Very nice restaurant, nice staff, “peeing trough” worth seeing

Great evening and really great and cheerful service.

Its location is the best in a very beautiful place. We only ordered some wines from the area, very good although expensive. It is clear that you pay for the location of the place, you can drink these wines in any other place in the city at a much better price, but as I mentioned, you are paying for the place where you drink it, as I said. It is not the worst because the price is accepted but I think that the location of the establishment has to be accompanied by good service for that you assume the price and the service gives a lot to be desired arrogance and arrogance I really hope that this review serves to improve this aspect because the place deserves and so does his clients.

A culinary paradise! The food in this restaurant was simply incredibly delicious – a real treat for the palate. Every bite was a treat that is hard to beat. There is absolutely nothing to complain about, I can only warmly recommend this restaurant. It really was like heaven on earth. The ambience was very pleasant and tastefully designed, which made the stay even more pleasant. The employees were extremely friendly and accommodating, which rounded off the service perfectly. An all-round perfect experience – I’ll definitely be back!

I would have liked to have bought a bottle of wine on site so I could open it later in the camper...unfortunately that wasn't possible 😒

Price/performance not justified. With a higher standard, the fried potatoes should also be prepared in a pan and not briefly held in the deep fryer. Add too much salt. The appetizer labeled as pumpernickel also did not correspond to the description, because there was no slice of bread on the plate but rock-hard bread crumbs. Our complaint was not taken seriously.

We had a very good meal there a few years ago. Now we were back in Würzburg and were really looking forward to a lovely evening. The service was good, but it's not possible to get your high-quality, high-priced dishes faster than in a fast-food restaurant.

Great food, great atmosphere, a bit expensive but quality

The Alte Mainmühle in Würzburg is a real highlight! We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and our dog was immediately provided with a water bowl - very dog-friendly! The wine selection is impressive and offers something to suit every taste. Plus the beautiful ambience with a view of the Main – simply fantastic! The food was consistently excellent. From the starter to the main course to the dessert, everything was high quality, fresh and incredibly tasty. An absolute delight! This restaurant is a real insider tip and definitely worth a visit. We would love to come back!

The food was super tasty, but the vegetarians only had two main courses, only one of which was vegan. The portions were very small compared to those with meat. Even a bad eater won't be able to get enough without a starter. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Due to structural reasons, depending on the table, you sit very closely and the neighboring table is also extremely close. Unfortunately, we had the misfortune of sitting next to a very loud group of tourists with little or no well-behaved children. Prices can be higher here.

This is a wine bar and restaurant at the east (Old Town) end of Alte Mainbrucke. In addition to taking meal here there is a take-away order window where you can buy glasses of wine as well as holiday glühwein during the Christmas season to enjoy outside while spending time at the old bridge. Opening hours are 11am to 11pm daily. We stopped here a couple times during our recent visit to Würzburg and enjoyed glühwein (€5 + €5 deposit for the glass). Servings came in an Alte Mainmuhle signature glass which is nice and importantly it tasted very good, nice to have while taking in the views along the river and just enjoying the festive and friendly atmosphere of this location in the Old Town.

Nice restaurant on the old Main bridge. Due to the first-class location, the prices are generally higher, with portions sometimes being smaller. Food: I found my food to be mediocre despite its great appearance (porcini mushroom dumplings on leek vegetables), whereas my friend was very satisfied with his meal (rump steak medium). Therefore overall 4 out of 5 stars for the food. The service was friendly.

Only the atmosphere in the restaurant is nice. But given the price-performance ratio, it doesn't even begin to convince me. Schnitzel for 32 euros which was absolutely unacceptable in terms of quality. You don't get anything more with the schnitzel except a minimalist potato salad, which is also completely disappointing. NEVER AGAIN. Tourist trap, nothing more.

We waited almost an hour for our food (probably because there was like three waiters for a completely full, two story restaurant), which ended up being super underwhelming. The Schnitzel was literally just one Schnitzel with a tiny bowl of potato salad, leaves you still feeling hungry. The best part is the interior, looks very nice. Overall seems like a tourist trap, there's loads of cheaper and better restaurants with a similar franconian feel.

For German cuisine, the seasoning is moderate, not too salty, and it is very suitable for Taiwanese tastes. The stewed pork shoulder is very soft, and the bones and meat can be separated with a fork, but the pork skin is too hard for my 30-year-old teeth to chew. Although it looks crunchy and delicious, it is not recommended to eat it. The potatoes on the side have the chewy texture of German QQ...not unpleasant but not delicious either. The signature cider is delicious! recommend!

