Garam Masala in München

INDIANS, AVOID! This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve EVER had. Garam Masala in Munich is dirty, disrespectful, and completely unpleasant. The place was filthy, and there was even hair on the seats. The owner was unbelievably rude and arrogant. He kept going to a corner table to eat while customers sat waiting. When we needed extra naan, nobody cared enough to check on us. We had to get up and walk to the counter near the kitchen just to order more lmao. The worst part was the obvious racism. Local customers were given proper service and even got their dishes placed on heated stands to keep the food warm, while we were ignored and denied the same. It was clear and insulting, so much that we stopped ordering anything else. The pictures are attached. For a restaurant that claims to represent Indian cuisine, this place is an absolute DISGRACE. If you’re Indian, don’t even think about coming here. They clearly don’t respect you or the big business you give them that helps them even survive. Spend your money where people value cleanliness, hospitality, and basic respect.

We've been eating here for years and it's always delicious. We've never been disappointed and have tried several different dishes. The service is also very attentive and friendly ☺️👍🏼 We love coming here! Keep it up! We can wholeheartedly recommend the Garam Masala to everyone!

Food was good but I am giving 3 star because the service person was rude and was not accommodating enough and was rude to us because we were a bigger group.

if i could rate this restaurant -10 i would. The food is bad, the owner is rude and hostile (he was also eating in between serving customers which is very unsanitary), the restaurant is dirty we found a piece of hair on the table. We ordered rice and it never came, we asked him where was the rice he got annoyed and told us that we didnt order cury with the rice so he never served us the rice. The place overall is bad.

Way too little food without rice, sauce or salad, tasteless and inedible. Don't go there tourist trap👎👎👎

The food tasted really good – nothing to complain about. The service, however, was quite slow: Despite the small number of guests, everything took a long time – from the menu to the food. At other Indian restaurants, you get poppadoms to tide you over – unfortunately, not here. There were no napkins either; we had to get them ourselves from the neighboring table. Overall, the food was good, but the service could be improved. Tendency: 3.5 stars – rounded up to 4 because of the taste.

I ordered delivery from here at 16:00, I’m writing this review at 18:10. They use uber for their delivery, and it costs 8€, and then still takes so long. I don’t even know how the food tastes, I never got it!!! I just don’t find this acceptable. There’s no way to contact the restaurant about this besides calling, which they must’ve been busy because I didn’t reach anyone. This was my only option to get the word out that if you’re local and don’t want to dine-in, you’re going to regret it. If the food ever comes, I’ll update this, but as for now, 2 hours for delivery is never worth it. Edit: food came at 18:25. The driver had to take a picture of me with the food, which wasn’t great to learn suddenly. I live on a road that is one stop before an entrance to the internal highway…guess which turn the driver took…so that delayed things further. As for the food, it was definitely good. They seem to use pretty high quality meat, there weren’t any tough parts. There just wasn’t that much meat, you get about 4 cuts of meat, which are are a good size, but again, not as much as I’d expect. I changed my rating to 3 stars, because although the food was very good, I had a 2.5 hour wait. Maybe I’m an outlier, but if not, then I wanted other people to know uber will take their sweet sweet time bringing this food to you, and the restaurant doesn’t provide any options on how to start a complaint from their side.

If there was a negative rating, I would give to this hotel. The man in spectacle, possibly the owner is extremely rude, particularly towards Indians. Food is just about average. Would request travelers to avoid and there are many better Indian restaurants around

We ate there on a Sunday lunchtime in early August and had a wonderful time. We already discovered Indian dishes that I'd never seen before in restaurants I'd tried in France. But they were excellent! The restaurant wasn't crowded at any one time, but the clientele rotated a bit. In fact, there were only Indian customers, which, in my opinion, is a guarantee of perfect cuisine. So if you like Indian food, this is the place to go in Munich.

