die Inhaberin dieses Gasthauses recht angesäuert an, machte mir Vorhaltungen und strich gleich ihrerseits meine dortige Sylvesterreservierung. Ich finde solch ein Verhalten sehr unreif und völlig überzogen. Aber nun gut, es gibt noch andere hervorragende Restaurants hier. Ich empfehle persönlich: - Hotelrestaurant zur Krone in Immenstadt/Stein - Hotelrestaurant Waldhorn in Kempten - Hotelrestaurant Bayerischer Hof in Kempten Hier freut man sich noch auf einen Besuch der Gäste.

Der Quotient Qualität zu Preis geht gegen 0: Der Saibling schwamm im Öl, die Käseknödel auf etwas Spinat geklatscht u ebenso schmackhaft wie ähnliches Produkt aus einer Packung. Der Service war hektisch, die Lautstärke in dem kleinen, niedrigen Raum mehr als nervig. Die Krönung des ganzen war meine durch das ölige Fettessen hervorgerufene Übelkeit.

Bedienungen eher bemüht oberflächlich freundlich. Essen ist von guter mittlerer Qualität, aber von hohem Preis, Alle Tintenfischstücke in der Fischsuppe hatten jeweils etwas Festes, nicht essbares in sich. Das hätte die Küche entfernen können. Wenn ich das als Gast erst selber machen muss, dann ist das nicht meine Aufgabe.

We stopped here with a group and bought cheese and smoked ham from the shop along with a few bottles of wine. The cheese selection was excellent. There was also a small museum and antique shop on the premises. Also a playground for the kids! We really enjoyed our stay and wished we could of stayed for dinner but the restaurant was totally booked.

Obere Mühle is clearly by far the best Restaurant in that region/valley. Fresh fish, excellent meat also from local sources and a good mixture of locally inspired and international dishes - everything at an exceptional level of quality and passion.

From the starters to the main dishes, from the drinks to the desserts; everything in our meal was pure perfection. The service was attentive, efficient and of a very high standard. In this restaurant, from the waitresses to the cooks, everybody knows pretty well what they are doing and clearly have deep roots in this magic part of the world. The ambience, including the building as a whole and the garden outside, couldn't be more beautiful and well kept. A truly unforgettable experience in a region that is a serious candidate to my favourite place on Earth!

I came here with a colleague for dinner based on the recommendation of local vendor. Location is a former mill which dates back to the 1400s. Old building in traditional style. We made a reservation and were friendly greeted. After sitting down I asked about payment options and learnt that they did not accept credit cards. But I was offered to leave my name and get an invoice which I could pay by bank transfer. However, at the end I didn’t feel comfortable leaving them w/o anything we offered to pay them in US $ and they accepted. It was worth it, great location and fantastic food. We each had a soup, my colleague venison three ways, I had the venison filet with red cabbage, dumpling and Spätzle. Food was very tasty, nicely presented and they had good beer and wine, too. No room for dessert but and Obstler rounded off a fantastic meal at a great place. I will definitely go back when I’m in the area.

I tried a lovely cheese soup bavarian style, a filet mignon medium rare and a perfect dessert. And it was great. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quite old, wooden style. Based on this it was a bit noisy. But in total recommendable.

The restaurant Obere Mühle is a comfy place with wonderful food. You can sit in the traditional main room and enjoy cheese soup or beef stew with home-made "Spätzle. I'd recommend this to anyone visiting the area. All the waitresses were really nice and welcoming.

Probably one of the best restaurants in Oberallgäu at reasonable prices for great value. It's eating delicious Bavarian food in a museum. Also great for children to roam the large garden. The menu offers a good variety of typical local food. The meat is grilled on open fire, sauces are freshly made etc and the portions are well sized. The staff are super friendly and going out of there way to make the guest experience the best.

This restaurant is an absolute must if you are after a special meal, but make sure you make a reservation. The restaurant was very busy for a Sunday evening, which was a good sign. The menu is very extensive, with a daily special menu of five courses, which three of our group chose. The courses were just the right size, and decent gaps in between. The food was expertly presented, and the ingredients were of high quality. Everything was just perfect, and none of us could criticise anything. This was quite simply the very best meal I have experienced in Germany, indeed the best meal I have had in a very long time. The environment is delightful, very warm and cosy with lots of atmosphere. I can't wait to return here as often as I can. For the standard of food, the prices are reasonable.