Food was okay, but service was a disaster. We waited forever until we had a table (even though there was nothing going on). Meanwhile, the staff ran around haphazardly. Once we got a table, we waited forever until we could order. The meal took 45 minutes. When serving, the waitress poured half the soup on my friend. Tourist trap!

We were there for our wedding anniversary and were very ceremoniously welcomed at a specially white-covered table with champagne. The staff looked after us lovingly and we really enjoyed the extra amuse gueule. The food was once again first class😋

Had 4x Schäuferle... bratwurst and fish. Sauerkraut ice cold... but then warmed up again. However, the Schäuferle were the worst we've ever had...hardly any crust, but a thick, soft layer of fat. Meat was tough and barely fell off the bone. It's a shame...especially at a price of 26 euros.

The place is very very good. We just had a local beer and ate a German sausage. But the service, location and food were great.

We were here for dinner and were very satisfied. The service was courteous and friendly, and Schäufele, Franconian wedding food and beer were very tasty. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the creme brulee.

The Alte Mainmühle directly on (almost on) the old Main bridge is a restaurant with upscale, home-style cuisine. I was here alone without a reservation and easily got a spot at 7 p.m. on a Tuesday in November. However, while I was there, several groups came, some of them large, so that the restaurant filled up well. The food is absolutely excellent. The small mill salad as a starter was fresh with a very good dressing, cress and seeds. Only the sliced ​​baguette was a bit hard because it was (at least) from the day before.🤷🏼‍♂️ However, the braised Schäufele with savoy cabbage, potato dumplings and dark beer caraway sauce was a Franconian dream. The only thing I could complain about here is that I've gotten bigger shovels.🤷🏼‍♂️ But these two little things are whining on an extremely high level and are nowhere near enough to reduce the maximum rating of five stars.☝🏼 The service is extremely friendly, attentive and accommodating. I felt completely at home and will definitely visit this restaurant again if I am in Würzburg again.

This restaurant is in an old building on the Alte Mainbrücke bridge - the old medieval bridge that crosses the Main river and leads to the center of the city. For atmosphere, you can't beat it, and the food was great! The bridge is now just for pedestrians so the area can get pretty busy.

Simply top, nice service, nice ambience. We ate sausages with sauerkraut and fried potatoes. Super tasty, world class sauerkraut!!!

We chose this restaurant on the occasion of our son's birthday. No recognition of the event at all, something we don't know from other establishments. Above all, the service was unfortunately very poor and made the evening a less than pleasant one. The food portions were clear. The price-performance ratio has decreased significantly (we have been here several times). Now we will unfortunately be leaving this place off our list of restaurants to visit.

The prices are astronomical. For 3 small dumplings with alleged porcini mushrooms, a bit of salad and a smeared plate with sauce 23 euros, yes, just under 24, I took 5 small deserts with a few fried potatoes, which were also dry, a bit of sauerkraut 20 euros. Great location, good food - however, the seating on the balcony is too narrow so that you can no longer sit comfortably and it is rather very cramped and uncomfortable. The heaters above our heads aren't ideal either. It gets very hot on your head directly underneath

We were here spontaneously on the weekend. Kitchen had just closed. We were told there was nothing left. 1 minute late. We were very disappointed. The service staff wasn't exactly the friendliest either. There won't be a repeat, it's a shame...

Excellent food! The poached quail eggs were star-worthy. Difficult to cut and eat from the deep bowl. It is better to use a medium-deep vessel (soup plate). The table service was very nice and quick, even in the peripheral areas - 5 stars. What we didn't like was that guests piled up at the narrow entrance and waited in vain to be welcomed, and they were deliberately ignored for a longer period of time. Some areas were extremely noisy due to group tables, but fortunately we were able to move to a quieter area upon request. Conclusion: Great food, rest ok.

We didn't eat in the restaurant, so I can't rate the food, but we took wine and walked along the bridge. Good idea with the deposit for the glasses, you can return it to the restaurant and get the 5€ deposit, or keep it for yourself) I liked the wine, the bartender was friendly.

We treated ourselves to a glass of wine on the Main Bridge and enjoyed the sun. The serving went quickly. The prices per glass are between 6 and 7 euros, 5 euros are a deposit. The wine was delicious, the glass was filled very full. You can do it!