Very bad restaurant, the meat masala dish was full of oil and we asked for bread and they only brought two pieces, we told the girl we want hot sauce and she said okay the food is spicy and left, the seating is uncomfortable and annoying, as for the service, the worst I can describe is the supervising manager wearing a dirty shirt with food on it and his face is frowning and he doesn’t smile and his behavior is bad, next to us there were two tables of different nationalities and he came to ask them more than once if they needed something in a friendly manner and maybe because we are Gulf nationals he would pass by our table and not ask us and I consider this racism, I do not advise Gulf nationals to go there to be honest you will not like the way we deal with him.. Even though we were respectful with him from the beginning we did not offend him in any way but in the end we expressed our dissatisfaction with the way we were treated and he expressed his indifference to the matter

The food was delicious but the Indian manager was very bad in dealing with us.. He took care of all the tables next to us and was keen to ask them all the time about fulfilling the orders but he did not do that with us and he was doing that intentionally and it seems that he used to work in Saudi Arabia and was insulted and humiliated in the worst way because of his bad behavior. He wants revenge now but he is too low and inferior to pay attention to him and his bad behavior

If I could give a 0, I would have. The rating is not about the food since I didn't try it but the service at this restaurant. The man who worked there was rude to me several times for no reason and not at all welcoming to the point where I refused to order from this restaurant and left. I will never set foot in this restaurant again, not because of the food, but because of the deplorable service offered by this restaurant. I hope you will take this review into consideration, because this man clearly either hates his job (which is serving people) or he is detestable and in both cases, he should not be fit to work in a restaurant.

Pathetic Restaurant. I really dont understand how this restaurant is rated 4.7 We ordered Tandori roti and was served tawa roti for the price of tandori roti, they dont serve rice along with the dishes while almost every indian restaurant whether big or small serve rice along with the dish. Staff is not at all considerate towards kids, we asked a spoon of curd since the curry was spicy for kid and was to asked to buy a full-portion of curd. Prices of dishes are at par with any fine dining restaurant's but there will be no papad, chutneys or side salad like onions were served. worst restaurant, not at all recommended.

Unfortunately, we were overall disappointed with our visit to this Indian restaurant. Most of the food was only lukewarm, which significantly diminished the taste experience. The naan bread only arrived upon request and wasn't served with the main course as usual. The service also left a lot to be desired – we had to wait several times for the manager to pay, who didn't seem particularly friendly. Overall, we didn't feel particularly welcome. It's a shame, because the ambiance was actually quite promising. Unfortunately, the overall impression wasn't convincing, so we probably won't visit the restaurant again. Absolutely not recommended.

The restaurant has very delicious and clean food. I recommend it.

We came on a Sunday while all other restaurants were closed. There was some electricity problems in the restaurant and they made us waited for a very long time without any explanation. It is during the waiting time when we started to read all the reviews. It's actually pretty hilarious. Then the food came and it's actually phenomenal. Like the best Indian food I have had for a while by a mile. Even the rice was amazing, and I don't even eat rice on regular basis. Nann was great. They definitely need someone to train their staff, but food was so good and I would go again.

We ordered the vindaloo and butter curries. The vindaloo was good, VERY spicy but the home specialty curry, made with honey, was amazing. A bit sorry we didn’t order two of them.

We were craving some Indian food and I e stumbled upon this place. It was pretty good! We had some chicken biryani, Botti masala curry and some naan. Delicious! The servers are super nice and helpful.

That was the best Okra Bhaji I’ve ever had! I enjoyed it so much! The roti was excellent. They have nice desserts too! Service was very friendly. The restaurant is clean. I would love to go back there again!

Person is soo rude after ordering he said Das war alles . We were at this place yesterday and ordered one chicken tikka and kebab . As these were two seperate dishes . Instead of serving seperately they served both in one plate . I don’t recommend this place to anyone .

The food is delicious, we ordered spicy, but the host looked his age, the service was bad and he was very rude, the whole restaurant was empty or the tables were booked so he made us stand at the door! But the treatment is not worth it, on top of everything! And on top of all that we ordered a Coca-Cola and it was spicy!

Every dish we tried was perfection. Hands down the best Indian restaurant I’ve experienced – not just in Munich, but anywhere! The flavors are authentic, the portions generous, and the quality consistently outstanding. But what completely blew me away were the butter naans – truly next level! I say this as someone who has eaten at some of the best Indian restaurants in India – these butter naans are honestly better. They’re perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside, and brushed with just the right amount of butter to make each bite melt in your mouth. Slightly charred from the tandoor with that irresistible smoky flavor – absolutely divine! Paired with their creamy butter chicken, comforting dal tadka, and fragrant basmati rice, it felt like a five-star feast. The paneer tikka was also a standout – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly grilled. If you’re in Munich and craving Indian food, don’t walk – run to this restaurant. And whatever you do, don’t skip the butter naan – it’s the stuff of dreams!