We were lucky to get a reservation the same day on short notice and had a chance to sit next to the kitchen. In this buidling from 1433 we were able to watch how the food was prepared and enjoyed a variety from lamb, cows and deer. To sum it up, it was a reasonable price for real good food! PS: Dont forget to shop their homemade milk products - the cheese is awesome

Staying in Bad Hindelang, we have enjoyed exploring the local restaurants and decided to try Obere Muhle. What a pleasure to walk to the restaurant, through fields and by a small steam. Not sure of what we would find, the restaurant is housed in a truly enchanting old farmhouse bedecked with geraniums and surrounded by a beautiful garden. There is also a museum, cheese shop and dairy along with antique shop. The beautiful architecture and ambiance was only matched by the perfect dinner, the food was tradional and beautifully prepared and presented. The service was impeccable from tradionally dressed wait staff. Our party of four savoured every mouthful and enjoyed a perfect evening before a well needed walk back home.

Our all time favorite !! This is excellent local cuisine !! ALWAYS very good. Never have we had a "weak" night there. The best the region has to offer !! If you're visiting you must eat there !!!

The Obere Muhle is an extremely interesting old farmhouse with an attached museum, antiques shop and cheese/dairy outlet but did not live up to its reputation the night we visited. The restaurant is an interesting old building which retains a great deal of cultural charm but we were disappointed with the service and the food. Service: Lacked the attentiveness that you would expect of a restaurant which charges high prices, resulting in us sitting with empty drinks for a considerable period. Food: Just not up to the standard expected post reading some of the reviews here. The starter of Cheese Soup was really good and well worth having but both mains were below par being extremely salty and lacking in any vegetables. Given the cost of a main then you do not receive value for money when compared to the local area and what other outlets provide. Will we visit again: unfortunately no as the whole experience was not as expected.

We've been returning to this family run restaurant for over 20 years and it's always a highlight of our visiting the Allgau! The resto is in an 415yo farmhouse next to the river with a still functioning mill wheel and if you like antiques, you must visit their antiqueladen. They also produce and sell wonderful cheeses here. I know, it sounds like a lot, but it's really still quaint and a real gem set in the Hindelang. The food is amazing, the service is wonderful and the ambiance is unbeatable!

Thank you TripAdvisor friends for an excellent recommendation. This restaurant is worthy not only of the top spot in Bad Hindelang, but also of a leading position in Bavaria overall. To give you the brief version, we ate there in the two evenings we ate in Bad Hindelang, but we would have hapily eaten there until we exhausted the menu and then went back to repeat. The food is absolutely fabulous. These are hearty Bavarian or Italian dishes, but by no means unsophisticated or crude. The chef is a master of his craft and it has been our true pleasure enjoying his work. Everything we tried was excellent or better. The location and atmosphere are also great. We ate there in the summer so we enjoyed the summer garden which is basically tables in an orchard on grass with a view to the Alps. It is relaxed and beautiful and you don't want to leave. Children are welcome as attested by the many toys the restaurant had placed in the orchard. Dogs were also welcome, which is great for a place in the mountains. The interior was also beautiful and surely this old mill is a great place in winter as well. It seems and feels like a family run business and the staffis really nice. The service is not the fastest, although the staff is moving really fast. We actually enjoyed that because of the beautiful setting. If you don't speak German they will try to explain the menu to you and make recommendations. It worked great for us. A lot of the guests seemed to be German and regulars so this was a find for us, but is probably well known in the area. We did not need reservations as we went there early for dinner, but the place was very popular so perhaps try to book a table, especially on weekends.

We had a lovely evening here. The casual wooden tables were set with crisp white linens and placed in the lawn amidst fruit trees, with the atmosphere of an upscale picnic. Our food was outstanding, and the staff could not have been more friendly and...

We visited this hidden gem on our last night and very nearly missed it, it's not the easiest restaurant to find but well worth the effort to find, we didnt book and thought we would be turned away as every table was taken at 7.30...

We have often enjoyed a suberb evening here with excellent food and service. The house has character and they have recently built a small exquisite hotel next door. In summer you can eat in the garden and in winter the cosy atmosphere of the restaurant...