First the good: The ambience is really nice - depending on where you sit, but unfortunately that's where it starts. It's extremely narrow and unless you're really lucky to get one of the nice niche seats, the ambience isn't of much use. Apart from that, it is very noisy because everything is designed to take up maximum space. When we arrived, the service employee approached us when we asked for another seat. The food came to the table after 5 minutes - so it couldn't have been freshly prepared and that's how it tasted. It was cold and the fried potatoes were floury, cold and kind of hard without being crispy. They were also dripping with fat and barely seasoned. We don't even need to start with the other dishes. We left hungry and paid a fortune for bad food and mass processing. Unfortunately, mmn. simply a bad tourist shed in a prime location.

This place is right on the bridge. Served people three ways. You can dine indoors +we did), service is great food is very tasty (we each had schnitzel), and the atmosphere is pleasant. You can come part way in, place a lighter order to go (sandwiches, brautwurst) while standing up waiting, drinking a beer. Or you can walk into a small window just for beer or whine , stand around drinking & socializing whilst looking off the bridge or at the beautiful city.

Unfortunately the change in service staff was not satisfactory. New colleague very rude. Too bad.....

We were here for the second time now. It was perfect except for the draft at the bottom. One of the male service staff seems to live in a tram. In any case, he didn't have it that way with the door. Otherwise as expected, good food, good beer and the service at the table was very good.

Wanted to have a nice, cozy birthday meal there. Unfortunately it was rather mediocre in all respects. The flavor of the braised venison was very, let's call it, simple. The portion size is not filling for a “normal eater”. Service was poor. We also sat at the door, which was constantly open and so it was cool throughout. I didn't even want to put a dog in that place. All in all very disappointing in this price segment. The company's own claim is fine cuisine and a fine category in general. Unfortunately, it doesn't do it justice. Too bad. Was the last visit in the near future. I was so looking forward to a great meal on my birthday. Too bad.

We have known the Alte Mainmühle for many years. It's a shame how this has deteriorated. Food got 1 star because the ribbon noodles were ok. The ambience in the old Main mill is and remains - very nice. 1 star deduction - Please don't go to the toilet. You can pour yourself wine, but jokes will be made about drinking it. Salad sandy, bread old. Roast venison becomes more dry in the mouth when chewed instead of less - dry. Fried potato - pre-fried - a single mash. Tagliatelle - it worked. Wiener Schnitzel - no, that was a thick breaded piece of meat. Wine - all the wines of 2022 vintages that we selected simply do not exist. The 2023 wine comes without comment. No thanks - we declined. We eat the main course between glasses and plates of the starter - very cozy. At the entrance you can stand in the cold and wait until someone tries to show you the reserved table. Here I like to go to the exit and never come back

08/13/2024 Delicious food in a perfect location. We thought the sauerkraut at the Ratskeller tasted more refined. Cake was delicious, beer was nice and cold and plentiful. Nicely located business on the Main, right by the Mainbrücke that provides access to the city center of Würzburg. Service not good: no consideration for placement - we did not want to sit in the sun and there were plenty of tables available, but sitting in the shade was not allowed (the two of us were not allowed to sit at a four-person table, while there were five four-person tables available outside were in the shade). Initially we started with cake and drinks, then also had dinner. But it was very clear that we had to leave ASAP, even though we were allowed to stay until 6:30 PM (and it was only around half past six when we got the dessert menu in some haste). We didn't get the dessert menu either: it was thrown on the table. The message was clear.

The most delicious beer I ever drank in Germany.

The wine was fine. Unfortunately, that's all there is to it. The food is bad and way too salty (if what you ordered is not already finished). For the hefty price you can really expect something better. Really a waste of the wine and your money

Why make a big deal about it? Everything fits here. The ambience is unbeatable, the service is honestly very attentive (thanks to Monaieur Melgar) and the food and wine are completely convincing. We'd love to come back. There is a very clear Five Star Dwaynson rating here.

Authentic Franconian dishes with good beer and view.

Good restaurant in a historic building right on the old Main bridge. It is possible to buy drinks from street vendors and drink them comfortably on the bridge. The outdoor seating has a great view of the fortress and the pilgrimage church. The food is not cheap, but it is high quality and tasty.