Una excelente cena india. Mi esposa tomó el pollo tikka masala. Esta era una gran porción, que ella disfrutaba, aunque era un poco más picante de lo que le gustaba. Tuve Patiala Shahi con cordero. I visited with my German friend. We irdered fritters platter, that was average. I ordered the daal makhani and Naan, both were good and chef made it to my liking. My German friend ordered Butter chicken and Rice, he seem to enjoy it. The drinks were ok

But the real cherry on this dumpster-fire cake? After making us wait forever, and after we reminded him we had a train to catch, this legend of laziness straight-up told us to cancel our order. The garam masala is highly recommended! We were served great - friendly and courteous service - and we were given a nice table in the corner of the restaurant. The Murgh Tikka was very hot when it was served and the quality and taste of the chicken was very good! The prices are okay for the quality you get. We'd love to come back!

Undeniably the worst restaurant in Munich (probably the worst one I have visited across countries including the US where I live, France, Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland, and India). For starters, the food was OK - definitely, not bad. We ordered malai kofta and halwa (dessert) both of which were pretty good (4 out of 5). However, what made the experience truly disdainful was the owner Manpreet. I do not recall encountering a restauranteer (if he can be called that) who is ruder, more obnoxious, and uncouth than Manpreet. I would go so far as to say that Manpreet is a positively racist person - at the very least in his conduct with Indian (and more broadly, Asian) customers. His rudeness was also apparent to another German customer at a neighboring table, although his apathy appeared more directed to the Indian clientele (including two others who were lunching at the same time as us). To provide a few definitive examples (out of several we experienced in our one hour at the restaurant). First, Manpreet seemed to mock my request for serving a digestif (Fernet Branca) before the meal (which is how I usually prefer) vis-a-vis after the meal as is more common. He passed a condescending remark. Second, Manpreet repeatedly conversed with us in German despite us informing him that we were comfortable conversing in English or Hindi (all the while we could hear Manpreet speak in fluent Hindi with his chefs in the kitchen). Third, when my partner had a swig of water (with her medication), Manpreet rushed to our table yelling loudly that outside water was not allowed. He did not bother about our reason but kept up his aggressive remonstrations and passed a snarky comment, which I do not wish to quote publically. I probably have a page full of such examples from our brief sojourn at the restaurant. I see that many reviews of Manpreet's eatery resonate with the experience I have echoed here. Munich has excellent places to eat, staffed with excellent chefs and servers - be it Indian, Bavarain, Lebanese, or any other cuisine. AVOID MANPREET AND HIS OBNOXIOUS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

We've eaten here before and it's always been good - this time too there was nothing wrong with the food, but unfortunately there was nothing wrong with the service. There were four of us and we obviously didn't order enough for the service because we had to wait a long time for everything and there was no greeting from the kitchen like before. But it just so happened that my girlfriend can't eat that much after gastric surgery, so why order more? But what bothered me/us the most was the reaction to my request to make the meal without coriander because I'm allergic to it (no joke, it's been tested and I react to it with stomach cramps, fever and even fainting - unfortunately I've had it all). The waiter laughed at me and said, “Yeah, yeah, they just don’t like coriander.” Honestly, even if that had been the reason, I would have liked a little more respect. In the end, despite the tip, we didn't even hear a "goodbye" and I don't think they will ever say goodbye to us again. It's a real shame because the food is good.

So many Indians have tried it and no one manages to get close to this oasis. Everyone is measured by it, but so far it seems hopeless to reach this level.

We became aware of the restaurant through good Google reviews. We recommend not going there. Firstly, the waiter forgot our order and asked again after 45 minutes what we actually ordered. When the food came, mine had nothing to do with what I had ordered. It had zero aroma or taste, just absolutely spicy, even though it wasn't even in the description. When you sell Indian food, you shouldn't just serve whatever sauce was on hand. There was also a hair in my drink. After paying €62 for really lousy food, we just wanted to get out of the restaurant quickly.