We used to always like to come to the Alte Mainmühle on the Main Bridge. My friends organized my bachelorette party in Würzburg. Unfortunately, the boss said that there would be no bar for bachelorette parties on site. This really annoyed me and I will only visit the Mainwein Ausschank in the future.

Quite a nice place. Sometimes our drinks were forgotten or we had to wait a long time for them. Food good, prices a bit high. In the middle of the tourist hotspot. Unfortunately a bit inflexible when it comes to intolerances.

I would never recommend this restaurant. It is very expensive and the waiters treat the customers badly.

After queuing for about 45 minutes at the outside bar, we were not served because we were a group of six women who were wearing an identical brooch. It was explained to us that we were therefore a bachelorette party, which we denied several times. So we weren't served.

Service was poor and the food wasn't ideal either. The salad in particular did not meet our expectations. The atmosphere is good for that.

I don't usually leave reviews for places, however this time I feel forced. I approached asking for two glasses of wine and was told that I would have to leave some sort of deposit for the glass (€10 when the glass of wine cost €6). Furthermore, I was later told that the only possible payment method was cash: are we even in Germany in 2024? When I reply that I don't have enough cash for the deposit, the glass of wine is taken away immediately, with a grimace as if it were normal not to accept the credit card and ask for a deposit for the glass "kindly" made available by the restaurant. Without words.

Unfortunately, incredibly unsympathetic staff. Were sent away in a very arrogant manner because they don't serve wine at hen parties. It would be understandable if we were messing around or something similar, but we were civilized girls who just wanted a glass of wine. It could also have simply been communicated properly. But after queuing for 20 minutes we were simply sent away in the most unfriendly and arrogant manner. Therefore, unfortunately not recommended if you value customer orientation.

We queued in the afternoon because we wanted to have a glass of wine on the bridge. When it was our turn, we were immediately turned away with a look at our sunglasses and the explanation that bachelor parties were generally not served. We were completely sober, calm and friendly. This blanket prejudice is unfair and frustrating; I wouldn't go here again outside of a bachelorette party. The serving should not be made dependent on generalized assumptions, but on the actual appearance and behavior of the people, not on their gender or reason for the visit!

Very nicely located restaurant with a great ambience. The service was quite mixed. We were served by a nice and courteous waiter. Another person who came to our table but didn't take orders and then sent them to the other colleagues looked increasingly annoyed. He didn't really want to communicate with us either. The food was good. My colleagues were satisfied. Unfortunately, my risotto was hardly chunky, there is room for improvement here.

We've eaten there several times. This restaurant is a must on every trip to Würzburg.

I ordered one dish from chef recommended list, the salad is really good with perfect source and well-cooked black tail shrimp and beef. The bread they provided is also soft insides and crispy outsides. Not traditional german food, but really fit for asian taste.

In terms of location, the restaurant is of course unbeatable: we had a table outside on the balcony directly above the Main. We were all very impressed with the food, so there was nothing to complain about. Unfortunately the service wasn't ideal: the bottle of wine was already waiting next to us but it just wasn't served, so we helped ourselves...

Disappointing beer tent atmosphere. The food was not seasoned enough and not freshly prepared (Schäufele: crust rubbery). Many guests drunk and loud. Relative expensive. The advantage is the beautiful ambience and the great location.

The food etc was quite ok. The service, however, is really not great. We pretended to be nice all the time on Fake and when we supposedly didn't give her enough tip at the end, she suddenly became totally unfriendly. No recommendation

Beautiful restaurant right on the old Main bridge with a wonderful view of the fortress. The food was very delicious, although very, very expensive. I suspect that the high quality of the food is simply reflected in the price. Very friendly service and of course a great ambience.

Nice food, nice atmosphere! A little expensive!

At the beginning of my studies there was nothing other than a dilapidated historical building that was turned into a gem with a lot of money and a lot of love. The mill bratwurst with cabbage is a long-running favorite from the very beginning. I can recommend everything in terms of quality and taste, as long as it would otherwise suit your own taste. Meat was a bit dry the last few times but still on the good side. Every room has its own charm. We love the fireplace room in winter and the balconies in the late afternoon in summer. I come by every time I'm back in Würzburg, but I've also explicitly invited business partners there.

We were down in the garden by the river with a divine view (although the photo of the fortress is from the bridge above the terrace, but the view is just as nice), the beer and prosecco were good, the creme brulee and chocolate mousse were excellent. Nice service, a classic for us every time we are in Wurzburg 👍