Great restaurant in munich I had chicken vindaloo and asked for it extra hot, it was very good The naan breads were the best we've ever had, keema naan and chicken naan were lovely, good service too.

La espera hubiera sido buena si la comida era buena... nos sirvieron carne de cordero biryani con cuatro trozos de cordero que tampoco se cocinaron bien. La cantidad de arroz para biryani era tan baja que ni siquiera era suficiente para una persona. Los precios son exorbitantes en comparación con la cantidad y calidad... sus alemanes que podrían ser engañados por la comida india... pero como indio... solicitan no visitar o visitar bajo su propio riesgo...

The owner was rude when we drinking water he was threatening for not drinking water, offering no apology and becoming defensive. The food was bland and tasteless, especially for the price. Even we ordered the rice and waiter served 1 small bowl of rice like for 1 person and then he charged double (2person) price for one plate. I won’t be returning and recommend you avoid this place.

They keep on reporting negative reviews to remove them as much as possible. The waiter and the food are both absolutely terrible!

I visited this restaurant when I first moved to Munich. My friends had told me Indian restaurants here provide complimentary rice along with any subzi. Me and my wife decided to try this particular restaurant after recommendation from a colleague. Our experience was horrible. Staff was not well behaved and even though we ordered two seperate dishes, they did not provide rice as complimentary. I had to order Naan as well as rice, which ballooned our bill and at the time of payment, staff was looking at us like they achieved Owners award. I have never been to any Indian restaurant afterwards. I wish Google had Minus,r which could have been appropriate for this restaurant. Update: Owner tries all the tactics to delete negative reviews

DO NOT GO HERE!.. READ REVIEWS!!! Unprofessional and Unwelcoming service, especially the short guy in spectacles was very disrespectful. That's no definition of Indian hospitality, so, it's NOT an Indian restaurant. The entire time we were there, we clearly saw how he was licking after the Europeans, while not entertaining Indians/Asians at all. It truly hurt me as an Indian, that such a "Zameendar" mentality of being "a pet for the white" still exists after 77 years of independence. Anyway, the food and ambience was not great either.

When you see a mouse walking on the railing of the ceiling, you instantly lose appetite. This is a safety/health hazard, don't eat here.

We came for dinner with friends, every single dish was delicious, mostly paneer dishes were ordered, the time it took to get the food was very very long though.

Had an excellent meal here, very tasty, decent prices, good service and good beer. Portions were generous; dal, chicken and naan all excellent. Definitely recommended.

Good location. Food was fine. But the server gave me a menu and when I was ordering, he told me those 3-4 pages are outdated - so they should fix it!! There was just one server - and he seemed overwhelmed. Asked for a lemon, and he seemed unhappy about it. Food tasted fine. The lacha paratha was a disaster. Quite heavy dough and it wasn’t flaky

I am not really the person who comments on worse about something, but this restaurant made me do it. I would say that if you are an Indian don't even think about going here. It will make you feel uncomfortable, unwanted, judged and even slighty feel like your ex treated you better. It was one of the worst experiences in my life. The waiter and owner were racist, didn't even care about me and my husband, took order after a really long time, and when the food arrived just kept it on the table with such nonchalant behavior which just makes your mood go off. I would say if you are looking forward for a nightmarish and hellish experience from a restaurant this is the perfect place. The food portion was so less and the starter vegetable Garam masala that we ordered has still uncooked batter which ultimately made me lose faith in all the aspects of the restaurant. If you are an Indian, and If you think my review is a hyperbole of reaction, then all I can express is my condolences for the evening and wasted money that you are going to spend for the evening. The restaurant is late in serving orders and the atmosphere is crowded

Usually, I don't post reviews on Google. Seems like this place is extremely racist. My wife and I went to this place for dinner, and we were seated immediately even without reservation but the waiters didn't even acknowledge us at the table, only catering to the foreigners. We got our menus 15 minutes after seating and they took our order 30 min after getting our menus. We were very hungry and it was a very bad experience. Wouldn't definitely recommend it if you are Indian.
